Service was attentive, but also not the friendliest. I got the steak hoagie which I enjoyed the texture, but too salty and I was not a fan of the hot slaw. The mozzarella sticks were also served with cocktail sauce which I found odd. It's an old timey place so if that's your vibe then try it.

Daily special: Ribeye with coleslaw and mashed potatoes

Super friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. My coworkers and I stopped for an early dinner. They had a daily special menu and most of us got the ribeye with 2 sides for $20. One coworker ordered the filet mignon. Our steaks were quick and the ribeye was pretty good, low on fat and juicy. It was well seasoned, the butter probably helped. I got coleslaw and mashed potatoes as sides, both were good. All of us who got the ribeye were happy. The filet mignon unfortunately was undercooked. She asked for it medium but it came out rare in the middle. She asked it cooked a little longer but it was medium rare at best, she just took it as is. Disappointed in the ability to properly cook a steak, especially one at regular price. But the rest of the food was good.

Decided to go to a neighborhood standby for dinner tonight We were not disappointed. Our waitstaff was right on it. Our orders for drinks were taken and he asked if we wanted to wait on ordering dinner We knew what we wanted so ordered right then. I had chopped steak with mushrooms snd onion and the hot house salad. My husband had the New York strip. Both were prepared perfectly In the background a couple provided 60's music and provided the perfect atmosphere Since we were here the last time they have remolded and have new dining furniture. Brick wall with fireplace behind the entertainment. Nice May not be Carmel but it is a comfortable, good food establishment. If you haven't eaten here give it a try Oh, I ordered a coke with dinner before we left he brought me a coke to go. Now that's waitstaff at its best

Stopped in with a friend because they insisted that I have to have their fried mushrooms! Must I say, they were THE BEST I've ever had!! They were very crunchy with a light batter/breading, yet succulent and juicy on the inside and full of flavor. The in-house made horseradish sauce was fresh and amazing. We requested added accompaniments that come with a loaded baked potato. The serving is good and plenty. The server was lively and very professional and personable too! The atmosphere is comfortable with plenty of tv's with closed captioning. Adequately dimly lit. A total chill vibe! I look forward to my next visit

We chose this restaurant while in town. The menu options looked tasty, and prices were reasonable. We came on a Saturday evening around 7pm and were seated immediately. Our food arrived quickly after ordering. Our server was attentive, and our orders were accurate. Two of us ordered steaks, and they were cooked perfect medium. The dessert menu looked great, but we were full. Would definitely recommend!

Great spot for some upscale food for a reasonable price. My husband and I stopped in as we had heard food was good here. I had the salad, salmon and French fries, all of which was amazing. The salad was ice cold and fresh and salmon was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My husband loved his filet and it was cooked perfectly. We had a bottle of wine too, which on Wednesday was half off. All of this food for only $60 before tip. We were also able to enjoy the live music during our meal. Staff was fast and friendly and gave good recommendations on the menu. Depending on what you prefer for ambience, this may not be your cup of tea. But if you're looking for a great meal, laid back atmosphere and smaller prices than the usual Broad ripple restaurant, this is your place.

Th staff is great at friendliness and greeting you upon arrival. This was my second time and both have been large group events. The service is okay. The first time was better then this one. The food quality is okay for the price. Thursday nights that had live music, which was a plus and nice distraction from the long wait for drinks and food orders. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon $28 and it includes 2 sides. I ordered the broccoli and side salad. The filet did not have much flavor. I tried my friends ribeye and that tasted a little better. When you order cocktails, I.e. old fashion they over ice them and that waters them down. Try one big ice cube, please.

I was in the area for a Yelp event so I like to explore other places. I have this restaurant saved in Yelp. I would have never spotted it from the street. I have passed this shopping complex many times. There are three sections. TVs playing sports, etc. A fireplace. A bar. To order takeout, I had to go to the bar. An unmasked, extroverted woman gave me unsolicited review on the food; she could have kept her words to herself. I went in to order their daily lunch special of a $13 Cajun New York strip steak with two sides. I ordered tator tots and French onion soup. I pondered cutting my steak before leaving to make sure it was well done; however, I had other stops to make on my way home. I regret I did not check and had them cook to order. When I got home, I tried the toaster oven then had to get out my George Foreman grill. I read mixed reviews about this restaurant. For a steakhouse, it was nothing special but seems like a lot of elderly fans.

Wow what an awesome spot. Should of checked this place out sooner. The food is amazing and at such reasonable prices. I got the 8oz filet ($26 comes with 2 sides) cooked medium that I would put against other $50-$60 filets around Indy. It was cooked perfectly with a good crust. The mashed potatoes missed on flavor but I wasn't there for mashed potatoes. Definitely will be back. Service was great and wine bottles are half off on Wednesdays. Ambiance is nice and not that it was an issue for us (we are old souls) but it was an older crowd there.

An old style steak house that is craving some updates and renovations. I ended up here with my husband on an early night out to dinner just because he has driven past and figured it was worth a try. We were seated quickly. The interior looks straight out of a 1990s restaurant with green leather booths and worn out carpet. It didn't help that the average age in the restaurant was senior citizen age. I'm not complaining about that though - I assume it's for the extremely reasonable pricing on the menu. But updates needed on the ambiance for sure. We ordered a stack of onion rings which came on a tall cone and were perfectly crispy. Will definitely recommend those! I was feeling the hooiser spirit and ordered the tenderloin sandwich. Per usual it came twice as big as the bun and I took half home. Breaded and cooked well. Fries were crisp. My husband had a steak and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked to order and the mashed potatoes looked like they were under a heat lamp for a while. For the pricing at this place, not a bad experience.

The lobster roll was soggy and honestly? Too much. I prefer a classic lobster roll - warm, lobster, bread that still has a little crunch to it (just the tiniest bit), butter - but not too much. This was soggy and the celery situation took away from the essence of a lobster roll for me. I've never liked the lobster salad rolls, and I did make sure there would be no mayo - but I think this was a bit much. Too much butter. Too many toppings. The flavor wasn't amazing. My dad really liked the perch. So much that he didn't let me try it. Lol but it looked good! The fried okra was solid. Kinda hard to mess that up, so no complaints there. Same thing with the fish tacos as the lobster roll. They're very busy. I like tasting my food - not piling the toppings on so things get lost. So, I scraped pretty much everything off. The fish was good! I got my mom the fried oysters. No complaints. Her meal came with two sides, so I got greens and Mac and cheese. I didnt try the Mac, but they said the greens were top tier. They had a nice flavor, but they're spicy - so avoid them if you can't deal with a lot of spice - probably red pepper. They threw in a crab cake for free and I thought that was really sweet of them. I didn't like the way it looked on the inside, so I only nibbled at it. Definitely not what this Maryland girl is used to... the winner is still Commisson Row on crab cakes in Indy so far. Anyway! Cute little tucked away spot, small parking lot, but spacious inside. Quite a few tables and chairs and fresh seafood in the cases. I'd go again and try some different things based on other reviews.

The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.

It has a little kick to it, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind--but I think the flavor is worth it. I especially loved the lobster, sausage, black mussels, and frog legs. Everything was flavorful, and the seafood was delicious. There are some good deals on the menu if you're looking to keep the cost down. However, if you're dining with your partner and both of you order lobster or other premium seafood, plan on spending around $100 or more. For me, it's worth it for a nice seafood dinner. The main floor dining like a lunch vibe, but it turned out to be a cozy choice. For appetizers, we started with the cornbread after our focaccia was unfortunately not the best. Seemed to be over-proofed. The cornbread was absolutely phenomenal and a must-have! A special shoutout to our waitress, Arya, who noticed our disappointment with the focaccia and generously brought us the cornbread on the house. That kind of service is truly memorable! I also had the beets and peaches salad, which was refreshing but a tad overdressed. Still, I couldn't resist finishing the entire dish. For my main course, I ordered the lasagna, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overloaded with cheese and instead complemented by mushrooms and pesto, and surprisingly light on the stomach. My husband chose the filet and rated it an 8/10, saying he thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so full by the end that we skipped dessert. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal. The only downside was the atmosphere; coming from Chicago, we expected a more bustling vibe on a Thursday night. It seems Indianapolis is a bit quieter during the week. Overall, we had a delightful dining experience, and hats off to Arya for her exceptional service!
