I love Mr Sabino's work, it is true top notch professional tailoring. He takes his time, makes sure you try it before the work is done to make sure the fit is correct. I do not fear taking any garment to Mr. Sabino because I know I will be satisfied with the results. When altering dresses or skirts. he does the markings on the garment while you wear it, using a tool. This is great because if you have a bit more "back", having it marked while you are wearing it ensures the end result will fall on your body evenly. I just moved nearby and needed to get a couple suits tailored ASAP. I came to Sabino's and was quickly taken care of by a nice gentlemen (the owner). He was very friendly and explained that he had been there for 36 years. This place is outdated, but it helps give an authentic old school vibe to it. They have street parking and both times I was able to find a spot right in front. My suits were ready the day they were promised and they came out perfect. He did a great job and they fit exactly how I wanted them to. Do NOT go to this awful hateful man!!!!!! He is mean and does not know how to tailor. He is also into bait and switch!!! How did he get such good reviews? He must have paid for them. I brought my dress into him to be taken in 2 inches on the side. He tells me $50 to do this. I thought it was expensive but said to myself that he has good reviews so decided to go ahead. He didn't finish the job and told me I had to pay $60 !!!! I have a pic of my receipt and what he asked me to pay. I am happy to send it to anyone who needs proof. I told him I am only going to pay for what he did because he refused to finish the job. He grabbed my arm and twisted it!! Wouldn't let me go and he said "you brown people don't want to pay." There aren't many genuine tailors left today. In a world where we want everything fast and convenient, many of us fall prey to those so-called "tailors" working out of dry-cleaners. Sabino is a very nice guy who has been in the business since he was a kid in Italy. Moreover, he knows his trade! . I went to him to have a suit jacket I purchased from EXPRESS online tailored. It needed to be taken in at the waist and the sleeves needed to be shortened. The instant he saw it he noticed another manufacturing defect -one sleeve was slightly longer than the other. I had been oblivious to this, but the man knows what to look for. Unfortunately, the sleeves have genuine button holes, making it difficult to adjust the length. In no time at all, however, Sabino worked his magic. The end result is that I have a perfectly tailored suit that looks like a million bucks. Sleeves + waist came to a total of $73. A good price as far as REAL tailors go. Bottom line. You can go to a dry-cleaner or discount "tailor" and pay less for the job - then throw away the ruined clothes afterward. I highly recommend paying an expert to do the job right - especially with dress clothes. You get what you pay for read more

I struggled with how to rate this shop but I'll give it 3 stars because it wasn't a terrible overall experience. First, it's not located in the nicest part of Clifton and I had to drive through some questionable areas to get there. Which is the main reason I probably won't go back. The second reason I probably won't go back: they don't accept credit cards (which he failed to mention to me until my alterations were already completed and I was there to pick up my clothes). Come on, who doesn't accept credit cards? And who carries cash anymore??? I don't think he even accepts checks, not that I carry those on me either. I don't know if the prices are fair or not because I'm really completely clueless about how much tailoring should cost but I'll tell you what I paid: I had 2 dresses, 2 tops and a pair of pants altered and it cost me $66. Also, my boyfriend took his suit in for alterations: shortened the pants, expand the jacket and waist and steam it clean- $70. Don't really know if these are outrageous or extremely reasonable prices though. The one thing I did like was the owner- I'm guessing he IS Sabino? Adorable friendly old Italian guy with a fairly heavy accent. Very accommodating and concerned with what you want in your alterations. He does work fairly quickly but I think that's because he's not very busy. I dropped off all my clothes on a Monday and they were ready by Wednesday. He's been in the shop for 30 years, as he told it to me, and I hope he has continued success there. As for me, I'm looking for a new tailor. read more

I agree with most of the high rates for this tailor shop. He is a master of this trade and he has been open by himself for over 30 years. I applaud this man for his talent for staying open this day and age. With tech and big named stores opening around him, he managed to stay in business. This says a lot of of his quality and service. My altering was very minor and it was for a wedding for the following Saturday, I told him it was a rush job and he did it the next day. For $10.00 and next day service who can beat that! I Went in today to get a suit tailored. Needed to have the pants tapered in a bit. This guy literally said " buy clothes that fit you" .... what would be the purpose of getting clothes tailored then? I have been going to Sabino for almost two decades now. Sabino's tailoring got me though a career on Wall St. I have let him work on my most expensive garments. Always a great job. Its a shame these old artisans are a dying breed. As a clothes horse who likes dressing up, I wonder who will be tailoring suits in 20 years. Every town used to be able to support a good tailor. After my tailor retired, I had a lot of reservation about giving my clothes to someone i didn't know to work on. After reading the positive reviews I decided to give him a shot. I couldn't be happier with the work. I brought in two suits on Friday and had them back on Wednesday. He took in the perfect amount on the jackets, left just enough cuff showing on the sleeves and the pants were perfect short break hems. He's been altering and creating since he was 11 years old and in business by himself for 35 years in the same location. Despite his age and the basic appearance of the shop, he is very in tune to today's fashion trends. He is extremely friendly, has a very quick turn around, and very reasonably priced. This tailor knows what he is doing. His first name is actually Sabino. Last name is something Italian and long as he mentioned my two letter last name was very easy compared to his. The place is a tiny wooden shop and it is a one man operation, but it gets the job done. There are two little fitting rooms to change when you enter and the back room behind the double saloon doors is his workshop where the mirrors are. He does quick work as I dropped my clothing off on Tuesday and they were ready by Saturday. Not sure what time he opens, but he ends at 5:30pm. Cash only like someone else mentioned. I told him maybe he might want to get a credit card machine and he said he's too old for that at this point. Plenty of street parking in front. An assortment of old and modern clothing, both men's and women's, that had been dropped off by other customers in his workshop as well. He showed me a Canali suit that he had done a lot of work on for another customer so it seems like people trust this man's work with high end items. This was my first time here and I got three blazers altered. All three items were from different designers and all three were altered very neat and clean just as I had requested. He measures it while you wear it with a bar of soap to mark where you want it altered and takes time to make sure you tell him what you need done. Very friendly and likes to watch soccer. Prices for each: waist ($40) and sleeves with buttons ($28) was fair. I would trust him with any other article of clothing and recommend if you want quality work done right the first time. read more

AMAZING WORK!! I had a bridesmaid dress altered by someone else who took in the bust 2 inches too much. My sister's wedding was in 5 days!! Panic. Should I break a rib to zipper it?? On LABOR DAY, he met with me at the shop. Seriously LABOR DAY!! He did an amazing job taking out the other alterations without ruining the fabric and finished in plenty of time in case I needed additional fittings. I will never, ever go anywhere else. My husband has had some suits altered and I've had my son school pants done at Sabina.On two occasions I have bought my son school pants to. E hemmed and they were too long. They were not where we agreed. When returned them 2 days later he said he was going to charge me again. I personally feel he should back up his work and not recharge a customer if he didn't do what was agreed on. He said that's what we agreed on and it wasn't his fault. I wasn't going to argue with him so I just said once shame on him ,twice shame on me for trying him again. My husband and I will never return. I was looking around for a tailor shop to fix some jeans I had. I had a poor experience with a regular dry cleaning place and found this shop. The owner is one of the nicest people I've met.
