The veg fish was an all time favorite. When I do happen to go to a vegetarian restaurant, I would order it (if available). We all loved the sauce in the fish. Great option for vegetarians! Surprised to find this restaurant so busy on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm. Noted that they had several large tables, more so than smaller tables. Ideal for bigger groups. There were only 3 of us but we ended up at a large table as that was the only table available. We got the crispy chicken with basil, fish with brown sauce and sizzling tofu. I enjoyed the tofu the best then the crispy chicken. The fish I think had five spice seasoning and seaweed (nori) to give it that fish flavor. I have to agree with other reviewers that since the relocation (and ownership change), the food doesn't taste as good as before. What they do have going for them are the dishes that no one else has, the truffle fried rice and shrimp roll appetizer for example. The way they fillet and batter their "fish" is also unique to them and is done very elaborately! We've been patrons for a long time rotating between Vege Valley at their old location, Happy Family (through all their location changes), and House of Fortune (Chino - which is still our undefeated favorite as of late). Actually it goes way back to 'Ten/Tin In' for any OG 626 vegetarians that remember. It's not that the dishes here were bad by any means, it just wasn't as delicious as they can be. If you visit House of Fortune the food is the exact same, every-single-time, which probably means the ingredients are standardized during kitchen prep whereas at Vege Valley it felt like the chefs are cooking by feel. The house chicken (general tso), which is just mushrooms, weren't battered enough to survive the frying and its sauce. The walnut shrimp wasn't battered at all so it was just the raw vegetarian shrimp (konjac) tossed in mayo (other places batter it). The food came out incredibly fast and I wonder if that is part of the reason why it's a hit or miss. The restaurant is clean and there was plenty of seating on a busy Saturday lunch. We were the second party of eight that afternoon yet they were still able to accommodate us at the same time. My only other complaint was that once the food was served, the staff became only concerned with clearing tables. There wasn't delegation of who should be cleaning and who should continue servicing. No one followed up with drinks or condiments, we had to wave them down. The few times we did get their attention however they were very nice. We'd visit again, only if we were in the area, to see if they can outdo our favorite on a better day. read more

There are tons of parking in their underground parking. We wanted to order everything but since it was just us two, we decided to get three dishes. Minced meat lettuce wrap - I love this dish. I love the crunch from the wonton skin. Orange chicken- this is mushroom batter with orange sauce and it's really good. Fish in brown sauce- I really love the fake fish with the brown sauce. There is a lot of green pepper in this dish. If you're not a fan of green peppers. Don't order this. Our dishes comes with a choice of brown rice, white rice, or for an extra charge, porridge. We decided to go with brown rice. The brown rice was cooked well. The service was good. They also offer a banquet-style menu too. My family and I had dinner here to celebrate the holiday season on Saturday, December 27th, 2025. It was recommended to us by my mother-in-law, who is a devout Buddhist and vegetarian. We ordered quite the variety of dishes for our party of 9. The quality of the food was really, really good. The dishes that were meant to mimic meat-centric dishes at traditional Chinese restaurants were pretty convincing. The flavors were very robust overall, my group generally enjoy the dinner. The service was also noticeably better than most Chinese restaurants in the area. Every time I come back to the SGV, it seems like we lose more traditional, Chinese vegetarian restaurants. Vege Valley used to be run by a husband and wife duo, back when it was still in the 99 Ranch plaza. I think the quality of the food isn't as good since they moved to their new location and are under new ownership, but I'm glad a lot of the menu items are generally the same and there's a lot of nostalgia eating here still. We had the salt and pepper "chicken", salt and pepper fried oyster mushrooms, lion's head meatball, and stir-fried chayote leaves. The chayote leaves were pretty fresh and tender -- even with the stems -- and the fried chicken nuggets with thai basil were as good as always. Some of the oyster mushrooms were a bit too old, which you could tell by the slightly mushier edges in spite of the batter and seasoning. The lion's head meatball is a dish you almost never see in Chinese vegetarian restaurants anymore, let alone elsewhere. I especially like the places that make it with actual tofu vs. some soy protein isolate, and that's what Vege Valley uniquely offers. The taste of the meatballs were good, but man, they were so stingy on the bean thread noodles. As someone who mostly cooks at home (and makes this dish from scratch), I knew that they didn't put more than 1-2 batches of noodles in, which is *superbly* stingy when this dish is supposed to serve 4-5 people. This was a dish that cost $20. My mom asked them to add a couple more so there was enough noodle to share, and they said they would have to charge $4 per extra batch! A pack of 6 at 99 Ranch costs $3-4, so it was absolutely absurd and really reflected poorly on their service. Left a bad taste in my mouth honestly, but I'm still giving this place 4 stars because I want to support the remaining veggie restaurants left in the SGV and overall, the dishes are still tasty. They need to do better by their customers though if they want to keep ones like my parents, who've been eating at the various iterations of Vege Valley over the past 30 years. read more

Service and food were good! Waitresses were helpful in explaining what each dish came with if you weren't sure. Dishes surprisingly came out pretty quick until it starts getting packed. Like many others stated, the crispy oyster mushrooms were pretty good! They had a nice light crispy batter with an addicting texture! Other standouts: the Crispy Oyster Mushroom ($18.95) was true to its name and tasted like popcorn chicken, and the Pineapple Fried Rice ($14.95) balanced savory and sweet better than most I've had. The Fried Noodle was solid ($14.95) and the Veggie Seafood Soup with Egg ($12.95) was comforting to have on a windy day. The Dry Sautéed Green Beans ($15.95) were fine, but nothing special. The Black Truffle Fried Rice ($24.95) had a very strong truffle aroma, unexpected for a veggie place...not bad, just bold. The pumpkin vermicelli noodles and the bean curd dish was okaya dn could have been seasoned more. I've made these dishes at home and they're simple dishes, it was not worth price. We came here for a family luncheon, to accommodate vegetarians in the family. I remember this restaurant when it was located in the neighboring plaza at the corner of Valley and New, also on the second floor. Although it kept the same name but it is run by a new owner ccording to my sister. The new location is much smaller so the wait is longer and they won't seat the party until everyone arrived. The good news is all their dishes are delicious. The dessert sweet riceball soup was excellent. We ordered enough to feed an army so there were a lot to take back home. We had no problem to divide leftovers among families and all is well. The narrow space between tables and services are the reasons I couldn't give it 5 stars. Starting the year on a healthy journey, we Yelped for suggestion of vegetarian restaurants. Vege Valley bubbled up to the top with some great reviews. Vege Valley is in SGV located in an older plaza on the second floor next to Focus Shopping Center. The traffic on Valley Blvd doesn't disappoint but the traffic on that strip makes me question returning back. The parking driveway and spaced are bit tight and but there are more spots on the underground. The restaurant is bright and furniture are modern. The tables set up alongside of the booths make the restaurant very cramped. Service is nice but at peak hours, the kitchen staff cannot keep up with the orders so will take some time for the food to be delivered. They offered daily lunch specials so ask for that during non-holidays. We tried Veggie Curry and Fried Basil Chicken Nuggets. --- The veggie curry (4/5) is good but seems more watery than normal. The vegetable ingredients added to the dish is generous. The curry taste is not as strong. Must be missing curry leaves or something. --- Fried Basil Chicken Nuggets (3/5) sounds good, but the dish didn't meet expectation - expressly dried and flavored was douse with white pepper. PARKING: can be somewhat cramped as it is one of those small plazas in SGV, but they have a downstairs parking area too. This is my first time dining in at their new location. They used to be Vege Paradise located 2 blocks away at the San Gabriel Shopping Center. New location is a bit smaller so it was a little snugged at the corner tables, but nothing we couldn't adjust to. My 5th aunt ordered the family-style meal @ $268 that came with 11 veggie dishes plus a sweet black sesame dessert. Every veggie dish was yummy and delicious. Trust me... all plates were empty! And we were all full even from veggies. Staff was great. Service was good, but they were so busy that it got a little hectic. Ambiance was simple. My mom has been a vegetarian for over 25 years and we've tried so many restaurants I've lost count. My mom is very particular about the food she eats so it's rare that we get to take her out to eat or are willing buy food to bring home to her. This one happens to be one of my mom's favorites since it is close to her home and the best part is that you can order online! My family's top favorites are the crispy sesame vege fish, crispy oyster mushroom, vege kidney with baisal, eggplant with baisal, vege pan fried fish with salt and pepper, and dry sauteed green beans. One of the best, if not the best vegan/vegetarian place in the SGV! They've been around for a long time! I knew them when they were over in the focus plaza, now known as tawa gateway. They've since moved over about 1-2 blocks west but parking is much better as if you can't find parking on the main level, you can go park underground, plenty of spaces. It is on the second floor so you gotta go up the stairs otherwise there's an elevator too I believe. The food here is absolutely amazing tasting. It may be a bit on the pricier side but they are meant to be family style so plenty to share. They do lunch specials too which is on the weekdays ( minus holidays), you get a smaller portion of the entree and it comes with rice or porridge. Service is also very good, they can speak a bit of most languages you'd expect: English, mando, canto and viet! I suppose if there's a downside, I'd say that the place isn't too big so can get crowded at peak times and you may have to wait a bit. In those cases they have a manual wait list to put your name down near the entrance of the place. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

Went to Vege Valley about a month ago with my parents for the first time, and it was a great experience! My dad is vegetarian, so we came for lunch on a weekend after hearing good recs about this place. They brought us hot tea and we ordered vege chicken with orange sauce, vege sausage and tofu in hot pot, fried rice noodle with pumpkin, stir fried dragon whisker veggies, and vege pork in sesame pita bread. The food took a good 15+ min to come out, and the vege pork in sesame pita bread came out later because they needed time to make it. They forgot our dragon whisker veggies in the order I believe, so we had to ask them halfway through our meal and then they made and brought it. Everything was really delicious, but most dishes were pretty salty so you had to pair it with rice or veggies. It's a good place to eat family style and share multiple dishes. We had some leftovers that my parents took home. My favorite dish was the fried rice noodles with pumpkin, and my husband loved the vege sausage and tofu in hot pot.
