I normally to go to a mechanic shop but wanted to try something else. I went found on yelp, a mobile mechanic, with high reviews. As usual, yelp algorithm, gives three mechanics, but went to take my chance on Reliable Mobile Mechanic. I got in touch with Branden, and explained my situation. He was able to diagnose the problem, and fixed my car faster than I expected. His rates are very competive, and reasonable. If I went to a brick and motar shop, I would have to pay overhead for their rent, etc...In the end, I am glad, I used Branden, and will use him again for future car repairs. I brought my tires that I purchased, and they were supposed to just install the tires. they removed the tires from the car, removed the tires from the rim and identified that the rims needed sanding and sealing. If I could I would give them a 0. 2 and a half years ago, I took my car to Pearl City Auto Works for a brake job. It cost me almost $5k to do it. Now they told me I gotta spend another $2400 to fix the same problem. My other half and I talked business with the owner's daughter Shay Nakamura about the situation and asked certain questions and she couldn't give any feedback to the situation at hand. She tried to give me a discount, but I don't think it was enough, considering I know for a fact they are charging me 3-4x the actual cost for the parts and then will eventually get more money back because of the cores. I text the number they text me with explaining my situation and there were no response. 2 phone numbers they text me from I left a text message, no response. That right there shows me that that they have poor communication skills. Communication was done with text. To be honest, I prefer real conversation with a person/company. I believe that they either did a poor job 2 and a half years ago or the quality of parts they used suck!! I got ripped off the first time and they tried to do that again the second time around. They took a look at my car, noted a few other things that needed attention, provided recommendations, and provided a price quote which required approval before proceeding with any work. After issues were identified, they were honest when explaining what was truly necessary versus what was simply a "nice to have". This is particularly helpful when you're on a budget as car repair costs can really add up quickly! I was able to schedule my car drop-off ahead of time, which was super convenient since their location is a bit cramped (right off the highway off-ramp next to Seafood Cartel). This made drop-off and pick-up so much smoother. Fair quotes, great communication, and trustworthy service all around. Recommended if you're in the Salt Lake, Aiea or Pearl City area! P.S.
