Mr. Pen has all kinds of great stationery - and much more. Similar to a character store, there are a lot of cute ceramic wares, clothing/accessory items, plushies/toys, and other household items. Unfortunately, the store has been having issues and has a bit of a ... stink. They advised that they'd had the problem looked into over the summer, but hadn't been able to clear the smell. Shame about that. If you're looking for unusual giftware and especially unique greeting cards, this is your place. The range of items is very impressive, including the inks, wrapping papers, bags, pens, erasers, notebooks, and all kinds of other stationery items. Same for stamps, stickers, etc. The great part is that there is very little overlap between the merchandise here and the goods carried at the other shop more or less across the street, so it's always worth your while to hit both. There is a $10 minimum for purchases on plastic (whether debit or credit) but the service is pretty good and I always end up finding something I want and love. This place is a cute little stationery shop that has a lot of Asian stationery items. They have everything from pens and pencils to stuffed animals and tea sets. They also have K-pop and anime merchandise (not too much, but still) and cute little Disney magnets too. I bought some stickers and pens here and was very satisfied with the quality and price of everything. Last weekend I needed a mechanical pencil. I didn't know where to buy one. Department stores are fine, but they're never near by. Had I only known then about Mr. Pen! This place sells Asian style stationary, as well tea sets. Because why not? If you need markers, pencils, pens, whatever, and you need them with a dash of cute, this place is where to go. Mr. Pen is a super cute Asian stationary store! If you love cute things, you should give it a visit. It's filled with planners, to pens, little knick knacks, small selection of washi tapes, stickers and much much more. I ended up buying two small cards just because they were cute..and it was only .99 cents each! There's also wrapping available if you are planning to buy as gifts. I have legit spent about 30mins inside the store just looking around and for the times I have visited them I always come out with a small purchase. It's a little pricey for some of them but then again you have to expect these kinds of things because theres not a lot of them around within the radius. Customer service is okay since there was only one person by the cash, but overall if you like cute notebooks, and pens (btw, don't have high expectations on their pens, some of them dry off quick) etc. then this store is for you. read more

If you're a fan of stationary like I am, you'll love this cute little store tucked away in Toronto's Koreatown. With lots of pens and other knick knacks, this is a delight for any Studio Ghibli lover. The overpriced items are to be expected, as this is a "tourist store." My purchase included a small Totoro plushie, a Spirited Away pencil pouch, and a Totoro pin, with my total being around $18. I don't really mind spending that much, as it's extremely hard to come across this kind of store in America! Even if you don't buy anything, it's still worth it to stop here and take a look around! For the queen st location (since this is the same company but queen st location does not have a page): Blonde girl with gap in her teeth working there was 100000% unprofessional. I only needed 2 things and it was a minimum of $10 debit or credit. I said I only needed the 2 things but would pay a surcharge if that was okay. She said no but I can buy more items. I said I only needed the two, so I was okay on leaving the items behind. She then told me I needed to put the items away myself? How is she getting paid to sit behind the counter eating and on Instagram while being the least useful? I really wouldn't mind helping if I could if it was busy or she genuinely needed help and was a nicer person. The debit/credit, whatever. But the customer service was bad. read more

Okay, so I've popped into this store quite a few times over the past year and really like what they offer, I especially love their pens which are pretty good quality. However, last year I bought a backpack, as did my sister and a lunch bag. My backpack held up great even with my textbooks, but the clasp did break (flip top bag) and the lunch bag is in great condition. But my sister's bag ripped, so if you're going to buy one I suggest you check the quality. As for other products, I bought washi tape and pens and they are oh so cute! If you want to add a dash of cuteness to your school or office supplies, this is the place for you! The prices are great too! The only thing keeping me from giving a 5/5 was the quality of the backpacks. read more

Very cute store! A lot of variety of toys to choose for

I am very disappointed with a product in the store. Today, I bought a set of chopsticks, a spoon and a container. I opened the package when I got home and I found that the chopsticks DO NOT use for picking up food as the regular chopsticks do. The end of the chopsticks has a big gap about 3 to 4 millimeters, so they CANNOT be used to pick up any noodles or pieces of food. About 30 minute later, I came back to the store to return it because the chopsticks DO NOT work. The manager did not give me the refund and she said that it was her store policies. Therefore, she gave me the store credit. I understand the policies but in my case, the chopsticks DO NOT work as they cannot pick up pieces of food. I cannot use the product, so I expect the store to take responsibility by giving the refund, not the store credit. I am hopping that the owner will review the policies and make change to be fair to the customers. read more
