This place is cool. The bartender (Irish person) is very friendly and nice. Drinks are not very expensive. The place is very centric and easy to locate. Did not try the food this time, but next time I go, I will and I will give my experience. read more

Three of us visited this past weekend. The services was excellent... the waitress and her bus girl were like a hurricane. The food was great and the portions were huge. We'll definitely revisit! And the homemade pickles were amazing... read more

Excellent staff, were great about getting a party of 12 in together. Food is excellent the Shepard's pie is my favorite, great drink selection as well as beers. The staff is great even when it's backed to the prime. read more

I've been coming to Murphy's for over 8 years and I don't know why I haven't wrote a review yet but I love this place. I like to think of myself as a regular at Murphy's. Now let me tell you why Murphy's is my favorite pub in town; the casual atmosphere always makes me feel at home. I can always count on meeting locals and tourists alike. I will say I become obsessed with a specific dish and eat it repeatedly until my waitress suggests I try something new. Currently I'm obsessed with the Irish Nachos and I took it up a notch and substituted sweet potato fries instead of regular potatoes. My first love will always be the Thai Chili Wings. If you're ever in town do your palate and your pocket a favor and stop by Murphy's. read more

This is a family owned and run spot with great food and great drinks very friendly staff and just great place to hang or for a first date and make it your spot Won't be disappointed read more

Really nice place for a pub, nice food nice drinks and very pleasant waitresses! I would very much like to go back next time I am in downtown Providence near URI in Providence! read more

Since the remodel this place takes to long. Hour wait to sit then forty-five minutes to get you food.

Love it. Super cool environment. Nice food and great cocktails. Excellent bar service. And close to everything else(:

Food is great, but the wait to get your food is excruciatingly slow. I am not sure how we could have caught this popular downtown Providence lunch spot off guard. We arrive 10 minutes before noon on a Friday and seem to have caught the restaurant off guard. It took close to 60 minutes to get our sandwiches. I guess they didn't expect a lunch rush on a Friday. This isn't the first time that the speed of service has left me wondering what in the hell was going on in the kitchen, but it is likely the last time it will, your on the list! read more

Had a few drinks with my classmates and some apps! Irish nachos were awesome and the mac and cheese was great! Susie helped us wind down after our first full week of grad classes! You really get the feel of classic Irish pub, warm and inviting. Ask for Susie, you'll get a grand Irish welcoming! read more

Good place went before pbruins game place was busy but got a table quick, good food only thing was they were low on wine my friend wanted but waitress was great and suggested a mix drink pumpkin beer was good too read more

I have been meaning to do a review for a while. We grabbed some drinks and apps during a cheer competition a few months ago. We sat at the bar. I'm embarrassed I can't remember their names, but one bartender was a pistol with an Irish brogue that you read about - he was fantastic. We also had a female bartender (shorter, blonde hair - Suzie, maybe?) Regardless, they truly made our night. They were incredibly fun and welcoming. We enjoyed their company as much as we enjoyed each other's. In fact, we went back to the competition for awards, then decided to head back to Murphy's after the competition was over. All because of them. Thanks again for the great service and great time!! read more

What an amazing experience!! It is the Cheers of Providence. The servers, the bartenders, the customers all make you feel like you're at home. Food is delicious but the staff really makes it special. Make sure you ask for Melissa, I've never had a better bartender in my life. Customer service at its finest. You're a fool if you're in Providence and don't make Murphy`s a must stop! read more

Fantastic place to get food and enjoy a night with your family or friends! Plenty of TV's for various sporting events. Great food, wonderful service. Ask for Suzie Q. Sweetest woman ever. read more

We went into Murphy's often before they moved to their new location. We liked the ambiance of the old location better but the new one does have much more space. In my first visit to the "new" Murphy's I was very disappointed with the service. I went back six months later (March 12th after a play at Trinity Rep) and had a flashback to the service I had received half a year previous. The place was much less than half full. We had the feeling that we were being ignored by the wait staff. Menu's were dropped off very soon after arriving and we were told that a waitress would be over soon to take our order. We waited about 10 minutes before the bartender finally came over and took our drink order after the designated waitress walked past our table a half dozen times. We waited even longer for said waitress to take our food order. The bartender returned again to take our food order whereupon we thanked him and asked for the check. One of the reasons we chose to go to Murphy's that night was to scout it out as a possible destination for St. Patrick's Day. We will be going to McFadden's instead. read more

My husband and I went here for lunch last week. He ordered a pastrami sandwich, which the waitress dropped on my lap and my arm. I had short sleeves on so it burned like hell, plus expensive gray business pants that were stained. There were pastrami bits all over my food I ordered because of the spill. I didn't want to cause a scene and I felt bad for the waitress so I kept my cool, although I was extremely pissed off. I had a meeting to go to in an hour and had to attend with ruined pants. The waitress said to get them dry cleaned and send them the bill... I would have been OK, but then they brought the bill over and were still charging me for my meal and my husbands pastrami plus the 2 cans of soda we ordered. I figured they should have comped something because of the inconvenience they were causing me with my wrecked pants and my burnt arm. I asked for the manager and now regret that choice. She came out and actually BLAMED my husband for ordering a greasy sandwich when I had a meeting. She also said something along the lines of "why are you upset about a little bit of pastrami falling on your lap?". It was the ENTIRE sandwich!!! She kept talking and talking and hardly let me say a word. She went on and on about how her husband once ruined a $400 shirt of hers with a sloppy joe and how she has her doctorate degree and some dissertation she wrote. It made me very uncomfortable. I asked if she could take something off the bill since our lunch was ruined and she just ripped the bill up in front of my face. I ended up going and buying pants that only cost maybe a 1/3 of what I paid for the ruined ones. I only did this because I needed something fast so that I could attend my meeting and brought over the receipt the next day. Of course I got an attitude when I dropped it off. The person who took care of it actually had the audacity to tell me I shouldn't have gotten new pants, I should have had mine dry cleaned. If you saw this stain you would know there was no way in hell it was coming out. It literally covered both thighs. I will never ever go back there again. read more

When my boyfriend and I went on our first date, I wanted to keep it casual. Just an inexpensive, no-pressure kind of place where I wouldn't feel like I owed him something after he picked up the tab (oh, c'mon boys... we know what you're secretly hoping for when you take us to some fancy schmancy place for a first date!). We were meeting in person for the first time, and just wanted somewhere to go for drinks and a simple meal where we could talk get to know each other... nothing too "date-like." Fortunately, he chose Murphy's as our meeting place. There was no wait on a Friday night, we were able to get some good food and drinks at a reasonable price, and it was the perfect laid back atmosphere to just hang out and talk. I always joke that the reason he didn't get a kiss after the first date was because he took me to a deli, but in reality it was just the kind of place I wanted for meeting each other the first time. No frills... just good food, good beer, good prices, and a laid back atmosphere. I'm an easy gal to please! We've been back a couple of times since and we still enjoy it! read more

Good food, good drinks, good tvs. Honestly - it got docked a star because the last time I went I had a broken leg. Now we're sitting at the high bar stool tables and my crutches are very apparently leaning against the table. The waitress had been serving us for while so I cannot fathom that she couldn't have seen them over a 2 hour time period. However, at one point she literally knocked so hard into my chair that it started to push me over and because (remember that broken leg) I couldn't put my foot down for support my friend had to grab onto the chair to stop it, and me, from going down. The waitress simply walked away without a word and even the people she was serving behind us who saw the whole thing was shocked at what had happened. I'll go back, but I'll make sure to sit in one of the booths along the wall to ensure that I don't get knocked into even though my leg has since healed. read more

I come here every time I'm in Providence. Great atmosphere, good beer selection, and gigantic portions of food! I will be eating my macaroni and cheese with bacon leftovers all day tomorrow. Thanks Susie! read more

This is an awesome Irish pub! The Guinness is extra cold and perfectly poured. The brunch is fantastic - one of the best Egg Benny I have ever had. The waitresses we have had have all been extremely friendly and efficient. Super place! read more

Murphy's used to be our favorite dive(ish) bar downtown. The owner is great, and does a lot with the community. Unfortunately with the renovations came much higher prices and the removal of some of our favorite things that made Murphy's, Murphy's. One thing was that they used to make homemade pickled vegetables and give you a bowl for free right when you put your order in. It was things like this that made it feel like a neighborhood bar. The food is still good, but it is lacking some of the charm it once had. read more

We had a burger, a Reuben, a pastrami on rye & the bacon mac n' cheese... all but the mac came with fries. Everything was good, but nothing was great... 3 stars on everything & 2 stars on the fries. read more

We recently held an after-party event at Murphy's for my Son's wedding and it was the perfect meeting spot for wedding guests to continue the party! We planned ahead with Louis, the General Manager, to order late night snacks (calzone's, chicken tenders, etc.) for our guests to enjoy while everyone was on their own for a tab. It worked out great! I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area for a wedding/event weekend. read more

Great spot for a beer and a delicious reuben. I had the corned beef and the pastrami versions, and the pastrami might be too much to handle for one person. There are lots of "fake" Irish bars out there - Murphy's is the real deal. Feels like you're walking into someone's living room, in a good way. read more

Great beer selection and amazing Rubins this place is great. The atmosphere is nice. The food is great

It disappoints me to have to write this; we are a 4-5 times a year customer, yes usually in conjunction with a Dunk event. Tonite, big let down; no pickles!!! NO FREAKIN pickles, always one of the highlights of their fare, no fish(hello it is a Friday during Lent)......wait staff babbled something about some sync skating event at the Dunk and the fishing show in the convention center......hello, not the first time both venues hold events......and I goes back to the former place would handle NCAA hoops events w/o skipping a beat....come on man..... You guys are better than this, no?.....my wife's caprese sandwich was..... Awful..... This visit deserved one star, but hard for me to do that... read more

Always a favorite after the P. Bruins or a show at Trinity. My most recent mission was to get a fix...I wanted a Reuben and every other attempt prior had been futile... they just couldn't touch Mom's. Well Murphy's made me a believer again. Can you say Yum! Both my husband and I practically licked our plates. So if you have an itch this St. Patty's day for a traditional delicious Reuben...look no further Murphy's is the spot. And if it's after the festivities and you need a little hair of the dog... their bloody Mary's will get you ready for round 2...Slainte! read more

First trip to Murphy's today and really enjoyed it. Lots to choose from on the menu...I went with the shepherd's pie which was a huge portion and next time I definitely want to try the pastrami. Not the old Murphy's. Murphy's used to be a standard in Providence. Great deli, and awesome lunches, serving city workers, bankers, construction workers, and lawyers. House made pickles and peppers on the tables, fresh meats, and always fresh breads. A recent visit was really disappointing. Took a while to get our order taken, even thought we arrived at 11:45 AM and the place was quiet. It appeared that some regulars, who strolled in after us were attended to and served ahead of us, but I guess I get that. The food was not the old Murphy's, the corned beef was no tender, and was dry. The rye bread was stale. The buns and the burgers were stale. When the server asked how everything was, we politely said that it was a little disappointing (an understatement) and she just walked away, leaving the bill. I've eaten at Murphy's probably 100 times in the old location behind City Hall, and a few times since it moved. But this is the last time. Too many quality options in Providence now. And no more pickles and peppers on the tables! Sad, a Providence Tradition ends. read more

stopped in here with my boyfriend after a long day of driving. we were both so pleased by the friendliness of the staff and then the food came. oh my god! i got the seafood tacos with cajon grilled shrimp and he got the socal burger. the food was amazing. so happy we found this great spot! read more

Decided to give this place a shot for lunch before an event on a Sunday afternoon. Place was packed. When we finally got a table we put our order in right away, so as to have enough time to eat before the event. It consisted of two sandwiches, a hot dog and mac n cheese. We got our drinks and the complimentary pickles they bring you and that was it. Forty minutes later i went and asked the waitress where our food was and was eventually informed not only had it not been made yet, but there was somehow still two slips ahead. Not sure how that would even be possible, as we watched a table who sat down a while after us receive their food, eat and was now leaving. We ended up leaving to get to the event, hungry. Will not be back. read more

I absolutely love love love this place. The people, the drinks and the reubens. This place can get packed every night of the week and often with employees from other restaurants in town. Its a great time and the bartenders are great. I have been here for lunch, for dinner, take out and don't forget the 25 cent wings during any Sox, Celts, Bruins or Pats game. The reuben here is my favorite. I usually get the PPAC(pastrami) reuben and drench it in russian dressing. It doesn't get better and I usually always have leftovers, these sandwiches are huge. I have become a regular here and wouldn't have it any other way, they even invited me to their Christmas party open bar! read more
