I went here with high hopes just to be disappointed. Let me start by saying the atmosphere was super welcoming but I ended up leaving 2 hours later with MULTIPLE BLEEDING NAILS AND CUTICLES. After drilling away at my nails a million times, the first color that I had, had to be taken off because my nails looked gigantic and bulky due to her putting 3 coats on them. She then proceeded to file away at my nails and cuticles for the 100th time (not joking) even while one was bleeding. I then requested for clear just so I could hurry the process and leave. This place has been my go to since day one! TJ Nails was the first nail salon I went to when I moved to Memphis/Cordova and I haven't gone anywhere else. Ann is an incredible manager who really takes the time and effort to get to know her clients. After my first visit, she knew my name by heart, remembered small things about my family, and when she didn't have a specific color I wanted, she literally ordered it for me. Last appointment I had she put on a Christmas movie because I told her how much I love Christmas movies and gifted me with a little Christmas gift. This is a place that truly cares about their customers and makes it a point to turn first comers into regulars! They stay up to date on all the latest trends (including sweater and sugar designs) and they also have a rewards program so that's always a plus! I finally tried them out after reading the reviews. I called before I went and they were not busy, but started picking up a bit once I was almost done. I'm due any day now and truly needed to take time to pamper myself and relax...they took care of me and made sure I did just that. Now, I've been to many fancier places, but you pay way too much and they're overwhelmed and rush you out to the next client. This was not the case. I felt comfortable and other than maybe not the neatest job I've ever had, she did not cut me or nick me and they even gave me a cute little gift for my first time. One of the best nail places I've been to. Drove from east Memphis to try it out & they didn't disappoint! Got a full set & pedi for 60$. It's a little bit on the pricey side but you're definitely paying for the service. My husband & kids were waiting in the car on me than decided to come in after awhile & they made them feel welcome as well. They talked to the kids & my husband and played with the kids. I use to love this nail shop and Ann. Ive been going here for about a year now and after today I will not be back anytime soon. Last month I received a bad set my gel polish was pealing off and 4 nails came off within a week which sucked because I was out of town. She said her light was going out and repainted my nails but idk what the light had to do with them popping off. So I go get a fresh set (free of charge) and baby .... They ASSUMED because my nails broke that I just work outside ‍ so the lady out THICK, bubbly, and fat nails... literally hurt my fingers so I went to VSL nails and had them fixed. I went this morning to get a fill in and just to give them one more chance before I start going to VSL nails ... everything went well until it came time to pay. Y'all literally EVERY TIME I go in this place the prices are different. I always speak to my husband about it but I never complain because either way the nails are on my fingers so I have to pay what they say. I'm talking 70 for full set one color, no extra length, box shape... I'm a pretty simple girl. Today I get my toes re-polished because I just got my feet done 2 weeks ago and she charged me 30 ..... plus 51 for my fill in. Ma'am I would've just got the $35 pedicure. I'm top of that the time spent in the shop has gotten terrible. Go for a fill and toe polish change and it took 2 hours. read more

Love this nail shop! I was a walk-in. It was my first time at this nail shop and Teresa and Jackie made me feel right at home. The products they use are top notch and my nails look amazing. I like that they do not shuffle you around like some nail shops do and they honestly try to build a relationship with their customers which means a lot to me. They have lots of nail colors which I love! Including all the fancy stuff! They do walk-ins but prefer appointments. Either way you get fantastic service! Wonderful experience. Teresa did my pedicure. She was very friendly, knowledgable, attentive, and competent. She also gave good advice when I had questions about nail care. I chose the deluxe pedi option with honey-almond exfoliant and lotion. I'm so glad I paid the extra- it was divine and well worth it. When I first went to this business I thought it was wonderful. The talk was talked and I bought into it. The nail service, if you get the right tech, can be great. However, a turnoff for me was that the price kept changing; and never lower. Once I had a simple design placed on one finger of each hand; two polishes for the design, same shade (one sparkle, one flat), 3-5 seconds for application per finger..4 dollars for both in addition to price of the mani/pedi. 2 weeks later, I asked for the same design; 18 dollars extra added to the mani/pedi. Even though this is just a nail shop; not a spa nail shop, I'd kept regular 2 week appointments for a year. Little by little things began to change, and not in my favor. The last time I went my tech was changed. That was in direct conflict with the arrangement that had been made that caused me to become a regular there; and was the last straw for me. You can give them a try if you want but I would not be so eager to make them the only nail shop I went to. At least that way you might continue to get reliable service when you do show up. read more
