Nasha finds itself in an interesting location, on East 7th, where Mexican eateries reign supreme, and a pretty busy road doesn't necessarily lend itself to the more slow eating common to curries and naan bread. Alas, the concept is unique, in that they are providing the more business-centric strip with a bit of Indian flare with American accents on the menu. The interior hasn't strayed far from the now-closed Colombian eatery formerly located here. Tacos, a smidgen of Chinese cuisine, and some Mexican flavors round out the nearly eclectic menu, but the curries themselves weren't spectacular. The lamb masala yielded appropriate Asian flavors but not much more than that. The vegetarian korma was a smidgen on the sweet side, though the spice provided balance. The restaurant may benefit from paring down the menu to a more refined concept, but I can appreciate what they are doing, in providing an East Side option to the frequented Tarka and Clay Pit. read more

Boi oh boi i'd love to give this 5-stars, but the service was meh. The food was def worth 5-stars and I will be back to try more. Though services came off as though yeah-your here-who cares-what would you like to try and let me send your drink looooong after you ordered it. I had to stop myself (or my stomach gave up) I really wanted to try so many items. The homemade salsa was top notch!! My drink, Pomegranate Margarita - once it finally graced me with it's existence was tasty. too sweet but nice with the spicy food. Veg Puff Samosa- exactly like a samosa would be. Potato Cake Wada- super dense and very filling. I wanted to try traditional foods-but those vegan tacos, I had to consume and I am sure glad i did. yummie! yo'd never guess there was tofu in that taco. So-i'll be back for some Aloo Gobi soon. very soon. read more

Rating is a -5. This place is no restaurant for Austinites who are accustomed to great food. We used to not accept crap. Now it's all crap but for the few we locals know. read more

The place is good, especially the outdoors on a fine morning feels very relaxing. The ginger chicken soup, lamb kheema, lamb puff are good. Paneer casadia is exceptionally good and something new. Apart from that, anything else is pretty much garbage if you're from India. Tandoori chicken tacos highly NOT recommended. There's no tandoori masala in it. Malwani curry is OK-ish, too much coconut and not authentic in any way. Mango lassi with JD is nice, just mango lassi is terrible, no mango flavor to it. Overall : Its good as a one time go, definitely not going back. read more

A very innovative restaurant from the decor to thier menu. A flavorful blend of Indian and Tex- Mex food. Do try thier curried Margarita's and Indian curries. The staff is very friendly and service is pretty quick. If you want to have a hippie feel then Nasha is your go-to eat place! read more

This restaurant is perfect for Austin! Nasha does a beautiful fusion of traditional Indian cuisine with a Mexican flair. I've eaten the Tikka Masala more times than I would like to admit. It's addicting. The chicken is tender and the flavor really stands out in the curry itself. I had the garlic naan with it. I don't know what they put in it to make it so delicious but it's like eating happiness! Holds great when sopping up the main dish. I tried their goat tacos the other day and they were awesom! The salsa that came with them was the perfect addition to the dish. Sweet, spicy and fresh! Samosas were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of chew in the crust. The flavors were outstanding in the lamb samosas. Great local Draft beers and a full bar! Spicy food and 512 IPA is my favorite. I will be coming back! I hear they are starting brunch soon too! read more

I love Nasha! My friends and I come here often. Their food is always amazing and they have vegan options as well! The lentil soup, coconut curry and of course the veggie samosas are my top choices. The staff is always friendly as well! read more

I'd like to apologize in advance to anyone involved with Nasha. I really hate to be negative, because I'm sure that whomever owns this place means well, but I feel like I have to do my part in making sure that people don't waste their money on overpriced mediocrity. While the location and service were good, the food was just...not. The mango lassi was a bit room-temp and watery, but I shrugged it off. When I touched their naan, though, that shit blew my mind...IT WAS SO HARD. Up to this point, I'd never had bad naan in my life; How does one fuck up naan? You could make a pizza on that shit. The saag paneer figuratively hurt my heart - It was watery as all Atlantis, and the paneer was one of the more flavorless things I've had in my life. The spinach was apparently frozen, given all of the green water that I witnessed on my plate, and the request for cream didn't seem to make a difference. The curry part of the Mahlvali coconut curry had an interesting flavor, but a strange texture (perhaps due to the coconut), while the chicken that we opted for seemed overcooked. If I hadn't had a dream that revisited how incredibly bland things were, I probably wouldn't have written this. I'm baffled by such high reviews of this place, but I also understand that we have our own experiences, that I didn't try everything on the menu, and that restaurants in locations like this can become easily overwhelmed (if Asiana off William Cannon and i-35 moved to a such a location and fell to shit, I'd be shattered). read more

The food was so horrific that I am compelled to write a review. As an Indian, this food ranks as the worst Indian food in existence. There was no flavor at all; literally the curry was just water - no garlic, spices, onions. Water - I repeat. This restaurant should be banned by the Indian Committee as this is tarnishing the "desi food brand". Superb service from the bartender, she was very sweet and attentive. I would think, perhaps I need to try another dish but the foundation of cooking and marinating is absent. The meat tasted as it was boiled. Have you ever had boiled meat - try this for the experience... read more

This place is literally across the street from my apartment, so I really wanted it to be good, but after several lackluster experiences, I've gotta say, this place is extremely disappointing. The food is just bland as can be and doesn't have the flavor of traditional/good quality Indian food. They've got a lot of weird fusion items, but even the basic chicken tikka masala is tasteless. If you're looking for good Indian food, I'd recommend G'Raj Mahal instead! read more

Really amazing paneer tacos. The paneer was perfectly spiced and the side dal was home style and delicious. Highly recommend!

I went here with my anti-Houston wife after reading another Yelp review that said "Places like this are what make me want to abandon Houston and move to this amazing city." As a Houston-apologist moving to Austin, I was skeptical...but after checking it out, I think they were right. Houston has lots of trendy patios, but I haven't found one with this kind of ambiance with a near-central location. Most of Houston's good Indian places, especially, are in the middle of nowhere. We sat on the patio and, as if Houston knew I was cheating, our meal was interrupted by some random car with blasting subwoofers. In what I can only assume to be Austin-fashion, though, the car was an original beetle. The food, service, and beverages were top notch and I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual Indian dining experience with well-made staples and a good variety of meats alongside vegetarian & vegan options. The Bombay Refresher was an excellent spicy pick-me-up. read more

Great food in a low key eclectic environment. Staff was extremely friendly and the drinks were on point. Food had just the right balance of spices and heat. Definitely recommend. read more

I love this place and it's my first time here. I am in deep, sensual love with this place. I feel like we just met and I fell in love at first sight. The food is SUPERB. The restrooms are so clean, I'd eat my food off of it. The staff treat you AMAZING. Shelby was AMAZING. The drinks are PERFECT. I'm leaving this review after 4 House Margaritas and each margarita, with the fresh lime juice, made me happier and happier. Everything about this place is 5 star. I'd love to take a date here. I'd love to actually take MYSELF here, many more times. This place is awesome. Prices are great. The setting is perfect. There is parking on each side. I just love it. I can't stop saying that bc it's true. read more

Nasha - This is the outside of the building - Indian Near Me - Austin, Texas

Went there last night with friends, and was wowed by how good the food was. We all ordered from the Vegan Section and the waitress was very helpful in suggestions. Food presentation was also very good, arranged nicely and on beautiful silver dishes. My only complaint about the place is that is is VERY noisy Was hard to hear even people right across the table, and impossible to hear anyone at the end of the table. This made an evening out for conversation with friends almost impossible. I'd love to go back for the food and service but I hope the noise situation can be remedied, maybe more sound baffling material on walls or ceiling. read more

Excellent spicy indian food in a comfortable setting (good for a date). They have a full bar and actually make some tasty specialty cocktails. The food isn't the cheapest and the quantity is merely adequate, but the flavors are traditional Malvani Indian food. Must haves include the fiery coconut based curries and some inventive fusion dishes (cause hey, it's still Austin). The service was friendly and prompt. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because my friend's chicken tikka masala was cooked using stale tandoori chicken. We asked for another one and the new one had fresh pieces of chicken. read more

I love eating here and try to do so anytime I am nearby (from Round Rock). I have introduced several friends and my husband to the food. Great options for vegetarians and gf folks. I always go for the veggie chili relleno. My husband commented that the garlic naan was especially good and had a nice combination of garlic and butter, not overpowering. My toddler really liked the chips and salsa and the paneer quesadillas. Chai is also great. Wish there was a location closer! Thanks for introducing this fusion. Yummy! read more

I am very disappointed. I spent 55 dollars on my meal in total through door dash and both curries I ordered were awful. Lamb vindaloo was very watery and did not have a curry consistency, it tasted like bland tomato water and the lamb tasted like it came out of a frozen food package. Sagg paneer just tasted like blended spinach, none of the authentic flavors were in these dishes. read more

I'm basing this review on the particular dishes I ordered. My go to dishes at Indian restaurants are the chiken/lamb biryani and tikka masala. The biryani here was not really balanced and there was far too much either tamarind or prunes in it. The dish had an overpowering sweetness to it and not enough rice to balance it out. The tikka was decent, it was passable. New India(RIP)and Clay Pit blow this place out of the water. My partner and I both experienced upset stomachs as well. I'd give it a less than average rating. read more

Biryani is out of this world! Ordered a Chai tea as it was a cold night and 10mins later the waitress came back saying that it would be a little while that she had to make some up....I never did receive my Chai. I ordered an alcoholic beverage which was delicious once it got to me-it had muttled cucumber and jalapeno. Service was poor and it wasn't busy... read more

Wow this place is beautiful. Indian and Tex-Mex combination of dreams. If you like either of these tastes, then go. At least to try. You will not be disappointed. I recommend the jalepeño naan. The combo of spicy backgrounds is perfect if you like spicy. We also got the chicken tikka quesadilla, *update* saag enchiladas with tikka sauce. So good This place has the best atmosphere, and I have yet to try their tacos!!! But their menu is freaking amazing. read more

Nasha - Green coconut curry and tikka masala with garlic naan. Scrum-dilly-umptious! - Indian Near Me - Austin, Texas

I used to enjoy the food at this place, but the last couple of times I went it was not good. Last night was worse. They served me cold dried out chicken, wrapped in a cold dried out tortilla, with a side of cold rice, on a cold metal plate (enchiladas). I didn't say anything and decided at that point I would just not go back. Then I took a sip of my pomegranate margarita and it tasted awful. It was then I decided to say something. I wasn't sure if the juice they used was bad or what made it so off, but they insisted it wasn't bad and added more pomegranate juice to "improve the flavor." The woman told me "we don't take returns on liquor" (????). Um, if a client has an issue with a drink, you remake it. Period. That's when I decided to also mention that my food was not edible and was told, "we've been serving food all night and no one has said that but you." My tab was $50. Don't give these jerks your money. read more

Where to go on a Monday night for a casual, fun dinner with interesting, tasty cuisine? Good question and we found it at Nasha. A little ways down E. 7th street where a South American restaurant used to be, Nasha was exactly what we were looking for. Monday was half price draft beer day with a nice little selection of craft beers, but the margaritas were the winners. I don't remember which one we had (it has been a couple of weeks now--not the number of drinks!). The drinks were made with fresh ingredients and were interesting, delicious twists on the classic cocktail. We had the Kheema Masala, Tikka Masala and Malvani Roasted Coconut Curry with Naan. They were all excellently prepared with fresh spices. The surprise was the Malvani curry which did not have an overall coconut flavor. Though it was good, I would not order it again. It just did not win me over like the other dishes. The Naan was excellent and we want to go back and try their other dishes like the tacos, curried mussels, poached eggs, and more! read more

Love this place. Delicous food. Great people own, work, and run this restaurant. Focused on healthy and tasty iterations of many familiar Indian dishes. Regarding previous reviews about "authentic" food and staff, take that bullshit somewhere else. I hear Dallas is great. read more

They definitely got the growing pains out of the way and I like this place. Went for lunch and theres always a lunch special, big plate of different items and priced good at $9. We got really poor service. The waitress ignored us for twenty minutes straight when we just wanted to get our check and leave. The restaurant wasn't even particularly crowded. The food was a huge disappointment. The samosas were pretty flavorless. The saag was watery and did not have any cream in it even though we explicitly asked for cream. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The nan bread was hard and inedible. Overall it was pretty mediocre. The only saving grace was the lassi, which was good. read more

Omg this is my new favorite restaurant in Austin. I'm not sure who started this Indian Tex Mex fusion stuff but I absolutely love it. I came here for the first time recently. It has the easy going, but colorful, quirky vibe of the eastside. For appetizers we got the veg puff samosa and the onion pakoda. Both were delicious and the onion pakoda was definitely a larger portion. I had the chicken tikka masala enchiladas (yes you heard me right). It was just as glorious as it sounds. I can't wait to go back and check out the tikka queso and some of their cocktails. And basically everything else on the menu! read more

The restaurant has a very apt name true sense of the word Nasha your spirits are on a high from the moment you set foot in the door until the Time you walk out it's only Nasha. Great ambiance, staff is very friendly. Not to miss the variety of Margaritas the place has to offer good value for money if you love to party or just chilling. Their Mexican starters are amazing. This is the place I take any person I want to impress and sit around laughing with. It's charming and intimate, with that Austin vibe like you've found some sort of secret. Every time I go here I share dishes with my guest. I am not vegetarian, but when dining with one I've not missed the meat. Veggie or lamb samosas are a great start. The two sauces it comes with are tasty. The vindaloo curry is my favorite. I've had it with lamb, paneer and chicken. I would always recommend getting the jalapeño naan to soak up some of the juices. read more

Nasha is easily one of my favorite restaurants and in Austin and I was born and raised here! Their Currys are amazing and the tikka con queso is to die for. Good service, quick food We came at 7 on a Friday night and sat at the bar. Bartender was nice, the Thai basil and cardamom margaritas were good (I'd add more cardamom, if I'm being picky.) we ordered the Millionaires Curry (mild) and the Aloo Gobi (medium) with garlic naan to split. It was all pretty delicious. The curry was a little spicy for me but I was warned. I think the portion sizes are a little small for what pay here, and the drinks are pretty pricey- comparable to a more upscale restaurant. All in all though it was a great meal and we left super satisfied. read more

One of my top places to dine in Austin downtown. Eclectic place serving mexican indian fusion. Kheema masala(ground lamb) with garlic naan is the best there. Lamb puff appetizers are awesome. Tikka con queso with ground lamb and jalapeno naan rocks!! Great service and Plenty of free parking. Tried their new dish, whole red snapper with tomato, onion garlic sauce. It was okay, hard to eat with the bone in. Verde curry is good, but it was too spicy hot for my taste buds. read more

I rarely dole out a 5 star review but in this case, I'm happy to do so. I've eaten Indian food all over the map but this place really is something else. While the place may not look like much from the outside (though it has a nicely done mural) but step in, and have them change your mind for you. Done up in a quaint bistro type way, the atmosphere is friendly and the food, simply put, is scrumptious. The menu is a take on Indian food with a little bit of Mexican fusion thrown in.. the flavors are rather delightful and hit the right notes. We had the Koliwada shrimp which was spiced perfectly as well as the Malvani Mussels (btw, most Indian food in most Indian restaurants is a hodgepodge rehash of the same old tikkas and masalas but here, the cusine has a strong Coastal Indian flavor that's known as Malvani cusine and it is delicious). Do also try the Goat tacos and the Millionaire's curry with Naan.. very good. Overall, great food (and a full bar) that's definitely worth the trip. I'm visiting again the next time I'm in Austin! read more

This is updated review as the business owner rightfully pointed out some errors in my earlier review. So here goes....The grilled prawns was very good. Roti was ready made stuff from Indian stores and we were disappointed with that. Millionaires Curry was heavy with the tomatoes. Overall, more of a miss than a hit. Service was decent even though they were backed up. read more

On a Saturday night, this place was busy! Only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, though. Wait staff seemed stretched thin, but still very friendly, and we did have to wait quite a while for our food. But once we got it, man, it was worth the wait. They have some Indian Mexican fusion dishes like the enchiladas and tacos. The Kheema (ground lamb) enchiladas were excellent with some spice, thick corn tortillas, Indian sauce, guac, cabbage, and rice. They didn't skimp on the meat. Would definitely come back! read more
