I had a terrible experience here and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I came in for an eyebrow service and clearly told the technician multiple times that I only wanted a clean-up. I emphasized that I like my brows thick and bushy. She nodded and told me to lean back, but didn't acknowledge my preferences beyond that. When she handed me the mirror, I was shocked. My eyebrows were extremely thin. Completely opposite of what I had asked for. When I expressed how upset I was, she plainly said "They were too thick before" dismissing everything I'd said. I wasn't heard, and instead of providing the service I asked for, she did what she wanted. I left on the verge of tears. A place that disregards a customers clear instructions and personal preferences should not be in business. I have never had this happen to me before, and I am in such shock that someone would basically disregard a person who is payings preference and do the complete opposite. I cannot in good conscience recommend this salon, especially for something as lasting as waxing. Truly beware. Truly disappointing and unprofessional. I've been to this nail salon 3 times (once every 2 week). My ONLY good experience was the very first one. My second time going was for the design pictured. I understand maybe not the easiest thing to do but... to not even have the design be centered? Let alone walking out with that they gave me. So frustrating. I would have much rather been told they just couldn't do it. I went back today for a simple color (pictured). I asked for a fill, a trim and the dark green color. Not only did I got get the trim that I requested (3 times) but I got blue polish after saying, and I quote, "wait is that blue?" To which he responded "it's the same". I even went as far as to point to the color we had already discussed... and his response was to just keep on painting. The beginning of the experience was equally as bad. He was watching his phone while using the nail drill and even stopped every now and then to scroll. I'm not the type to not pay for whatever service was completed, so of course I did. Know that weekends here are for walk in only, they don't take appointments. They also seem extremely short staffed for an establishment that is open on weekends and by walk in only. Got in at 12:45pm on a Sunday and was able to be seen at 1:40pm. The receptionist could not quote an actual wait time because he doesn't inquire with the staff how long their current worked services will take, ie if anyone upgraded their services while in the chair. Being able to provide the wait time would have been favorable. And the receptionist stated that he would understand if we couldn't wait so I took that as our business wasn't too important. 8 Jul 24, first time at this establishment & Vincent was my nail tech. I had a full set of nails & and pedicure. I paid $110 plus a $20 tip. When I left the salon, I was satisfied. I have been coming to this salon for over a year now and was delighted to find it. I had my regular nail tech, (Suzy) who was always pleasant and a joy to work with... not to mention the girl was GOOD! She was meticulous, but efficient and always had the health of my nails as her top priority. She took time to make sure the application and removal of my gel polish was as the manufacturer instructed as not to damage my nail bed due to constant drilling and over-filing. However, Suzy has had an extended leave of absence, and I bounced from nail tech to nail tech trying to find one who cared as much about my nail health as she and I was left with a void. Today, I made an appointment for a gel polish change only for my toenails with "any available tech" and was placed with Leka. First, when I was sat, I was given a basket of polish options, however, I was looking for a specific OPI color to match my nails (which I knew the name of). She handed me a book of OPI gel colors, but they were listed by a number instead of the color name. When I told her the name of the polish and it could possibly be one of three numbers, she brought one back to me, and it was not the one. I told her I was trying to match my nail color, showed her my nails, told her the name of the polish again, and said again it could possibly be one of several numbers, she told me to, "just pick a color." As I explained again for the third time that I knew the name of the polish (which is written on the bottles), and that it could one of a few similar shades, she asked for the numbers again and brought me three bottles. One of them was the right one. That was the small issue. It came off a bit rude, but I chocked it up to a possible language barrier. The real issue was in the removal of my gel polish. I always soak off my polish after filing the top coat to protect my nail bed, however, I made a last minute appointment and was amenable to making certain concessions for the sake of time. Leka proceeded to attempt to drill off my polish, but was a bit too aggressive as my nail bed began to burn. When I jumped and asked for a soak-off to not damage my nail bed, she said that is not how it is removed, switched to a different drill bit and attempted to proceed. When I refused and explained again that is how the manufacturer says to remove the product to preserve nail health, she did put some acetone on a strip of cotton, laid it across my nails and wrapped them in foil. A soak off takes a few minutes to work, so I was surprised when she was removing the cotton almost immediately after applying it, attempted one scrape, then proceeded to reach again for the drill. I tried again to explain to her the purpose of the soak-off and the time it takes. She then got up and said, "Well, someone else can do [sic] for you, I have other customers and that takes too long" and left. That was the worst customer service experience I have had at this salon. The young man at the front desk tried his best to remedy the situation, but there was not much he could do. He said there was only 4 other techs there and nobody would remove the polish without drilling. I had a 3:30 appointment for a 30 minute service. Sometime while I was waiting in limbo, the owners arrived and at 4:30 Ms. Han said she would take care of me. She was done by 4:57...in less than 30 min. Ms. Han is very good, gentle and efficient, so maybe her skill level is a bit higher than Leka, but for Leka to just leave me sitting there, polish half removed with foil on my feet was unacceptable. I am saddened to leave a negative review as all of my other experiences have been positive, but I feel compelled to share this experience for all who would like to have beautifully manicured nails whilst preserving nail health. If you don't mind, or even prefer the drill as your method of polish removal, by all means, disregard this review. I will even be returning to this salon a, but if Ms. Han or Suzy isn't on the schedule, I will be polishing my own nails. read more

My sister and I wanted to get pedicures done, but we were already in the Chester area and so we decided to find one nearby. After much consideration, we decided to come to My Day and Nail Spa. Upon entering we were welcomed right away. The spa is absolutely gorgeous and nicely designed! When I was picking out colors I was thinking, "Was this it?" and then we were ushered to the back wall to pick out more colors. Being OCD, I was happy to see that the nail polish was organized by color. Providing me an easy pick. Finally, we were seated in the pedicure chair and was offered refreshments and fruits. The staff came back with a tray of our can sodas. I didn't want any fruit. The owner was really nice. She told us that this salon been open for 7 weeks and once they get their ABC license they will offer alcoholic beverages. The only thing that concerned me is that there were no liners in their bowls for pedicures, because of sanitary reasons. Hopefully, this change will be implemented in the future. UPDATE: I visited urgent care yesterday and medical professionals confirmed that I have sustained SECOND DEGREE BURNS to both of my eyelids as a direct result of BURNING HOT WAX being applied to my eyelids at My Day Nails and Spa on March 8, 2021. These burns have the potential to result in PERMANENT SCARRING. I have filed a formal complaint against this business with Virginia's Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation and have been advised to seek legal counsel. PLEASE do not visit this business! I would hate for someone else to have to experience the emotional, mental, and physical pain and embarrassment resulting from severe facial burns. Not to mention the ongoing medical bills involved in burn and scar treatment. These business owners should be ashamed of themselves. *Response to business owner: Ma'am, the skin has clearly been burned off of my eyelids. Instead of taking responsibility for this mistake, apologizing, and offering me a refund, you continually argue that I am having a freak allergic reaction to your apparently very special type of wax. This is ridiculous and a waste of both of our time. I hope you treat your other clients with more respect and empathy in the future. I visited My Day nail salon this morning for a gel manicure and an eyebrow wax. I was very happy with my manicure. However, the top layer of my eyelid skin was removed during the wax. I regret not speaking up the second I felt my eyebrows burning, even though I knew something felt wrong, but I didn't want to accuse the waxer of burning me until I could get to my car and check my eyebrows in the mirror. When I confronted the man behind the counter about my eyelids being burned, he told me he could not see anything and asked me to go back and speak with the waxing technician. She told me that she saw I was burned and then tried to put hydrocortisone cream on my raw skin (I declined). The man behind the front desk (possibly the owner?) then proceeded to lecture me about how I was just having an allergic reaction to the wax and it happens sometimes. This a follow up from my previous review, responding to the owner. From reading the tone of the review, I'm pretty sure it's the husband responding and not Hue. I'm just going to say this, go to their google reviews and read the ones that the salon responds to, they NEVER take accountability and blame the customer for their wrong doings. Their response was is a lie. I never asked for multiple coats of polish. I never yelled, I had my 6 year old daughter with me and it was simply not worth me yelling. Keeping my money away from their business along with hundreds of others will have way more of an effect than me yelling. I am a licensed cosmetologist and I know proper technique. The nail tech rushed and did not properly buff my nails before polishing them. I want it to be clear I did NOT do my own fingernails. I did the gel polish on my toes, I am licensed and educated to do so. Instead of my nail tech taking the polish off to buff them properly he placed multiple coats over what was already uneven. As far as me wanting my nail tech to be more social, that is also untrue. My nail tech watches his phone while doing my nails, I told the owner that my nail tech needs to be attentive while doing my nails, not social. The spa is brand new and gorgeous inside. You can tell the owners really put in a lot of work. A friend recommended that I go and make an appointment with Hue, I had to book a week out. She does great work and takes her time. I got a full dip set and love my nails! She pays attention to details and makea sure all your nails are even. I highly recommend visiting this salon! I really wanted to like this place but this is my third unsatisfactory encounter. So, today May 25,2020 I had a scheduled appointment for 10am. At 10am two employees (the Caucasian man who sits at the front desk, and a women) pull up together in a car, turn on the "OPEN" sign, then they go inside and lock to door. At 10:06 two more employees enter the establishment. At 10:08 I entered. The gentle man asked me what I was here for ! I explained I had a 10am appointment. He searched for my name but couldn't find it. Then he asked me my last name. I told him, but explained that yesterday when I came in and made the appointment, he never asked me for my last name!!! Then I showed him the text message I received confirming my appointment and he said, oh here you are (my name was misspelled which is probably why they couldn't find me). Then he asks me to go wash my hands, and pick a color. I did both and then stood there, as the employees continually moved about opening the salon. Finally someone escorted me to a chair and I was seated by 10:15. I will say all the employees had face masks. They were practicing social distancing ensuring people were properly spaced out. One of my main reasons for continuing to visit this nail salon, is because they go good on my eyebrows but I'm considering finding a different nail salon. The decor is beautiful! I've gone to this nail salon since mid-2021 and they have never disappointed me. You can almost always immediately get sat in front of someone when you come in with an appointment (even if you're there a bit early) I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes. Everyone there is great at what they do, I've never had a bad set. It is such a clean and well kept salon. The pricing is not too expensive either. They are all so friendly and always offer a drink when you sit down. They make sure that you like what they're doing before they continue. Hue is very welcoming and friendly and she remembered my name after coming only a few times. I went in yesterday for a fill in and they sent me home with a Christmas present which was so kind! Then the prices list online is different than in Salina d you have to pay extra for EVERYTHING that I thought were part of a re pedicure any other place I've visited. $60 pedicure is outrageous that was no that great to brag about. And let's not talk about how the cost for gel polish and how it looked after, never again!!! Wow this place is amazing. Kelvin did an awesome job on my nails and pedicure. I've finally found a GREAT nail technician. The place is huge with plenty of space to take on large groups and there are so many pedicure options to choose from. I got the hot stone pedicure. You're also offered a beverage while you get a service done. Try the coffee. It's so good. If I could give Kelvin 10 stars I seriously would. Today was my 2nd time visiting My Day spa and the 2nd time they were running late by over 10 minutes. Both times I scheduled an appointment online and paid a $10 deposit for my appointment. If I am forced to pay a deposit for my appointment I would expect them to be on time. The first time they were running late I stayed and they did end up giving me a discount so I decided to give them another chance today. After waiting for 10 minutes I went to the front desk and asked for my $10 deposit back so I could leave. She looked for over 5 minutes and said she "couldn't find it in the system". So, I left and they are apparently planning on keeping my deposit. I will be disputing it with my bank to ensure the funds are correctly returned. Don't be fooled by the decent decor here, they are a typical poorly managed nail salon with terrible customer service. read more

My fiance and I have been going to this nail spot for a few months now. Its in Chester right on Route 10 by I-295. It is very convenient to our house in Hopewell. We found it through yelp and it was one of the best decisions yet! We love this place! Its a new place run by this guy who is super friendly and makes sure we are taken care of from the moment we walk through the door. He offers us fruit and drinks immediately. The staff is very nice and does not try to pressure you into buying the more expensive services, like other salons. Management is very rude! The male that sits at the front desk (manager or husband) that schedules appointments hung up the phone on me. He stated that the nail techs are their own private contractors and they can't control their schedule and that I would have to speak with them directly. This is not the first time that I've experienced this type or rude and dismissive treatment by him in particular. His wife (Hue) on the other hand is very accommodating. The owner (male) hung up the phone on me!! After I asked if I could speak with the tech to confirm availability. WOW!! Honestly I respect everyone's time and feel like the customers time should be considered as well. I made my appointment well in advance and also waited at least 30mins before I was serviced. Although the environment is very well kept, clean and they offer refreshments the manager (male) and how he does business is TERRIBLE! I have been going to My Day since moving to Va. As of late their service and products have been sub par. I've stood at the counter for five minutes or more while the employees chatted before checking me in. They didn't acknowledge me, I got tired of standing and had to say "ummmm, I'm here for an appointment." When the other gentleman was there I never had any problems. I get dip and lately the top coat has been chipping and peeling off which should not happen. For reference, I sit at a computer all day so it's not like I'm out doing manual labor in which my nails would take a beating.
