I was on the hunt for glass carafes with lids and found them here! The sales person put several on hold, and told me the store opens at 9:00 am. I thought, wow, they're open early! Imagine my surprise when I showed up at 9:05 am, the mall was literally empty, and the store was closed! I grabbed a coffee and caught up on Yelp for one hour! The carafes were beautiful, but when I arrived home (after storing them carefully in my trunk, in a basket wedged with towels), one of the carafes had a nick on the opening. I was able to return the damaged carafe with minimum hassle, but decided not to keep the other two. They seem to be very fragile. Since the items were pre-wrapped and placed in a bag, I would suggest you check your items before leaving the store (I normally do!) It would be great if they wrapped items with several layers; instead of loosely wrapped once. They have some unique houseware, stationery, and clothing items, but on the pricy side. read more

They always lied to customer! When I asked the staff about one thing, the next time I followed what he/she said and go back, the other staff would say no. And they cannot honour what the other staff told me. It was a few incidents and I'm not going back to Muji again. Poor staff training, poor operation, poor customer service! read more

Open everyday 11am to 6pm (not the same as mall hours) Visited Muji after Stage 2 reopening. I am glad to see they have a staff manage the process to man number of customers in store, hand cleansing station. It really help people feel safe shopping again. They especially allow 30 days exchange / no refund for clothes since we can't try them at store. Muji offers good quality clothes, houseware, accessories with simple style. Love them! read more

This Muji is smartly located across the hall from Uniqlo. While Muji has a lot of housewares and organizational items as well, they do carry clothing! Both brands are Japanese so they have similar styles. We had just made a few purchases at Uniqlo when we wandered across here. The cut and shape of some of the shirts were almost exactly the same but I found the material of the shirts to be noticeably softer at Muji and at a better price point! I also noticed that the country of origin for these shirts was Vietnam so everything was comparable as well. Make sure you drop into Muji if you're debating on stuff from Uniqlo - they might have the same thing a bit cheaper! read more

Was so freaking excited to finally have muji. No more waiting to go to HK for my pens. Aside from stationary though, I find their prices to be absolutely ridiculous.... Minimalistic designs and simple materials costing way more than what they're worth.... I get that it's their pricing bracket and put themselves in that tier which caters to whatever demographic they're targeting.... I just stick to buying pens. Once in a while though, they have a sale or clearance section for seasonal or just plain clearance goods. You can find decent stuff in there. The staff here are really nice and try to be helpful all the time. They keep the store very well stocked and clean too! read more

The staff were super nice and helpful. They could be more clearer on the prices of their products. We were buying their pens and was looking for the replaceable inks. The lady was nice enough to tell us where the inks were but told us that it was unfortunately out of stock. The person cashing us out was nice to say that there could be a more cost effective - there was a sale on $10 pens. He came back to us apologizing that the pens were sold out. We were extremely grateful that he took the time to tell us that and to try and look for the pens on sale. We will definitely go back! read more

I first discovered Muji while in Shanghai in May. The flagship Muji store was next to my hotel. It was deadly. Ever since I found it, I ended up stopping there every day until I headed back home! Muji sells housewares, clothes, shoes, storage options, stationery, food, and more. Everything is simple and minimalistic. I didn't realize that Muji was at Yorkdale, the Atrium on Bay, and Square One until two of my friends told me about it. Yes, I often live under a rock. So what! I was excited to learn that a new Muji store was opening up at Markville. I like when a store that I love is in my backyard. I felt the same way visiting this store as I did in Shanghai. I was mesmerized by the assortment of stationery. I found a silver fountain pen. It did not have a price. I liked how it felt in my hand and how simplistic it was. There were chocolate-filled marshmallows in a huge bag, with each fairly large marshmallow being individually wrapped. They were 50% off. I also got a translucent pen case to store my new fountain pen. Staff were helpful and friendly. My fountain pen didn't have a price, so one person helped scan the pen and let me know how much it was. I paid for my items and the they were placed in Muji's signature brown paper bag. At this location, you can use ink stamps to decorate your bag. I had fun experimenting. I bought corn tea and mints at the Muji in Shanghai. I am thrilled that I can restock here. You can also get tiramisu in a bag. You just add ingredients and you're done. I can't wait to give it a try. (190) read more

I've previously bought some Muji stuff online (at a high price due to poor currency rates) so I was pleased to see that an actual store had opened up in Markville. The store is a bit dark, and very minimalistic, and has a variety of things such as clothes, kitchenware, home organization products, textiles like pillows and duvet covers, laundry organization items, some candy, and office stuff (stationary, pens, desk organizers). My favourite area is the beauty section - they have lots of cute little travel bottles of various sizes so you can fill with your own products. While I like the store, I find a lot of their items expensive for what they are. Also, many of their items have international prices on them and you can see that the Canadian prices are often completely ridiculous. I looked at a wooden wastebasket that was 3£ GBP, 6€ Eur, or... $25 Cad. Also note that the beauty products are a final sale - when asked, the cashier explained that it's for hygienic reasons - I totally understand in the case of say, a nail clipper or eyelash curler, but I was buying a day-of-the-week pill container. It doesn't make sense to me that that would be a final sale. read more

I bought the bean bag chair from here and while it's a comfy product, I wasn't very satisfied with the service. The staff seemed to leave out a lot of important info about the product (such as that the zipper is not a complete zipper - leaving me to think it was a defect of the product, and the instruction diagram showed a complete zipper). For paying $200+ on a product I'd expect them to tell me more than what is written on their brochure... I'm not too happy with MUJI in Canada in general, the prices are marked up like crazy compared to in Asia (yes I know import fees and tax...) but it is really not worth it to buy their stuff here. Very UNPLEASANT shopping experience I never had before. I bought some beddings and confirmed with the cashier before I paid if I could return them under the circumstances they not fit. The answer was YES so I got them. Unfortunately the store told me NO for hygiene issue when I went back for return due to wrong size ten days later, with all the necessary items like the tag, the string ( no package) and receipt. Eventually they refunded me but made me feel like they did me a favor. I filed a complaint online to the head office that I was not happy. The customer relation staff then replied me an email which is totally bullshit like I spoke very little English so there was misunderstanding ( my English is good enough for shopping, not sure how they can tell people's English level from watching videotape so the only explanation is the store lied), I used other store's package in stead of MUJI package ( MUJI bedding has no package at all, I used The Bay bedding bag to keep it unmarked), ignored the fact that they should refund me without hassle - I followed their return policy exactly, no need to mention that I double checked with the cashier when I paid. Anyway, I will not go back to the store any more as I need a hassle free shopping environment. read more

Great place, visited on a Saturday in December. Found out what a full parking lot looks like. But worth the trouble. Lots of great stationery items at great prices. Was helped by a very sweet girl, one of what seemed like dozens. Was driving from Ottawa to Chicago, made an interesting stop. Really found the bad reviews seemed like sour grapes. Would not let them keep you away. Aroma coffee in the same mall had great coffee. read more

Love this Muji store! The store is about the same size as Yorkdale location. Multiple entrances located where Le Chateau used to be. Quite a large area for clothing and not much food selection. I went in looking for the matcha latte and it wasn't available. Otherwise, everything I'm looking for is here! read more

This corporation is terrible. Even though I contacted head office they would still not refund my purchase even though I have a receipt and there is a manufacturers defect. All because it is missing a tag. It is clearly from this store. Poor service, poor quality and the poor service obviously comes from the top as they are more concerned about the $2 it took to manufacture and sell this item in the store than customer service. I would not suggest anyone shop at this store. read more

We bought a pair of slippers that was found to have a manufacturer problem and tried to return them. They were brand new but we removed one tag with the price as they were a gift. All other tags were in tact. The staff was rude, would not take them back and offered no solution despite the clear manufacturer flaw. Do not shop at this place, cheap merchandise, poor customer service and they try to take advantage of consumers withe poor small print policy. Shop at you own risk with this place... I hope they close but not likely and they will continue to prey on consumers... read more

Love the store but they're horrible at giving enough information. I've been trying to find the dimensions and # of pages in a notebook but there is absolutely nothing on the actual notebook (as it should). I can't find a lot of information online either as their notebooks all look the same and I don't know the exact name of my notebook since it doesn't say so on the actual product. Now I'm stuck between guessing dimensions from 4 different notebooks online since they all look the same but have different names and I don't know which one is mine. Very frustrated. read more
