After paying $32 for a spa gel pedicure, not only is the work messy, she scratched my toe. It hurts to walk. I don't understand how hard it is to do a decent job. The nail lady began her pedicure and it was decent since I enjoyed the massage. However, my skin is sensitive. Although I loved a rough massage, I can NOT endure a rough scrub. I get pedicures frequently and take care of my feet. Therefore, I don't need to be scrubbed that rough, let alone left with an infected scratch that hurts. True, service was great, but you can't build a good business by just providing decent customer service. If you dare return, please make sure to tell them to do a good job. If you rely on them, they'll do a mediocre job because they really don't care about the well being of your body. read more

Today my sister and I went to this nail shop that is the place we usually go. My sister was in rush and she wanted to do pedicure and me manicure. I asked Kevin who was free to do her nails and he said she must sit there and wait for someone to help her and I asked him, you do it cause she's in rush. And he said I DON'T do pedicure at all. So we waited and while someone was working on my sister's nails, a customer came inside and Kevin greeted her very nicely and started doing her Pedicure although he had told us that he doesn't do pedicure. Not a terrible spot if you're in a fix for a quick and cheap manicure. I was heading through town en route to a wedding in a different state so I used my Yelp app to find an affordable manicure place close to me. $10 isn't bad in my book! I was a walk-in and they took me right away (there was only 1 other customer in the store who was getting a pedicure). There were about 5-6 staff hanging out in the back, socializing, and one gentleman who appeared to be balancing the books. It is a long, narrow space with manicure stations on the left, pedicure stations on the right, and small massage rooms in the back. The equipment wasn't the best I've ever seen in my life, but it was clean. The color selection was very decent but disorganized - the same colors were not grouped together. I didn't have any language barriers like people in other reviews but the woman who took care of me was just quiet in general, and very polite. I was happy with the outcome and tipped well. If I happen to live in the state, I'd consider going back - but nothing in particular really wowed me. read more

Went here for mani-pedi with a friend. My friend received horrible service and was not even offered all services on the list. The prices have gone up, the service has declined. I was offered a massage and the massage I got was pitiful. Given the current climate of things, we both left a 20% tip. Honestly, we're both regretting it. The manager, the only one with what I would call sufficient english comprehension, Kevin, was rude and not very managerial. He tried to explain away everything that went wrong and we basically left there with frowns on our faces determined not to go back. I am usually walking out the door satisfied from this place. My manicure and pedicure would have been 20 dallors however, I had to get a color change. Even though the girls (who did my pedicure and manicure) knew the color wasn't appealing and working properly they decided to talk amongst each other in their language. I asked to get a color change at the end I was charged 8 dallors more for that. I was annoyed because, the girls even called it an "ugly style". It was embarrassing and unprofessional. If they knew the Polish wasn't working properly or looked appealing then they should have communicated with me instead of being "immature high school girls". I went to Nails By Us yesterday for the first time. Vincent did my mani-pedi. I am in love with his work. My nails look great! The place is very small but has a cozy feeling. Everybody greeted me. Didn't have to wait long even though it was Saturday afternoon. Everything looks clean and organized. My nails are very sensitive (I used to have acrylics for a long time) and Vincent was very gentle, didn't hurt me at all. My toes look amazing. Love the hot towel! There is 90 minute free parking in the back and street metered parking in the front. Also, there is a Starbucks right next door. :) They charge $1 extra if you pay with credit/debit card. Prices are very good and reasonable. Will recommend and definitely will go back to Vincent. read more

Trust the stars! They have 3 stars for a very good reason. I went their yesterday to get a powder/ gel manicure and pedicure/callus remover/pariffin wrap and paid $115 (not including tip). Okay, I'm totally fine with paying that much, but for quality work. I am a salon manager so I understand what "quality work" is and what customer service is. I was the last one to leave the salon, so I was pretty tired and hungry. I was happy with the callus remover and the paraffin wrap. She did a great job cleaning the toes. So, I was pretty happy with my feet and with the tech who waited on me. I gave her a 20% tip and thanked her. My feet were in the complimentary slippers they give for almost 2 hours! I went home and was barefoot for another hour before touching my polish to make sure it was dry to lay down. My right toes were completely dry the left was very wet and smeared right away when I touched them. In addition, my gel French tip was sticky, bubbly and chipping off! It's hard for me to leave work and drive in traffic to get from La Brea and Beverly to Glendale so when I knew I had to drive back the next day I was very upset. I can't afford to leave work early but I did it to give them a chance to make it right. The manager just told me come in. The manager did not give me an appointment. I called to let her know I was going to be around 6:10 and she said just come in we close at 7pm. So, I thought cool! I went in at 6:10-ish and waited until 6:50pm and sat next to the girl who did my polish a day before and did not even apologize or anything. They treated me like I was a bad client/like it was MY FAULT I was there!! That was a HUGE NO-NO! You MUST treat your "REDOS" better than your regular clients!! They are already jaded, already being inconvenienced to take time out of their very busy schedule to allow you to FIX YOUR MISTAKE! You should thank them for being such a good sport and coming back with a smile to help you FIX YOUR MIsTaKE!! But, there are different levels of customer service and this place is a 1 from 1-10. You guys made me feel like crap, just making me sit there and wait for 40 min!! And then the manager had the nerve to get upset with me when I said it's passed 7 pm, they were still working on clients. I have her the option of giving me a partial refund for my gel manicure since the gentleman tech was still with a client and didn't look like he would be done soon. I really couldn't wait until 8pm since I had to go home and cook dinner for my family. So I offered for the manager to give me a partial credit so I can go by someone else closer to my work during my lunch break to FIX THEIR MISTAKE!! I leave for a family thanksgiving trip the next day. But, instead of hearing my reasoning behind the partial reimbursement (which I always do for my unhappy clients) since a good salon with good customer service always gives the client 7 days to either redo or credit, she yelled at me, belittled me and was terribly rude! All because I suggested a partial reimbursement!! That owner/manager needs to take customer service lessons. You lost a very well paying customer who should have spent $120 every 2 weeks because of her greeedy, bad tempered attitude!! Stay away if you want to be charged $$$ , with mediocre service and old sticky gel and nail polish. read more

My friends and I wanted to get our nails done for my birthday we decide to go to nails by us because my friend has been going here for years my nail technician was van and I got a full set of acrylics for $45 I just have to say that I am very happy with what happened I did not have enough to pay for gel so she kindly let me go and pick another color and just regular nail polish the customer service was great and we were helped immediately I do not understand all these bad reviews because honestly it was hygienic she was very nice and she fixed any problems I had with the nails overall I had a very good time and I will definitely go again. read more

Spoiler alert: The moral of this story is that you should always carry cash with you. So I parked in the parking structure behind Nails By Us, only I didn't notice the CASH ONLY sign when I came in. When I tried to exit the structure, they directed me across the street to an ATM, so I could pay the 1.50 I owed. It had been a great morning so far, had met up with friends, light brunch at Sabz & Olive; so okay, I wasn't going to make a fuss. As I walked down Brand, I noticed Nails By Us had an ATM inside and I also saw they advertised eyebrow threading. I had also been looking for a new threading place, so I figured, let's give this a try. It had been a few weeks since my last threading, but not so long that my eyebrows had completely outgrown their carefully manicured shape. They brought me in right away, which I thought was a good sign. However, they did not have a specific threading chair. Instead, the threader had me lie down in the waxing room- a room lit by a fluorescent light on the ceiling. (Note: NO close-up lighting, no pillow to move my head up, there was no way for the threader to see my eyebrows up close). The threader asked me, "just clean up?" I confirmed: "Yes please, just clean up." Somehow, she took that to mean something else. After a few minutes, she called in another threader. They worked on my eyebrows simultaneously. I started to feel a little uncomfortable, because they might not end up with the same results; but I rationalized to myself, 'they're just cleaning up the outgrown hairs'. After 15 minutes, the original threader left, and the second threader put a mirror in front of me, only for me to find two UNEVEN PENCIL THIN EYEBROWS that I refused to recognize as my own. I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. There was no way to fix them except to comb my bangs over so that no one would see them until they grew back. I paid my $10 and ran. Yes, I paid dearly for not having cash on me that morning. Maybe I should have taken a hint from the business name, but I won't be returning to try their nail services; and my baby brows are currently hiding behind my fringe, betrayed and suspicious of all things string. read more

I was given the choice of regular pedi or spa for $18. I jumped at the spa pedi considering it's $10 more where I go in the Bay Area. Guys no. No amount of money you save by going here can make up for the fact that they do not follow sanitary rules. I'm going to neosporin my hands this week, because the manicurist used a gross cuticle nipper on my thumb. (by the way, always do this, because honestly, how can you ever really trust any salon place) They seem to have "Sanitized" and "Unsanitized" boxes in case the health inspector comes by, but otherwise play fast and loose with the rules. I came in and got my nails done, mostly because it was the morning and there was no wait, but really, it's one of those places where the "manicurist" is drill crazy, tries to cut your skin with dirty cuticle nippers.. No. Do not let this happen. I even found myself looking away as she was drilling because I realized what damage she was doing to my cuticle bed. They are all very nice people here, and yet, in good conscience we must look out for our health first. Oh and that weird thing where they charged me two dollars more than I was quoted happened. I didn't notice until i was cleaning out my purse. I wonder why that happens. We all love a good cheap salon, but do not mix up no-frills with no-sanitary conditions. Or else bring your own nail file (god knows how old the one they used on me was) and your own cuticle and nail nipper, that you have at least wiped down with alcohol. read more

(could've lasted longer but my nails grow fast so I needed to change the color) They also did an amazing job with my pedi! I had tried this place out a few times before for a basic mani/pedi. It was simple and cheap and I didn't have a problem. I also get my eyebrows done there, no problem. I went in for a gel manicure yesterday and that was a big problem. I've had gel nails done before, and I had planned to go to my regular salon to get them done for a very important job interview, however, since I was in the area and my friend likes getting her eyebrows done there I figured I'd save myself the time and worry and kill two birds with one stone. The wait was long, but it was understandable because it was a Sunday afternoon. It took them a while to even acknowledge me and my friend, however. We stood there looking around before finally after a long period of time asked us what we wanted. They asked us to wait, I finally got called for my eyebrows. The process was very quick and I felt very rushed. Then we went on to my nails. She did a very, VERY, quick job on them and she filed one nail crooked. I told her about it, nothing was done. Then she put the first coat of the gel polish on and left me in the UV light machine for about 15 min while she finished up a pedicure. So she quickly puts on the other coats and doesn't even say I'm done, just walks away. The service has really gone down the hell in this place. The next day (today) I wake up and notice that the polish on my thumbs bubbled and that the tips of my nails look dirty. Then I noticed that my pinky nail chipped. The whole purpose of getting gels is so that they won't chip. I go back for a refund because of the crappy job they did and they tell me that it's my fault that the nails are dirty and they chip. I show them that the black/gray gunk is on the polish, not on my nails and the didn't do anything to offer to help or fix the situation. Instead they told me to go to my regular salon where they did a better job if that's what I wanted. So much for customer service, agreed with some of the other reviews, you get what you pay for. read more
