Good food, little over priced I think. First time I had the oxtail there I loved it, second time it wasn't as great. Well I love their samsa, thats one reason I go there. Good seating area. One thing you'll notice that they have lots of waiters, service is never delayed. Their bread needs some improvement. I don't think they make it fresh all the time. Street parking only! read more

I've frequented this place numerous times... I go there with my daughter when I pick her up, I am divorced so it's the place we have dinner, I never really look at the bill but today I was curious. It had an account of everything I bought but under the sub total there was a service charge of 10% when I questioned them on it they refused to remove it, mind you I was there with a child not 6ppl 8ppl or anything crazy. The manager (older gentleman bald) told me I dont need to visit the establishment anymore if I'm not satisfied with it, mind you it was a 4$ charge I will never ever go there again. I fly from Arizona everyother weekend to see my child, and for 4$ they made a big deal about it any questions feel free to email me i.shimonov88@gmail.com I will not mind answering your qurstions. read more

The food is good, but the portions are less and less and the prices are higher and higher. I can eat at a good steakhouse and enjoy myself better then order from Nargis! Last time they forgot to bring my bread that I paid for and the girl on the phone refused to refund he money and said yo remind her next time I order! What a joke! read more

Time changes everything.. In the past it was one of my favorite places but now - it's not. Abnormally price for average food. Last my visit I've got rare beef kebab. Two weeks before waiter had spilled soup onto my girlfriend's dress. read more

Food is ok but service not that good. Hope they are little friendlier in the reception area. For everything we have to ask & wait longer that usual time. read more

A great, probably one of the best Uzbek cuisines in the NYC. Great salads and barbeque. Original noodles with stew. After visiting this restaurant I felt like I was back in Uzbekistan. read more

I have been coming to this place for 6-7 years. Service is always good and very attentive staff. It feels like the food is not tasty as it was before, and the price getting higher. It was my favorite spot for Uzbek plov. This time I also ordered plov ($10), which was just a mediocre. Rice wasn't cooked enough. But I think in Samarkand restaurant plov ( only 7$) is way tastier and portions are bigger. But overall it's good place. read more

Fantastic Uzbek food, great service, nice selection of beer (and generous glass sizes). Manty were amazing, but a little smaller than I expected - get a side dish. Plov was excellent. Overall, definitely worth a long walk from Brighton Beach. read more

It was my first time eating at this particular restaurant but I am no stranger to Russian/Uzbek/Central Asian food. I usually go to the Bukharian Jewish Uzbek restaurants in Queens, but since it was a Jewish holiday and most of the Bukharian restaurants are Kosher, they were closed. I was craving some real Uzbek food since it's the best cuisine on the planet (my opinion). Everything about this place is cool. A plus if you speak Russian (which I do since I'm half Bukharian Jew half Belarussian Jew. The waitress was very nice. The food was excellent! Try the pelmeni soup! It's beef/lamb mixed ravioli in a delicious broth and don't forget the kebabs! From chicken to beef to the lamb and mixed meat called "Lyulya" it's a dream! Food heaven to the max! I don't care for the pork though, since in Uzbek and Bukharian cuisine its taboo plus for me as well. It's prob on the menu. Try if you want. But the best thing is the lamb PLOV. The greatest dish on the planet. I ate outside with a friend who goes to school in the city, he was quite impressed since he never gets out of morningside heights. I had to show him the cool ethnic neighborhoods of Brooklyn like Brighton Beach! Next time I come to brooklyn I'm def gonna eat at Nargis Cafe! So good! and UZBEK!!! YUMMMMY just like mom used to make! (My mom's from uzbekistan too haha) read more

Cafe Nagis is one of ny favorite places to eat in Brooklyn. The food is absolutely incredible! Simple, delicious with very reasonable price points. I've brought famous chef friends to eat here and they loved the food. I highly recommend this place when in Brooklyn!!! read more

Consistently great food but prefer to take out than dine there. Always very busy and crammed. There's no space to sit comfortably... All the tables are very close together. read more

This place has amazing food and great prices! The waiters are really nice and pleasant. Bring you the food usually on time, and quick! I always come here with business partners and friends. Highly recommend it! read more

Portion size is a bit small compared to other Russian restaurants. The pumpkin samsa was an original find. Both the pumpkin and regular samsas were pretty good. The Uzbek plov, fried potato dumplings, and the nan was also pretty good. read more

Uzbek plov is absolutely delicious. The lab just melts in you mouth. The rice is definitely cooked in some air of of broth because I couldn't stop eating it. Also got the lagman and fried eggplant to share with friends! The lagman is like fancy expensive ramen but still delicious. If you order the fried eggplant, definitely also get bread to dip it in! Very tangy. The baklava was so good I thought I was in dessert heaven. read more

The food is mediocre here, but my main pet peeve is that the place smells like greasy kitchen. If you have smell senses you will know exactly what I am talking about. Anyone who cooks, and especially in oil, they end up sleeping like food after. Well, when you step into the restaurant this smell hits you in the face, and when you leave your jacket, clothes, and hair smells like greasy food. Perhaps, it's because the kitchen is open and they deal with a lot of fatty lamb; however, I never had this strange issue in other Central Asian establishments like Tsob Tsobe or Oasis. I know lots of people love this place, but I just don't get the joy out of smelling like greasy lamb after my dinner. The other issue is that the tables are so close to each other that I truly had other people's hands on my table. Can you tell I'm not a fan? Perhaps it's because there are much better places around. read more

Pros: -kebabs are really well seasoned -big portion sizes -menu is offered on an iPad so there are photos for most of the food -lamb kebabs are a must have if you like lamb Cons: -the service is okay; not the best -fries aren't seasoned well -not that accessible; not near any trains read more

My favorite place to celebrate my Birthday!!!! Gorgeous food, super friendly and professional service.

I would not reccommend this place to any one, food is not good, very bad customer service, they brought me wrong salad and I asked to make it correct the waitress said I will have to charge you for it, and at the end they still bill me for the wrong salad wich is I did not ordered, and she was rude, and clearly said I DON'T CARE! read more

Love the experience eating here. Fun times. Kebabs are really good and cheap, and what I go here for. Samsas, breads, salads and typical Eastern Euro fare are all solid. Not much on the cocktail menu I'd recommend unless vodka is your choice. Good for big groups. read more

Craved for authentic Russian food, we trekked all the way from Jew Jersey to Coney Island via public transportations. It was a summer day and after 2 hours we finally reached our destination, a well packed local restaurant in a Russian neighborhood. It's full at 3ish Saturday afternoon and we were lucky enough to get a tiny little table outside by the street. I can reach the plates on my next table and I saw the bill and tips they paid. We didn't mind the space at all since we were too excited to try out. Food is so so authentic and homey, we tried all the recommendations by yelpers and were satisfied and happy. My fav. - the cucumber salad and salmon kebab. Next time we will drive. read more

The staff are all very friendly and professional. Out waitress went out of her way everyone had a chance to try everything on the table by individually serving every dish to every member of our party. She even promised my 6 year old a surprise if she finished her food and followed through by giving her a rooster shaped Russian lollipop. But on top of great service is the real star of this place - its food! I would even hesitate to recommend anything in particular - just try anything and you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is awesome! Best chicken kebobs I have ever had. When you come here you have to come with an empty stomach because you wont be able to stop. My best advice is to order family style so everyone tries a little of everything. The waitresses are really nice and friendly but don't speak the best english so be patient. They are prompt with the food and everything is always fresh. Just thinking about this place makes my mouth water! read more

I like them very much. They don't drliver to 7s anymore but their food id excellent!

I been ordering from this place for quite sometimes and it was always so good. However, today food was absolutely horrible. Everything taste it really bad and quality was awful. They forgot to send some items from my order and when I call to let them know they seem like they didn't care. Person who claimed to be the manager was just clueless. I will not order from this place again as it was the worst $$ I spend. read more

I just got back from my birthday celebration at Nargis - what a great experience; I couldn't wish for more - the food, the service, the atmosphere - excellent! I love this restaurant. Their avocado salad can be had as a super heathy meal. Its a hardy portion that is meant to be shared. They do not cheap out on the avocado and the avocado is always ripe. Next, I get the pumpkin Manti. I don't like anything pumpkin but these are delicious. My go to is the Plov. its delicious and I usually have enough leftovers for another meal. The weight staff is always great and attentive. One of my favorite things is the European music videos playing in the background. The only thing that disappoints is that they never have this grilled cherry pepper, balsamic, and goat cheese appetizer that is advertised. I had it a couple of times and it is phenomenal. Nargis, if you're reading this please make this available all the time! read more

I go there casually, they have amazing bread. And meats are delicious. Get a nice wine and enjoy your dinner. There is also nice tea.

Usual Russian food for a fair price. Their feta salad and garlic fries are the best. The decor is very okay. I give them five stars for their overall staff effort, taste of the food and just for being the only reliable source of Russian food. If you want to take your none Russian speaking friends somewhere to impress them with your drinking capabilities as a soviet then this is the place. It's none threatening appearance will impress your friends and the decor Will depress your friends :) just kidding. read more

Food is amazing! One of the best places for shish ka bob in town! The service is good. If you're looking for a great place to eat stop by and try them out. This review is long overdue! I've been going to Nargis religiously for about 6 years, ever since they only had one store front with two long tables, and I must say they came a very long way. Nargis is truly my most favorite Uzbeki/Eastern European restaurant I've ever been to, I've tried several in and around NYC, but none compare to the quality, taste and service. The most important thing that makes me come back, is the consistency. The portions are always good, the taste is always delicious and the atmosphere is always alive. I never had any bad surprise eating at Nargis, only good surprise, like when they added green plov and other specialties to the menu, it was my first time trying it, and I enjoyed something new, even more than that I enjoyed something authentic! The meals here are like a journey for me, starting from the salads, to the soups, onto the appetizers, and finally the main event with the kebabs and garlic fries, I arrive at my destination every time! I enjoy bringing my visitors , co-workers, dates and family here for any occasion, not once has anyone complained about the food, they always tell me that they ended up coming back and get me jealous that they went without me. The staff is great too, they're trained properly, very approachable and courteous at all times. BTW, I went to tsob tsob across the street from Nargis, and the food is nowhere close to as good as Nargis, the portions were small and simple stuff like salmon wasn't fresh. I was actually hungry after we left, I told my friends lets stop by nargis for some real kebabs, they thought I was crazy, I told them they're twice as crazy for taking me anywhere but Nargis especially if we're within walking radius. Don't waste your time or money experimenting, just go to Nargis and treat your appetite right! Shout out to the manager with the awesome shirts and interesting hat, he's always entertaining, and shout out to Sasha the waitress for a great personality and hospitality! Give her a raise, she deserves it! Nargis will always have a place in my heart! read more
