Welp. I was super excited to try this place as I read all of the stellar reviews, so I decided to make an appointment since I was going to be in the area. The man on the phone was pleasant enough and I said they had plenty of availability. There was only one reserved spot for the nail spa in the garage--beware, as they made it sound like they had plenty of space. Otherwise it's street parking and there was none open. Luckily I got the garage spot. I came in at 11:30 on a rainy and cold Thursday. I was even a few minutes earlier--not late at all. No one was in the entry and no one welcomed me. Finally a lady popped out and I told her I had an appointment, so she told me to pick a color. They have TONS of colors and I had barely even looked when my tech came. I told her I hadn't chosen yet and took another few minutes. They brought me back to the pedicure area--it was spacious and immaculate. I will say this: it is one of the nicer nail salons I've been to. The place is very nice and comfortable. I was the only person back there and a tech started on my pedicure. I hadn't chosen a nail gel color and brought some with me to compare--except I didn't get the chance as a grumpy tech started on my manicure at the same time, right away. Usually this is nice and efficient to do both at once, but in this case it felt extremely rushed--and there was literally no one else there but two ladies getting manicures only. And they didn't even ask--most places do. She started to take off my gel and took out a drill. I have breakable nails and drills are also just terrible on the nails--it's the lazy and quick way to remove gel. I asked her if she could use a file instead, to which she replied "the drill is gentle" and proceeded to use it on my nails. She also filed and pushed back my cuticles on my left hand before even doing anything--a soak, gel removal, etc--before even wrapping them with foil for take off. After doing so on both nails and vigorously scraping off the gel (barely gave it any time), she proceeded to file my nails (without asking what shape) and "clean" my cuticles, once again using a drill. She did not soak my fingers at all. She did not even apply a cuticle oil or softener, nor anything to moisturize my nails/hand. It was the laziest and most pathetic manicure I've ever had. A $35 manicure where my nails were scraped and totally dried out. Zero cares at all. Then, once she did all that, she asked what color. I told her I wasn't sure since they didn't give me time to choose--mind me that I can't look through colors with one foiled hand. It had not even been a minute people when the tech, bad attitude and all, says to me "we have an appointment after you". I was pretty shocked how rude she was. I told her I didn't have a chance to pick yet so I am now. She got up and walked away hastily. When she returned she kept pressuring me. I finally just picked cause she made me feel so anxious. This was barely a few minutes. She painted my nails quickly and not meticulously at all. Luckily they turned out fine, but it definitely was not the best manicure I had nor was it worth it given the terrible service. When she finished, she said "okay" and started cleaning. She pulled out those disposable flip flops for me and put them on then walked out of the area. Basically, she made it obvious they wanted me to leave and not wait for my nails to dry. Most places, when not busy, say to relax and take your time. Especially when its 45 degrees and raining out. My pedicure tech was much nicer but the pedicure was only okay. It also seemed a bit lackluster and not worth $35. I would barely call it a foot scrub. And just to confirm: I lingered. No one else came in. There were multiple techs not working. So it didn't appear they had a back to back appointment. Total lie. So, I say to take the 5-star rating with a grain of salt. I have a lot of patience and grace, but this place was just absurd in how rude, unfriendly, and unprofessional they were. Terrible customer service. Overpriced for what you get. Modern Nail Spa, Queen Nails, Oasis Nails--all way better options. I will be sure to never return and steer everyone away from this awful place. read more

I just got an SNS manicure and a regular pedicure and I left crying. I actually cried in the salon, but thankfully was wearing a mask which hid it well as I was so embarrassed to be crying at a nail salon. I have been getting manicures and pedicures regularly for about 15 years and I have never been nicked and cut so many times. I was in PAIN. you can see in the photo how red and irritated my nails are. The woman doing my toes cut me as well. I told both girls often "ow" and "that hurts" but it did nothing. I paid over $100 for a terrible massage and to leave bleeding and in pain. One of my toes and four of my nails started bleeding due to how aggressive and rough the techs were. Ivy did my nails and I believe someone named Nu or Ni did my toes. I would not recommend this place. I am extremely disappointed as this is the 4th salon I've tried since moving to Austin and I left unhappy once again. The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of one is because the salon was clean and offered a spa-like peaceful environment. Update: an hour and a half after I left the salon, I sat on the couch and covered up with a blanket... then after I got up I notice the polish smudged. I saw someone else's review that said this happened to them as well. I put on socks, use blankets, etc. after pedicures/painting my toes all the time and this has never happened. This was my first time getting SNS nails done ever. Overall experience: not friendly, no guidance, took 1.5 hours and changed nail techs midway through. Never said thank you, or want to book your fill ahead of time. Finished product: for as along as it took was just "ok". They hurt my cuticle several times. And overall they are too thick. I wanted to complain but honestly, was tired of sitting that long and wanted to leave. I had to go home and file them down more myself. 2 weeks later: over my gut feeling I decided to give another shot. I just called on Friday to get a fill appointment. The lady who answered said: No appointments. ?? I said; I'll take any, like in a couple of weeks? She flat out said again, NO Appointments. I went here because they have good reviews. This was the exact place I was looking for. I really appreciate how serious they take covid. I'm currently pregnant and honestly it makes me nervous to go get my nails done with nail salons so packed. They are appointment only so there are only 2-3 customers at a time. The technicians all have masks and gloves on. It's calm, peaceful, and very clean and this is the best my nails have ever looked. They show cute animal videos on the big screen and offer you a beverage at the door. With construction on 6th Street and less than ideal parking, it is a little difficult to get to, which the person I talked to on the phone warned me about. This place is worth the hassle. Crystal was super polite, professional, and was great at helping me pick out a color based on a picture I brought with. They offer a week guarantee, so if there's any issue they'll fix it free of charge. Barring any accidents of my own doing, this mani will hold up for considerably longer than that though. I'm so happy I finally had a chance to visit Nail Lounge by Crystal. It's convenient to where I live and I kept driving by it. The atmosphere is peaceful and the staff are very friendly. It's a lot larger on the inside. I think they have about 12 pedicure stations and another area dedicated to manicures. The inside decor is very modern and all the areas were clean and tidy. They worked on my shellac nails during my pedicure and were super efficient with their time. I chose the Aroma Therapy Pedicure for $45. Their pedicure prices range starting at $30. It's worth it. Denise gave the best foot massage and I enjoyed the towel wrap and lavender lotion she used. Khoi did my shellac nails and did a great job. I especially liked the way he shaped my nails and also listened to me when I said I prefer my nails short (I've had some places argue with me about nail length). I was so relaxed leading up to the Christmas holiday! I will definitely be back. read more

I was a loyal customer for two years and even had my go-to manicurist. I had a meeting that ran long and realized I wasn't going to make my appointment. I texted, notifying them I wasn't able to make it and apologized for the missed appointment. The next time I called to reschedule Crystal was so rude to me on the phone, saying I no showed and owed her a cancellation fee. She wouldn't provide me with an appointment with my manicurist. While on the phone I reminded her I texted that day and have been a customer for years, going every 8 weeks. I have never been treated so poorly by a person. It was very jarring. I decided I don't need to support a business that so flippantly will treat a person like that. I feel bad that my manicurist lost a customer...and she has no idea it's because of Crystal. read more

When you mess up in customer service, you take minor losses for the win in the long run (i.e. customers try again or change their reviews from negative to positive). Businesses make mistakes and have the ability to improve. There's no reason someone coming back into your place of business, given a mistake made by the business, should have to pay. My experience here was atypical at best. A two hour pedicure is abnormal. Having multiple layers of a defective nail color painted on (it was supposed to be rose gold by the way) is atypical. Dealing with employee frustration on my body is atypical (and uncomfortable). I came in and asked for a gel manicure and pedicure expecting to pay full price, because I can. I left with incomplete service, and made an agreement with you that given my atypical service, I would be receiving a polish change the next day free of charge. Those are the words that you stated independently given the atypical service (2 full hours, incorrect color, poor results). I left a full tip given your generosity despite my atypical service on the assumption that you would honor your word. Not charging me extra for gel or polish removal (ridiculous) is the least you should do for the waste of my time over two days (total 3 hours) and for the horrible results (which is what I assumed you were doing). My first day in, with the assumption that I was coming back the next day upon paying, I mentioned that you didn't have to decrease the price, but you insisted. You changed your mind twice on my second day there (initially planning to honor your word and fix existing polish, then stating it couldn't be done with the existing polish after I already sat down and started the process, and then eventually asking me to pay for the services I tried to receive the day before--very awkward and uncomfortable discussions, and I'm not shy or uncomfortable ... ever). The issue is the manner in which you handle these situations. Be decisive and honor the promises you make to customers. Make up for your mistakes. Please don't get into the practice of responding in this manner to neutral reviews on Yelp. If anything, it supports the more negative aspects of my review and my experience. Best of luck. read more

Best mani experience in Austin, hands down (no pun intended). When I saw this had opened in my neighborhood I knew I had to stop in. I'd been looking for something within walking distance and I was so excited to find this place! I stopped in on a Saturday and they were able to see me right away without an appointment. The space is brand new, beautifully decorated and clean. Crystal the owner was my technician and she is thorough, fast, and super sweet. I got an SNS mani because I wanted something that would hold up for a little while. She shaped my nails perfectly (not lopsided at all) and covered the edges completely which is always my biggest problem with other places. They are also very gentle with cuticles and instead of trimming them down, they use a buffing tool so I wasn't left with those blunt edges that turn into hangnails. Everything about this experience was lovely and I will for sure be back. Even if you're not in the neighborhood, this spot is worth the trip. There are plenty of seats so I imagine it would be great for a bachelorette group as well as if you just wanted to drop in solo. read more

I very rarely would write a negative review for a small family run business. I also want to preface this by saying that I understand that nail techs work their butts off and are probably doing appointments back to back, but this does not give you the freedom to actually act rude to the people who are paying to keep you in business. And, to be honest, I've never had a nail tech be actually MEAN to me. First, she was upset that I asked for the water to be hotter. She was so upset that I asked her to change the temperature, that she started talking about me to the other nail tech. At one point when I was getting my massage, she laughed and told me my leg was "too heavy" and I needed to use my own strength to hold it up as she was massaging me. I've never been asked something like this!!! Isn't the point of a massage to relax, she was telling me to hold up all of my body weight by myself. Every time I put a tiny bit of weight into our hand, she dropped my leg hard all on the side of the tub to show me she could not hold it. I have a small bruise on the back of my ankle from her dropping my leg down multiple times! During this whole time she was talking and laughing about me. Then, As she was painting my nails, I was having a conversation with my friend and accidentally moved the tiniest bit. She threw her brush down and looked at me and said "you cannot move." She was so mad!!! The craziest thing about the story is, 4 1/2 hours after my pedicure, I was sitting on the couch with a blanket over me and when I pulled the blanket off, my entire big toe had been smeared by the blanket. For some reason, she had put some thing on my toe to keep the polish wet! I have no idea why it was coming off 4 1/2 hours later. Please see pictures below. Crystal is truly an expert at nails and I can't cheat on her! Lol I have been doing my own nails due to covid, but finally decided I deserved a spa day. They always greet me by name, give me the best service and take their time with me. Everything is super clean! They are wearing masks and have you sanitize your hands upon entry. They only allow three staff members and three customers at a time in the salon so there's plenty of space between services. Appointments are required. I switched from long to short but I'm loving my new nails!! They always have the newest, classic and cult faves when it comes to nail colors and are on top of every new trend (ask about the collagen foot mask). I've been going to nail lounge by crystal every week for 2 years. I am probably their most loyal customer. Last week, I had an appointment at 11 am which they called me to reschedule because they overbooked. I was accommodating and said that was okay and I would come in at 6 instead. When I got there at 6 I told them I only had about 30 minutes and I hoped that was okay. They dropped me as a customer and told me I can never come back. They clearly do not value their most loyal customers. I've seen them do this to a lot of other people but I thought they valued me as a loyal customer. Crystal also told me that they don't like doing my nails / it's hard for them to do my nails because they are short. I've always been self conscious of this so to hear a salon owner actually tell me this made me feel so embarrassed and uncomfortable. Like I say, I've seen them do this to many others and I'm not sure why I thought I was immune. Reply to owner's response below: Hi Crystal, I have enjoyed your salon over the past couple of years so I'd like to reply and take the high road to show my appreciation. I'd also like to offer some advice that I think would be very helpful for your business if you're open to it. As a fellow business owner, I know that it is very helpful to let your customers know about your policies up front. For instance, I respect your time and the time of the people there that have worked on me. If I knew that there was not time built in to pick a color and use the bathroom I would come in early to make sure that was done before the appointment time. Other salons I've been to bake in an extra ten minutes to account for color selection. If you would have let me know I needed to be seated and ready right on time, I assure you I would have been early to each appt. I think also being very clear about your no show policy would be really helpful for you reviews. Anyways, just some advice! It felt very sad and hurtful to be banned from coming in when these policies were never expressed to me and I've been such a loyal customer and fan. **DO NOT GO HERE** I scheduled an appointment over the phone. I called back the next day to reschedule to a different day because of some changes in my schedule. When I called back I spoke with Crystal herself who happily rescheduled my appointment. When I got off the phone with her, I realized I didn't receive a confirmation text about the change as I did when I made the initial appointment. I called back immediately and she reassured me that she made the changes on her end. It is now the day of my appointment and when I called to confirm, they told me Crystal is out of the country and they have no more availability for the day.
