We chatted while he made my Latte with an additional shot and almond milk and it dawned on me that sometimes we get very lucky to meet people who genuinely love what they do and Mike loves making coffee and chatting with people. I can't speak for the Lobbyist during other hours or for adult beverages but that morning before heading off to walk the entire floor of the Colorado Convention Center, I needed as much caffeine as possible to make it through the day. After it became clear that he wasn't going to respect our boundaries, I raised my voice (not yelling, just firm) and asked that he stop serving us and that another bartender take over due to his aggressive and inappropriate sexual behavior. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, he immediately told both of us to leave the bar. This was an incredibly uncomfortable situation to deal with, especially on New Year's Eve, and it left us feeling embarrassed and disrespected. The first thing my girlfriend said to me the next morning was how uncomfortable that bartender had made her feel, which says a lot. I truly wish we had never gone to this bar. No one should feel pressured, sexualized, or thrown out for speaking up when their boundaries are repeatedly ignored.
