When I got home, I noticed power steering fluid leaking onto my carport and saw the fluid level was at the absolute minimum. I went back to Firestone, and they told me they hadn't actually changed the fluid, but rather replaced a leaky hose. They then claimed the low fluid was due to a bad power steering pump and quoted me an additional $900 to replace it. It just didn't sound right, and I felt they were being dishonest. I took my car to Tenn's for a second opinion and showed them the Firestone invoice. Tenn's quickly found the real issue: two entirely different power steering hoses were leaking. They replaced them, and now my steering is perfect with zero leaks. On top of that, Tenn's inspected my coolant system and found both the radiator and reservoir levels were dangerously low because Firestone failed to properly refill the antifreeze after their flush. Tenn's pressure-tested the system and topped off the fluids for me. Mahalo to Tenn's--they are honest mechanics you can actually trust!

Brought my VW Bus to the island with a Subaru Conversion, car was running great but I was looking…read moreto build a relationship with a local VW expert to help me further restore the bus, so wanted to start with a small job such as repairing the steering column or etc. Brought it to this place from a tip from a restaurant supply store on the other side of the island, but did not check the yelp reviews which I now deeply regret. Learned from a local that this place had quite a history, and rushed to get my bus back, however the damage had already been done. It's unclear if it was from truly poor communication or just poor workmanship, but the radiator protective cover was removed/cut down without my approval, I only asked that a plan be put together for possibly moving the radiator. This left the radiator vulnerable to rocks, at which point it was damaged and caused the engine to overheat, destroying a brand new Subaru engine resulting in thousands of dollars of damage. Dealing with VW Buses is problematic anywhere as they are un-reliable vehicles, and of course a non-standard bus like my own requires extra care in addressing. I would caution anyone looking to repair their VW Bus to heed the warnings here about the quality of the communication and the results of repairs in other reviews. In general I try to interpret even poor interactions as generously as possible, as my need for great local support and contractors is high, so I was extremely disappointed with this interaction. The benefit though is that many locals who have had this shared experience have pointed me to better options.

They're usually pretty accommodating, but when I drove in for my a few weeks ago for my online appt, they told me that it would take about 3 hours before they could get to it. Since I couldn't wait that long, I scheduled another appt, for today (20 days later), at 2pm, and they said they could get to it right away and be done in an hour. The actual service here is okay (not great), but they're fairly proficient in expediting the service, once they get to it. One thing that shocked me, was how much the showroom degraded. It used to be a rather clean and convenient place to relax in the past (for a tire service shop). I can't believe they let the floors get this bad. They were covered with dirty scuff marks, and they removed the little coffee table, and the TV wasn't working. Just from a business standpoint, as a customer, when I see how dirty the sales showroom is, it makes me wonder how much care they put into their actual repair service. I'm glad I'm just here for a safety check.

Six weeks later, the car wouldn't start. AAA towed the car up to Tony's. Tony was there to assure me he would diagnose and fix the problem. Sure enough, a wire had somehow come loose and Tony had the car ready in a few hours. The real test of a business is how it stands behind its work when something goes wrong. Tony didn't hesitate to repair the problem and I am back on the road. There was no hesitation in correcting the problem. I felt rushed when explaining the issue with my car, and the staff didn't seem interested in listening or asking follow-up questions. Communication was unclear, and I had to repeatedly ask for updates on the status of my vehicle. What frustrated me the most was the lack of transparency. The pricing wasn't clearly explained upfront, and I ended up being surprised by that were never properly discussed. It made me feel like I couldn't trust the recommendations being made. On top of that, the overall professionalism just wasn't there. The experience felt disorganized, and I left with more concerns than confidence in the work that was done. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. I would not recommend this location and will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.
