Lower control arm mounting bolt. Major fail.
    Patrick H.

Unsafe and mechanically not competent. I try to never give a bad review. They performed work on my 2000 Toyota RAV4, straightforward maintenance, timing belt, valve cover gasket and engine mounts. Car drove fine when I brought it in and now vibrates like crazy, misfires and they broke parts of the engine that were fine beforehand. They left MAJOR suspension bolts hanging loose, engine mount nut missing, intake hoses disconnected and not secured properly, throttle cable bolts were finger tight, wires misrouted, oil leaking from a $4 gasket that should have been changed while replacing the timing belt, broke both upper and lower timing cover mounting points, reinstalled the alternator incorrectly, failed to tell me there was oil in the spark plug cylinder (in order to save me money!) now I have to remove the valve cover again that they just replaced so I can reseal the valve tubes and it even appeared like they tried to cover up the alternator wires with plastic conduit to hide the alternator mounting issue when they had installed it incorrectly. I gave them a second chance to "make it right" after the oil leak showed up right after changing the timing belt but that led to them breaking the timing covers and not installing the bolt there, cus it's fine, as well as reinstalling the alternator wrong. My bad for expecting the mechanic to look at a Toyota manual, read the instructions and torque specs for bolts and mounting hardware and to make it right. $1700 later I need to replace the cheap motor mounts they installed so that the car will not vibrate like crazy, I reinstalled the alternator tension mount properly, secured the loose bolts, hoses and suspension components, will have to remove the valve cover myself or pay someone else to reseal the leaky spark plug tubes and replace the timing cover which is basically almost the same as changing the timing belt in hours. Tony bought me the replacement timing covers but couldn't spring for the cost of a valve cover gasket because he's "tapped out on the job". I liked Tony and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt as a small local business owner but his priority of making money seemed to overshadow actually fixing the car properly and competently the first (and second) time so he wouldn't be tapped out during a job. I am afraid that only time will tell how the timing belt will hold up and I'm sure that I will find a few more surprises when I get in there to repair the repairs. This RAV is new to me but had a very extensive single owner maintenance history except for the timing belt and now I feel as if it has been molested by a mechanic that really didn't care about my car. The first time my daughter drove the car after the repairs she called me after starting it and asked, "Dad what's wrong with the car? It's making all kinds of noises." So unfortunate. I sincerely hope that Tony is able to rectify his employee problems for his sake and reputation. He has a nice shop and all the tools anyone could ask for but the lack of execution and attention to detail was disturbing and unsafe. Please use your own judgement if considering this "mechanic" shop for your maintenance or repairs. Mahalo for your time in reading this.

Its more in the middle of Kapa'a Quarry road closer to the Comfort station where you dump your trash. There is a slight hill you turn up and you will see the industrial areas pass the first big open area and turn into the next right area and you… Read more

I searched and searched for somewhere that seemed like their reviews reflected that same thing i was looking for. Falling on some hard times i had a registration that was expired for 2 years as well as my safety and my car hasn't been maintenanced in god knows how long, thank goodness i have a Toyota! Finally able to stop riding dirty and get caught up, i was in search for someone to check my service light as well as do my failed safety so i could get my reg. After searching for a place review after review, it seemed that Pearl City Auto Works stood out to me. I messaged on yelp and someone got back to me within an hour or two and i was told to bring the car the following day to get looked and and possibly leave it overnight. Even though i need my car, i was going to do what it took so i can get my car legal again. Upon checking in i was greeted by a Shay ( i think that was her name) she went over everything with me. I left and later that day around 5:30 i got a call from the tech saying that everything was done and i could pick it up, i was confused because it was past their working hours but he said they were still working! That was already amazing to me that they were working even after they were technically closed. They also have a texting system with pictures to tell you what is good about your car, what needs to be fixed sooner rather than later and things that need to be fixed but not as urgent. As another reviewer said they have a lot of parking as they are located near where Ige's is. Upon pick up i got my bill and was not overcharged for anything and they did not try to do services that were unnecessary, very affordable in my eyes. I am definitely coming back here again and again!! Love the customer service and even when i talked to the technician he was super nice, usually they are grumpy and trying to end the convo. If you need somewhere good to take your car where they won't rip you off please come here!

I also got help when my a/c failed and they were able to keep my a/c going without a lot more expense on my part. But then my 2010 PT Cruiser seemed to have some serious problems about 4 months ago --initially a dead battery which was replaced on 10/17/25 --but then my car died again within a month and was towed back to Tenn's with what I was told was an anti-theft problem with the key setting off the car's alarm system. Then my car sat for 5 WEEKS while nothing was done until around 12/23/25. I kept calling for updates every week and would be told by the front office staff that they were "short-staffed" and just needed "another week". I also talked directly to the mechanic (Blake) who told me that the car was actually running but he hadn't had time to really investigate what was going on but that he would be able to set aside a few hours before Christmas to figure out what was going on with my car. In the end, the only thing the mechanic could do was put in a temporary battery disconnect system to bypass the key setting off the alarm when I tried to open the car door or turn on the ignition. Except it didn't really work. I texted Blake right after I got my car home and he suggested I wait longer than 5-10 minutes to reset the battery; I should try waiting 15 or 20 minutes. I waited an hour. I tried the next day and the next. I got my car to work once or twice in the next 5 days. But not after that. Tenn's was closed for the holidays until 1/6/26. There was never a way to leave a phone message and my texts to the number that I had previously texted went unanswered. Eventually, I decided to sell my much-loved car for parts since it wasn't running. Two different people showed up who looked at the temporary battery disconnect lever and they were each rather surprised at how it had been installed since it was 1) on the positive battery terminal rather than the negative and 2) it was loose and so close to the metal frame of the car. Evidently this was a risky situation for creating a spark and potential fire each time I used the car. The Tenn's mechanic said on my receipt that my car needed parts that weren't available from their vendor or the dealership (SKIM and PCM module) but as it turned out, I sold my car to someone who was a very experienced mechanic who replaced the worn ignition and got the car running again. It didn't need the two modules that were recommended at all. I'm still really upset because I don't think the Tenn's mechanic knew what he was doing at all but he never gave me the option of taking my car elsewhere; instead he put in a potentially very dangerous and completely inefficient "solution"; wasted a lot of my time and money but most important of all, he undermined my confidence in mechanics in general and Tenn's in particular.

I called Willy's because my cars transmission was in desperate need of repair since it was slipping. It was failing in 2nd gear when I took my car in. I got it back 9 days later it was not smooth at all!! The cars idle was not smooth and cruising downhill feels like the car is going to slip at any moment. After making an appointment to get the work rechecked the shop called me back after 10 minutes to tell me the car is ready to be picked up and the car is all done. When I asked the gentleman for a printed report of the inspection or what was done in the short period of time he informed me that there was nothing to report back to me. Complete rip off for nearly $5,000 dollars. I will be taking my business elsewhere and most likely have to spend another couple thousand to get my transmission running smooth.
