This store is huge and has everything you need, from clothes to household items to various selections of stationery. The staffs are nice and helpful. I will be back

This week, photos from my trip to Shanghai five years ago surfaced on my photos app. Time certainly flies! Next to the hotel where I was staying in Shanghai was a Muji store. It was my introduction to all things Muji. I visited this store daily for nearly two weeks, which was wonderful and deadly. In the GTA, I have only visited the Muji store at CF Markville Shopping Centre. I had never visited the flagship store in downtown Toronto at the Atrium on Bay. Recently, I was in the area for dinner and a concert. Between both activities, I squeezed in a visit to this store. Muji is a Japanese company known for minimalistic, practical items that do not have any obnoxious branding on them. You can get everything from pens and pencils, to storage boxes and bath robes. I have noticed that cool items tend to drop at their Asian stores first before meandering over to the North American ones. The Asian stores has more teas and snacks, which I miss. This flagship store is located steps away from Yonge Street. It has two floors with escalators smack in the middle of the store. I was elated walking in. I started with the first floor. I've always loved their shoes and socks. Specifically, their casual sneakers are cool. I have yet to get a pair because I don't really need any. Someday, I'll cave and get a pair. Their socks are cool in that they are knit at ninety-degree angles for a comfortable fit and the heel doesn't move when you walk. You can also find luggage and travel items, along with clothing on the first floor. From packing cubes to dress shirts, it's enjoyable looking at everything. I took the escalator to the second floor. My weakness is the stationery section that's on this floor. I love their pens and pencils. I got a felt-tipped lilac pen. I was going to a concert and could only enter the venue with my purse. This pen fit in my small purse. It writes well. I fell in love with it when I tested it out on a pad of paper in the store. I have always loved school supplies, so looking at minimalistic office supplies, such as frosted tape dispensers and self-inking stamps, makes me happy. The notebooks are great, especially for on-the-go notes. I even have small one that's perfect for a tiny purse. As much as I enjoy having notes on my phone, I still like writing lists and reminders on paper. The second floor has windows that face CF Eaton Centre. If you want to take photos, head over to a window. You'll get a great view of H&M and even the corner of Yonge-Dundas Square. The top floor has a bunch of books that makes browsing and reading cozy. There's also a cafe where you can grab a drink. Next to it is a water refill station. Such a brilliant idea! Grab your water bottle and fill it up here. I went to pay for my pen. The lineup on the second floor was long. One of the staff members said that we could also cash out on the first floor, so I headed down there. Sure enough, there wasn't a lineup. I got a lovely woman who helped me pay for my item. I used my debit card. I tapped and was done. She asked if I needed a bag. Nope, I was good putting my pen in my tiny purse. I thanked her and happily left with my cool pen. I am so happy that I can finally say that I've visited the flagship Toronto store at long last. I look forward to returning when I'm downtown again. Love this location! I miss it's original offerings, however, when they first opened they had a in-store De Mello Coffee cafe and a huge home products section. The shop now is smaller and no longer has the cafe. They do still have some amazing offerings like in-store personalization of items - which is such a great gift idea! MUJI continues to carrying stylish, functional and high quality items. It's the best location in the GTA.

I adore this Muji! Their spirit of innovation is reminiscent of the Japanese culture. There is also a sense of peace and calm when you walk upstairs and sit on one of their comfy bean bag chairs. Staff are polite and helpful. May favourite part about Muji is definitely the quality and durability for their products. There are $2 teas and coffee available throughout the day. You can personalized the products with embroidery or printing. Pants can be tailored for $5. Everything is created in a mindful way.

Muji's cleansing oil is the best!

Location / Environment Muji is conveniently located in Atrium near Dundas station. The current store is a temporary location since the real store is under renovation (also in Atrium). This location is always packed with people, making navigating a bit difficult. Recommendations I always come back to Muji to buy their cleansing oil. It's formulated for sensitive skin and doesn't break me out. Their toners and other skincare products are also very gentle and perform well. Their elastic bands, lens paper, and travel containers are also very high quality and last a long time. Price Some items are more expensive than elsewhere (eg. elastic bands), but the quality is great and last a lot longer than ones from Dollar store. Would I return? Most definitely!

Lots of stuff in MUJI is now on sale. There is also a pop-up museum for MUJI's history. Recently, MUJI has expanded and now it has 2 floors. The 1st/main floor is the same, but the 2nd floor comes with tons of good stuff - kitchenware, more stationery, little coffee corner, home decor and furniture. I bought a cuckoo clock, original $129 and it is now $79. Apparently it is very popular as my favorite color has been sold out:(

I feel in love with MUJI in New York City. Unfortunately, my set doesn't have MUJI. Well that's what I thought. Before arriving in Toronto I was looked to see if there would be a MUJI and yes indeed, tiene MUJI Toronto. My first impression is that the store was very clean, well-organized and the staff was attentive and not hard to find. I found the socks pretty easily but from experience I knew they were chimbo but I was in a bind. I also knew from experience to stay away from the clothes, they look nice but UNIQLO does the minimalism better with their superior quality. I did find this great Chestnut Green Tea which I now swear by. It really made my trip. Other than that, the store is bunch of stuff I either don't need or don't trust the quality.

As a Ryerson student, I stumbled into Muji a couple of years ago in search for a pen to use. Years later, I now swear by Muji stationary and it's the only stationary I will use. Muji's pens glide so effortlessly on paper and they last a very long time. I like the minimalist look of their notebooks and you can even design yours with the stamps provided in-store after you pay for the notebook. Their pencils have never broken on me - I've used the same one for the past couple of years. The store, itself, has been renovated and it is now a lot larger than what it used to be. I've been to other Muji locations in Scarborough and Markham but this location is the biggest and has the most stock available. It's also conveniently located across from the Eaton Centre so it's an easy stop on any shopping adventures. Parking can be a hassle since it's only street parking if you want to be right next to the store. Otherwise, there's always the parking lot at the Eaton Centre which is a short walk away. It's also close to Dundas Station so TTC is a great option to get to the store as well.

    Aromatic candles! Pure bliss
    Faiza K.

Decided to wander in this store yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the lovely aroma of their led aromatic candles. Puts you in that bliss mood! This store looks like a bland version of Ikea - everything is pale colours, meaning beige or white. It's all a sea of calm, it's what I would imagine would be Martha Stewart approved. If you ever decide that you need to buy a toothbrush, towels, bedsheets and a new tshirt but don't want to run all over the place, well just come here for your one stop shopping. The prices are ok but you could get cheaper elsewhere. $3 for a toothbrush that looks like one you could get from the dollar store is a little crazy. I did see a lovely tea kettle for $40 which I almost bought but I already have one so I put it back. I could spend $40 elsewhere. I can't speak to the quality of products but everything had a very streamlined and clean finish which I really like. I probably wouldn't go back specifically for this store but if I was in the area I would definitely do dome window shopping

Ahhhh Muji. There is no where better for getting tons of good quality pens in every colour of the rainbow and at a very cheap price. Located in the Atrium, this Muji is a decent sized place that has a little bit of everything. That being said, a jack of all trades is a master of none. This store did not have a huge selection of anything, especially the clothing section. The clothes were minimal and quite uninspiring, similar to Uniqlo, and with a large price tag that surprised me. They regularly have sales and such but I don't even bother checking because it's not my style. They have a large selection of acrylic storage cases, plastic cases, and basically a lot of storage for various parts of a home. I mostly shop for the pens and stationary items. I find that every time I drop by, this place is sold out of a lot of items at different times, especially the pens section. I give this Muji a 3.5-4/5. It's always very clean, service is welcoming, and I like the product they sell. The DIY Stamp section is also cool. My only criticism is that they are always out of stock of items that I need! Overall, good job.

There are some cool things in this store. We went in because my wife loves Japanese things and culture. I really don't know what to make of this store. It feels like a Gap but with housewares if I was asked to explain it. While I didn't buy anything this visit I could see some stuff I'd get just because. The clothes? I'm not big on buying clothes period so this place doesn't really light any fires for me. The stuff animal pig was cool. That and maybe some good chopsticks would be something I'd get. The layout seems tight but it's neat and the use of space seems pretty efficient. I couldn't help but notice the price tags are all made out for Euro, Canadian dollar and pound sterling prices on pretty much all the clothes already.

Because you need a card carrying case.

My friend and I carried it from this store to my apartment, roughly two blocks away. It was that heavy, but it was a minimalistic, practical item that looked good in a tiny space. Over a decade ago, I used to attend musicals in the entertainment district. I would often visit the Umbra store before a show. I got everything from the Bungee to photo frames. To this day, I travel with a Bungee, which stores various US credit cards and currency. I often swap them out with my Canadian ones when I'm am stateside, and vice-versa when I return home. The bungee part has never weakened after all these years. There isn't any parking by this store. I had parked across the street under Shoppers Drug Mart. I walked over to check this store out. It felt the same, except that the top floor is now a clearance section. I was so happy. I love penguins have been a fan of Umbra's penguin liquid soap pump since its inception in 2008. This clearance section had a modern version of the penguin pump dispenser, including an automatic version. These dispensers were 50% off. I got one of each. The only item that I didn't like was a coiled stool. It was not comfortable sitting on it. It was in the clearance section. Only folks who want to replace the coiled top with a comfortable cushion would be inclined to buy one. This store is kind of like a museum. It was fun seeing when items were first introduce by year and how they have endured. The Bungee and penguin pumps are two such items. It was nice seeing jewellery racks and vessels for plants and more. I tend to get inspired sprucing up my place whenever I see Umbra products. Strumba caught my attention, which is Umbra's version of the kalimba. If I didn't own a kalimba already, I would have bought the Strumba. It's a fun, small instrument to play. He placed my items in a paper bag with handles and came out of his area to hand it to me. It was such a classy move and was a nice touch. I wished him a great evening. He reciprocated. I left happy with my clearance items. I hope to not wait over a decade to return to this store. Of note, my soap dispensers are awesome. (389)
