Nasi Lemak with Chili Chicken Sambal again no egg
Victor L.

My wife says the nasi lemak spiced fried chicken is just as good as "back home". I don't know about that as I don't recall her being Malaysian. She did live in Singapore so that's close enough I suppose. Her opinion (I only had a taste): + Nasi lemak fried chicken is seasoned nicely with a light crisp. The sambal is a great dipping sauce for the chicken. It's served with coconut rice and side of fried anchovies. Only problem with meal is the missing half egg. (4 stars) + Nasi lemak chili chicken is boneless pieces of chicken covered in chili sauce. Rest is the same as above. (3.5 stars) - Restaurant is a kiosk in a food hall which can get a little dirty around the tables (2 stars) - Come to think of it the missing egg may be an add-on but the photo of the rice items make it look like it's part of the meal. Food is adequate and everything here is self served. Wifey says she'll be back. I don't mind tagging along but not sure if I'd come here on my own.

Mamak Mee Goreng (Stir Fried Noodle) - 3/5
Theo T.

I'm Indonesian so always looking for similar cuisines in the area. Was excited to try MYSelera. MYSelera is located in a food hall grouped with many other restaurants. Parking is typical downtown San Jose: street parking or structure nearby. When you enter (at least on a Saturday) you are greeted by... nothing? The food hall was practically empty: only one employee at a different restaurant. No music, TV showing the Google docs app behind it. The counter for MYSelera was empty. Wasn't even sure it was open. Walked up to the kiosk and ordered the mie goreng and belacan chicken wings, waited 20 minutes (surprisingly long for no other customers), took a bite and... The mie goreng tastes almost like pad thai - very peanut-forward, not like any mie goreng I've ever had in Malaysia. The belacan chicken wings were freshly fried and very crispy -- but no taste of belacan at all; you could have told me these were just unseasoned fried wings and I would agree. 5/10 - unfortunately my search for Indonesian cuisine continues.

Amazing authentic malaysian food in a food court setting environment. Check out their fb page for special.

Nasi Lemak, Malaysian Cha Siu Rice
Nina C.

As a Malaysian American, I am SO excited that some Malaysian goodness opened up right in Downtown San Jose. My parents and I visited their soft opening- when you walk in, make sure to order directly from the kiosk in the back! We were able to talk to the owners, who were very friendly and in known the Malaysian food scene in the Bay Area. We got the Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken, and the Malaysian style chasiu rice. We also tried three drink from their menu, ranging from Palm Sugar Milk drink, Grass Jelly Soymilk, and a Grass Jelly Longan. All were so good and aromatic! Eating in the DT Foodhall felt like eating in a Hawker Center, very lively, fighting for a place to sit :) will definitely be coming back tomorrow!! Soso lucky I get to have a taste some of my own culture so close by. I am definitely taking some lunch meetings and coffee chats more often!! Best wishes on the soft opening

Authentic Malaysian food now available in San Jose. Same owner of Curry Leave Bistro from Pleasanton. The Nasi Lemak with fried chicken is legit. This is soft opening with limited menus.

The Nasi Lemak here is legit. Probably the best I've had outside of Malaysia. Mamak spiced fried chicken was juicy and flavorful. The portion size was pretty good for the price as well. We also got an order of the boneless chicken with chicken rice, it was also pretty good but id stick to nasi lemak on future visits. Looking forward to the next trip to try the Chili chicken sambal! Only issue was they forgot the eggs on our Nasi Lemak and the water that was supposed to come with the chicken rice, probably need to check your bag while this place is still new.

Nasi Lemak Mamak Spiced Fried Chicken

Wanted to give the restaurant a second chance. So came back for lunch during weekday around 12 pm. Only ordered one Nasi Lemak Mamak Spiced Fried Chicken. Their two staff took almost 20 minutes to get it done although I was the only customer there. I'm Malaysian. The food here is not the Malaysian standard. Doubt I will give this restaurant a third chance. Disappointed as I was expecting this restaurant to be as good as Curry Leaves Bistro.

Char kway teow!

So happy we now have good Malaysian food in San Jose. Same owner as Curry Leaves Bistro in Pleasanton. Nasi lemak is amazing, the iftar special nasi minyak with chicken also so good. Today I lucked out with freshly made char kway teow! Excellent & so authentic!

Layang Layang is my favorite spot for Singaporean/Malaysian food…read more I used to be a frequenter at their Cupertino location. Same delicious food at the Milpitas location. I prayed for years that they'd reopen in Cupertino again. The Bay Area needs more Singaporean/Malaysia food!! Some of the must try dishes here are: * Mee goreng: spicy street noodles * Kari Mee: noodles in a spicy coconut curry broth with chunks of chicken and potato * Chicken Satay: Grilled chicken skewers served with a peanut sauce * Roti Canai: crispy flatbread served with a curry sauce * Mee Siam: Stir fried rice noodles * Nasi Goreng: Malaysian fried rice * Ice Kachang: Shaved ice topped with rose syrup, and condensed milk. Under the glorious ice, you'll find red bean, grass jelly, corn, peanuts & agar agar making for an unexpectedly delicious dessert (This was my favorite dessert growing up)

The Roti was crisp, but still had a nice chew to it and was not too oily! Portion size was ok, I think just enough for 2 ppl to share as an appetizer! - Sarang Seafood $27.50: Interesting dish for sure! It was fried taro paste in a bowl form with a seafood stir fry inside! In my opinion, I think it was just ok! A little overpriced for the amount of actual seafood in the dish (there were about 4 pieces of shrimp, small pieces of scallops and squid). I think the dish could've used a bit more flavor and maybe better quality seafood? Overall ok! ~overall~ Service was great, very quick and the staff were very friendly! Lot of seating indoors, so would a good spot for larger groups too! Plenty of parking in the plaza as well! Overall, pretty good, I may come back to try some of their other dishes since their menu seems quite big!

We ordered the roti, crispy pork belly, sausage, Laos style papaya salad, and a khao soi to share between 3 people. All of the food was absolutely delicious but we felt like the portions were a little small for the price. The pork belly and sausage were both ~ $23 and didn't come with as many pieces as we thought it would. This was some of the crispiest roti I've ever had! I loved the curry dipping sauce on the side and the nice crunch of the cucumbers. The pork belly was slightly overcooked, a little hard but the flavors were great! The sausage tasted house made, it had a great tang to it and I loved the variety of dipping sauce. We ordered extra spicy/hot for the Laos papaya salad but it was definitely medium. The khao soi was very comforting on a cold day and the broth was rich and creamy. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area!

Everything tasted just okay, very mediocre overall. The Pad See Ew had a weird bitter aftertaste that made it hard to enjoy. The Pad Thai was also disappointing; the noodles were clumped together and lacked flavor. We didn't finish either dishes. For the price, I expected much better quality and taste. Probably wouldn't come back.

After looking around I found Burma Choice. Luckily I had some kind of promo thru UE, so getting the salad delivered costs less than the salad itself. Score for my lazy a$$! I love a good tea leaf salad, but I do not like peanuts. I wish this establishment let you make notes or had an option for no peanuts. I ended up having to pick them all out which wasn't a big deal. But it was slightly annoying. Otherwise I enjoyed the flavors of the fermented tea leaf. I want more jalapenos and lemon for contrast. Luckily I had those items at home to add. Good option for a tea leaf salad. Just wish they would let you get it without peanuts thru Uber Eats. REVIEW #4035

A no thrills Korean restaurant specializing in their black bean sauce rice/noodles. We ordered: Fried Dumplings - minced pork and vegetables dumplings deep fried to perfection. Crunchy, meaty and just need a dousing of vinegar. Jajang Rice - rice covered in shrimp egg omelette with the black bean jajang sauce on the side. The omelette was done right, not dry, but the black bean jajang sauce was really what made the dish. Beef Jjamppong - noodle soup with beef slices and mixed vegetables. Comforting bowel of needles with thinly sliced beef and cabbage. Jajangmyeon - their signature noodles with black bean sauce. Very umami and the noodles were done just right. Cheap (for nowadays) and good food, what else can you ask for?
