I'm not sure what all of these positive reviews are about but this guy is AWFUL. I took an expensive WHITE linen dress for a SIMPLE hem and he messed that up! It was quite honestly the easiest thing in the world to do and it looks horrible!!! The hem is sloppy and crooked and I don't know if he spilled something on it or used a dirty iron but there is a HUGE YELLOWED STAIN at the bottom front and center! I mean a tailor should be able to do a BASIC hem (maybe he was trained in the dark??). Oh and he offered to make me a couple of masks out of the left over material for an additional $10 each. They are SO THICK and look ridiculous. Now I have to take the dress to my dry cleaners and PRAY that they can get the stain out and ask them to fix the hem. TERRIBLE. Word of advice to the "tailor"--if you are unable to do a job properly--just SAY NO. read more

Finally found one "Mustafa Tailoring Alterations". My wife needed 5 items to be tailored. Our go to guy(s) in Astoria is just to far from Cliffside Park. Tolls and mileage adds $20 to your bill. What do I do; did you say "Yelp". Mustafa Tailoring Alterations operates out from the top floor of a residential house. So you would not find him by walking down the business area of Union City. This is why Yelp and I are good friends. My wife called and asked some general questions; cost, hours, etc. Guy was so nice, friendly and attentive by phone. Off we go to get job done. Long story short 2 or 3 pants and 2 jackets tailored $90. Very fair. Best part; very good work. A "pro". Told my wife selves to wide on a jacket; zip, zip; looks great. I had a good experience with Mustafa's Business. I had my CK suit tailored, measurements took 20-30 minutes, I wanted my sleeves tapered, my pant leg hemmed/tapered, and Jacket midsection taken in. I did not feel rushed or pressured when getting tailored or when I received my final product to try on. Place is located on the second floor of a house. At first I was skeptical because he pinned one side of the sleeve and leg, but i was pleasantly happy with the final product. Of course I was nervous since I had not used him before and was going based on reviews of total strangers but he was fantastic! My dress was too small and he changed the back so it would fit as I lost weight. He also added a bustle to my dress and shortened my reception dress. He worked with me many times and did several fittings with me until it was perfect and exactly how I wanted it for my big day. David Mustafa is the MAN!!! Period!!! I have been looking for him for 20+yrs and now that I have found him, he is stuck with me for good. My father worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in the mens department so 7 days a week he was in business formal or casual on the weekends. I grew up with his sense of style and I know what I like and and what I do not like in how my clothes fit and drape my body. I suffered greatly dealing with the status quo and had my expensive clothing butchered by "tailors" who were hacks and did not know what they were doing. I stuck to the Men's Wearhouse because that was the only alternative I had to buy my suits. Once my friend recommended Mustafa to me, he came to my location, measured me and put me at ease. I finally felt comfortable wearing my own clothes and fit the way it works for me. I am now in the process of having Mustafa customize a suit and shirt collection for me. This does not include winter coats sitting in the closet I could not use but now, will have altered and can be reused again. THE BEST PART!!!! he can take old jackets and make the new again but adding the leather patch to the elbows of threadbare jackets. I am going to save so much money it is ridiculous, and that is why I love Mustafa. He is very polite, MUY SIMPATICO and takes pride in his craft. Finally, additional two examples of how Mustafa brought value for me. I went to an outlet store and purchased 2 suits, one of them was a size too big but the clearance price of $69 dollars for black pinstriped suit was a steal. Once Mustafa got done with it, it looked like a paid $400-$500 dollars for these suits. The last example, I went to Mens Warehouse and purchased 5 suits on sale. I was measured, fitted and when I came back for my clothes, only 1 out of the 5 suits fit me properly. To make the adjustments, that were not done properly, they wanted to charge me AGAIN for the areas that they did not touch the first time!!!!! RIDICULOUS. I politely said no thank you and took them to Mustafa who made the changes for me until I felt comfortable in my clothes.
