    "Beef" chow fun
    Wil L.

The restaurant was empty on a Thursday night at 6pm. We ordered. Few items that might be a good sample of the restaurant. Tofu with broccoli in a sweet chili sauce, eggplant with tofu, "beef" chow fun, and the spring rolls. The sauce for the spring rolls was super watery and lacked peanut flavor. Of those the eggplant was by far the best with the wok flavor. Overall food was just ok for me which I guess is reflected on why the restaurant was empty at 6pm.

They give very generous portions here, I could barely finish my bowl. The flavor is just okay, not the best vegetarian soup I've had.

Saw a friend's review of this restaurant and she mentioned how good it was for a vegetarian restaurant, so of course, I had to give it a try. I normally don't go to a vegetarian restaurant, unless the food tastes almost like the real thing. Oh boy, this place did not disappoint. The restaurant is nice and clean. Staffs were very friendly. Service was quick. We ordered the followings: - Goi Cuon (Shrimp & Pork Rolls) - Com Ca Kho To (Clay Pot Peppered Fish) - Bun Bo Hue (Hue Style Spicy Beef Vermicelli Soup) All our dishes were so good. Tasted very close to the real thing. Not kidding. They gave us the Mung Bean with Tapioca Dessert (On the House). It had the right amount of sweetness. So yummy! I am definitely going back here again and try their other dishes. If you are a vegetarian or not, I highly recommend this place! Go give them a try. I'm glad I did.

Everything is vegetarian and they also have milk and bubble teas also. Free parking in a huge shopping mall. Clean and beautiful interior. When so much of San Gabriel and Temple city are non-vegetarian places, this is very refreshing to know that it is an all vegetarian restaurant. Thank you very much for providing the service for those who don't like to eat meat or harm any animals.

We came here to get some vegan Vietnamese food and we were glad we did. We got the beef Pho soup, which came with different types of tofu, mushrooms, vegan ham, and beyond beef; fried tofu appetizer; and pomegranate and green juices. Everything tasted great and healthy. We went around 2 pm and there were several parties, but still had open seating as there is plenty. The restaurant was clean and fairly spacious. The staff was very friendly and attentive! The food came out super quick! Overall, I would definitely return because of the great authentic Vietnamese food and great service!

I'd honestly rather starve. The reviews feel fake, and the Happy Buddha would cry over this place. I ordered the spicy beef, and it was nothing more than an oily noodle soup with zero flavor. I couldn't even take a second bite and left the entire dish. I even asked to confirm whether this was Vietnamese food, and they said it was which honestly made it more disappointing.

This is a must try vegan/ vegetarian place! There is a great selection of rice and noodle dishes. Service is quick. Server is friendly. We ordered our food and within 10 minutes, our food was served. Everything we ordered was delicious. Soup was flavorful. "Meats" were seasoned well and tender. Veggies were fresh and crunchy. There's also lots of seating inside to enjoy the food. The music playing is low so no need to yell to hear someone talk while you eat. Definitely check out this spot!

My go-to spot for Vegetarian food in the area. This plaza has a huge parking lot so parking is easy and the store has plenty of tables so the wait usually isn't long to get a table. I placed an order to pick up a late dinner and I was not disappointed. I picked up the Stir Fried Egg Noodles, Clay Pot Peppered Fish, Stir Fried Eggplant. They were all good, but the fish was definitely my fave. All dishes were seasoned well, but not too salty which can be a problem with some places.

Unprofessional servers and substandard food quality; thus not worth recommending. More importantly, it is somewhat pricey.

I could munch on it all day lol Fresh steamed broccoli was good. I didn't think I would enjoy eating steamed brocs with just soy sauce. A little softer would be nice, but still good. The veg fish was an all time favorite. When I do happen to go to a vegetarian restaurant, I would order it (if available). We all loved the sauce in the fish. Even if you don't like the fish, mixing the sauce with rice would be good. Corn soup was a nice start. The corns could be a bit better, but would order it again. The almond pastry was yummy. We all liked the pastry on top more than the almond milk. It was a bit plain. Will definitely return when craving veg foods.

Ideal for bigger groups. There were only 3 of us but we ended up at a large table as that was the only table available. We got the crispy chicken with basil, fish with brown sauce and sizzling tofu. I enjoyed the tofu the best then the crispy chicken. The fish I think had five spice seasoning and seaweed (nori) to give it that fish flavor. I enjoyed the sauce on the fish but the flavor of the fish itself was just ok to me. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. Would go back again to try some of their other dishes.

We've had a couple veggie Viet places nearby, but hadn't tried this one just yet, so we stopped by on a Sunday night. When we pulled up, it was still rather empty, but we must have started the dinner rush because within 30 minutes the restaurant was packed! We picked two veggie noodle soups, which we came here for, but they ironically were everyone's least favorite dishes. Our top two dishes were the spring rolls and the cold noodles. Even so, everything was both light but flavorful, so mission accomplished! It's always pretty difficult to find a restaurant to suit the palate of my family, and no one walked away complaining, so I'll call this a win! Ultimately it's a place I'd come back if I were nearby but I probably wouldn't drive out for. Everything else: The interior is clean, pretty bare, and very much has the mom and pop store feel. It's nestled in a plaza with Asian architectural aesthetics, and shares the same lot as some other restaurants, a dance studio, and a Japanese goods store. There's a lot of spacious parking, so I imagine you won't have too much trouble making it there.

Overall a very good alternative but there are also still many good places if you don't care for the crazy ambiance or presentations at mom and pops spots. This is if your trying to compare with Ding tai fung, its kicked down a notch or so. Generally, better than the mom & pops yet toned down from the famous one. (Important Note: Be cautious of the high rating because this location offers a FREE DRINK for a "Google/Yelp Review." I hate these gimmicks, and I refuse. However, there's also street parking; sign says, "2 Hour Parking - 6AM to 6PM - Except Sunday." I quickly found street parking. Staff interaction is very minimal. Customers primarily order on the self-service kiosk. Staff briefly appears to bring the food and immediately return in the kitchen. The food was ready in four minutes. Crazy fast!! As mentioned, I ordered the "Beef Brisket Over Rice" ($10.99) with added Chicken Drumstick (additional $2.49). The meal is cheap & filling. Unfortunately, it's not very flavorful nor memorable. It all tastes like a reheated premade bowl from a convenience store. It's a hearty & affordable meal, but the protein has that dry aftertaste. Fortunately, the rice tasted fresh and hot. All in all, it's not bad. On ambiance, Joyness Eating (San Gabriel) is well-maintained. There's about five tables, and the location felt fairly clean. There's a gender neutral restroom, a big bottle of hand sanitizer, restful music, and a self-service water station. It felt comfortable. Overall, I had a forgettable experience at Joyness Eating (San Gabriel). At the very least, the food is very affordable and well-portioned. Thien Tam Vegetarian Restaurant proved me completely wrong. The standout dish for me was the vegetarian Bún Bò Huế, and honestly this is where they won me over. The broth was deeply flavorful, rich, and aromatic with that signature Huế spice and lemongrass heat. It had real depth and complexity, not a watered-down substitute version. The plant-based proteins had great texture and absorbed the flavors beautifully, to the point where I never felt like anything was missing. This wasn't "good vegetarian food." This was just excellent Vietnamese food, period. Everything tasted fresh, portions were generous, and the balance of spice, savory, and brightness was spot on. I would have preferred for it to have some kind of spice that lacked too. The drumsticks were the main item I visited for and they were good; however, they were on dowels vs. sugar cane... just a different vibe, not a deal breaker. Two issues with my visit here: 1. asked for a sweet chili sauce, but it has no chili in it, just a sugary sauce AND when I got my bill I was charged extra for the sauce but no mention of this when I ordered it. I have no issue paying for extra sauces 1. If the sauce is worth a hoot and 2. Awareness that I'm paying for it. Prices are a little high for the quality of food. The parking lot is a little undersized for the amount of businesses in the little strip mall area. One MAJOR complaint and issue 2. They claim the restroom is out of order (which I saw on previous reviewers posts, which was over 1 month ago)... idk how a business can operate without a restroom for customers. I get emergency situations, but how have they gone this long without a working restroom for customers? To make this situation even worse, it doesn't appear they have any neighboring businesses to partner with on this issue because if you need the restroom they tell you to go across the street to Trader Joe's. Next time I'm in the area, I'll just grab something from TJ's to eat and not worry about dining at My Vegan.
