I LOVE OOMOMO! I wish I had one closer by but best believe, whenever I'm in Markham, I always make sure to stop by! They sell similar products that Daiso sells and originally did sell Daiso products until they rebranded. I would say, OOMOMO has better quality products, though noticeably more expensive. They sell a variety of different brands here and have a more vast selection. HUGE STORE; I love buying Japanese makeup and stationary items from here. They've got makeup, skincare, household goods, kitchenware, snacks, & hardware. Highly recommend checking the store out!! read more

I come here mainly for the ceramics and it never disappoints. There's a huge selection that gets new additions quite frequently, many are made in Japan, and pricing is generally far better than what you can find elsewhere. I've seen some of the exact same plates at other stores for maybe 30% higher price Cups and plates are my personal go to, but they have everything from soys sauce dishes to modern coffee mugs to matcha ceremony bowls. Styles are far ranging and include cute and elegant, modern and traditional styles, and they carry lots of different sizes so you are likely to find something to suit your taste. I personally only buy dishwasher safe / microwaveable ceramics (so I actually use them) and a lot of the stock they have fits that criteria. The rest of the store is a whole labyrinth of home goods like beauty, kitchen tools, home organization, snacks, and craft goods. Again some rare finds exist, so it is well worth a look. I personally bought calligraphy stuff that was cheaper and more convenient here than buying it online, and they had related supplies like writing pads, practice paper, etc. The Japanese trinket/souvenir section stands out to me because you can get things that are rare to chance upon elsewhere. The ceramic darumas are well priced, and I've bought other cute traditional figurines there. Overall there's a lot to see in this store, to the point where it feels overwhelming to browse all sections. I keep my visits targeted and short so I don't wear myself out looking at 200 pairs of similar looking chopsticks. Also, sometimes the prices in this store are questionable, but I browse knowing overall it's fair (case in point for weird pricing - tiny plate $2, significantly larger medium size plate for $2.25). First time coming here and they had so many cute stuff! I ended up grabbing a couple of stationary items that I couldn't find elsewhere that I was looking for: such as mini staples for my mini stapler and some 0.9 lead I use (this lead was hard to find and finally found it). They have so much cute stationary to choose from which was amazing. I came on a Thursday around 2:00pm and it wasn't busy at all which was good. I read reviews that the place does get packed and I'm glad it wasn't. They have everything ranging from toys, stationary, hardware, makeup, cooking stuff and more. Finding parking wasn't too hard but I noticed that a lot of individuals parked wrong and take up about 2 parking spaces which was annoying. read more

They have various departments like cosmetics, kitchenware, cleaning, arts & crafts, party & decor, food and snacks etc. Majority of their stuff are made in Japan which is my favorite and depending on what you're shopping for the prices are pretty reasonable. Yesterday was my second time there, so I can confirm that this is a great destination for all that's cute, useful, and clever in design. Much of their merchandise is surprisingly reasonably priced. For me, Oomomo highlights include the vast dishware selection (I never seem to buy any but always admire the diversity of designs), excellent cosmetic selection and prices, and much more. If you are into stationery, then this is the store for you, with its vast selection of unique pens, pencils, papers and office supplies. The checkout line always looks daunting, but it actually moves quickly, and the cashiers are unbelievably friendly. The store is very clean, bright and cheerful. Parking can be a bit of a challenge and may take a moment, but the turnover of parking spots is constant, so spots are constantly available. read more

A great place to find knicknacks, home supplies, kitchenware, Korean skincare/ makeup and so much more. The space of this place is huge and you can find a lot of things here. You can probably spend a lot of time just browsing their aisles as well. It's busy on the weekends so be prepared to be bumping shoulders with some people while you browse the store. I came here to look at some soy sauce plates since their selection of kitchenware is massive and of good quality. Their snack section is also really good with a variety of Japanese snacks that are imported. I was able to also find these strawberry jelly filled chocolates that use to come in a tube while growing up (loved them!) and it was so nostalgic. Everything is final sale so be aware of everything you're purchasing before ringing it at the cashier. I found that their makeup section was really dug through by customers, so it wasn't the cleanest area to look at/ swatch the makeup on your hand. Welcome to the confusing world of inexpensive Japanese home products. For like ever, Daiso was the go-to place for cool Dollar-store type home goods & foods. Then there appeared to be some sort of shake-up and now Oomomo, a much larger store ( think TJMaxx vs. Dollar Tree) has occupied this niche. The Toronto Oomomo was about 3 times the size of most Daisos I've frequented. The quality of the goods was about the same as Daiso. Though with inflation, it seems like the low price on most goods was CDN$2.75 (about US$2). The food section was not as expansive as a Daiso. If wandering through this type of store looking for knickknacks & value-priced household items, plus specific Japanese toys, you could kill a few hours I Oomomo. Great massive 'low dollar' store that offers a multitude of practical products in fun designs. Its organized into main categories, is very well maintained and decently stocked. Also features limited affordable authentic licensed Disney, Sanrio & Star Wars products. This location also allows online ordering and pickup. Chain offers a membership program for special offers. Love Oomomo; I always make a stop by when I'm at First Markham Place. Too bad all their gardening stuff is a bit skimpy this time of the year, maybe because it's the dead of winter. I usually love to come here for their large white nursery pots (10+ inches) that I can use to line my decorative pots. They're only $4 bucks. They don't have any this time. In fact, all the pots are wiped out. However, I did find a sturdy little stool for around $12. A bit more than Canadian Tire, but I find this one to be sturdier and it comes with a handle. Another golden find is surprisingly this random pen eyeliner I picked up for $5 or less. Not expecting much, but the pen lasts longer than my popular Heroine branded eyeliner I got from Japan, and the longevity of wear is about the same. Anyways, I love it here for office supplies too; I got a cute elephant stapler. They have every sort of container here that you can even think of, and I found a perfect sized bottle rack that fits my rectangle Lechuza planter as a nursery pot liner. read more

The better of the two Oomomo stores in Toronto. This location has more skincare, home organizers, and craft supplies if it's what you're after. Note that the J and K skincare here is more expensive (~couple of dollars more here and there) than at other similar stores like C&C or T&T that may have similar products- I would advise to shop around. For example, I bought a cleanser here for $15 and it was $13 elsewhere. But it's definitely a great place to test products. read more

This was described to me as a Japanese dollar store so my immediate thought was that it would be similar to Daiso. There are already quite a few of these Asian home goods stores including One's Better Living and Miniso. First impressions upon walking in...this place is gigantic! They have merch organized by types of goods ranging from kitchen stuffs, gardening, stationery, to an entire section just for organization. The prices aren't quite $1 cheap but they are very good in some departments. I was impressed that they had clear umbrellas here for only $3 a piece! Their skincare, while they carry great Korean brands, are far from that dollar store vibe. A friend that introduced us to this store said that the masks here are the best deal. I saw that you can order online and pick up in store. They have a special section that helps customers with their pick-up orders. In lieu of working extra hours these days, I shortened my workday a couple of Tuesdays ago. I had to pick up some gifts. Afterwards, it dawned on me to visit Oomomo. It was along the way and I haven't been there. There was plenty of parking at around 4 pm. I parked and walked over to the store. I believe that it used to be Golf Town. This store is massive. I felt like I was going through sensory overload. There was so much to absorb. I eventually had to put away my phone, as I was taking way too many photos of cool items. I grabbed a basket and walked around. What's not to love about a $2 Japanese store? If it doesn't have a price sticker on it, it's $2. Otherwise, everything is pretty affordable. I spent a ton of time in the beauty section. I looked at everything from sprucing up my fingernail game, to sponges to apply foundation and more. While I was there, I stumbled upon oil control film. I have been eyeing it for months. Amazon.ca sells it for $28, which is a ripoff. This place had them for $6.50, which is much more affordable and works like a charm on my oil-slicked face. The noodle section is deadly and extensive. I spent quite some time looking at all the different flavours and types, including Hello Kitty-branded noodles. The snacks are incredible! I ended up getting a small canister of seaweed chips. They were small, but delightfully yummy. I also got melon candy that I devoured. So good! This store has housewares, travel accessories, a lot of cute socks and toques, and more. You can even get beverages from a fridge. There was a bit of a wait at the cashout area, but it wasn't bad. I had a nice woman helping me out. I paid using a debit card. I like that she handed my receipt with two hands, which is so Japanese. I always feel like I need to bow or curtsy or something... haha! You can also order online and pick up your order at the store. There's a dedicated lineup for pickup orders. I had a wonderful experience. I don't know why I waited this long to visit the store. Since I like everything cute, this is my go-to for BT21 stuff (Army here!) and Japanese skin care. I also like their stationary as well as some unique household items. I finally got to go to Oomomo! Last time I was in Markham, I saw the sign and was so excited and went over to see that the doors were locked and they hadn't even opened yet, so I was glad they had had their grand opening and had been open for a while when I returned to Markham. Oomomo is very much like Daiso and they in fact sell lots of Daiso branded items. All items with no price tag are $2. Prices range from $2 to about $30. With most items being under $10. They have items actually from Japan and items designed in Japan but made in China (like Miniso). Lots of kawaii stuff. They have everything from kitchenware to stationery to tools to food. They are like a dollar store except with a Japanese aesthetic and items are more than a dollar. The layout is a bit confusing and it's hard to figure out where you've already been and where you have yet to go if you want to browse the entire store. They don't have straight aisles like conventional dollar stores or grocery stores. Displays are kind of staggered. I loved it in there and could easily spend hours there. Oomomo is really no different than Miniso or all the Korean or Chinese-owned so-called sushi restaurants around the country. It is an inauthentic version of a Japanese shop masquerading as the real thing. Is that fake 'Japanese' restaurant downtown called Momofuku still there? They have a Japanese name and sell many Japanese products, but no one at the shop speaks or reads Japanese, the owner is Chinese and half the products are actually Made In China or Singapore, etc. With that said, they do have a large selection of Japanese goods from stationary to food items to cosmetics and some are quite good and actually from Japan. The store is large and busy and quite packed too so likely one would find many things from the genuinely useful to the kitsch. Two (more) things: Firstly, stop having your employees begin every announcement with 'ohayogozaimasu' (Japanese for 'good morning'). It was the afternoon and 'ohayou' is only acceptable until noon. Moreover, the accents were horrible. With all due respect, five minutes on the net should improve the attempt at Japanese twofold. Secondly, the prices are almost a rip off. The same noodle item sitting on the shelf here for $13 is $10 at Heisei. And this chain is ten times larger than Heisei, which is also a single location. Hmmm.. someone is making a good penny with these margins. read more

Whenever I grab lunch in the area, I always stop by this location. Some of their items are unique, and reasonably priced, but not always. I was looking for chopsticks as part of a birthday gift for a fellow foodie, but whoa! A whole aisle of chopsticks! I have to say, it took me a while to select a few! Every size, color, pattern and shape that you can think of! I definitely found what I was looking for, along with some Japanese bowls. After recently visiting the Don Mills location, my sweetie and I decided to venture out to the Markham mega Japanese version of dollarama. Excitement filled the air upon entering an even larger Oomomo for the first time! Before I realized, someone had already grabbed a shopping cart and was well on her way bargain hunting. Anything you can think of as gadget, you're likely to find it here. The Markham store has a greater selection plus even more products than at Don Mills. Many products sourced from Japan or China were in the $2-$3 range which was so disarming as a shopper. Low and behold at checkout time, it wasn't surprising to exceed $50 even though I though we were just browsing. Something tells me that my sweetie just found another Fav store. We even tried a gluten free frozen yogurt plus a gelato which was on BOGO sale. Happy wife, happy life! read more

This rating is for their new rewards program and poor customer service. I was asked to register for their new points card and because of their ridiculous pick up process, I had to go back another day to pick up the card. According to two staffs, it would be a "customized" card. By the time I received the pick up email, I purposely drove all the way there just to find out that the card was 1) not customized and 2) it was just a random card from the stack at the counter. I was asked for an ID but no verification from the cashier nor did she ask me for my email. Unless you plan to spend $50 per mth or you live 5 mins away, it's probably not worth getting it. 10 pts per dollar, 1000 = $1 off and points expire in one year if inactivate. So you need to spend $100 just to get $1 off.... seriously? read more

So happy to have heard that Oomomo opened a location in Markham, as my first visit was to their Midland location, too far away for me. Bring right next to First Markham Place, and other retailers, it's nice as you can hit many places with this one stop. However, this also means there's an abundance of people and along with that, parking may be difficult on some days. When you walk into the store, it's bright and spacious. This "Japanese dollar store" carries a wide range of items, from beauty products to stationery to kitchen ware, and even imported snacks and candies (my favorite section). Do keep in mind though that like most dollar stores, not everything is under a dollar or two, but these are carefully labeled if so. You don't really interact with the staff, except for at the cash register; but they're efficient in what they do and always thank you for making a purchase with them. read more

They have everything and everything cute!!! It's a Japanese style two dollar store (unless otherwise stated) that sells snacks, craft supplies, stationery, make up, skin care, home stuff for kitchen for bathroom for gardening, stuff for your car, etc. They also sell stuff that are branded daiso so I'm not sure they are essentially the same company. I went on grand opening day and it's packed but it's not uncomfortably crowded. The line was relatively fast too. They had a lucky draw every hour. Everything they sell is so cute! And I can tell many are of good quality. Of course not every single items are cheaper than other stores but you definitely have a lot more choices and choices that you seldom see from other stores. I was really looking forward to this store opening and they did not disappoint! I tried 2-3 times to shop at the Don Mills location after they first opened, but there was always a huge line up and i gave up. This store is located at Highway 7 & Woodbine in the plaza that used to be home to Home Outfitters and located in the building that used to be Golf Town. I stopped in 2 days after their official opening day and there was no line up outside, but finding parking was brutal. This store is located in a "plaza" that has dozens of stores, restaurants etc. My hubby waited in the car, so i could pop in and take a quick look. Honestly, i didn't know what to expect, i was just hoping to find some cute items that i wouldn't find in the dollar store brands we have here. I was pleasantly surprised to see better quality items, even if they weren't all priced at a dollar or 2. I quickly browsed through 3/4 of the store because i had limited time before picking up my kids from school. I looked through beauty/cosmetics, skin care, hair accessories, arts/crafts (great scrapbooking items), housewares, snack foods, frames, school/office supplies, planters, dog supplies. I could go on but this will take a while, lol. Everything was $2.00 unless otherwise priced with a sticker showing the amount of the item. You can easily spend an hour or 2 in this store because there is just so much to see! I ended up buying my daughter some really cute hair accessories & hairbands and a little pouch to put everything in. Everything cost under $10 and the quality is better than any dollar store i've shopped at in the GTA. There was a line up to pay, but there were at least 6-8 girls on cash and the line moved very quickly. They were very friendly & helpful to answer any questions i had. I totally dig this place. Japanese products are the best. I am borderline obsessed with Daiso (I made sure to check their stores out both in the US & when I went to Japan). While Daiso hasn't made the trek to the GTA, this shop is the next best thing. It is *huge* for one. You could easily get lost in here. Their items aren't necessarily a buck each but it's not unreasonable. They offer household products, stationary, snacks, the list goes on. During may /spring, they also collaborated with Pablo (Japanese bakery) since they (Pablo) don't have a Markham presence. I hope to check it out soon! read more

Very Disappointing Experience I have just bought three bag clips of the same made and they are made in Japan. It is of such poor quality which is absolutely rubbish as it does not clip on any bags. A complete waste of money!! The store has a no refund and no exchange policy which I find rather unacceptable. I have also noticed other items have gone down in quality. The china tea pots are now made in China instead of in Japan. So it is not Japan Living as the company would like you to believe. Personally I will not shop there again unless I can have an exchange of the items I bought that are unsatisfactory and substandard. read more

I definitely was excited to find out there'd be a japanese style dollar store in the area. They carry some pretty unique, fun items and I really love the dish wares. Great stuff at really low prices. My only big quip with this type of business is the incredible and useless amount of single use plastic and wrapping and packaging they use. It's absolutely destroying the environment and they're bringing it in massive quantities (which means producers will continue to produce more). I really do love the idea of these products and I can certainly understand the appeal of convenience etc. I hope the company will consider the environmental impacts too in the future read more
