First time trying this restaurant. I ordered satay chicken, pad thai, and green curry. These orders came in with big portions. The chicken was really chewy and tasted like real chicken. However, I found it a little under-flavored. I was hoping there would be more lemongrass and a smoky smell, just like other typical skewers. Pad Thai was on point. I love the sweetness and sourness that came in the sauce. In addition, I love how they have the combo on the menu, which gives me a chance to try different items on the same plate. The Green curry combo came with egg rolls, salad, and brown rice. The egg rolls were crunchy on the outside, but I found them a bit raw and cold on the inside, and it wasn't a problem for me. I didn't taste much of coconut milk flavor in the curry, which made it not as creamy as expected. Overall, it was a really nice experience, and I'd come back to try again.
The restaurant is in a shopping center and we were able to grab parking right in front. We visited on a Friday evening with two kids and two adults and we were seated right away. It's cozy inside with a few tables for smaller and mid sized groups. I noticed the most traffic was from take out orders. They offer a pretty big menu so it's easily something for everyone. The portion sizes are shareable and you can have a family style meal. We ordered the tofu pad Thai, Supreme rice, Orange chicken, Chicken nuggets, Chicken tacos and a side of French fries. We also tried the Thai tea. Everything tasted great. The pad Thai and supreme rice was everyone's favorite. We'll be back to try more from the menu soon.
Overall, just average. The papaya salad was decent and abundant in portion size, BUT tomatoes were really mushy . I would have preferred for it to have some kind of spice that lacked too. The drumsticks were the main item I visited for and they were good; however, they were on dowels vs. sugar cane... just a different vibe, not a deal breaker. Two issues with my visit here: 1. asked for a sweet chili sauce, but it has no chili in it, just a sugary sauce AND when I got my bill I was charged extra for the sauce but no mention of this when I ordered it. I have no issue paying for extra sauces 1. If the sauce is worth a hoot and 2. Awareness that I'm paying for it. Prices are a little high for the quality of food. The parking lot is a little undersized for the amount of businesses in the little strip mall area. One MAJOR complaint and issue 2. They claim the restroom is out of order (which I saw on previous reviewers posts, which was over 1 month ago)... idk how a business can operate without a restroom for customers. I get emergency situations, but how have they gone this long without a working restroom for customers? To make this situation even worse, it doesn't appear they have any neighboring businesses to partner with on this issue because if you need the restroom they tell you to go across the street to Trader Joe's. Next time I'm in the area, I'll just grab something from TJ's to eat and not worry about dining at My Vegan.
3.5 stars Another vegetarian family member came to visit, so I thought to have them try this place, since it's so highly rated. It's not bad, but it didn't wow the way I thought it would. My uncle got the Tofu Cashew Stir-fry and it wasn't as spicy as we thought it would be. I got the Tom Yum Noodles and it was sour and not spicy enough. My mom got the Pad Thai and that turned out to be the best dish. Service was good. I'd come back.
I came to My Vegan in Pasadena for dinner with a friend. They have a decent sized menu, it was hard to choose. I decided on their special where you can pick an entree, side of rice, salad and an egg roll for $18. I got yellow curry amd my friend got cashew "chicken" with tofu. We also got dumplings for an appetizer. All the food came out really fast, a little too fast. I'm not sure if they have it pre made and heat it up upon ordering, or if it's made to order. The food was good, but not amazing. For the price though it was a deal and definitely somewhere to stop when hungry and don't want to spend too much. I also liked that they gave a homeless woman water when she came in and asked. That was really kind and refreshing to see. I will be back. There is no restroom though or at least it didn't look like there was a restroom. I want to try their mango sticky rice next time.
3.5 stars. I came on a Monday evening for early dinner around 5:50pm. There is a parking lot with a few spaces. Not the biggest parking lot and a bit of a tight, weird layout but I was able to secure a spot. This was my first time here. No one was inside when we came so we were immediately greeted and seated. It's pretty small inside. Several tables along each wall and a few in the middle. We ordered the orange chicken, P.E.T. and RIPP. The food came out decently quickly. First impression was that the portion sizes were small for the price (~$18 each). The orange chicken was not what I expected. I wouldn't get this again. It was mushy and soft, not the crunchy breading I hoped for. The sauce is quite citrus-heavy. The PET was solid. I was hoping for more pumpkin and tofu but overall good. The RIPP was the best dish in terms of the entree itself. Tangy flavor, great mock meat texture. The steamed vegetables had no flavor and the carrots were basically raw. The cabbage slaw was pretty good but a bit watery toward the bottom. Overall, it was okay. I wasn't blown away by any flavors. It's a bit overpriced for what it was. Nothing was notably memorable. My partner and I were able to finish everything (he does eat a lot though). I wouldn't necessarily come out of my way to eat here again but I wouldn't say no either if someone asked. Maybe I'll give the pad Thai a try next. Service was nice. Water was refilled twice. Other notes (literally posted around the restaurant): -bathrooms out of order -cash preferred -minimum credit card purchase $10 -tip preferred in cash
Dropped by and got the Vegan Pho Basil ($15.50). Even though this is a Thai restaurant, the pho was pretty comparable to what you can get at a vegan Vietnamese restaurant. To me, all vegan pho tastes the same (the salty veggie broth taste), and this is exactly what this one felt like. The portion sizes were satisfactory. They will give you sriracha and hoisin sauce if you ask. The restroom is a single-stall inside the kitchen, so you have to ask to be escorted. It's written on the menu that any food returned will only give you 50% back. Seems pretty atypical and I can see how that might offend some customers.
I ordered this for pickup, it went smoothly and they had my order ready under 10 minutes. I ordered the mung bean noodle salad and the mushroom coconut soup with tofu. I would highly recommend the mushroom coconut soup. The salad's flavor was amazing, perfectly sour and umami, but they had large chunks of green onion (a lot of stem), which cannot be eaten without my eyes watering. The soy shrimp texture was also a little dry.
I was looking for a vegetarian food option for my mom and decided to give My Vegan a try. At first, I tried to call and place a takeout order. However, they did not pick up, so I went and ordered in person. The staff was very helpful in answering all of my questions about what's in their dishes. After ordering, it was mentioned everything would be ready within 15 minutes. There were not a lot of people at the time, so there were plenty of seats for me to sit and wait. I was actually surprised to see that everything was actually ready within 5 minutes. In total, I got three dishes - Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and egg rolls. For both the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew, I added tofu for the order. For the egg rolls, it looks like it was made with carrot and lettuce. My mom absolutely loves all the dishes. I also enjoyed all of the dishes. Everything was definitely shareable for 1-2 people. This spot will now be one of our favorite consideration for vegetarian food! Note: American Express is not accepted here.
Hidden gem for Thai-style vegetarian food. All dishes are made from non-meat or meat-alternative ingredients, but the flavor is almost identical to regular dish. Recommend: Broccoli beef, Pad Thai, Tom Kha Soup, and Angry Pork. Plenty of parking.
the flavors here are unreal and service has always been super friendly! fascinated by how wide the menu range is. it's busy in here but never overwhelmingly crowded, which is awesome. the vibes are awesome. if you like chinese and thai food and if you're interested in trying plant-based renditions, you'll love this spot
Came in, although there's a sign that says restroom is out of order they told me it wasn't and allowed me to access it. Small place and restroom is in the back by the kitchen but it was clean. Food car out amazingly fast, prob 5-7 min. Tasted great, o ordered the egg rolls and angry pork. Pork was a bit on the salty side but otherwise great flavor. Egg rolls were on point. The brown rice that comes with the angry pork was my favorite, sticky and cooked just right. Overall I liked the place. Bit pricey but it's Pasadena and nothing is 3-5 bucks anymore. 4 stars because of the price and again. A bit too salty on the angry pork for my taste but definitely give this place a try.

Tom Zabb 5/5 Yellow Curry Noodle 4.5/5 Tom Kah 4/5 Vegan Beef Jerky 5/5 "Chicken Nuggets" 4/5 Overall: a huge selection of delicious vegan food! I have enjoyed everything I've ever ordered. Service: pleasant and very quick! I never have to wait to feast on food at My Vegan. Vegan food: my favorite items on the menu are the Tom Zabb and the Vegan Beef Jerky. The Tom Zabb is basically vegan hot and sour soup with a ton of different types mushrooms. It's hot and spicy and super savory. I've ordered it multiple times. It's one of my favorite soups of all time. The Vegan Beef Jerky is my favorite appetizer. It's fried and crispy and full of flavor. I have yet to try many items on the menu - because there are so many options. I can't wait to go back and try more food at My Vegan. read more

Decided to give this place a try after a few of my vegetarian friends recommended it for its healthy food and I think I've found an absolute gem! I am personally not vegetarian or vegan and was shocked by how well they were able to recreate both the textures and flavors of meat in their vegan dishes. My Vegan is located in a small plaza with its own parking lot so it is relatively easy to access in a city where most of the parking is paid parking. The inside was clean and the employees were kind and attentive. I ordered: Angry Pork (5/5): So so delicious! They were out of their "pork" due to supply chain issues but were kind enough to substitute this dish with their "beef"; the "beef" truly was a good replica of meat as it didn't taste artificial. Their sriracha sauce was very light and tangy with a slight hint of spice that I would really not consider to be spicy. The vegetables in this dish were also so well seasoned and the crunchy garlic pieces really elevated the dish. Overall, pretty fair prices for excellent vegan food! read more
This place has Thai food at fair, affordable prices in a small, casual environment. The server was attentive and friendly. My friend ordered the drunken noodles and I ordered the Pad Thai. Even though I'm a meat-eater, I was pleasantly surprised by the fried tofu that complemented my Pad Thai very well. The food was fresh, flavorful and good portions. This place has other options too besides Thai food but this place can easily complete with reputable Thai restaurants. read more

WOWWW. Best vegan dishes in the vicinity. You cannot tell there are no animal products in these: -My Vegan Pad Thai Signature $13, giant dish great for sharing except you probably shouldn't. So tasty and so full of flavor, comes with tofu (add $ for other proteins) and the eggplant was just perfect. Insane. -Yellow Curry was top notch as well $11. With rice, the curry was not heavy nor light. Coconutty, well spiced drowning potatoes and blocks of tofu. -Also got one vegan egg roll just to try it. It was freshly fried (careful), crispy and pretty good. Good service, parking slightly tight but doable. Place was packed around 6pm so come early! This place can convert anyone. This tiny, vegan Thai restaurant located within an unassuming strip mall is definitely one of the better tasting vegan Thai restaurants I've been to in a long time. The tastes were very comparable to regular Thai food so bravo to getting the flavor profile on point. Perhaps it was a good sign that everyone that worked there spoke Thai so it is seemingly a family-owned business. The only oddity here is the restroom is located in the back so you will need to walk through he small kitchen to get to it. My fiancé and I shared the following dishes and can't wait to come back and go through their menu. - Mung bean noodle salad: 5/5; limey, tasty, and refreshingly light on a hot summer day. A little too much roasted peanuts in the mix but, good nevertheless. - Hot and sour vegetable soup: 5/5; hearty, fragrant, and filled with lots of veggies. - French fries: 5/5; delicious and crispy thin cut fries. Vegan food on a Sunday night #meatlesssundays ITEM'S ORDERED: Yellow Curry RIPP (Rest in Peace Porky) TASTE: The RIPP comes with broccoli, baby carrots & cole slaw. The "meat" is really aromatic & flavorful. Pretty sweet flavor with savory to balance it out. I ate it with Sriracha which I think it needs. Has a really good, dense meaty chew to it. It's one of those flavors & textures you can just keep on eating. In some ways it's almost too flavorful as I kept thinking it would work well with rice. I'm surprised I actually liked the coleslaw much more than I would. Maybe it's because it's vegan mayo (not as heavy/thick) or the seasoning, it was tasty but maybe just a little bit sweet towards the end. The side of steamed broccoli & baby carrots were just to basic for me. For some reason the broccoli was actually (fridge) cold. Yellow curry is a solid curry dish. It's a very deep tumeric heavy, savory, little sweet flavor that works well with the noodles. Very minimal spice as I've found with other yellow curry. I do wish the noodles were more al dente. SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING: Postmates order so no real comments on service. Food was very fresh though & did not have to reheat the curry. Everything was packaged well & securely. They are located in a strip mall with its own parking lot. They are pretty much right across the street from the very popular Lucky Boy. Where do I start... My new favorite restaurant. I have been craving Thai for a while now and My Vegan delivered like you wouldn't believe. I immediately told a relative and a friend who later went and had the same experience. It's their favorite place now too. My girlfriend is not vegan and she loved it just as much as I did. I ordered the signature pad Thai. She ordered the carbonara pasta plate and we shared an order of steamed dumplings. The Pad Thai was a 5 out of 5. So flavorful and a generous portion which was enough for lunch and to take home as well. The carbonara was a 4/5 for me but I am not the biggest fan of creamy sauces so maybe I am not the best to rate this dish. It was however very flavorful and filling also. The dumplings were a great start to our main courses. I will he honest and say that the reason I had made a real effort to come here is because of the exterior but don't let that fool you. Walking in the restaurant will change your opinion. Very warm and inviting. Servers were great also. Food came out promptly and when the bill came out I had to do a double take because it was a lot less than I have been used to since I've started my plant based diet. All in all. This place is great and Is definitely recommend to anyone. I would encourage you to bring a friend who might be skeptical on the taste of plant based alternatives and prove them wrong. Well I guess since you guys don't pay attention to your Instagram private messages, I'm gonna have to air my grievances out here. Sucks that the first time I go and I anxiously await one of my favorite Thai dishes, which I haven't been able to enjoy in so long, since I went vegan over a year ago. I finally find a place where I can have it again, and what happens? A simple order of three items, and my beloved pad Thai is missing when I get home!!!! Nobody bothers to pick up the phone when I call, and I have to say that the food I did try was just OK. Guess I'm just SOL on the pad Thai. read more

A must eat vegan destination. Four of their dishes are some of the top ones in all of LA: Yellow curry noodles, beef jerky, RIPP, and Angry pork. I suggest skipping the ramen, pad Thai, burgers, and tacos (probably some of my least fav in LA). This place is a gem and has two other sister locations around LA. Bring the munchies! This place has been on my list for a while now but I was a little disappointed especially with so many raving reviews. My bf and I ordered the Tom yum noodle soup with tofu, pad Thai with tofu, and orange chicken. Our favorite was definitely the orange chicken! It was perfectly tangy paired with amazingly made rice (might've been brown rice?). We wish this dish was a little more crispy, but still good nonetheless. My bf liked the pad Thai but I thought it was pretty standard/basic. We actually meant to get their signature pad Thai, but I didn't realize there was a regular pad Thai option on the menu until after. I wish the staff clarified because it can be a little difficult for first time customers ordering from a Yelp menu to know there are 2 options. Lastly, the Tom yum was definitely a no for us. It was so overwhelmingly spicy !!! Like borderline not edible. And it is more sweet rather than sour like the ones that we are normally used to. I can eat spicy, but this dish literally got me choking on every bite. I'd say this place is a great option for vegans because they have so many Thai options to choose from. Although I'm not vegan, there are still many vegan restaurants that I love but sadly, this will not be one of them. read more

Wow, wow and wow!! Who needs meat when you have My Vegan cooking up amazing dishes! My cousin picked me up for lunch and we headed here. The place is pretty much self seating and smaller like most Pasadena small business restaurants, only about 30 people can fit. We ordered the orange chicken, signature pad thai and spicy pork with white rice and brown rice. My cousin had the thai tea. Everything was so dang on good! The orange chicken was the best I've ever had! The service was quick and the price wasn't bad either. I cant wait to come back to try other items. read more

Been here so many times, so good every single time. Best vegan restaurant in LA, imo. Prices are reasonable, located on Arroyo in Pasadena, it's Thai based but you can also get burgers, soups, ramen, etc. Excellent menu selection, absolutely great. Can't recommend it enough. read more

One of my favorite places for vegan food. Friendly staff. Great place for takeout. Every dish was flavorful and delicious. Favorites were pad Thai, pad see you, spicy basil kee mao noodle and Yellow curry noodle. Be careful! Their spicy is seriously spicy. I loved it but it's definitely not for everyone. read more

This place proves that vegan Thai food can be delicious AF. I got the yellow curry noodles after seeing pics on Yelp and I am so glad I did. It was like ramen in yellow curry!! The fake chicken didn't even taste fake because everything just tastes like delicious yellow curry. It's one of those things where the dish is so good that when you go back, you probably won't order something else because you KNOW that one specific dish is solid. It was $10 which is pretty standard for noods. My friend got the My Vegan Pad Thai and it was super subpar. I am not a fan. The eggplant and kale bits were good but it tasted like the noodle to sauce/flavor ratio was off. Too much noods. This restaurant is located at a tiny strip mall that I've probably passed a million times but never noticed. Decent sized parking lot. Staff was friendly and quick with service.
