Tried different things from here and everything tastes great. We recently ordered my daughter's birthday cake from here. I had a decoration in mind for the cake and I went in the store to speak to someone if they can create the cake that I had in mind. When I went in, there was no customer at the bakery but the lady at the register would not speak to me about ordering cake. She said I had to call them to speak about ordering cake. Even though there was no one in the bakery beside me, she seemed like she was in a rush to do something else and would not talk to me unless I was purchasing something then. So I called and spoke to Fatima on the phone placed my order. The cake was not cheap. But they did an amazing job. The cake was just beautiful!! Its exactly what I wanted. Not only it looked amazing but it tasted fantastic! Its chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling. If you want great looking and delicious cakes, I definitely recommend this place. But don't expect to get great customer service going into the bakery. read more

My family has been a long time customer of Nanak's as we prefer our cakes to be eggless. It's very hard to find a bakery that can make eggless cakes that are moist and taste good. As such I chose Nanak to do my 3-tier wedding cake in July 2023. I showed a picture of what I wanted and the cake came out exactly the same if not better! But most importantly it tasted delicious as well! I also ordered a half cake sheet with a different flavor and a few vegan cupcakes. Everyone loved the cakes! This bakery is a hidden gem on this side of Westerville. The sad thing is that since they cannot find enough help, the a la carte menu has disappeared. They are only making cakes to order at this point. When I was able to get 2 pastries, they were heavenly and affordable. Nanak Bakery is one of the best. It's independent and locally owned. Many varieties of cakes and desserts can be created according to special diet restrictions. It can make cakes without eggs. They also have a few other sweet things. I tried some of the baklava. Several of these are a couple of bucks. They make some with no dairy and eggs. It's one of the rare bakeries with vegan baklava. There's not many ready to go items that are made without eggs, so you need to call ahead if you want a cake or anything pretty big like that. According to sources they have moved around a bit. Honestly not great service. We went here to pick Up a cake for a birthday. We relied on a yelp offer for 10% when choosing a bakery last minute. When we got to the bakery we checked in as we always do. We were not greeted and the bakery seemed empty. After 5 minutes someone finally asked us if we needed help. We told the lady who asked us if we needed help for the cake that was called in. When we go to pay we show her the yelp offer and she said that's not ours. I stated this is the bakery. She stated no it's not for here, it does not have an expiration date, where did you get that, no. We stated we got it on yelp. She went and got the owner who also stated the same thing. The tone was rude and accusatory as if we were lying to them. Honestly for us the 10% wasn't the issue it was the way we were spoken to. After huffing and puffing regarding the 10% they gave it to us and the owner walked away without saying anything to us. The lady who was helping us also became dismissive. Honestly regardless of the taste of the cake the service was atrocious towards us. read more

This place is my go to for eggless cakes! Amazing taste and you wouldn't know it's eggless. Beautiful designs so what's not to love? I recently ordered 2 cakes for my mom's 80th and they hit it out of the ball park. The guests kept asking me where we got the cakes from and my mom loved the taste of both. I picked a sheet cake in pistachio cream to be served en mass and a "80" number shaped cakes in chocolate and decorated with pink and gold decor with fresh fruit for my parents to formally do a "cake cutting". These cakes are not your typical overloaded with sugar and just the right delicate level of sweetness similar to European pastries. I don't live in the Columbus area and still make the drive for these cakes. read more

Stopped in to see what they had today. Decided on the Chocolate Moca and the Black Forest cake. Chocolate Moca- Nice smooth fillings used with a slight taste of coffee in it. The Black Forest is simply chocolate. Both have amazing frosting that is so smooth and to die for. The small pieces shown are $2.50 a piece. You won't find anything close to this for the price. Good selection, especially being 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon (they close @ 4). I figured I'd be picking from meager after-thoughts. Happily, not the case! Small square "cakes", each $2.49: Pistachio, Fruit Custard, Chocolate Almond, Napoleon and Tiramisu. Pistachio was my least favorite. I couldn't taste the pistachio, it was more like a vanilla cake. On the dryer side, compared to the others. The Napoleon was good, the fluffy filling between the thin pastry layers brought it all together. Tiramisu was my fav (duh!). Creamy. Smooth espresso taste, not overwhelming. Very good. The owner also makes a wide selection of cookies/baklava, and finger pastries. I did not try these, but several looked good. A pretty big building housing a pretty small bakery, but it's good stuff. Cake, cookies, baklava, napoleons- I like everything I've tried. They do wedding cakes and such, and say they will eventually have a full restaurant on-site (you can get a roast beef sandwich, etc., and there are tables inside, but apparently they're not quite ready to call it a restaurant.) read more

This is a spacious bakery with tables and encouraged eating. They do a whole lot of special event cakes. It seems they do a great business with children's birthday cakes. I didn't go for that, but there is a large book by the front door with sample cake designs. The children there were thrilled about the possibility of having an ice cream cone shaped cake or their favorite animal. They had a bunch of cartoon spray prints, but I wouldn't even know where to begin. I bought some baklava. They have two varieties: pecan and almond. I got the almond, one piece is $0.99. It was good, not as wonderful as a fresh baked, still warm piece. But it certainly had adequate amount of honey. I prefer slightly larger pieces of nuts, and a bit more filling. They had more honey and phyllo than the spicy fill. For a special order cake, stop in to see the selection...and grab a ready made pastry or cookie on your way out. read more

I am not a dessert/cake person....but it was so good I asked the host of the party where she got it from. Fast forward years later and I move out of state...but my sister in law still lives in Columbus OH. I wanted a special cake for my daughters bday party and I knew Nanak wouldn't disappoint! I remembered the bakery name, the cake flavor and filling from a half decade prior (that's how good the cake was!) and I ordered from them over the phone. My sister in law picked it up and drove it 2.5 hours north to the bday party....and it was the BEST CAKE I've ever had! My goodness. This bakery is BEYOND AMAZING! They have the most delicious cakes/ desserts I have ever had! Their chocolate ganache is my personal favourite. I have driven by here many times, it just took awhile to stop here since it is a pain to get to and always looks closed. I waleked in and still it looked closed and very abandone. I had a bunch of time to look at the cookies since there was noone around. I finally walked int othe kitchen so I could be served. They did not have much to chose from, maybe 10 different types of cookies which are sold by the pound so I got one of each. She has been a great friend in all the years I have known her and provides the best service and the specialty cakes without much increase in price. We ordered a cake from here for the baby shower /baby gender reveal. No doubt the cake was yummy but had given specific written instructions in an email as to the inner cream should be blue and what should be written on the cake. To our surprise there was no color on the inner cream and also when my husband went to pick the cake up nothing was written on it. Was very disappointed. read more

We've gotten the Napoleon cake a few times now and we've never been disappointed. I hate the really sweet cakes most places have, so I was really excited to find a bakery that makes delicious cakes that aren't drenched in icing or overloaded with sugar. The owner is a really nice man, and he even stayed later one day when we wanted a last minute cake when all other bakeries were closed. I didn't mind their decor, I'm there for the baked goods, so as long as that tastes good, I really could care less if their building matches or not. Besides, as another reviewer has mentioned, they're trying to convert to a restaurant, which is why they look strange right now. Their prices are pretty reasonable too.
