RJ helped me a lot and is very knowledgeable and very friendly. Very reasonable price on buying a brand new built motor from them and having them take out the old broken motor in my van and putting in the newly built motor in my van and get it on the road asap. I already recommended my friends to come to this shop and will bring more of my projects to this shop. Best shop to upgrade any vehicle. read more

Two friends that put their skills together and started their business over 10 years ago! TAmazing customer service! These guys constantly kept me updated on my vehicle, gave me their best recommendations while explaining issues patiently. Definitely recommend! read more

They were super quick, communicative, and did great work on my Focus RS. Very reasonable pricing as well and they even fixed parts that they found needed replacing at no charge! Very down to earth guys, would highly recommend read more

RJ and Eli went above and beyond. They were able to take care of my Jeep Grand Cherokee in a few days. I felt they were trustworthy and kind. They were honest about what needed to be done and what didn't. From our initial conversation I was at ease. They're so friendly and accommodating. I've never seen a shop with all 5 star reviews. They're typically backed up a month out because they do such great work. It was my first experience with them and I trust to work with them moving forward. I have never written an auto review and I own 7 cars. This one is well deserved. read more

I started having a rough idle at a traffic stop one morning, and decided to cancel my pickelball game for that day. I replaced the spark plugs on one bank of my Tacoma V6 since they were due for replacement. When I took it for a mini drive, it actually got worse and drove the truck back home. Called Nate about my truck problems and he eventually came to check it. He hooked up his gizmo and determined one of the cylinders was faulty. After removing the spark plug to inspect, he discovered a leak in the valve cover. Also noted the plug needed replacement. After making some additional test to pinpoint the problem, he determined that the spark plug wire was bad. He proceeded to install the remaining plugs and a new wire set was also installed. Nate is an excellent mechanic and continue to provide excellent service since I have known him. It would have cost me more trying to fix this issue using trial and error and just glad Nate came to the rescue. I highly recommend him as a trusted mechanic. read more

Highly recommend these guys to work on any cars and trucks. It's hard to find a trusted and reliable mechanic who will get the job done and not take advantage of you especially if you are a female. They really care about their customers and They are patient and understanding and very open and honest and fair mechanics Very down to earth and friendly mechanics. They take good care of their customers and never leave them disappointed but satisfied. They even call you to give you updates before doing anything major to your car. They know exactly what is wrong with your car when you explain to them, if not they will make sure to locate the problem and let you know first. They don't try to scam you. They proved to be the best and I have made them my mechanics to work on my personal and business vehicles. I'm glad I found these guys to take care of our cars. Thank you RJ and ELI!!!!!! No words can express the gratitude I have for you guys! You guys are super awesome!!! No doubt read more

Came in to get my engine light Checked. RJ is really nice and honest . Told me to change the gas cap and if the light comes back on then for sure I'll come back. Great service and very quick on the same day. read more

Did a web search for European auto repair. Called and spoke with RJ owner. Very peasant conversation asked if he dealt with after market warranties at his shop. Said that he did so we got to discussing my auto repair needs. And asked if I could tow the car today. He said to me that today would be tough because he has a backlog or cars to complete so suggested Tuesday. Very professional and quite eloquent in speech. So Tuesday I will expedite my 2004 Saab to his shop. Mahalo RJ. read more

Fantastic job. I brought my older Toyota for an adjustment but we found much bigger problems that they solved quickly. This was my first time and I feel like I got lucky picking such a great shop! Thanks again boys! read more

Starter went out on a Saturday and AAA recommended and towed my 2007 Corvette to Lex Brodies in Waipahu but they couldn't guarantee they could work on my car since to them it was too High End so I took it to Performance Auto Repair nearby. They accepted told me they would look at on Monday. They called me Monday morning and replaced the starter that and I pick it up that day. Prices were reasonable too. read more

Do you folks like apples? WELL HOW ABOUT THESE APPLES. Performance auto repair. The owner of this company was being unnecessarily modest when creating the name because it honestly should've been named BEST DANG AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN HAWAII. Not only are they professional and friendly, they are fast, they are affordable, and they're honest about what's actually wrong and won't bs you about paying for things that aren't even broken to begin with. They know the anatomy of a car like Jesus Christ himself descended down from beyond the pearly white gates of heaven himself to grant them the power of infinite car knowledge. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to car parts or how to even describe what I think is wrong with my car. It's like trying to ask Siri what the name of a certain dubstep song is I heard once on the radio by repeatedly making awkward robot noises with my mouth. I just, I just can't do it. So that's why I leave it to the professionals at Performance Auto Repair to perform a triple bypass surgery on my sweet expensive baby. (Again, I don't know much about cars.) thanks again, guys! read more

Long overdue review!! But I went to kia to get all four wheels changed, they told me something was wrong with a strut. They charged me a amount I couldn't afford, and every single time. I called this shop, and gave me a good estimate, and said usually your suppose to change two struts but they already realigned my tires except the one with the strut leaking. So I parked my car there and the customer service was really good! He even asked the owner next door if I can stay in their lounge room since I had no car to take me home. I definitely stayed out from 9am-almost 5:30. Then my lug nut key was missing.. called kia and by mistake the mechanic had it in his tool box. Thankfully I was gonna walk on over but the owner insisted he'll grab it, I was so thankful. He finished the job. read more

Performance Auto is a Great place for all vehicle needs. RJ helped me out a lot and fixed both my cars BMW and Toyota Prius! I've been to other repair shops and the problem would just break again. Yes, another 5 star review for Performance Auto Repair. Apparently my wife's low mile Lexus GS430 has had a charging system issue for some time that has gone undetected with the exception of the stereo display flickering and the amp cutting in and out o occasion. The Rail Traffic however had finally caused the condition to rear its ugly head and make the charging system indicator light come one after one too many extended two-hour days in traffic. I called Eli near closing and told him of the problem and said I'd do some preliminary checks but forgot to call him back and confirm the issue. The next day my wife drive the car there and they looked at her a little funny... As I failed to call back. They were able to accommodate her anyway despite having three other jobs for the day, and were able to service the car while it was there! (It was a little short of interval but overdue on time) I'm grateful they could take the car on short notice and get the car done as I am working long hours. Thanks again! read more

RJ and his staff are really professional. Took my truck on very short notice and completely fixed it regardless of his work load. 100% legit and the best mechanic we have dealt with in Hawaii. Would recommend to anyone! read more

Great to do business with. As a shop manager of my own, knowing other great shops to work with is essential to customer service and support. Knowing RJ for many years, sending him customer referrals seemed too easy. So far every customer that has made their way from my shop to P.A.R has had nothing but positive feedback. Some jobs my shop is not equipped to do either by lack of tools or space these guys have accommodated our guests without hesitation. Look forward to doing business with you guys for a long time. read more

Honest and reliable. Our go to mechanic. Competitive pricing and doesn't try to pull one over on you.

Brought in my 2004 Land Rover Discovery II with oil leaking leaking from front crank case. They received a faulty part and gave me a loaner for a day while a new part was shipped in. They did an amazing job and they are very friendly. I would highly recommend them. read more

Went in for a coolant leak that emptied out my reservoir and had my car sitting in a pool of coolant within 10 minutes. I try to do repairs on my own to save money but I just couldn't figure this one out. Eli took me in the morning after and had it all fixed same day and even changed my oil for me as well (my oil maintenance light was on too lol)! Not only did they replace the faulty part, they took preventative measures by pressure checking and burping my radiator as well, ensuring the safety and functionality of the system. Most auto repair chains will just repair/replace the part and that's it, potentially costing you more when something else breaks down from not taking preventative measures. These guys are honest and have a heart of serving others. They went above and beyond my expectations! Mahalo Eli! read more

PAR did a swap out kit for my 2016 Escalade suspension from a magnetic/ air suspension to a passive suspension kit for all 4 wheels. Great communication and customer service. They also went above and beyond to make sure the components used in the installation was built to last in the conditions here on the island. It's been about a month since they installed it, and everything is cherry! Couldn't ask for anything more. Thanks again guys! read more

My brother broke his 2016 Subaru WRX, since he modified it, the warranty was void and the SERVCO Subaru dealership didn't want to help him. He took it to the shop that helped him modify it and they couldn't even get it started. So, I called a good friend of mine who recommended RJ's shop! What a blessing, he was able to get my brothers car working again! He knows his stuff! Highly recommend! Mahalo nui loa! read more

Really outstanding service! This shop met my every need to get my engine rebuilt on my 2014 STI. I was in a rush because a major engine failure happened at the worst time being in the military and on a timeline to move off island. I told them initially that it would need to be taken care of immediately and they made magic happen and got my engine taken out and to the machine shop in no time, all of the setbacks were due to shipping parts that we needed from the mainland. But they were at it and made sure everything was broken in and even made follow up call to ensure everything was still good after i got the car back. It took a month which probably would've been longer if it were other shops. Im so satisfied with their service and exceeded my expectations. RJ has especially made sure i was informed and kept me aware of the status every step of the way! He also gave me very good advice on how to go from here to get the best out of my upgrades and so that it lasts. If anyone would ask me for a shop on Oahu, it would be these guys for sure. read more

I can't really say enough about these guys. I recently brought my car in to fix an oil leak that I simply couldn't tackle in my garage. Because my car has a rare engine/transmission combination, they mistakenly quoted me for MUCH less labor than they should have. Even after they realized their mistake, they still honored the original quote. Additionally, while they had everything apart, they discovered two more parts that were shot (motor mount, water pump). They recommended replacing the parts, which saved me a LOT of money in future labor costs. And I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work! I knew about these guys because a few months ago they helped my wife out with a minor issue. It only took a few minutes and there were no parts to buy so they sent her on her way without charging her. If you're looking for excellent quality work from HONEST mechanics, look no further than these two gentlemen. And to top it off, the dollars you spend stay right here on the island. Aloha! read more

This will probably the only place I'd take my car for repairs. Eli and his crew were fast and on point.

Eli who is part owner of the shop does a very thorough job on maintenance and repair of my truck and van. I trust Eli fully to get the job done right and not over charge. I send all of my friends to his shop. Check Eli and R J out and you will see what I'm talking about. read more

No one on island has touched my car other than these guys and the exhaust shop. These two guys are legit they verify with you first before working on stuff and let you know what to expect before hand! Not a single over charge. If I need to ask a question they help. RJ and Eli are great mechanics and know their stuff. Being super mechanically inclined, it's hard to know what the heck is going on with my car. HANDS DOWN to ELI AND RJ for pulling out 3 tough broken exhaust manifold bolts. Tough tough job and they knocked it out like champs!

The other Yelpers have it right. In the world of car repair, I need all the help I can get. When Eli and RJ explain things, I don't feel dumb. In fact, they help me participate in the decisions about my car. Today, I had a whole lot of things that needed attention: my bolo head tires, an alternator that another mechanic said was on its last leg (Eli said it wasn't), a fan that blew an old dog odor into the car, and spark plugs that weren't all firing. RJ rounded off the cost, which helped me tremendously. These fellas are "old school" even though they're a bit younger than me. They're honorable, experienced, and customer-oriented. read more

I recently ended up having my engine overheat. I called up to these guys and asked them if they would be able to give a look that day. To my surprise they said yes. My tow was 4 hours late and they were still able to get me in and get my car looked at. I wasn't able to get everything I needed done until the next day, but the whole thing was a great experience. I won't hesitate ever bringing my car back to these guys. read more

RJ and his crew at Performance Auto Repair are honest and hard-working mechanics that have a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. They are fair with their hourly rate and know how to tackle any issues with your vehicle. They ordered quality parts and even checked each one to see if they work prior to installing(they found a defective part and immediately ordered a new one). This is the kind of attention to detail that will prevent a problem in the future, save you money, and ensure safety (especially the critical component failure [ie.] brakes and lines). They went above and beyond by giving me the option to opt out of less critical repairs, rebuilt parts that were salvagable, and did some additional electrical diagnosis free of charge just to help me out. (This is usually a expensive and time consuming process). I recommend these guys for a fair and quality work. There are probably cheaper places, but it will not likely match their quality of work. Remember you can only have 2 out these 3 things when you want a repair or refurbish. Fast Service, Quality Work, Cheap Price. If you opt for a Fast and Cheap job, you won't get quality. If you want Fast and Quality work, it won't be cheap. If you want Cheap and Quality work, it's not going to fast. read more
