Lan is the best!!!! She carefully takes care of my pedicure needs and takes her time with my toes. I had a bad experience about 20 years ago with another pedicure place and my toe nail eventually fell off completely and never came back normal! Lan has been helping me get key toenail back in better condition and I can honestly say I think it's working. She said it will probably take a few visits to make sure she can remove all of the bad nail before it can grow back on the nail bed normally. She and everyone at the salon make me feel so welcome. I brought my mom to Lan because of her fungus problem on her toes. Her toenail is yellow, discolored and thick. Lan just didn't carefully clipped off the dead nails but cleaned and cured it without pain. It looked so much healthier and better after. Today I had my first experience with a pedicurist. I had numerous ingrown toe nails and an ingrown callus on the bottom of my foot. Lan seems to be very skilled and conscientious, and her service is very affordable. In the past I would have gone to Kaiser for pediatric services, but Kaiser no longer handles things like callus removal and ingrown toenails. I'm glad I've found Lan Tran. UPDATE: She's moving out of state (from California to Idaho), effective 08/18/2018 So sad to lose her - her wonderful, humble business & such a loyal clientele/following that have gotten services from her these last 20 years (as I have been told) - she's the lady that doesn't just trim & clean my hooves (and fingers, at times), but she's an impeccable woman who's really passionate at what she does. Her labor of love is poured at every time I come in, and I only have positive words to say at her craft. A long-time friend of mine had recommended me to her back in the day (when this pedicure thing was new to me & sort of "weird" in a sense, and I was like "wait, WTF... guys get pedicures?!" LOL) - and I thought to myself, why not get my feet taken care of, since I was going on vacation, & I'd wanna look at least decent from the toes up, before I walk around in flip flops & hit the day clubs in Vegas?! From there, she moved into Silk Tek Nail Care, which was a few blocks down, next to the original Sala Thai, in that rickety office building that's now been demolished, AND then, followed them to their current location on Fremont Blvd. at the Centerville District, where ample parking awaits in the back & a much easier place to get to (since I come from San Leandro.... or when I get off work in Hayward, I come straight to her, as most of my bookings are on weekday afternoons & rarely on a Saturday morning) - it's super easy to book with her, as she provides her personal cell phone number, and I just send her a text to schedule myself (just know to book a few days or a week in advance), very convenient & personable, indeed! Another plus factor, is she's very easy going and conversational/sociable, and can chop it up with you for days; and the fact that she's very vocal about her faith, I knew that it won't be boring for me at all! I've gotten to know her so well, her life, and how she values her time & craft. So sad to see her go, but I know that she'll be in a better environment (both financially and spiritually) - and I can't wait 'til she comes back to California! Lan Tran is talented & dedicated to helping you with your nail problems. She's an awesome person who's really passionate about her work. Regular nail salons aren't trained to remove fungus, ingrown toenails, or overgrown skin. I have overgrown skin around my big toenails. My bunions cramp up my toes, and pressure from wearing close-toed shoes causes the skin to callous around the nail. The problem isn't as visible because the overgrown skin is layers deep...the problem was exacerbated by regular nail salons that cut the skin & nails too deep. Lan removed these layers of painful calluses with patience & persistence. At first it was a bit painful, but got better with each visit. Now my nails are pain-free. Overgrown skin is reoccurring but with much less intensity after each visit. And now I bring my mom with me to the appointments. My mom has both her big toenails removed due to fungus & the skin burned. So she has half of her big toenails & her other toenails are blackened. Lan meticulously cleaned her nails and removed the thick skin surrounding her big toe bed. Overtime, with this cleaning & maintenance we hope her nails can regrow. My first visit was perfection. My poor neglected feet got some important attention and Lan provided useful care advice. When I reported for my second appointment, I was escorted to a basin next to one of her clients, whose pedicure she had just begun. After being in the bowl for 20 minutes, I looked over from the book I was reading and saw that Lan had just begun the clients' other foot. That meant 20 more minutes of soaking. When I told Lan that I had come in expecting to be given service at the time we agreed upon, she said that my feet needed to soak a long time. Anyway, I left, wet feet and all. It would have been nice to have discovered a provider of manis and pedis that doesn't make so many appointments that clients are left waiting and waiting. I have had a problem with toenail fungus on my two big toes for years. Medicine prescribed by my doctor on two occasions as well as numerous over-the-counter topical treatments were of no help. A few weeks ago I fell and hurt my back, making it impossible for me to bend over and trim my toenails. I turned to Yelp to find a business in Fremont for a pedicure and saw photos on Lan Tran's listing of clients with toenail fungus issues and decided to schedule an appointment with her. I am very happy I did. In addition to trimming my 8 good toenails, she painlessly removed the portion of the large toenails with the fungus, leaving about 20 percent of the unimpacted toenails. She also provided me with a bottle of Tea Tree Oil to be applied twice daily that will ensure the fungus doesn't return as the nails grow out. I could not be more pleased with the service provided and will return on a regular basis in the future and turn over maintenance of my toenails to Lan Tran. My next job is to go shopping for a pair of open-toed sandals, something I wouldn't dare wear with the ugly toenails that are now history! read more
