Initially went to a different shop (wont post the name but its in town in Wards) to get my car a subtle change in exhaust note and sound. Got it done at a decent price, left that shop and drove it home. It was way louder than we agreed to. He even told me it to wait it out and break it in, couple days back and forth to kapolei and it got even louder and drone was bad. Went to go to see what he put in and it was a brand I've never heard of and it was held with 2 hangers instead of 3 which my factory one had and was the reason why it was vibrating my floor so bad. He claimed it was the exhaust note that was causing the vibration. He basically said that all mufflers are made the same, just branded differently no matter what brand you get. Ive had Borla, Magnaflow, Cherry bombs and Flowmaster before but this was the worse sounding muffler yet. Irritated with this, I asked him if he could swap the 14" muffler he installed that he claimed would make it between 10 and 20% louder but was more like 70% to a bigger body and says its the biggest he has. I decided to buy a big body Magnaflow thru Amazon, muffler comes in and I asked him on a Wednesday morning before 11am to see if he could install and says that his shop is already closing at noon. Awkward to close in the middle of the day, so I ask what about the next day or even Friday, nope he was all booked. Even more irritated I refused to go back there when he asked me to come back following Monday.
Got a hold of Roland that next hour, very skeptic because of the name "Exhaust Systems Hawaii". I dealt with the shop in Kalihi, South King Street and Waipahu before and if its not a bad welding job its the outrageous quote they give. I decided to drive to Kailua, give em a try and see what his quote was since I've never been there before. He basically broke down the exhaust system to brands A to Z. 15 minutes later after giving me a free lesson, we walked back to my car talked a bit more and came down to a price that I was comfortable with after already spending almost $400 at the other shop. Bottom line, Roland is straight up but very caring, no BS type of a person and wont dance around you to get your business. I;d go to Roland from now on and wont think about calling or going to any other exhaust shop again.
P.S
For anyone who had a bad experience with the other locations, Roland will explain to you that he personally is not affiliated with them. Long story short, he's going thru a legal issue with a business partner and has been dealing with it for years. So if your thinking about going to Exhaust Systems, go to Roland! first. read more
