I went to the shop For a quick repair to Concourse location. The black flamboyant, sassy boy that works here is very rude and nasty. It seemed that they were putting me off because I only needed one nail repair versus a filling or a full set. I guess I wasn't spending enough money. When I asked when someone would get to me because they were putting people who came after me before me, The sassy boy was rude and told me that I could leave if I didn't wanna wait. I observed many Black Women who were unhappy with the Service. And the nail tech seem to be very nonchalant and did not care. Have gone here a few times purely because of proximity to work, and they're consistently disappointing. I usually get gel or dip manicures. I like to request OPI colors I've liked before, and they often act annoyed and want you to pick from one of their cheap brands (that chip within 5 days). They rush through it. First time my dip was way too thick, then they got it all over the skin around my nails and didn't clean it up. Most recently the gel was splotchy and translucent in spots. Looks like my 12 year old sister could've done a better job at home, yet I still spent $50 read more

I went there and got my nails done for the first time, because I live within the area. My nail tech was very nice ,however, I could tell she was very inexperienced. My dip nails was super thick. They had no gradient. They look like Chiclets ( the candy) stuck on my fingers. What's worse by the third day they were already chipping!! by the end of the week I barely have much left on my nails . This is one week guys!! I was charged 50 bucks. I left a five dollar tip ;$(55) wasted! the worst experience ever I shouldn't have even tipped at all. I've never had freshly done nails not make it even past one week and I don't do any physical work., I wear gloves when I do my dishes. It's not normal. They were ugly and bulky the only positive was that they did not have the color that I wanted, but one of the other nail techs recommended a beautiful color that I liked. Biggest issue: UNSANITARY. No gloves while touching my toe that was bleeding from cuticle trimming. (Repeatedly touched the blood with bare hands.) I am (or was) a regular customer here. It has always been hit or miss, but 75% of the time I get a pretty decent manicure and pedicure. But last week was particularly bad. I went for a mani/pedi. The tech proceeded to trim my cuticles on my toes... at one point she cut so deep I was bleeding. I had to tell her to spray some alcohol on it because at that point I was worried that her instruments were not even clean. All this time, she was not wearing gloves... she proceeded to "pat" the blood on my toe with her bare hand. I was horrified--a definite health code violation. After that experience I was debating whether to even proceed with my manicure but I had an event to attend that evening so I let her go ahead and do my manicure. She finished and it looked OK, so I paid and left. I got outside in the sunlight and saw how clumpy and globbed on the polish was. One hand was a totally different color from the other (I think she lost track of how many coats she had applied) I immediately went back in and showed the manager my manicure. She really does a good job as a manager, but she was going to have the same tech "fix" my nails. There was no way I was going to allow that, so I left. Now a few days later, my gel polish on my toes has completely changed color and looks awful--my toe is all scabbed up and nasty looking. I paid $135 for this... and had given a $30 tip on top of that--which I would not have given had I seen the way my nails looked once I got out of the shop. I work hard for my money. $165 gone... and possibly now an infected toe) just awful. Update: my money was refunded. Thank you for that, but I still will not return. read more

I have been to the Gloss Nail Salon on poplar in Memphis, TN several times now. The experiences there have overall been better than other nail salons. They are busy most of the time, so it is good to maybe plan on going during an off day or not on a Saturday. The wait time is usually more on the weekend. The staff has been detailed and thorough in shaping, cleaning and grooming the nails. I had a really good experience with a Staff member named Dom who did a nice job on my manicure one time. Overall, this place or salon does pretty good at providing manicure/pedicure services. read more

First of all. I'll be positive in the beginning. The staff is friendly and they don't waste time. However, they asked my friend next to me if she wanted a manicure with her dip, they didn't ask me. My cuticles are awful and it's off putting that a nail tech couldn't recognize that and offer. They also set the dip with a fan, not a light. Which is so confusing to me. My nails have a weird texture to them and specks of glitter in my thumb nail. Second of all. They ended up charging my card $1045...made my heart stop. The manager (I'm assuming) was very nice but once I called back, someone else apologized and quickly tried to get me off the phone. I was so excited to come here for the first time. As the "nail tech" Mi Mi started drilling my nails I felt a bad sting! She had drilled my skin off. I started bleeding on the pedicure seat (because she began my nails as I was finishing my pedicure) and she said nothing but CONTINUED DRILLING. Beyond unsanitary. She then got upset with me because I asked her to stop. Excuse me!? She threw my hand and walked away and said "well you had hang nail" I consulted with the manager and all she did was offered me a band aid, and asked if I still wanted to get my nails done. With an open wound! My under skin is exposed! She said "well he can just do all the other nails first" I'm so disappointed. This place needs to be shut down immediately! My experience was fine except for getting burnt with the hot stones. The actual bad bit was watching a nail tech drop her platter of clean tools onto the dirty floor and then proceeding to pick them up and use them without washing anything off on a young child's set of feet. Yikes. The floors are disgusting. Adding more now that I got my partner's feedback. Didn't do well with his toenails at all compared to cheaper salons we've frequented before. Really bad craftsmanship - pumiced my non-callused toe skin to the point of pain and me pulling my foot away, didn't remove heel calluses, angry only half-calf massage, no leg rinse so particles left on my feet and legs, sloppy polish job... desk guy offered someone to clean it up but I was too upset to stay longer. Larry clipped my skin around all of my nails for no reason. The skin was not hard, it was soft. I asked him if you clip my skin wouldn't make it hard and he stated "sometimes". Why would I want hard skin I let the manager Ken know about it and he stated that, he clipped his skin around some other customers fingers and that's what they want and I stated that is no excuse. Each customer is different. Any business person would know that. I feel like I'm still being generous with 3 stars. I set an 11:15 am appointment today with 6 people, a bridal party. We weren't looking for special treatment, just to be able to get in and out at a certain time. They were PACKED when we got there. I'm glad they're doing great business, but what's the point in setting an appointment if I cant get in at the time I set it? We only waited about 10 extra minutes, but what I'm bothered by is the fact that it's 2pm and I'm just now leaving. I have an hour to get ready for rehearsal, everyone else was out of there by 12:30 so I felt awkward, too. First of all, 15 extra bucks for a "design" which ended up being very uneven stripes and none of them are even placed how I wanted them to be. I waited 15-20 minutes for someone else to come do these stripes because the guy who originally painted my nails decided he couldn't do them. I'm wildly irritated. I still paid for it all and tipped, but I will absolutely not be going back. I'm fed up with this place. I work in hospitality, so I get it's frustrating to Jen dealing with customers, but I'm a really patient person, and fairly simple. My cuticles look freakin awful and the guy who was painting my nails had such dirty fingernails I used to love this place. It's just not the same anymore. What I paid today I could pay for professional art at Graffiti and that's where I'll be taking my money from here on. 7/26/2018- This was my first time going to Gloss Bar at crosstown. It was recommended by a friend who loved their work and wide range of colors. When I walked in at 7 PM I was greeted and asked what services I wanted. I asked for a dip mani/pedi. The young lady Tee who did my pedi was awesome. She was attentive,helpful, and had a great personality. As I am getting my pedi, manicurist Kelly comes and begins my manicure. Kelly is quiet and seems to have a bit of an attitude. She puts my hands in cold water and I had tell her that I did not want to reach over myself to soak the other hand which she responded with. "Oh, I forgot". What did you forget miss, you customer service skills? Then it was time to get dipped. This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. She did not file my nails correctly. I had tipped placed on my index finger which are crooked. And the dip is the sloppiness job I have every seen. I told her" I know your going to fix this". and she buffed my nails until 3 of my fingers were raw. I asked her "Why is she not using the drill to shape the dip, and she respond with "She doesn't use the drill". I asked to speak with her manager and the manager asked her to smooth it out with the drill but it was still awful. The manager was nice, didnt charge me, and asked if I could come back the next day to fix it. 7/27 Before I made the 25 min drive across town I called and manager said that she was going to change to get my nails fix because it's new services. I will not ever pay for horrible service and customer should pay for under trained tech mistakes. WORST dip manicure ever. Within 4 days it was already chipping. I've had dip before at another salon and they did 10+ layers, here at Gloss she did 2 layers and they felt very thin and not durable. Sure enough the first nail chipped on day 4. I called and asked to go in for a repair and they were so RUDE. The man at the front desk made me point to the lady who did my nails the first time and go to her again. She asked "what did you do?" with an attitude. She the very passively aggressively fixed the chipped nail. Now again day 8 another has chipped. Don't go to this location. The management has changed. They don't want to service you if you are getting basic mail services. They try to up-sale you with GEL polish which chips within a week. Came for a pedicure and manicure with nail designs. They refused because I didn't not want the cheap chipping gel polish they are pushing. I want basic OPI nail polish and was frowned upon for the request and the guy at the front started speaking in their native language to the tech. I don't like that. Speak English in America. Hello fellow yelpers! I haven't given a one star in a very long time but I definitely have to speak on this place. My mom and I went there because she is allergic to the fumes that most nail shops have and she told me that this place was really airy and didn't have that nail shop smell. So I was excited to try them out. it's in a very nice renovated building with a lot of great amenities. However, this experience was not what I expected. I will start with the positive. The shop is nice. High ceilings and plenty of circulation. It was a week day so there was no wait. They offer you something to drink which could be a soda, tea or champagne(or what they consider champagne). They actually have a drink menu and with those prices they drinks need to be included. The staff was nice. Ok on to the one star experience. I asked for a regular pedicure which was $35 and the guy Manuel who worked on my nails was very inattentive. He had his headphones in. He was listening to his music singing to himself. The most insulting thing was he wore his mask beneath his nose and was coughing while he was doing my nails!!! That was enough for me to want to get up and walk away however I did not want to disappoint my mother so I sat and endured it. My toes look almost as bad as they did when I walked in and I haven't had my toes done since the spartan race so that should say some thing! Bas nail polish job the bad shaping job the bad cuticle cutting. It's just bad. I spoke to a manager afterwards and I told him that before I posted this, I wanted to let him know what was going on because it's just disappointing when you want to have a good time with someone like your mom and you're from out of town from and you have an experience where you feel like you're being undervalued as a customer. I could've gone to a nail shop that was right around the corner from my house and pay probably eight dollars less and got a better job. As a matter of fact when I get back to Hawaii I'm going to get a polish change just so I can have my nails buffed down and actually painted the way they're supposed to be painted! I do not recommend this place. if you want to go to the building, to take a look at the art and have some ice cream and look at the beautiful architecture since the remodeling, that is awesome but do not go to gloss! I came in for a pedicure with my other two friends earlier today. We all got three pedicures, two of us got the Gloss Signature and one of us got the Detox. I had Lin. She doesn't talk much and I didn't mind. My water was nice and warm, and she asked what I wanted to drink. It was nice, my friend's tech started talking about our day and all. What caught me is that they later began talking in Vietnamese that they talk to us only for just the "tips", and hardly know any English. My hot stone wasn't hot enough, a little rough with the nipper, hardly scrubbed my heels, and she rushed the last massage (under 2 minutes). The paint job was nice but didn't paint all the way to the sides of my nails especially when the top coat isn't covered all the way. read more

There was no UV light offered - never had a dip manicure without it. Also, my nail color has specks of a different dip color in it too.
