Writing this review as someone who has never asked for a refund on nails. I went in two weeks ago in person to schedule an appointment and show them images of the nails that I wanted asking if they could do it and that I only wanted to schedule the appointment if they could do what I was asking. I emphasized that the appointment is for potential engagement nails so they needed to look good. The first tech began filing my nails into an almond shape after I told her I wanted to keep them in the shape that they were already in. She continued to file my pinky nail into an almond shape to the point she filed a cut into my skin. I told her that was not the shape that I wanted, but she proceeded to file the second finger in an almond shape. Again, I told her that is not what I wanted, and that it needed to be more square on top and rounded on the corners. She filed my third nail all the way down to where it was significantly shorter than all of my other nails. At this point, they changed the nail tech for me. Before beginning to paint my nails, I asked them if they could do the image. If not then to let me know and we can do something else. They said they could do a cat eye on the tip. What I ended up with was the most basic cat eye manicure for $60. I would like to use the term manicure uselessly as I had to ask them to cut my cuticles. I paid, still left a 10% tip, and tried to appreciate what I did have. I did however go back 30 minutes later with the receipt to ask for a refund since seeing them in different light they are not at all what I wanted. I was told I could receive a refund only if the polish was soaked off. I declined this offer since that would only further damage my nails, leave me with nothing for pictures, and was on a time constraint. The staff was kind, but absolutely would not recommend going here if you want a specific style or nice looking nails. read more

I visit the Harbortown Nail Bar every 3-4 weeks to get a dip mani and a luxe pedi (sometimes I switch up the pedi type depending on what new type they have). Previously I would visit other establishments closer to my home in Arkansas, or other places while on travel vacations. Harbortown Nail Bar is by far the best for consistent/high quality nail work, best technicians anywhere. The salon assistants/receptionists are courteous, patient, and amazing. But when I sat down and asked for a French, I was told the tech could only paint my nails since I hadn't booked a "design."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I get it if I had wanted something intricate, but a French manicure feels like a basic skill any nail tech should be able to do. I decided to just go with clear gel and not make a big deal out of it, but I left pretty disappointed. She filed my nails all the way down without asking, even though I had very healthy natural nails and just wanted them cleaned up. I walked out with short, bare-looking nails for $40 -- which honestly felt like a waste. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What made it worse was the atmosphere. The tech next to me was chatting with her friend about whether she'd leave early depending on if someone came in for a design -- all while I'm sitting there being told I can't get one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]No one offered to help or be flexible, which just came off as unprofessional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the overall vibe wasn't welcoming -- everyone was talking amongst themselves in another language, clearly about clients.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For a salon in Harbortown, I expected better service and more effort to make things right. I won't be back. If you're looking for a salon that actually listens and delivers what you want, Nailology in Germantown is 100% worth the drive. I always leave there happy. read more
