Turns out that they're a catering business but after hearing my very special request, he just couldn't deny me the opportunity to taste their SWEET CAKES. And oh my goodness-- I AM BEYOND grateful. This is the epitome of hospitality and going beyond what is required. To cater to two normal individuals when you normally cater businesses (on a Sunday) is pretty amazing if you ask me. Checked this place out at the Columbia City farmers market and my taste buds were blown away. I was attracted by the 50's aesthetic and infographic type menu. We first got the Seattle Chicken and waffles hotcakes stick and DAMN was it tasty. The hotcake stick was topped with maple syrup and fresh strawberries. Despite the cake looking small, the waffle was quite dense and would've have definitely been filling if it hadn't been shared. We came back for dessert and to our dismay the blueberry and lemon cake was all sold out. Lesson learned, these hotcakes were selling like hotcakes. We tried the cherry filled cake instead and it was delightful. The hazelnutty goodness paired with the cherry made for a sweet but not too rich treat. I got the red-velvet waffle on a stick with organic cherries inside and a sweet cream cheese that you can slather on top. I absolutely loved it!! I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this. I mean, food on a stick is the best! And the idea of a custom made iron that lets them put the goodies INSIDE the waffle? So cool! Alas, I left pretty disappointed. Seattle Chicken and Waffle: 2 stars. The presentation was absolutely beautiful with fresh berries and edible flower petals, but the batter was not cooked all the way through and the chicken was pretty flavorless. The maple butter was pretty much the only thing adding any flavor, but it melted off into the bottom of the boat and I couldn't get it back onto the waffle because of the stick. I heard that My Sweet Lil Cakes (MSLC) was popping up at 4th & Pine. I had dropped by their regular location previously but didn't purchase anything that day. I decided to stop in for a bite to eat. The trailer is eye-catching and distinctive, which is something I always appreciate. This was one of the best customer service experiences I've had. Lots of food vendors get to know me over time. However, this was the first time I engaged with them and found them to be friendly, cheery, and very pleasant. I placed my order for a chicken and waffle and busied myself by taking pictures then got annoyed with a woman (presumably not an employee of MSLC but likely an acquaintance from the conversations I heard) shouting that this was the best food truck in Seattle. I appreciate her enthusiasm. After the 3rd time, I had enough and asked her how many food trucks she had been to. She said so many...more than she could count. Out of over 200 trucks in Seattle, she was unable to name a single one (including the one directly across the plaza). I tell this piece of the story because I go to a lot of trucks and I'm skeptical of such representations. From my perspective, MSLC is a legit option and I think less of what I hear from folks who are unable to be objective. Some of the reviews on this page also reflect the same vibe and that's not helpful to me as a consumer. For me, this business stands on its own and has a strong product and great service. At $7, I was a little concerned about the size. The waffle was flavorful without being sweet. I tasted everything first before indulging in the maple butter and syrup. Yes, you heard me right. That little concoction is brilliant! I broke open the waffle looking for the chicken, which appeared relatively unassuming. As I tasted it, I was surprised by well seasoned chicken with a peppery taste. The quality of the chicken is right in your face. It's clear that they use quality ingredients. After eating the waffle, I was still hungry which is disappointing because I can easily get plenty of options at $7 downtown that are filling. They have a special of 2 waffles and a drink for $13.25. That's not a great deal for me either because all I drink is tap water. My other minor criticism is that there were little burnt bits on various parts of my waffle. Since it also tasted burnt on those parts, it was not a pleasant experience. All-in-all, I like this trailer and will definitely be back. read more

They are quite amiable and heplful--even explaining how some menu items came to be. This was my first time there, so i tried two cakes. One was sweet (the blueberry lemon ricotta) and savory (free-range chicken maple syrup). You can imagine my ridiculous pleasure at eating these waffles on a stick. Friendly, upbeat, appreciative, smiling. Truck = 5 stars - super cute. Waffle - Cornbread Cheddar Jalapeno = 5 stars (if I could give 6, I would) and de-lish! Why just 4 stars? Simply: making the cake (stuffed waffle on a stick) takes just too long. I was told 7 minutes and it easily took over 10. That's not that big a deal, but if you had a ton of people in line, it would have taken far longer. I think if they work out the kinks of timing, they would be a 5 or even a 6 if Yelp allowed. Also, $10 is pretty pricy, although the quality was great. If you have the patience and the budget, the waffle is worth the wait. I cannot wait until my next encounter with MSLK. I tried this place today at the Queen Anne Farmers Market, and I was in love. They sold us when we were walking by with just a taste of the chicken and waffles. Too often chicken and waffles means a piece of fried chicken thrown on top of waffles. This was waffles wrapped around the ingredients and it was quiet delectable. Intrigued, we wound our way back to look at the options. While we talked to these adorable kids, they served up a few other free samples which were equally delicious. I'm already a fan of sweet and savory together and they have perfected the art. So I had the Green Chile and Cornbread with Cheese which was ridiculously mouthwatering. I washed it down with the lemonade and black tea which was quality, the lemonade was from real lemons which you could taste. They didn't overly sweeten it, which made it perfectly balanced to taste both the tea and lemonade. We were left wanting to try more, so my husband had the Beer Bacon Waffle which was equally delicious. We threw in a sweet choice with the red velvet and sweet cream cheese frosting with dark organic cherries, what a choice! A true OMG this is what dessert SHOULD be moment. It's a visually appealing truck, I like that the whole group is wearing the white starch shirts for the boys, and the gal has amazing fashion sense. The kids are all impeccably mannered and you just got a good feeling dealing with such a nice family run business.
