I was in DC for a business trip and desperately needed my nails done! I called and got a same day appointment with Vivian and she was amazing! The salon isn't huge but it wasn't crowded. My nails are still going strong almost 4 weeks later! Will definitely be back.

Great pricing and excellent service! The staff was friendly and engaging but didn't overdo it, which I appreciated. The aesthetics were on point--clean, comfortable, and well-organized with everything you'd need. This is officially the only place I'll recommend in Dupont from now on! Just a heads-up: be mindful the color pairing with gel colors and dip colors as they don't always match.

I'm glad to find a salon that knows how to do real dip powder nails. On both of my visits, my nails were finished within 40 minutes and my appointment started on time. The nail technician did a great job on my nails and I did not have to place my hands under the damaging UV lights. The location is a 5-minute walk from the Dupont Metro, which is very convenient. You can email or call to make an appointment; however, the option to book online would make the process even smoother. I was offered tea or filtered water during my visits; however, I would have preferred a small bottle of water to keep it covered when others were coughing in the salon. I'm looking forward to returning on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday when the salon offers a $5 discount on dip powder, pedicures, and gel manicures.

The best manicure I have gotten in DC! The staff at Nails by District are so welcoming and allow you to truly relax during their services. Very clean and hygienic work stations. Each manicurist takes their time to ensure you are satisfied with the color, shape, and polish type. They never fail to impress me! Be sure to come in on the weekdays for the happy hour nail deals. My new favorite nail spot in the district :)

Since moving to DC in 2019, I had never had a regular nail salon or nail tech. Everything changed when I moved to the neighborhood. I cannot recommend Vivian enough! I get dip manicures with her that last 6 weeks and could go longer. Her shaping is impeccable. Salon is clean and well organized. Everyone is friendly! I would call and make an appointment ahead of time.

Poorly "fixed" nail, after breaking just two days after getting them done.

Had a nail break just two days after they were done here, nothing crazy on my part. Pictured is the "fixed" nail they charged me even more $$$ for, crooked with a giant bubble. Nail tech acted like nothing was wrong with it. A friend said the same thing had happened to her, but her nail was fixed for no additional charge, so I'm not sure what the deciding factor was there. Poor customer service.

Vivian has been doing my nails for the last few years and is the absolute best! I have gone back and forth between gel and dip and she nails them both, every single time! Visiting from out of town. Had great service took me early for my appointment, offered me beverages multiple times making sure I was comfortable. Nancy did a lovely job on my natural pink dip nails. Not too pink not white in honor of Cherry blossoms but truly for a formal wedding. Looked great and was exactly what I had in mind. Will try to come back again for any future visits to DC read more

This is the best nail salon I have been to in DC! My longtime nail tech, Vivian, recently moved here from another salon. Vivian is a perfectionist, so my nails always come out amazing (even when I ask for some crazy design), and I always enjoy our chats every few weeks. This salon is bright with tons of sunlight, has very comfortable chairs, and a huge selection of colors for dip. The salon is modern and clean, plays good music, and has the food network on. It's no surprise I've been trying to find the best nail salon in DC to patron when in town. Well, I think I've found it! Nails by District is located in the DuPont Circle area. The salon is clean, the people friendly and the quality top notch. This isn't a nail factory where they get you in and out quickly while quality is compromised. My person took their time with my gel manicure. My nails looked beautiful, but more importantly my manicure lasted almost three weeks. I will be back. read more

I've been going to this place for about five to six months, and I have loved it! They pay special attention to detail and have helped me match colors from pictures I have brought in. They also have a quieter atmosphere than most nail salons, which I appreciate! The pedicures here are also quality, which I have found hard to find in DC. read more

The nail technicians are all very friendly and kind. I brought two friends daughters to get their nails done for the prom which both came out fantastic as well as mine. I came in for a gel mani/pedi and Amaya (not sure how to spell her name) was great! She made sure that all my nails were even, and asked me throughout the whole process if I liked how it was looking. Everyone was also very friendly, and I was also offered water, tea, or wine. Vivian is hands down the best nail tech/artist in all of DC. I've been seeing her for over 3 years and she has nailed it (pun intended) every. single. time. She is so personable, listens to what you want, and executes it flawlessly. I get dip on my fingernails and Vivian shapes them perfectly every time (no more catching your hair on your nails when they grow out). Nails by District is clean, comfortable, and has a huge variety of colors in regular, gel, and dip polishes. Highly recommend this salon and Vivian! read more

Lynn, Thai, and Thao are the best! I had an incredible collagen pedicure and foot message with Nancy, and then ended with tips and a pale pink chrome manicure with Thao. My nails are perfect, and the salon is beautiful. Clean, professional, and all the newest colors and nail options (including cat eye and chrome!). I've been seeing Lynn and Thai (the owners) for years at various salons, and Thao for manicures for about a year, and I trust them with my life. They always deliver exceptional service and top notch nails. I'm so thrilled for their new salon and cannot recommend them enough! read more

Vivian is the absolute best there is! I've been seeing her going on 5 years now and my nails look perfect every single time. She's also so kind and it's always a great experience having my nails done by her. I usually get dip manicures and they're nice and thin and last for weeks. I really like that this salon is spacious, uses fresh tools, and has an enormous color selection even for dip powder. I would follow Vivian anywhere, though! read more

I came in for a gel manicure (French tip) just over a week ago and my nails are already chipping! I have been to a lot of salons for gel manicures and I've never had them chip so fast. I wasn't thrilled with how minimally she trimmed my cuticles or the use of cold water to soak my nails and a lukewarm moist towel instead of a hot one, but having them chip fast is absolutely not ok. I have been super careful not to do anything to risk them chipping, but here we are. I wanted to love this place because the owner seemed very nice and Ari was very nice!! But I will definitely not recommend or return here. read more

This is a brand new salon and I am so so so impressed. Thai was great company AND my nails are perfect. I got tips and dip powder and they look totally natural. I bite my nails and I feel like Thai understands the mindset of a nail biter. She made sure everything was done super well so I wouldn't be tempted to seek out imperfections and end up with my fingers in my mouth. I will go back forever more. read more

Vivian is the best nail tech ever! She's super friendly, sweet, and very talented. She takes her time, doesn't rush, ensures you love your nails, recommends great colors, and makes sure your nails are perfect. She also makes the experience enjoyable. Wonderful experience. I was never one for getting my nails done but this experience converted me into a regular. From the jump, I felt comfortable. The staff is super friendly and the place is immaculate. I have weird allergies and they were very patient with me as I read through various ingredients before deciding on a treatment. Jessica was so precise and attentive doing my pedicure and my toes have never looked this good in my life. Also, the massage chair alone was enough to want to stay there forever. Great experience and I will definitely be coming back soon. read more

My technician was nice, but seemed to really want to get me in and out of her chair as quickly as possible. I have never kept my hands under the UV light for less than 60 seconds per layer, but at one point I timed it and my hand was under the light for 15 seconds. It was truly: finish one hand, immediately change hands to put under the light. I questioned it internally but figured she knew what she was doing. I got my nails done on a Tuesday, by Sunday one of my nails was chipped. Bliss has a policy that any chips within 10 days can be fixed for free, so I went in the next Wednesday to get the nail fixed. Again it was incredibly rushed, 15 seconds max under the light. By Friday the nail chipped again. Two days later another nail chipped. Less than two weeks and the manicure was already chipping. A disappointing experience compared to my first time there.

I went on a Sunday morning and found the front desk a bit frantic despite there being 3 people working there. One pedicure tech finally sat me (for my appointment) but the foot bath wasn't functioning. Amber was my tech and moved me to another chair. While she was pleasant I thought the charge of $120 for a gel manicure and pedicure was too much given the lack luster environment. However, what cemented for me this place is horrible is that within 2 days the gel manicure chipped! First it was 2 nails. Now, 4 days later 3. I called and they wanted me to come back there to have them fixed. I said I would never return and they gave me some money back as I insisted. But the continued deterioration of the service after just days is clear this isn't good good nail spa. I don't recommend it and I wouldn't return.

The finish was also noticeably bumpy, far from the smooth, polished look I expect from a professional manicure. I've attached photos to show the subpar results. While the ambiance and staff friendliness were highlights, the quality of the gel manicure itself was a huge letdown.

She played classical music the entire time and didn't talk which made for a very relaxing experience. For the mani, she seemed a bit more rushed and required a more verbal coaching to address issues that would ordinarily be obvious to a nail artist. She listened to me when I requested edits but still the manicure wasn't properly cured and felt a bit sticky when I left and ended up chipping within a few days. She had the light on a preset that cured only 45 secs and didn't reset without manual reactivation. I had to ultimately have them redone less than a week later. Since I was just visiting, I couldn't return to let her know. Worst of all the services were $150 with tip and it took well over 2 hours to finish. I think this is a solid place for a pedi or one service at a time. But be sure to ask for additional curing time and a day where she may not be the only person working.
