I've brought one black blazer dress & a feathery red dress that had to be brought due to sizing issues and of course the zipper! This place is tucked away in the heart of residential Secaucus, and has been for decades. The same can be said for the fine gentlemen who own and work at this establishment. I was a bit nervous at first because i've had some horrible tailoring experiences. The clothes were done perfectly. The turnaround time is extremely fast as well, typically 3 days. I needed a bridesmaid dress fitted for a wedding at the end of April, but I naturally pushed off finding a tailor until a week and a half before the wedding. Without an appointment, I walked into Certo's, and I was able to immediately get my dress marked for alterations. I needed a hem (of 3 layers) and an alteration to tighten the back of the dress. I knew I was cutting it close, but he was able to get it done in about a week. Wow! Certo Tailors are fantastic! Great talent, they know how do make it happen. Fast. They have done everything from shortening shirt sleeves (which I didn't even think was possible) to altering suits/jackets and they've come out perfect every time. Deal with Hershey, who is really accommodating and friendly. Al Certo who you will probably also meet if you go there, is a truly original character who made custom suits for stars like Frank Sinatra. If you're looking for a GOOD tailor that knows what he's doing in the NYC/NJ area, look no further. This place has been around for decades and the work really shows. It's got that real old-school Italian mobster vibe, down in the basement of an old building. CERTOS has its own unique personality. I've been in emergency services for years and have always brought all of my uniforms here. I also have a bit of a strange athletic build (shmedium, if you will) and need most of my tops altered. Harsh gets it done in a timely fashion without cutting any corners. Aside from my uniforms, he's tailored my suits, sweaters, dress pants, dress shirts, and even some of my casual wear. Because of this place, I'm always looking sharp. I read some reviews mentioning the pricing, but I have to say, this is truly a "you get what you pay for" kind of place. If you're going to spend money on good clothes, why cut corners and seek cheap tailoring? If you're in the area and get your clothes tailored anywhere else, you're throwing your money away. A hidden gem in Secaucus. Harsh the tailor is a wizard at what he does. Very humble and professional at all times. I have spent well over thousands of dollars on fancy BS so called NY tailors. When I saw his rating on Yelp, i figured why not. I started off with pants then I decided to let him do my suits. 4 months later he has done for me 15 suits and not including my vests for my three-piece suits. This place is awesome. Al and Hershey have owned this place for over 30 years and they're such great guys. Service is fantastic and they will have you in and out in no time. I went in today and Hershey altered my suit while I got crunk on sangria with Al. Drinks came with a side of stories about the "good old days", which definitely had me laughing (where the hell else will you get service like that?). Bottom line, prices are reasonable, service is excellent, and turnover time is quick. I'll never go to another tailor again. read more

I've honestly had the worst experience with this tailor. When I called he hung up and said I don't want promotional calls and I stated I just wanted to get shoulders fixed on a dress for an event I am hosting. He tells me the dress will be done by Saturday at 2pm. I go to get the dress and no one is there and no one is picking up the phone. He never called me about the dress & I had to go get a new one. I have been fortunate to inherite couture clothing from my friend, however, they are one size to big. I have been using Harsh for close to 5 years, and once he is finished, every piece fits customed made. I've been going there for many years and Al was good but Hirsh is very good he has taken expensive suits that were dated and bought them back in to todays styles he can deconstruct a dated suit and make it look like you just had it made to today look. Hirsh has tailored over three dozen suites about seventy five blazers and over one hundred pants. All very expensive and he has given them new life . He can make anything suits, pants, shirts and for a fraction what it would cost at a Nieman's or at Barny's or Armani's . He even tailored leather jackets and made them look coustom . the new issue of G Q has an article about tailors if you are lucky enough to find a good one treat him good for they are rare to find and they will always make you look your best.
