While Murray's has been a Twin Cities favorite for generations, this was our first visit to celebrate my hubby's birthday. It was a Sunday evening so the restaurant was fairly quiet. The interior is relaxing and nice. It's what you think it should feel like for a nice steakhouse. The service was good. Nothing extra special or over the top. I did mention on our reservation that it was my husband's birthday and we were seated in a very nice corner booth and the server also mentioned the birthday which was great! Food was very good. Delicious steaks and sides! And the birthday cake was great too!!

Came here for our work Christmas lunch and honestly, it was perfect. We were able to order from the dinner menu which made every thing 10x better. This really reminds me of an old school steakhouse and I love that vibe because I feel like some new age steakhouses get too creative. I love that it has all of the traditional menu items. The escargot was lovely, not overcooked, it was just amazing in a lovely garlic butter served with some crusty bread. Delish. The mushrooms, creamed spinach, and asparagus were all perfectly cooked and exactly what you would hope for at such an establishment. Service was impeccable, drinks came quickly, ambiance on point. The ribeye was cooked to perfection. Couldn't ask for anything more!

What an institution. Solid. Consistent. Excellent. One of our go-to places when celebrating special, memorable moments. The food is top notch. The service never fails.

Raspberry pie! That's the reason I wanted you o try Murray's. I love raspberry and never had it in a pie form like the way Murray's prepares it. The pie is on the sweeter side, which stunts the natural tartness of the raspberry. I also grabbed a salmon salad which was a good dinner. The chocolate cake also called my name and I enjoyed answering. Good service. Casual. Please come and create your own experience.

Great upscale steakhouse that I went to with coworkers during a work trip. Lots of options and I always get the ribeye. Service was great, brought out the bread, and explained the specials and drinks. Very casual but intimate atmosphere. Food was cooked perfectly and sides were chose were asparagus and risotto. Everyone was happy with their food and I would definitely come back.

Went to Murray's for my birthday dinner. Had reservations and we were seated immediately. The service here is a step above top notch. Entering from the street, the bar is on the right and the main dining room is forward. Started the night with a nice Spanish red. They have an extensive wine menu and craft cocktails as well. First to was the crab and corn chowder. It was great. Second up was the lobster appetizer, which was an Australian lobster tail in a butter and lemon sauce. Unfortunately this was over cooked. For the price, it definitely was not worth. Main couse was a porterhouse and potatoes in a cheddar sauce. The porterhouse was perfectly cooked and really delicious. The potatoes were okay, but a little under seasoned. Still the meal was pretty good. For dessert there was a molten fugde cake topped with ice cream. That was also good. All in all a great meal, but definitely would only come here for special occasions, as the bill was quite hefty.

Came for a drink (perfectly made), French onion soup (near perfection) and ordered the highly recommended raspberry pie (unique, fresh and light). The service was outstanding and the ambiance was also nice. I dressed business casual but others were casual to dressy.

I went here for a retirement celebration for a former coworker. I do not eat steak and did not see much of anything else I would eat on the menu. I ended getting a baked potato & Mac and cheese. The sides come family style so I shared the Mac and cheese with others at the table. The food was basic for what I got but good. My coworker called a bit ahead and ordered the raspberry pie, it was interesting. I got a mule cocktail and that was good. Overall a good experience. The service was great and they were attentive.

Old school done right. We celebrated my mother's 92nd birthday this evening and all enjoyed the occasion. Two of us had fish, one (a vegetarian) had the beet salad, and the rest of us had steak. My brother's peppercorn steak was excellent. I had the small dinner steak which was very good, along with French onion soup and Szechuan green beans. The Sazerac cocktail was excellent, and I followed it all with a port. They know what they're doing at Murray's and the place was full.

    Chateaubriand (Tenderloin)
    Jay S.

Among everything I have eaten, majority of it is very salty, which is what has ultimately contributed to my rating. However, flavor aside I will say that the texture is consistently on point, from the crab cakes to the tenderloin steak. I still had a great experience and I would recommend this establishment as a solid steakhouse for those that are looking for good steak. My friend and I got the chateaubriand for two, and proceeded with French onion soup and asparagus for the sides. The French onion soup had very soft caramelized onions along with cheese that formed a strong layer to maintain the hotness. It was very salty, so I kind of did something taboo and quickly poured some water in it and it worked beautifully in both making it cooler and less salty. The asparagus wasn't salty, but was in contrast kind of plain, which wasn't a problem because asparagus just tasted good regardless. The tenderloin was indeed very tender and cooked perfectly medium rare! I felt like the outside had a bit too much salt, probably because it was seasoned with additional salt after the steak was cooked. Still, I definitely enjoyed it. By checking in to Yelp, I also obtained a coupon for a chef's choice desserts, which was ice cream with caramel on top of a piece of browning, and it tasted very good. I was happy about having a free dessert at all. Overall, I am happy that I have given Murray's a try even if I don't really eat steak, especially because it was around my birthday time and I tried something new!

    Chateaubriand for Two
    Tiana D.

Murray's has been a family mainstay for celebrations. The chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and was wonderfully tender. But it was a little too salty for our table's liking. We upgraded our sides and it ended up being so much food! Leftovers for days! The favorite side was the au gratin potatoes by far!! The loaded hashbrowns were also incredible. The Thai Brussels sprouts were a little too sweet and the macaroni and cheese was a little gritty. The service here is always fantastic and this time was no different. Our server made excellent recommendations and was very attentive throughout the evening. We were seated at a great table in the back by the kitchen, but the restaurant was still a little loud and made conversation hard to hear.

Wow. Drove by when I got to Mnpls and it looked like a staple. We had a huge group- they were so accommodating to us. The food was so so good. Most went with the filet, I opted for the scallops which were delicious. So many side options, we had green beans, Mac n cheese, au gratin potatoes and mushrooms- the mushrooms were 10 stars. So glad we found this place!

It has Prohibition-themed decor, but I wouldn't quite call it a speakeasy, as there wasn't any guise to entering or accessing the space. My only critique is that the space is quite dated, but not in a cool way. It could really use an update to the paint and interior to maintain itself as a "destination" versus just another hotel bar with a view. The bartenders were quite friendly and helpful during our visit. We had an Old Fashioned and a Paper Plane during our visit! Both cocktails were absolutely delicious and perfectly made. I used to live in Atlanta, currently live in Austin, and have experienced nightlife in Nashville/Savannah/Miami. Thus, my expectations were sky high. Based on my research it appears the Twin Cities have limited options compared to the above 5 cities. And promising options like "Fool Me Once" were listed as already closed. There was a short line outside & it was chilly so I couldn't wait to be let in. There was no cover which usually means expensive drinks and that's exactly the case ($13-$14 per shot). The main floor was quite empty when we arrived around 11:30pm so I made a beeline for the basement hidden behind the bar, which I didn't see until I posed for my neon sign photo. Downstairs there is another bar to the right when you are at the foot of the stairs, and the famous disco room is to your left. We went on Saturday night and it was packed to the brim! I moseyed my way up to the DJ booth but it was annoying having to jostle the vacant & occupied VIP tables. My friend and I danced a little but left within an hour because it was so stuffy. I will say the music was good, and the bar overall looked clean. I approached the bar and asked for a dirty martini, specified my vodka preference and requested a lesser amount of the brine. Brandy (the bartender), began preparing the cocktail and I knew immediately that she didnt know what she was doing. I tasted a sip of the prepared cocktail and was very disappointed. I asked Brandy if another bartender could prepare the cocktail. Brandy found Dylan. Dylan was excellent. Dylan asked questions about my preference in vodka, how much brine I's like and asked if I wanted a vermouth rinse. Dylan measure the ingredients well and prepared the perfect cocktail. I was so impressed, I continued to order cocktails from Dylan for the remainder of the night and tipped him well. Later in the night, Brandy reapproached me and asked, "You don't trust me to make you a drink?" I explained to Brandy that once I have a bad experience with a bartender or server, I rather try a different server/bartender. It wasn't personal, but I refuse to pay for bad or mediocre service. While Brandy wasn't rude or mean, I believe she could benefit from more training in cocktail crafting and delivering an experience to the customer. The W was one of the host hotels for the official Prince Celebration 2022 festivities and the official welcome party was held at The Living Room. As to be expected, this party resulted in lots of people who came to dance, drink and to celebrate the 'Purple Yoda from Minnesota'. Surprisingly, this space was an excellent option for the party it has a dance floor area along with a large well-stocked bar which easily accommodated everyone's drink choice. Add to that, they had a few Purple drink specials for the night which were tasty. The bartenders did a great job in processing the nonstop drink orders and the servers were kept very busy throughout the night. When not used for parties, the ambiance is much more laid-back. As the name says, it has more of a 'living room' feel. In addition to the long bar, there are many sections of lounge seating (chars, couches, etc.) which are perfect for unwinding. Even after the party, the bar continued to be well-stocked; so well-stocked that a friend and I made a couple of discoveries while sipping one afternoon. To our surprise, they had a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle (10 year) along with a bottle of Weller Single Barrel. It's rare to find either at a bar; having both made for an amazing find. My friend and I quickly made it our mission to empty both bottles so we would each have a souvenir from The Living Room (we succeeded). Following the welcome party, the bartenders could have been a bit tired but that was far from the case, they were as energetic and welcoming as they were at the party. If interested in food to go with your adult beverage, they work directly with Manny's Steakhouse (also attached to The W) which means anything from appetizers to a complete steak dinner can be ordered and enjoyed while in The Living Room. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I like watching the DJ in action sometimes when I go out dancing. She was playing some good dance music. Before you head to Mansion, you have to come with an open mind and lots of forgiveness in your heart. Drink a lot or take a chill pill before you come because this place has lots of rules. The night we were here, there were more security guards and "hostess" sweeping the floor than regular customers. I call them hostess, but I don't really know what they do other than stand around looking gorgeous and smiling. They didn't greet us when we came in or take our drink orders throughout the night so I don't really know what they do. I have never been to a club where they force you to either wear your darn jacket or pay for coat check service and only if you can find it due to poor signage. Firstly, I was told to remove my jacket from laying it on the arm rest of a couch that was supposedly reserved for an invisible party because no one showed up. Secondly, they tell me I can't put my jacket on the bar stool when we finally found some kind souls to share their limited bar seating area with us!! Really!!!!!!!!!?????? Mansion?????? My last encounter with Mansion's rules (whew this one tops the icing on the cake), I put down my empty champagne glass on a nearby table because we were having so much fun dancing that I didn't want to risk breaking a glass on the dance floor only to be told I have to put my glass at the bar! In short, he is telling me "bus your own empty glass, lady!" I asked him if he could take the glass away for me only to be refused because he is too good to do just that (provide good customer service) because he has a black suit on and an ear piece. I am a paying customer Mansion!!!??? Some advise for Mansion- let loose on your rules! There are not enough tables to put down our darn drinks so we can dance hands free! Instead, you have too many Reserved couches on the nights when your joint was half empty.
