I've been getting my nails done for 30 years, and this was the worst experience I've had. Two nails fell off within days. When I went back, the manager blamed it on my nails being "oily," even though I had just washed my face and used lotion -- and in the past they told me my nails were "too dry." The technician (Kim) who fixed it was rude, made faces, talked about me to coworkers, couldn't find the right color, and even left me under a UV light that wasn't turned on until I called her back twice. She rushed the job, didn't clean the nails properly, and told me I was "done." Poor quality, unprofessional behavior, and terrible customer service. I came to Nail Genie for a simple pedicure and left with an infection that required a hospital visit. The technician who worked on me was rough from the beginning; throwing my feet around, cutting my nails much shorter than I asked, and completely changing their shape. When I told her I was in pain, she said it was fine and continued. During the pedicure, she aggressively dug into my big toe to remove an ingrown nail, yanked it out, and caused immediate redness and pain. She didn't apologize or check if I was okay. By the time I got home, my toe was swollen and throbbing, and a few days later it became infected. I had to seek medical care and cover those costs myself. On top of that, the polish was uneven and messy, she tried to overcharge me by $5, refused a student discount I'd previously received, and kept asking for a tip despite the poor service. Did a express Mani Pedi a couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday morning. Had someone for a manicure and another person for a pedicure at the same time. The person that did my manicure did not do a good job at my cuticles and they were worse off days after. Neither employees helped me put my sandals back on after the service. Nor did they fix my sleeves that they asked me to pull up. Since no one offered to help me, I had to do it myself and literally ruined my manicure trying to button my sleeve. I took the majority of the photos still in the parking lot, immediately after getting them done. I added another from a few hours later, of two of the nails already chipped off. I went in to get acrylics removed, and then a manicure. They didn't even remove the full acrylic nail like I needed. the square shape of the nails are because of the leftover acrylic. I'm not the type to complain, but I had to ask the lady if she can go over my nail again because missed a lot of the nail from the side. She said she wasn't able to because it won't cover it. I've been a customer at Nail Genie for well over a decade. I've been bringing my daughter here also for the last 5 years consistently. The experience has been hit or miss, in terms of nail design execution and acrylic overlay application for both. You definitely can't rely on taking a picture of a design & expecting the nail technician to replicate it-- hit or miss for sure. Yet, I still tip my go-to technician generously pretty much every time. But today I'm leaving another review because after leaving unhappy with the conversation & execution around my design the first time last week, I came back for the 3rd time to get it fixed, it started peeling. I had asked for the chrome to be 2 layers last week when I first got the design (chrome tip) but was told it wasn't possible & that black polish underneath would make it darker. I was hesitant but followed my technician's recommendation. Today, I finally had the polish underneath taken off and insisted on 2 layers of chrome & it worked! It's darker and finally correct. The problem is that my nail technician charged me $30 for the nail color/design change! That's half of the base charge for a fill. I tipped my technician $20 the first time even though I was unsatisfied with the design. Charging me this much to fix something that they should've executed the first time is already unfair, but the price seems also unfair. But to make matters worse, my nail technician asked if I wanted to tip for the nail color/design change! I've already paid $100 for a design that still isn't executed exactly properly. This is a reminder that you get what you pay for at this salon-- regardless of how you tip or how long you've been a loyal customer. I guess it's time to look for a new nail tech & salon. read more

BEFORE YOU GO - Acrylics are not removed properly - Some nail colors are unavailable/not always accurate to the swatches My first time was by the lady who sits at the station right in front of the door as you walk in. Loved my first set, I just chose the wrong color My second time I liked my set a lot (kind of grown out in the photo). I also brought my cousin and we kept choosing nude swatches for her but when we saw the bottle, the color would.. not be even close to what we imagined I guess. The only issue with my mani was probably when my technician was cleaning up the red, it kind of smeared onto the nude color. my mani lasted really well, but ofc in due time, it started lifting so I went back to get my acrylics removed. As someone who picked up doing my own nails in the pandemic, I knew they need to be filed and soaked for the least damaging removal (obviously I know acrylics naturally are damaging). I decided to go to the salon since I figured they would be more experienced with this. I also told my technician the acrylic was kind of caught on my natural nail on my index finger. Sadly, they just clipped the fake extensions and used another fake nail to slide under the acrylic to peel it off. On my index finger, it HURT. I just asked for shellac but immediately removed it when I got home cus I hated it on my stubby nails lol. My pic shows how much of my nail was ripped off and how raw it is In hindsight, I guess I shouldnt have expected that they'd have time to remove them properly.. it's just disappointing. I wish I could give no stars. We made an appointment for 10 am for three people . All three of us were taken at 10:05 we hit there at 9:45 a walk in was taken before us when we actually had appointments! I sit in the chair and explain I have dip powder I get escorted to the front of the store to pick my color. While doing that a women walks in. My nail tech asks what happened? The client said her nails where to thin an broke she needed them fixed. She advised the lady to take the seat I was sitting in ! When I questioned what was going on she replied of this my client wait little bit she have appointment.WTH. I was sitting in the chair. 8 min later another employee shows up to do my nails. Again explained this was dip and needed to be removed so the new powder can go on. She does not remove the old powder files them down like acrylic and says, better for you nail more strong ! No Tina that is not how it works . She then say my new powder is darker so it's fine . Well the pics below don't say fine . Waste of my time. My nails need to be redone and I'm out $50 smdh.
