Walked in to the salon at 9:30 am on a Wednesday and there was only one gal in the salon without any customers present. She asked what I needed done and I stayed that I needed a fill. She said come back in about an hour because she had a customer with an appointment coming in. I told her that I would be back later or check another salon. I left to run another errand that ended up taking about an hour anyway. I returned to the salon at around 10:30 am and now there are 3 halls working. The original gal was doing a pedicure and the other 2 were just sitting there. I again stayed that I simply needed a fill. The gal says that they are too busy today as they have an appointment coming in at 11. I told her the gal told me to come back in an hour. The hall that told me to come back days she never said that. She says she told me to go to another salon. I don't know what is going on here but they are definitely playing games. When I walked out they started laughing. I have been going to TJ nails for years. Mimi has always been my go-to for a pedicure. I am not big on designer nails, but always get a basic manicure by anyone available at the time of my pedicure. They need a shop facelift, but y'all know how it goes with people doing your nails. read more

I was shocked at just how bad my nails turned out. I asked for a gel manicure and the end result was horrible. There were bubbles, clumps, and all around a really messy job. I brought this up with the artist and she said it looked fine to her. She did not fix them and was annoyed that I kept asking her to take another look. She either lied to me to get me to leave, which is bad or she genuinely thought they looked good which is somehow worse. The salon itself is also pretty dirty and outdated. I got waxed here yesterday and they ruined my face. The lady waxed the same area over and over, complaining that my hair was "too thick." At the end, they put vaseline on instead of something like aloe...Pictures attached where you can see the damage. I am sobbing because I went in to at least get a refund and the same lady said my hair was "thick" and another coworker said maybe "You just have sensitive skin." I have gotten waxed plenty of times and it didn't result with my skin being ripped off my face. Honestly it was microaggressive at best, racist at worst. I have been coming. Here for a while normally I see Lisa for my pedicure. Today I called before I walked in spoke to Victoria thinking I was going to see Victoria. I saw someone else. She did not remove anything basically washed my feet and sugar scrubbed and then dried it I was really upset despite me telling her I have cuticles I need then cut and the bottom of my feet are still dirty. I told Victoria that I am not happy but I still paid them half and left to city nails where she cleaned it up so nicely and removed all dirt and cuticles. I'm so disappointed especially because I am a regular customer here and Victoria and Victoria knows this I won't be returning. If your getting a pedicure ask for Victoria, Helen, or Lisa. They are the only ones who know what they are doing. Other then that don't take a chance. For me I work hard for my money and the last thing I want to do is throw it away. read more

This no frills nail salon is my go to manicure fix when I'm pressed for time in between errands and after school pick up. I always opt for the manicure basic for $22 which includes nail trimming/shaping, buffing sea scrub, hot lotion massage, a warm towel wipe down, and last, polish. The result is always satisfactory and the color lasts for a good two weeks, granted I am not doing any obstacle course racing or runs. The massage chair is so-so and the rinsing sinks for the feet are covered with plastic that is replaced with each client. The nail color selection is not impressive, nor do they carry top brands. The price for shellac was the same and the place has a 4-star average so I thought if give it a try. The man at the front was my hygienist (I'm assuming his name is Jim unless there are other males that work here). He seemed to be the boss as he also manned the register. At first, my nail professional was rather pleasant. However, each time he applies a coat of shellac polish onto my nails, he'd fail to take off excess polish from cuticle and around the nail bed so I would politely point it out to him before putting my hand under the uv lamps. When he was finished, I was able to see my hands at a different angle for the first time. To my disappointment, there were several nails w/clear and blue polish around the nail beds, on the skin. I could also feel polish, sticking like glue to my skin, under the nails as well. I pointed out that one of the nails was messed up and asked if he could file one of the nails down bc I could feel it was jagged. And this is where things went south and quick. The man began to get very angry, very fast. He was raising his voice, essentially screaming at me and saying something in broken English. I truly could not understand a thing, but I could see he was angry. He said something about if I had good nails, too weeks? I was so upset I seriously felt like crying. Here I was with terrible terrible shellac (which mind you, was my birthday present to myself) and instead of fixing them, this guy was yelling at me. I just paid and bolted out of there, no tip. Lo and behold, once the nails grew out (within a few days) the poor application caused the shellac to peel from the bottom. Avoid like the plague! Never stepping foot here again. read more

I was given a $50 gift card so I went last night and had a gel manicure and basic pedicure. Upon leaving she said that will be $57.00. I gave her the gift card plus $7 and then an additional $10 (originally meant for tip) She said you owe me $2.00. I said, no I don't. I gave you $67.00. She said the gift card was paid with a credit card so it is really only $48.00. A gift card is for the value of the card. How the other person purchased it is on them. If you have a $2.00 transaction fee for credit cards it should be charged to the person using the credit card. She looked at me very confused and said you still owe $2.00. I said I gave you $67.00 so you have enough and I left. Even if the gift card was for $48.00 she was given $10 extra. What terrible service to ask me for $2.00. She should have just taken it from the extra $10 I gave her. I understand it is only $2.00 but it is the principle and the transaction fee should be charged when the transaction is taking place. If I walked in and asked for $50.00 gift card and I only had a credit card they should say, we have a $2 transaction fee so your card will be charged $52.00 today or would you like the gift card for $48.00? read more

I came to this nail shop after 5 years. I came looking for the previous owner Jim, but he was no longer there. Prices have gone up since 5 years ago. The lady at TJ's did a good job and took her time. I usually always go for the pink and white or glitter gel. Their prices are on the average for for glitter fill it is $35. Which is not bad. She does take her time and they a lot of variety. This time around I picked a pink glitter with gold. Probably not a good choice because it was so loud, but what she did was amazing. They also have good spa chairs that are newer than the last time I was there. Pedicures start at $22. I will be back here again. I gave this place a shot based on good reviews and it was local. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the acrylic fumes, not so pleasant. They seated me immediately without an appointment which was a plus. I got a basic pedicure and it was fine except it would hurt when she would cut around my big toe. Right after I got my pedicure (done by a lady) both big toes were red and in pain. Now one of my toes is INFECTED b/c she cut my skin too much and irritated it. :( They appear to sterilize their tools b/c they bring them out in little plastic bags but who knows. They must not wash their foot tubs well because if it wasn't the tools it was most likely the tub. Won't return. Update: They were nice enough to return my money (even though I don't care about the money..I really want my old toe back.) My toe has gotten worse since I originally wrote this review and I am now on oral antibiotics. I also got minor surgery TO REMOVE part of my TOENAIL at the doctors because it was infected so badly. She definitely fixed my chipped nail with a little bit of powder and went for a summer bright orange. I forgot the lady who did my nails but they're really good! Definitely recommend.
