Nail Genie is definitely your go-to mom & pop salon, nothing super "boujee" or "fancy" but these are places that happen to be the best hidden gems! I truly feel like you get the best bang for your buck here. I have been a regular here since high school as well as my mom and aunt. Lisa has always treated us well, but all the other ladies who work here are very nice too. I got a pedicure ($23) and got my go-to white toes. I hadn't seen Lisa in literally half a year, but when I sat down she said, "White toes again today?". She remembers that I only get white toes haha! She is so personable, and it warms my heart to see her interactions with her regular clients -- they are so loyal to her. A lot of the clients who come here are loyal to this place. and I feel that says a lot about a place! For reference, a gel mani/pedi as of 3/18/2022 is $25 each! ($50 for both) Thats a GREAT deal! I also used to get my acrylics done here all of high school before I ventured off to more fancier acrylics places, but just know that they do do them here! I digress... I came in for both a mani & pedi. One of the lady said it was $45 for pedi with gel & $50 for acrylic set mani with gel ( which was fine ). Then the lady adds an extra $2 for PLASTIC BAG TO COVER THE FOOT TUB . One it's very unsanitary that they do not use bags on the tub, two she reused almost every nail product on my feet ( which I'm not tripping about ) BUT IT WAS NOT SANITIZED with alcohol correctly , and threw $2 for a plastic bag VERY INSANE AND RIPOFF Moving forwards , it has been less than a week and my acrylic fell off. The lady did not care to scuff enough of my nail bed which would help my nails last nor did she cut my cuticles so my nails doesn't get old fast !! So finally after many many other unsatisfied places in the Fremont/ Newark area I gave nail genie a shot! Only thing I wish I would have known was to start coming here sooner! I am always seen by Rose, and from beginning to end she never disappoints. I recommended making a appointment in advance because she can book up quickly. I got a fill and a pedi and both came out pretty good (I'm a REAL picky person and travel from SJ to Newark to get my nails done somewhere else - but they were on vacation, and I desperately needed a fill and pedi so I thought I'd see what was nearby my other salon. although, they didn't clean up the polish on one of fingers and one of my big toes had a tiny gap of missing polish (told you I was picky!), I was overall happy with how my nails and toes looked. I hardly do reviews but i had a bad experience so putting this out there so you find a better place/save your $, I'm not going back. I called ahead of time to make an appointment for a gel mani and regular pedi but they asked I come in asap cause it was about to get super busy. Luckily I was available so I went in within 10 min from calling. I noticed they had a cash only sign when I walked in and told them I didn't know it was cash only but I could grab $ at the chase around the corner after. They said they take card but there's an extra fee I said that was fine but they insisted I pay in cash and that I go immediately to chase, so I went and came back quickly since they made it seem like they were about to get super busy when we talked over the phone. They had a person do my pedi, it felt rushed and she was super rough with my cuticles. They had 2 ppl work on my mani one removed cuticles also very rough and was supposed to shape my nails. I asked for almond shape, she kept them square so when I asked her to shape them to my liking the owner/manager? Walked by and said they fix that after they apply gel... never heard of that but I said ok. They had another lady apply gel and it was done poorly... I didn't notice till after I left but she didn't apply it evenly on my nails and looked super low on my nail bed. It looked like I had the mani 2 days in already; also didn't shape my nails as I asked. And of course it didn't even last more than 3 days. They charge $25 for gel mani and $22 for reg. pedi. On the lower end of pricing, from other places I've been to but bad experience overall super rushed, didn't feel like they listened to me, seemed so eager to get me out (not the relaxing experience I hoped for), and gel mani didn't last. Wouldn't recommend, and unfortunately I'm still on the lookout for a nail salon that I can call my regular spot here in union city. read more

Very disappointed in the service. I came in to get powder nails removed and the removal process wasn't gentle or thorough and was very rushed. When I pointed out afterwards that my nails were jagged and uneven from quick, poor filing I was told no they're fine. When I pointed out there was still left over residue from the powder on my nail I was also told no they're fine, but I insisted and she hurriedly touched up a couple spots.
