If you want to get a gift for that friend or family member that has an incredible sense of humor then by all means stop by here. This place is filled with things from nice and practical (soaps, lotions, perfumes, jewelry etc) to zany and crazy (poo sprays, crazy tshirts, cards etc). Every corner is packed with some interesting item in here - you can browse to your heart's content! Honestly words can't describe the mush mash of goodness in here so I'll let the pictures do the talking

I usually go to the Outer Layer Location in the Annex.. which carries identical merchandises as this Queen Street West location. I enjoy browsing through the jewelleries, natural body products and a lot of things that are neat but you don't really need... Great store to get some cute little gifts to surprise your friends or your love ones. This location is a lot more spacious. A lot more space for me to browse around even with my yoga mat, I do not bump into shelves, things or other customers. Oh and I did not stalk Karl R or bump into him either!

Cutest little store ever! A great great great gift store if you want to buy something quirky and funny for someone! I think this is going on my fave all time stores in the city. This place is a mess of pretty much anything gifty, from printed t's, journals, cards, calendars, books, baby clothes, soaps etc, Just really creative great gifts. The printed t-shirts are a ball, they are like bumper stickers on a shirt! There are a lot of baby clothes, just really adorable pieces (I kick myself for not finding this store a few months ago when I was scrambling to find good quality baby clothes). Rare gem of a find! I love it!

Didn't deliver on time, took no responsibility, passed it on to Canada Post. Why support small biz if they offer poor service?

On top of that the price point is higher than most places that make custom suits, despite the poor quality. I highly recommend anyone shopping in the downtown area looking for a custom suit to AVOID THIS STORE LIKE THE PLAGUE. The staff are unprofessional, poorly trained and the work product is cheap. I wanted to share my experience to explain why I feel so strongly and to help others avoid this place. In April last year I bought multiple shirts and a suit from this store. The first time I went I bought one shirt and got measured. Within a month the shirt ripped at the elbows and when I went back they said that they would replace it after remeasuring me again. Feeling optimistic I went in a 2nd time to buy another shirt with the new measurements and again within a month it ripped at the elbow, not wanting to bother them for another replacement. I got this stiched at my local dry cleaner and paid for that out of pocket. At this 2nd visit which was 2 months after the first measure they mentioned they forgot to order my replacement shirt. I waited a few months later and went back a 3rd time to get measured for a suit. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks to get the suit and it ended up coming in 9 weeks and no one from the store bothered to mention the delay to me. When it finally came the suit didn't fit properly and it seemed to be intended for someone much larger than me. The staff tried to convince me there was no problem with the suit but I asked them to try and fix the width. A week later I went to get the suit and it was still to large - on top of that 12 weeks later the replacement shirt I first asked for was still not ready. I tried to complain about the long delays, lack of communication and poor quality and the manager John simply said to me "I'm sorry you feel that way". The whole experience has been very frustrating and I hope no one else goes through this.

There were still some fixtures left unsold, mainly mannequins, clothing racks, and some display stands. I was surprised how much inventory The Bay could get rid of. The jewelry section had a lot of people, but even if those cannot be sold on the last day, I'm sure it won't be wasted. Maybe if more sales event were done before getting bankrupted would have saved them. Now that Canadian Tire bought them out, it would be interesting to see what will be done to the store in the future when they choose some to reopen. I bought a dawn feather jacket from the online store around Dec. The shipping was pretty fast, like within 2 days. The quality was good, very light, but still very warm when I went out on the colder days. I got the black colour as it's the only colour left available. $110 for the dawn jacket was a steal. I literally cried when they closed their cafeteria on the 8th floor and having gone there regularly for years, it was sad they replaced it an empty event space. I hated how they replaced their food service with Olivieri & Bonancini and going upscale was their downfall. The Pusateri's in the basement now overpriced and not as good as their original food hall, which catered to everyday people but now it's an overpriced upscale food place. But I love the clothes floors and the other departments. Separated by a mere friendly walkway is the 10-year old "The Souvenir Market" and the St. Lawrence Smoke & Gift Shop (SLS&GS), an establishment that's a little more long-in-the-tooth being around since 1976. I mean, every day, "The Souvenir Market" gets to look over at SLS&GS, emblazoned with an old-timey sign and a newer addition stating they are the "First Gift Store in the Market!" Take THAT across-the-street usurpers! Who wins the war? Well, by number of customers, neither is doing too shabby. For me, and my desire for maximum eclecticism, St. Lawrence wins by a nose. But I love maple-based treats and things with poop emojis on them ... and SLS&GS has both in abundance ... so, if you're more snooty with your gifting needs, "The Souvenir Market" may be more your speed. My one purchase recommend: "Canadian Maple Crap in a Bag" for $5. It's actually some pretty awesome macaroons. It is one of many treats SLS&GS has with that sweet, silky maple syrup flavor. You'll also find all the usual suspects for tourists: T-shirts, mugs, hats, cards, toys, stuffed animals, baby clothes, gloves, socks, clocks, napkins, water bottles, shot glasses, bags, stickers, pencils, sunglasses, snow globes, tea towels, and about a million other things with "Canada" or "Toronto" or "Ontario" on them. There are two particular areas, IMHO, SLS&GS sets themselves apart from their cross-walkway rivals. SLS&GS has a stronger collection of CN Towers, as well as local sports team stuff (Raptors, Blue Jays, and Maple Leafs). And, being a Smoke Shop and all, they do have smokes. And newspapers. And Panama hats. And drinks and snacks. And just about anything else you could imagine. Tourist or local, there's something for everyone at the St. Lawrence Smoke and Gift Shop!
