I've been using Yelp for years, and my terrible experience at Mythos is the first that has prompted me to write a review (positive or negative). Not a good experience. The first and only time I ordered from Mythos, I placed an order for pickup. I ordered a cheeseburger with a fried egg on top, and fries. Simple enough. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes, so I showed up 20 minutes later to pick up my food. It was not ready and I had to wait another 5-10 minutes for them to bring it out. I justified this lack of urgency by the fact that I would at least be getting some piping hot food, but that was not the case. I opened the foam box to find that they had completely forgotten to include the egg, and everything was tepid and soggy. At this point I was starving so I dug in anyway. The burger was grey and leaking some sort of grey liquid. The fries were soggy, under seasoned, undercooked, and clearly frozen. With all of the great food options in this part of buffalo, I would put Mythos at the very bottom of the barrel. Learn from my mistake and choose any of the other great food options on Elmwood. OK, so no parking in Elmwood Village drove us to seek carbs elsewhere and my girlfriend parked the car and we walked to Mythos from around the block. Plenty of people were scattered throughout and I like how they sat us right at the window and no one was near enough to disturb or be disturbed by our chatter. We started with a chicken casadilla for an appetizer and then fresh baked bread arrived just before my friends salad and my New England Clam Chowder. The salad was nice looking and I thoroughly enjoyed my soup. Our dinner companion ordered a portabella salad and for our main courses my friend had crab and scallop stuffed sole. I chose more seafood, the Mykonos Seafood Linguini. The crab is real...not that pretend stuff..... For desert we ordered baklava, a chocolate cake over white chocolate mousse over chocolate cheesecake and a hot fudge cheesecake. We had plenty to tote back home of entrees and desserts. For three of us the bill was $70.00 and we all had leftovers. For an elegant atmosphere, good service and excellent food I would definitely recommend Mythos on Elmwood. read more

Came here yesterday with a coworker for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and service of this place. The outside is no frills and the inside is a bit outdated, however the food was really tasty and great. I ordered the chicken gyro and the tzatziki dressing was really excellent, adding to the great seasoning on the chicken. Everything was very fresh and my fries were hot and crispy. My coworker ordered the special for the day, the crab cake salad with Greek dressing, and it also looked very great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive; overall a great experience. Every time I come here any waitress I have is so friendly and nice ! They're quick , and the food is always good. Their home fries are really good, I only ever had breakfast here but anything I ever got was really great. This place and the employees have to be a joke. I called at 830 asking what time they close and was told 10 o clock. Upon arrival at 855 I was told it was closed and I also could not order take out. Not only was I told wrong information but also no justification for their mistake! Also the time I had eaten take out here a WK prior I ordered a soulvaki dinner with Greek potatoes. Owner is a great guy, always friendly. The place has anything you can think of that you'll want to eat, from Greek food to American. You'll love how diverse the menu is and to warn some of you, it may overwhelm you if you're not a good decision maker. I've only ever had breakfast here - I usually like to go to nicer places for dinner and this place seems really just kind of an average diner. I do enjoy the brunch here. They have a regular breakfast menu and a whole bunch of additional specials they run on the weekends. I will order any brunch item just to put the hollandaise sauce on it. Mythos has the best hollandaise and the best Greek yogurt I've ever tried. The only downside to brunch here is that the service here is hit or miss. There are a few servers who I've had over and over who are wonderful but of course there are a few who are not. read more

Old Greek diner near downtown probably been there since the 60's it looks like. Sorta old inside, beat up but clean. Kinda funky smell when I walked in but might have been something cooking in the back. Had breakfast here of eggs and gyros with home fries and toast. All very good with super cheerful service. Got a Restaurant.com Cert to try this restaurant so we went on a Friday evening to try this place out. The environment and lighting is appropriate for an evening dinner and it was comfortable. The food was Very GOOD, and the prices were reasonable, not cheap but reasonable for the quality. I sincerely enjoyed my dish, I ordered Aegean Cioppino: It's a traditional Seafood stew with crawfish, mussels, clams, calamari, haddock and salmon in a garlic and tomato broth. VERY GOOD. However... The service was the cause of the 3 star rating. Service way below average. The lady server was not attentive. She would go missing for 20 minutes at a time. My appetizer plates and empty wine glass and water glass was empty for exactly 23 minutes? Where was she?? She came back and apologized and was frantic. Great service and food! This is one of my favorite spots! My family and I eat here often. We enjoy the souvlaki and souvlaki breakfast. We also love the salmon village salad that's on the lunch specials menu at times. The Bellini is great with brunch on Sunday morning! This is the most authentic Greek in the area, I'd say. I'm not the best judge, as I do not eat meat, but I have lived in Greece. A lot of the meals are formed like I remember them in Greece and while ingredients might be the normal fare for America, it at least looks decent. The spanikopita, however, is spot on and awesome. Always look for the spirals, as they tend to be the most full of actual filling and not just filo dough. They are also quite common on the streets in Greece as a cheap snack. It's weird to get it as an entree here, but it satisfies my nostalgia and this vegetarian's bent toward a satisfying meal. Also, milkshakes! read more

I can't take it anymore. The last THREE times I've been here for brunch have been incredibly annoying. 1. Milkshakes were the consistency of milk. 2. "Splitting the check" was a HUGE ordeal involving several staff and what i assume was the manager or owner. Note - I've been here many times and have always gone up to pay separately... I have no idea why it was an issue this weekend. 3. After asking twice for a check, we waited a total of 50 minutes to receive it. There were 2 other tables... the waitress was chatting with her friend (different occasion from the splitting checks time). 4. Drinks that should come with liquor, come with saki. I get it, no liquor license but cut the price down or make them bigger. 5. The food has become blander over time. I used to religiously get the asparagus & swiss omelet. It's not very good anymore. I went here once for an early dinner with a friend. We were the only patrons in the restaurant, and while the service was fine (as one would expect being the only people there) the food gave me food poisoning and I spent the next day (my first day of grad school) really miserable. I had the Gyro Pita, so maybe it was just the grease, but something was rotten in Denmark (Greece?) My friend got a pasta dish and it was massive, and she enjoyed it. When we're on rotations at WCHOB, no one wants to eat the lunch room food so about like 8 of us when to Mythos. They openly welcomed us and pushed together a couple tables for us so that was super nice. They have a pretty big menu that ranged from breakfast all day to lunch specials to dinner to greek specials. Super overwhelming, but could be good if you knew what to order. They were really accommodating though - they split the checks without batting and eye. I had the lunch special of turkey avocado burger. The turkey was dry and they seriously just put one small slice of avocado in it. Not so good and a little bit pricey too - I think about $8-9 without tax yet. I've been going to Mythos for a few years now, and not once have I been disappointed. The Greek food has always been very good, and they have authentic greek salads that took me back to my time in Greece. I've never had poor service, though it may be a tad on the slow side, but i've honestly never noticed or have been bothered by it. This morning we were seated at Ambrosia very easily but we sat at our table for 15 minutes without anyone ever coming over. Not even to give us water. We looked the wait staff dead in the face as we handed in our menus to walk out. They did nothing. That being said, i was happy to take my business down the street to Mythos where they happily served us and offered drinks within 60 seconds. I had the California burrito, which isnt really a burrito because there's no rice and beans but I dug what they were going for. They also put hollandaise sauce over it. I am so glad my GPS picked up on this place! I was in town for a few days visiting family and we just left the Buffalo Science Museum (which I highly recommend BTW) and I was in the mood for greek and this was the first place my GPS picked up. The ambiance was nice, the servers was friendly and prompt. There were not a lot of people there but it was 2:00 on a Monday so that might have been it. Anyway, we were very dissapointed when we were told that their shipment of lamb was late so there was NO LAMB dishes available. My husband was so pissed he almost didn't eat anything but we both got the gyro melt. That was like a party in my mouth! The chicken lemon soup was just ok but the melt was perfect! I stopped in here today with one of those $25 gift certificates from restaurant.com and had no issues with it at all (my first time doing that type of thing so I was nervous) We started with an order each of dolmas and spanikopita. Both were very good, and the spanikopita was in a cool spiral, not like the little triangles you get at most places. Very cool! For our entrees I ordered the Mediterranean fettuccine from the specials menu, with lemon rice soup and my S/O got the mussels and clams arrabiata with lentil soup, he was very impressed with his. He said the clams and mussels were cooked perfectly and appreciated that the mussels were properly debearded. Mine was good as well, probably not something I would order again but that is only because of my tastes, not an issue with quality or flavor. With the gift card we had it required a $50 minimum purchase and let me tell you, the prices at this place are so fair, this was hard to do with a party of 2! I will definitely be back The staff was fantastic as well, very friendly and attentive. I'm very surprised at how empty the restaurant was given we were there at prime dinner hours. The chicken souvlaki was probably the best I have eaten in the Buffalo area. I had a nice conversation with the owner, Tim Klentos, where he was telling me about his journey as a restaurant owner; he seemed like a very hard working and honest guy. Been here twice. The first time was good. Tonight was a nightmare. The server was distracted, although the place was empty. I had to ask the hostess where our server was when our salads hadn't arrived, nor had were seen the server, after a half hour. Food arrived after 40 minutes (the restaurant was basically empty, and it was 6pm). Server tried to throw the kitchen under the bus. Order was wrong, souvlaki meat was cold and overcooked. I don't usually complain, but this was unusually poor service all around, so I did, to the checkout person. Her grumpy response? It gets crazy when it's hot like this. No apologies, no offer to knock anything off the check, no let me call the manager, no offer of dessert next time. And it was unusually cool that day, and the restaurant had like two or three two tops seated. Crazy? Crazy lame. Came here because we had a $25 gift certificate from restaurant.com, the hostess came to the table after I showed her we had the coupon and said that coincidentally today they changed the rule about not being able to show the certificate on your phone and that you had to print it out. They weren't going to allow me to use it until I started to complain and say I was going to take my business elsewhere. A few Saturday's ago my husband and I walked here for breakfast due to the long wait at Acropolis and we were pleasantly surprised. The hostess sat us immediately (at a window seat to boot), and we quickly ordered our food. We both ordered the chicken souvlaki breakfast ($8.99) and it was a huge portion, served with crunchy homefries, your choice of bread, eggs and tzatziki. Needless to say we had a lot of leftovers to take home. The food did take a bit to come out, but our server came and checked on us several times which made the wait seem more bearable.
