When I got home, I noticed power steering fluid leaking onto my carport and saw the fluid level was at the absolute minimum. I went back to Firestone, and they told me they hadn't actually changed the fluid, but rather replaced a leaky hose. They then claimed the low fluid was due to a bad power steering pump and quoted me an additional $900 to replace it. It just didn't sound right, and I felt they were being dishonest. I took my car to Tenn's for a second opinion and showed them the Firestone invoice. Tenn's quickly found the real issue: two entirely different power steering hoses were leaking. They replaced them, and now my steering is perfect with zero leaks. On top of that, Tenn's inspected my coolant system and found both the radiator and reservoir levels were dangerously low because Firestone failed to properly refill the antifreeze after their flush. Tenn's pressure-tested the system and topped off the fluids for me. Mahalo to Tenn's--they are honest mechanics you can actually trust!

They're usually pretty accommodating, but when I drove in for my a few weeks ago for my online appt, they told me that it would take about 3 hours before they could get to it. Since I couldn't wait that long, I scheduled another appt, for today (20 days later), at 2pm, and they said they could get to it right away and be done in an hour. The actual service here is okay (not great), but they're fairly proficient in expediting the service, once they get to it. One thing that shocked me, was how much the showroom degraded. It used to be a rather clean and convenient place to relax in the past (for a tire service shop). I can't believe they let the floors get this bad. They were covered with dirty scuff marks, and they removed the little coffee table, and the TV wasn't working. Just from a business standpoint, as a customer, when I see how dirty the sales showroom is, it makes me wonder how much care they put into their actual repair service. It leaves a really bad taste in your mouth--it feels like they are only willing to magically find the time to "squeeze you in" if you're spending big money on parts and labor. Loyalty and returning business clearly don't mean much here. It's a shame, because I was ready to make this my go-to shop for both of my vehicles, but they just lost a returning customer over a basic safety check.

I called them up and they were able to take me the same day, got it done in a few hours and were able to use my own provided parts. The shop is extremely clean and the bay looks organized, seems they work on many different makes and models. After picking up my car they didn't install the O2 sensors because I didn't need it. The guy at the front went through what the cause was and gave me some tips on preventing it and they didn't even charge me! Car is running great so far. Great service and they earned a new customer, I will be back to service my other cars here soon, highly recommend this shop.

We have gotten our cars changed here back then and they used to be good. But now they're rude and have no aloha, only looking for profit and overpricing things. I am not sure if they all just had a bad day, but I tried my best to be really understanding at first. Our earlier experiences over the years were good and we decided that we will stick with Kaneohe Auto Care as they seemed like good ohana and we would like to support them. But our recent 2 experiences changed our view of them. Our recent first experience here was good besides overpriced tires, they promised to give us Falken tires but after the tires and repairs have been done, they told us they weren't able to and changed our tires to MIDAX instead, lying that they were a far more superior brand instead while overcharging us on the tires by $200. After a week, the car had problems again and Kaneohe Auto Care failed to identify an oil leak and oil filter problem which we had gotten checked at another place. When I told them the girl in the front said, "Well what do you want us to do about it?" in a rude tone. On our recent second experience to get our car diagnosed they gave us a set price of $1600 for some car repairs. I also noticed when I first came in, when one of the mechanic was on the phone he was pretty rude to the person in the phone. After confirming again, they were very rude on the phone complaining about the repairs on the car, telling us that we're asking for a lot of repairs after we had already discussed what the diagnostics and the repairs of the car would be, giving us a set price of $1600. After a couple of hours, I decided to call them again thinking maybe they just had a bad day which is why they were rude on the phone and in person, not even making eye contact and ignoring questions I asked multiple times. After thinking about trying to understand them, I called them again to confirm the services and the price -- but to my surprise the person I was talking to wasn't the same girl I talked to in the first place -- it was a man with the same voice that was rude earlier to another customer on the phone. Right from the start of the call, I said Aloha, confirming the repairs and costs, but he was rude right off the bat. He increased the price, overpricing it $1000+ higher than even the Honda dealership here in Windward, and it did not even cover all the car's problems. After discussing with ohana and experiencing that, we decided not to go and just decided on the safety check and oil change after KAC switched our price from $1600 (we had discussed all repairs already and which repairs would be done) but then they changed their mind, doubling the price to over $3000 after giving us a set price of $1600 while Honda ngave us a price of $1900. I tried to be very understanding and polite but the man I talked to was very rude as I kept thinking to myself to try and understand he may have had a bad day and that we're all ohana on the island. We decided not to get the car fixed by them. I came in and while talking and they did not even look at me in the eyes while talking and were ignoring my questions, telling me to sign on the paper instead for the oil change and safety check which costed $140 ($70 was labor). We were looking to have a great service, especially after our cars broke down and the hurricanes on the island have led to many problems only to be met with this kind of service. Where is the aloha? Now they're only looking for profit even higher than the honda dealerships which we originally switched from as honda has usually high prices. I always support local businesses here in Hawaii as I grew up here. But after the service here in KAC me and my ohana will sadly never be going here again. They will find different ways to overcharge you in other ways to make a profit and my first experiences from back then may have been good but multiple recent experiences proved they changed.

Either way, with over 200k miles on it, it was going to be (hopefully) less expensive to swap the engine. I called around and Rockys miraculously said they had a used engine that just came in, and they could work on it later in the week. Unfortunately, if turned out that the engine wasn't exactly compatible. To try to make a very long story short, I ended up leaving my truck there for almost 2 months. I had to order am engine from the mainland that took 1 month to arrive. Once it did, they worked on it right away, and it was done within a week. They did have to change out several items from it, for to is age, but I finally got it back, and it's working great. The overall cost was a bit higher than expected, but it is what it is. The only reason for not giving them 5 stars is for to the fact that they didn't realize that they didn't have a compatible engine in the beginning, so I wasted 3 weeks, and spent over $600 in car rental fees, before finding out they didn't have a compatible one, and I needed to order an engine. At least the work is done, my truck is running great, and they were very responsive the entire time. They do great work.

I drive an older solid Toyota and with age, small details come up. As I was parking, my stick shift went completely "buttery loose " and it wasn't taking the command to Park, Reverse, or Drive. I brought my vehicle and the Firestone invoice to TENN'S on Keolu Drive for a second opinion. They correctly diagnosed the issue as two leaking power steering hoses, which they promptly replaced. My steering is now perfectly normal with no leaks. Furthermore, TENN'S inspected my coolant system and realized Firestone had failed to refill the antifreeze after flushing it. TENN'S pressure-tested the system and correctly topped off all fluids. I am sharing my experience in this post to prevent others from being misled into paying for poor or unnecessary services.
