I was at HomeSense 7575 Weston Road Woodbridge today at 7pm. A dog pooped on the floor by Gallery isle. 3 people almost stepped on it. I advised the cashier there's poop on the floor. 10 minutes passed, it was still on the floor. I advised another staff member who rudely responded to me and said "I know I know, we've already been told" then turned her back to me. I told her I'm trying to be nice and helping them avoid avoid a situation where people would step on it. She responded and was rude about it again. I asked to speak with a manager I was told the manager is on break. I walked away. Another 5 minutes passed same girl and the assistant manager proceeded to clean the poop. As they walked by I said "it's about time somebody attended to it." The assistant manager rudely responded, we didn't know and was very confrontational. I said I reported twice, how do you not know. I asked to speak to a manager above her, I was then told that there is no manager on duty. I left and called the store (905) 850-8131, the assistant manager answered. I asked to speak to a manager, she told me that no manager tonight and for the rest of the weekend. After a few words back and forth she hung up on me, accused me of being rude to her and her staff. I called back again, she was rude and she hung up again. Not very good customer service at all after trying to help them prevent customers from stepping on dog poop. This store is fantastic. Centrally located and full of interesting and ever-changing things. Essentials, foodstuffs, pet items and a whole range of exciting things. Never a dull moment as they say. We are most fortunate to have this store so centrally located, and while it is smaller than the suburban stores - it should be as it caters to the more urban customer. I think the best part is indeed the ever-changing selection. It is not Walmart or Loblaws where you anticipate and expect the same product ranges on the shelves day in and day out. Shopping here is always a surprise and a delight to discover what their global-sourcing buyers have found for us to buy - and always a wonderful prices. So don't compare it to other shops nor other HomeSense stores as they are all unique and there selection stands apart from each other. This location, I think, has the most extensive gourmet and kitchen department of any HomeSense - and I LOVE that. Often, and I do mean often they have products and items that are found in other very expensive stores (read William Sonoma) and even books (read Indigo). Brilliant expensive and exceptionally made copper cookware found here, when they can source it, is easily one third the price the identical item will be at William Sonoma. I have seen it with my own eyes and compared the pricing. The last Margaret Atwood novel I picked up for $9.99 when it was across the street at Indigo for $39.99 - and surprisingly - it had only been on the market for about a month. Meaning it wasn't a remaindered backlist title. So there you have it. My first hand account of his gem of a location. It will have its detractors - totally ignore them and check it out for yourself. Directly across the street from The Eaton Centre this location for a Homesense is not what I'm generally used to. The Homesense I'm used to is a ground floor large big box type store with lots of parking and more open space. It's understandable that this store is tighter and seems more cramped because they have to put so much in what seems to be a smaller foot print. Homesense to me is a like a "Winners/TJ Maxx" type of of store but for housewares of the like. You can get some pretty amazing deals but the merchandise stock is unreliable. What may be in one store may not be in another. There's really no way to tell what this store has at any given time because what is stocked can change so often. That being said it is the type of place where you go there not knowing what is really there and if you happen to come across something you like, you may buy it. Crafty stuff, wares stuff, bedding, wall hangings, lamps, whatever really. Imagine it is a retail type of flea market but nicer... kind of hard to explain. This location is just like the other burb type Homesense stores except this is on Yonge Street. Instead of having multiple check out lines there's one line and a computerized voice to tell you which number register to go next. Very "Walmarty" of them :) read more

Every night, as I drift off to sleep, I like to say a little thank you to Homesense. Well, actually I don't. But I should, considering all my sheets, duvet covers and comforters come from there. Homesense is basically the nice homewares bit of Winners made into a shop and I love it. Sheets here are affordable and if you're lucky you can get great bargains on high thread count stuff. Egyptian cotton-mmmm. The actual stock can be a bit random, but if you potter in every now and again you'll pick up some great stuff. They have pretty much everything for the home-kitchen things, towels, bedding, lamps, some furniture, storage and even random foods and coffees. It's extremely hard to leave the place without buying something-particularly when there is also a cosmetics section. It's not dirt cheap sometimes, but there are definitely bargains to be found. Staff are generally pretty nice and often incredibly nice. Lines can be long-a mixture of limited number of staff on registers and the tendency for people to buy awkwardly sized objects that take a while to scan. I've also failed to find a price/barcode on items on a number of occasions which tends to slow things down too. Minus one star for that. I'm still grateful for Homesense though. I have lights, shampoo and sheets thanks to them. The simple things in life do matter! read more

Big sis (with the mansion) and me with my somewhat smaller (cough) and much more quaint residence are always on the prowl looking for furnishings at Homesense. You just have to go again and again. One day recently, after a matinee performance at the theatre, we dropped by and found exactly what we were looking for. Could it be that larger sized stock doesn't move as quickly in the downtown core? Or were we just sublimely lucky? We were out with our purchases within minutes hauling them to our parking spot at the Eaton Centre. So people looked at us a little funny as we toted our furniture across Yonge street. I'm sure they have a pick-up area for this store, but sometimes big sis and I do things a little differently. It's just more fun that way. read more

Homesense is a great source for home decorating, if you are on the budget. Think of it as a place full of treasure. BUT don't just walk off the store with bags full of treasure without paying, of course. This place is filled with affordable items for your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room. Personally, my favorite area is the bedding section. Nowhere else one can nourish his soul than on a comfy bed, don't you agree? Oh ... one more tip, you know those reusable water bottles? Why pay full price elsewhere, when you can pay for them much less here? They even have SIGG, the popular Swiss made brand. You can save your money and, in the process, save our environment as well. Hell yeah, so much awesome stuff here. Homesense really needed a downtown location. (I'm giving -1 star because it's way too crowded, with narrow aisles. I could hardly manover my cart around the shop without taking out other customers. Sigh. Otherwise, perfect) They have a lot of nice name brand home decor stuff here for CHEAP. I have been in here 3 days in a row, searching high and low for funky stuff for my new condo. I love this Home Sense. Yes, it can be quite messy but look at where its located. It is always busy, but the lines moved pretty fast. I was almost by the door and I was out and done in about 5 minutes of waiting in line. They were even handing out waters to people waiting in line. The shelves can be slim pickings at this time of year, but you will find a lot of neat stuff for less. Like Lauren M. said, its hard to maneuver around with a cart, so either bring a friend to help grab stuff. I would have to say that their bedding section is "expansive" depending on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a bed in a bag, it is, but if you're looking for a duvet cover set, especially in the Queen size - good luck! This is a great place to stop by if you're looking to fill new digs with stuff. The one thing I hate is that they take apart dining sets and sell them individually. read more

I live in Australia and placed an order for a gift card online for my sister's birthday. She lives in canada, hence i chose Homesense. How unfortunate and how unreliable the system is! Last screen said 'thank you for placing order' and provided me with a order number etc. I did not receive an email or any notification about the payment. Thankfully i saved the order details of the last screen when i placed the order, so at least i could inquire about it. Unfortunately she did not receive the gift card on her birthday. So i sent an email. It is very unreliable that i had no way of knowing until i enquired about it. Their response was: "Thank you for your email. Unfortunately your order was not correctly processed by the system. Please attempt a second purchase. You have not been charged for your first attempt." I checked my bank account, the amount has been locked. This usually stays locked for about a week until i get the money back. So if I am to get another gift, it will cost me more and more of my savings. Very very inefficient system by Homesense. read more

Ok I'm really annoyed at them now so took down a star. I gave the cashier my TJX loyalty card and she forgot to add it to the transaction and gave me heat for it. Then she returns everything and rebills me. When I went to return an item, it turns out she gave me the wrong bill. They took a while to locate the bill record in store, and then proceeded to do the retun for the wrong amount, and then took about 20 minutes to correct that. So all in all, one purchase and a small item return later took about 1.5 hours. Worth my time? Absolutely not! Three three stars stay only for the good stuff I sometimes find here. The cashiers desperately need training. read more

I find this location to be a little disappointing. It's always a mess and it's always extremely busy. Even in the middle of January there was a line 8 people deep as I tried to buy my one measly little item. I'm not particularly fond of their merchandising practices. They just seem to cram things on the shelf any which way. This just leads to stuff falling at my feet as I walk past because a customer is trying to pull one thing off the shelf to look and ends up having 3 other things come tumbling down. read more

This store is packed with decorative items, paintings, ornaments, garden decor, area rugs, linen, kitchen ware - you name it! As well, they always have sales for both newer and already reduced items. This makes the shopping experience friendly for anyone's budget, big or small. So if you have an apartment full of cookie cutter furniture or you have a house made up of the most high-end decor, Homesense is able to spruce up the style or add to the trendy furniture mix. read more

Not my favorite Home Sense out there, although it is 2 floors. The main floor is relegated to pets, kitchen, garden, books and knick knacky stuff. The 2nd floor is lighting, furniture (chairs), wall art. Biggest complaint about this location is that it is packed to the rafters with stuff...so much so that maneuvering through the aisles, even when it's not busy, is a major feat. It is a great place to kill some time when you're early for an appointment or waiting for someone. Staff fade into the background and are not the friendliest group on the planet. read more

I was taken here by someone who needed help schlepping home stuff (not easy to transport furniture and housewares downtown). We looked at pillows. There were 3 whole rows of them (seems to be a plus if you're in the market for pillows). But one of those rows was all grey, and another row was all blue (so, actually not so much choice). They had framed pictures of Marilyn Monroe that were in B&W, except her lipstick was in red. Oh my, how artistic. They had those paper mache boxes that look like old suitcases. The ones that have passport stamps on them. They have picture frames (soooo many picture frames) with intentionally chipped and faded paint. They have lots of junk that isn't from France, but says "Paris, ca 1908." Sorry for sounding like a jerk, but this is a store for people without personalities who are hoping they can buy one (or two, if they're on sale). I still give it two stars instead of one, just because there are a lot of chairs so you can sit down and take a break whenever you'd like, which is always nice:) read more

As another reviewer mentioned this place is a definite hit or miss. Tons of cool items and somewhat decent prices. Some stuff look horrendous and I wonder how they ever get rid of it. Some items belong in a dollar store but they charge way more for it. Store is located in a great neighbourhood downtown and across from the Eaton Centre. Can be crowded similar to lots of retail stores downtown. If you have the time then go in for a look and you might just find something up your alley. read more

I don't know if I should tell you that this store is not only packed with well priced and well merchandised items but that it is also not crowded. I am so happy that this is in between my walk from work to home. It is so convenient and so many fabulous deals. If I ever need anything home related, this is the place I will check first. It is abundant and the people are nice and helpful enough that you can find what you need. I am amazed because I think this is sadly overlooked because it is along the yawn of Yonge St. But that's OK, more for me to have and to hold!!! read more

I will confess that I am a bit too much obsessed with this store. I just love love love this store. It has a amazing collection of home decor items like decorative pillows, chic lamps, cool chairs and other accents . A big range of kitchen pots and pans, canisters, dinnerware and ceramics. They also change the collection according to seasons spring, summer, fall and winter. Bedding and bathroom collection is great and can be found in nice and vibrant colors as well as whites & neutrals. Its best feature is that, it is priced very affordably, and sometimes they have very good deals which makes it irresistible. I got a very chic and expensive looking lamp for Just $39 which can cost at least $70 to $80 in expensive shops like those home decor ones on Queens Street West. I also got a big non-stick pan for $25 which I am using regularly for last 6 months and totally dishwasher safe. I just love this store and would shop here regularly. Only complaint I have is you can not browse the items online...Otherwise its an amazing store. read more

I visit this store weekly and I almost always find something that I just HAVE to purchase. They are great about returns if an item is too big/small for my space. I've never had an issue with staff or stock. The customers on the other hand are ruse, obnoxious and have a sense of self entitlement that I don't see elsewhere (I wonder if walking in the door turns me into the same beast?). My biggest complaint/advantage is that they changed some of the departments around so I don't waste time looking at things I would never use (pet stuff,cleaning supplies, etc). I have bought a number of furniture pieces here that I adore. Great place! read more

YES I have been treated better in the dollar store! The female manager 40 ish with brown ponytail was nasty and unprofessional. I frequent the store and am a very good customer and bought a lamp yesterday for 49.00 and today went to get the mate and it had no price tag so the manager asked the check out girl how much did she think it was? The girl said she thought it was 69.00 which I knew was wrong. THe manager was rude ,disrespectful, sarcastic and down right lazy. She said they did not offer the service of looking up the item or calling another store for a price and told me if I wanted to drive home( 1 hour away) she would hold the lamp for 2 hours while I looked for the reciept. I had to pay 20 dollars more for my matching lamp. read more
