Our Bartender Patrick was great and all drinks and food came out really fast. I had the chowder to start and I thought it was great but I'm from the south so I know how New Englanders have your opinions about chowder. The Reuben Eggrolls were amazing and mine were huge. I had them as my dinner with house chips and only finished half. But I saved the other half for later. read more

Murphy's Providence - Chicken and Gravy - Irish Pub Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I've been meaning to write this review for quite some time but I really need to shout the praises of bartender Hunter! I was in town for almost a week for a conference and I spent a portion of just about every single night at Murphy's. There were times when they seemed to have a very large amount of people working and others where it was only Hunter until backup was called in and he handled it like a pro. Some nights we had small groups of conference attendees and others we took up the majority of the bar area, almost all with separate tabs and complexity of drink orders. The tots here were delicious but were unfortunately the only food I tried so I can't speak to the entire menu but if you're looking for a solid place to get just about any type of drink for fair pricing, I recommend this location. read more

I got food poisoning multiple times last few times I went here. when I called to tell them about it they literarily told me to get lost.

Great Bar food, hamburger is the way to go! Our waitress was sweet and funny. The Bar has great taps and lots of wood decor and trimmings. Typically bar decor. Medium lighting read more

Stopped in here to burn time during the day yesterday. Had some cider and nibbled on some bangers. Nice atmosphere. Didn't eat much but what I had was tasty. If in downtown providence it's worth a stop. read more

What an amazing experience I had over the weekend at this Irish pub. I was looking for something lively but not too fancy and it was the perfect mix. The Ruben egg rolls are so delicious but the star of my night was the service I received from Hunter. Thanks for all the food suggestions and the suggestions on where else to check out while I'm visiting! If you find yourself in downtown Providence Murphys is a must visit. read more

Wanted to grab a quick bite before catching my bus and stopped by to grab a drink quick bite. Was greeted very kindly and able to seat myself. Explained to the server I was looking for a good quick bite and wanted to cash out soon. It was no problem. Food was serve right away and onto my bus stop I went. They have a big menu snd the server mentioned they are known for there Reuben's. I'm personally not a fan and went with a turkey club. Which now gets me talking about their portions. Love Murphy's!! The owner is so friendly and welcoming she makes me want to keep coming. Feels like a real Irish pub with good vibes, people, and food. Drinks are gr es t and food is even better! I love the impossible Shepards pie , you'd never know it was vegetarian. Reason why I gave 4 stars is every now and then when the owner and her son aren't there the service and quality aren't as good. For the most part it's consistent and fabulous read more

I love this bar! It is your typical bar and bar food type of place. Whenever I have gone it is relatively busy, not so busy that you cannot grab a seat but it is good company. The food is good, typical bar food! Whenever I don't know where I'm going to go I always end up here. The vibe is always good and people are laughing and having fun. Drinks are solid. I always get a gin and tonic and they aren't shy with the gin. Also, I normally get top shelf and I can confirm they do not replace their top shelf with cheaper liquors like other bars! read more

Came in on Sunday and was able to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was excellent. Good selection of beers on draft. They have a soup and 1/2 sandwich combo with good selections. The Clam chowder was very good. The cheeseburger had 2 patties, cooked medium just as I ordered. Flavor was very good. The steak fries almost stole the show. They were awesome. $37 for 2 beers, and a quality lunch in Providence. Can't beat that read more

Still the best sandwiches and picked anywhere. I always grab one when in PVD. You won't be disappointed.

My friend and I were in Providence for the night and wandered into this great little pub. The Guinness stew was delicious and the Lucy Reuben was amazing. The best part about this place though was our waitress Aubrie. She was so awesome. Felt like we were best friends by the time we left. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Providence . read more

Murphy's Providence - Having fun with Aubrie, our waitress - Irish Pub Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

We stopped here for lunch after it was recommended by local hotel staff. It was fairly busy but we were seated right away. However, the food took a very long time to reach our table. The kind waitress brought us some tasty house pickles to enjoy while we waited. Honestly, the food for all four of us was just so-so.. My cold caprese wrap was nothing special- seemed thrown together and olive oil was leaking out each time I took a bite. It would have been better if it had less oil (better drained mozzarella balls) and was heated so that the cheese was a bit melted. The Caesar salad was also not very tasty - just ok. My husband and I went back in the evening because we heard it was fun there at night. We sat at the bar to watch games and the whole place was hopping with business! My husband had wings and really enjoyed them. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. We would go again the next time we are in Providence for an evening outing. read more

We stayed at the Residence Inn and Murphy's Providence was suggested to us by the hotel staff. This quaint Irish pub is conveniently located right around the corner from the hotel so we walked. Murphy's has a decent beer list and our food (the Steak and Cheese sandwich with side salad, and the Murphy's Rueben with kettle chips) were really tasty. My wife was able to order the 1/2 sandwich and soup (clam chowder) from the lunch menu but for dinner, which she appreciated. Murphy's serves cucumbers in brine when you sit down, which is a refreshing starter. Patrick served us and was quite friendly and accommodating. He surprised us with some extra cucumbers to take back to the hotel, which was a very nice gesture. We suggest you stop in for a beer and a bite! It's been around since 1929 so you can't go wrong! read more

Love this place! The ambiance resembles so many of the pubs I have been to during trips to Ireland. Very casual and extremely friendly. There is barely room to move around but that is the pub atmosphere. You should be able to talk with those family and friends around you. Nice selection of beers on draft and in bottles. We had the Reuben sandwich which had both corned beef and pastrami. It was delicious and a full meal. The corned beef is not deli meat but chunks of that stringy corned beef we love at home. Nicely grilled bread. I was happy to be able to choose a salad instead of fries and it was just right. Definitely will be back. And now I want the t shirt ! read more

Normally you don't discover delicious food at a pub, however, I was pleasantly surprised by Murphy's in Providence. I never order reuben sandwiches, in fact, I'm not sure if I even had a reuben before. I ordered the "Luna" sandwich with a side of potato salad. The Luna had house corned beef, pastrami, coleslaw, swiss cheese, and American cheese with a side of Russian dressing. My mind has now been changed forever when it comes to reubens, although I think I would only want it from Murphy's. During my visit I also ordered a cup of chowder and Chicken Francaise wings. Everything was tasty and the service makes you feel right at home. I saw many items on the menu that I would also order, so I would definitely visit again. read more

My husband and I decided to try this place because people and reviews raved about the rueben. My husband is a fan so we wanted to try their rueben. My husband said the Reuben was 'fine.' Not spectacular but fine. We did although have the poutine fries and they were fabulous! Unfortunately, I ordered a Ceaser salad and was very disappointed. They served me a bow of shredded lettuce. I expected nice chunks of romaine- not shredded lettuce. Small amount of dressing and croutons. I did not eat more than 2 bites and pushed it aside. I wish I had been happier trying a new place but it is what it is. I am not saying don't go, I'm sure other items are good. The waitress was very nice, the service was spot on and I liked the decor. read more

Stayed here on a Tuesday night on a business trip. Nice place to relax (and for us, to stay out of the downpour) and down some drinks. Serving decent food late night is a big plus. Wasn't too crowded being a Tuesday night after a holiday; had a few locals, a bunch of twentysomethings, hottie Asian chick to my right, and some other folks who clearly looked like business travelers (a bunch of hotels close by). Unusually clean bathrooms. read more

Murphy's is a Irish bar/pub in downtown Providence. I really enjoy it. There are lots of television sets and decent music playing along with videos. The perfect place to go before a Friars basketball game. The food is simple but good and they have a wide variety on the menu. Service is great even for it being so busy. There's TVs and a good vibe all the time. The manager is a bit spicy watch out she's always coming through. read more

Great food. Rude bartenders. I was trying to tell the bartender that I was told they had the best turkey sandwich in the city and the bartender just rolled his eyes and walked away. He came back after serving two other customers and asked me to continue. If you go there order your food to go and don't bother with the rude staff. Ruined my whole experience because the turkey sandwich was really good. I tipped but the guy was still a major ahole. read more

Stopped in here late night for a drink or two on a Friday. . . place was full, not packed, but every seat was taken. Bartender was attentive, got shots and beers very quickly. Had to squeeze into a small bar stool area near the windows to be out of the way of the foot traffic near the bar. Great for a quick stop in unless you happen to find a seat at one of the several tables. Didn't have any food, though the combination of deli and bar is an interesting one. Downside: 1 bathroom for guys, 1 bathroom for girls. No extra stalls, just the one toilet for each. Sucks when you have to pee really bad and you have to wait forever and a day for people to do their business. Some pictures of the regulars on special celebratory nights at the bar for your amusement while waiting in this small hallway. Better off packing it up and making your way to the next bar. . . with more bathrooms. read more

We had heard of the great food and vibes from this place and so we enthusiastically went to have a good dinner. However, we were seriously disappointed. Yes, this place looks like most anyone can have a good time and enjoy some great beverages, but the food is dull and boring. We started with French Onion Soup and NE Clam Chowder. The French Onion Soup should really be renamed French Bread Soup as the bread was the biggest item below the cheese with a couple of paltry onions. We both tried the acclaimed Shepard's Pie and although it was very nicely presented, it was tasteless and you could tell that the gravy used was just instant gravy where they "added water and stirred" it to give it effect. We hoped for a decent dessert, but that too, was all fluff and no substance as it was mainly whipped cream and very little of anything else on the bottom as the main ingredients were on the bottom for effect. Overall, we were very frustrated with the meal. read more
