I was told they did & thus booked an appt for 1 pm. I rushed to be there on time and checked in at 12:58. I was told to pick out a polish, but I brought my own so I didn't need to. I waited well over half an hour to be taken to a chair. The woman doing my pedicure was not even a little friendly & I thought, "She doesn't like doing this; that's for sure!" Initially, the water was so hot that I said, "ouch," and lifted my feet out of the water. I'm not a sissy and was surprised by how hot the water was. I forced myself to put my feet in and keep them there to get used to it, and she then cooled the water. I wish I had left then. Pushing my cuticles back was completely ineffective. The cuticles weren't softened from the water yet & she went through the motions after applying a blob of cuticle remover in one spot that she didn't spread onto the cuticle around the nail. Just a blob in one spot & then pushed my feet back into the water. I could tell this was going to be a waste of money & my time. Since I have had FIVE spinal surgeries & have multi-level fusions, I figured that it would be better than my own pedis. I couldn't have been more wrong. To cut to the chase, my nails looked BETTER before I came in than when I left & my sister agreed; she sat next to me during my pedi, as she didn't need one and there was an empty chair. When she came over with the "cheese grater", I said, "You aren't going to use a razor/blade? I called and was told on the phone that you do that here." Not wanting to create a scene and embarrass my sister, I accepted her explanation why she wasn't using one. She continued and applied the gel callus remover. When I do my own pedicures, I use either a GOOD "Cala" brand rough skin remover tool or a blade. The device that was used was not effective, nor was the purple artificial pumice, which I also have at home and use with professional callus remover gel. You need to use the cheese grater on DRY feet to really remove dry skin & and it cannot be the cheap, dull grater that was used. Soon the gentleman from the front of the salon came back & spoke to us about the misunderstanding over the use of a blade that somehow he was aware of. I could see from my position, looking down & not even leaning forward in my seat, jagged nail ends on two nails on my left foot. She had applied lotion, massaged my feet/legs & applied a hot towel. Then immediately applied a base coat & 2 successive coats of nail polish & then a top coat as quickly as she could & did NOT paint the tips of the nails nor did she even clean under my nails. In all my pedicures, I've never had the tips of the nails not painted. I couldn't help but notice that she had a woman waiting for a manicure whom she rushed over to start on immediately after putting my sandals on my feet, handing me a piece of paper with her name and 43 written on it. Of course, she thanked me and told me to wait ten minutes before getting up & paying/leaving. While waiting to leave, I was looking at my toes as was my sister. We were BOTH upset about how sloppy the nail polish was applied & confused as to WHAT had happened...I wasn't a walk-in...I'd scheduled an appt ONE HOUR prior, so what had happened in ONE hour that made me wait OVER a half hour & WHY was the woman so unhappy & rushed to finish me? I only tipped $7, which is not like me at all....and my sister, who lives in Sun City, told me I should not have tipped a penny. I did because she lives here & perhaps she will be a future customer. If she is, it will only be because of the cleanliness of the salon, the visual appeal & the convenient location. NOT because of our experience. I'm sure she'll be expecting a better experience. After we were in the car for a while & my feet were completely dry & all the lotions had absorbed well, we BOTH could see DRY skin on the ends of all my toes that I could pick off with my fingernails. Since it was MY own polish, we went home & after removing the dry skin, she repainted my nails. Neither of us has ever worked in a nail salon, yet BOTH of us can do a better job than was done today at this salon. No one wants to throw $50 away, yet that is what I did today. WHO took my call at 11:50 AM, booked my appt for 1 PM, which was apparently the wrong time if I had to wait OVER a half hour AND misinformed me? Had I known the woman who did my pedicure didn't like doing pedis and that your salon doesn't use a blade for callused skin, I wouldn't have WASTED $50.00!! Again, I live in NYS and am here visiting, so how would I know you can't use blades here? I called for THAT reason. Was not going to book an appt if I was told they didn't use a blade. I will most certainly share my experience.

My…read morefriend had an issue with one of her nails so she went back to have them fix it and instead of soaking off her acrylic they just pryed it off, taking some of her actual nail with it and leaving a bleeding hole in the middle of her nail. Yet they continued to go about their business and put a new acrylic on. I personally went through the process of getting mine soaked off and they got extremely sticky and gummy, which is not how the nails should react to the soaking. I would be wary of the acrylics here. I have my suspicions based on those 2 events. Not sure if anything has changed since I've been there, but I won't go back to a place if I can't trust their practices.

There is a place that I used to frequent at Sheridan Plaza where the owner is gruff and unpleasant. Her husband put the polish on so thick that it didn't dry and looked terrible. There was another place next to Marshalls where they rushed me, seemed liked they disliked what they were doing and/or disliked me, and never took all of the old polish off. You could se a ridge line with the old polish under the new and bits of color from the old polish on the edges. There was the place near Belfair Krogers where the girl hurt me so bad when dealing with my ingrown toenails that I yelled in pain and bled. You get the picture. I had just about given up. I realize it is usually the luck of the draw. There are some good nail techs at most salons. I just hadn't found one. I was driving by Pink Polish 2 and pulled in and read reviews. They were mixed. Many of the bad reviews seemed to be older, so I decided to give it a try. I have latched on to Sky, and will not let anyone else do my nails. At first I was just getting pedicures. My toe nails are really difficult to do - the big toenails are painfully ingrown, two toes on my right foot have what is called hammer toe which affects the nail. Sky is a magician - seems to do the impossible - without hurting me! She doesn't rush at all and does a thorough job and is very nice to talk with. As for my fingernails which never grow, she shapes them in such a way, that I found myself having to cut them back in a month because they actually grew! I can't speak for the other nail techs there, and I can't speak for fills and gels, but I can say that for a basic mani/pedi, you can't go wrong with Sky. FIVE STARS!

Unusual request a first but I can see in these times the necessity to keep the germs down. Came here as this was the closest nail place to where I was doing errands. I also chose this place because I love Pink Polish, but learned once inside they are no longer affiliated. Note the vibe in the shop was eerily quiet no music or talking. They were able to take me right away for a regular manicure. I picked a nice OPI color and sat down. It was a pretty good manicure except the person doing my nails only wanted to do one coat of polish. I insisted on two? Crazy the price you pay for a manicure $25. has nearly doubled since Covid and now you don't even want to put on two coats?! No drying station either. The person doing my nails had me pay before polish. I thankfully had cash for the service and tip to make it easier on her. As she made change from where she was seated and didn't have to move. My polish still looks good after three days. Only because I insisted on getting two coats as I have gotten for nearly 50 years of getting my nails done. Sorry I was put in that position that I had to insist on it.
