I hope its okay to Daryl and the team I am doing this but I canʻt help it, they just was so maikai. I just moved to Kaneohe from Hilo. My check engine and track lights came on I used my OBD11 reader and It was pooling fuel lean in bank 1. I went to Oʻreilys hoping I could just change a coil or spark plug, it was neither, I asked the guys iff they recomended anyone as I just moved on island. I was recomended to Daryl and the Alii Auto Repair team. I drove over and Daryl was so welcoming. I knew he might not be able to get to my car that day but left it hoping they might be able to squeeze it in. They coulnʻt but Daryl said return next day. I returned and he explained the code coud be a multitude of things and he and his team are banking on the fuel injectors just needing some cleaning to which they added a solution to my engine. He fully disclosed other things couldʻve been the reason or future might have re-occuring lights so he said just drive the vehicle and see, try 2 re-fuels of gas and see. I went to pay and Daryl said its okay. He knows iʻm good for it and will return to him and his team for any future repairs. Don't trust this shop. They're good a exploiting niceness. Behind the scenes they will mess up your car and act like it's so cheap. Cheap is only their jobs. Not the repairs you will have to get after they touched your car. 1st met Daryl for battery change. Then he suggest try service of aircon cleaning $600.00 ok I thought try a mechanic service. My wrong there was nothing wrong with my car until the service was done and now the oil leaks from head gasket. Took it back to this service station twice before realizing they can't fix the leak. When they had my car the last time Daryl mentioned we siliconed fixed it. My new mechanic (A's Automotive Shop) on sumner St. showed me picture of what was done horrified. I don't know how anyone can recommend this place. Currently considering taking AAA to court over a bait and switch scam by Alii. I requested BATTERY SERVICES on the AAA app, with the automated system over the phone, and verbally with the AAA roadside assistance agent. That's 3 separate ways I communicated I had a dead battery and wanted it tested and replaced. I had a completely dead battery that needed to be replaced, not just jumped. Alii took the call even though they do not offer battery services and could do no testing of cold crank amps (CCA) and showed up with no replacement batteries. All they did is come with a jump pack and a tow truck, which this is not what the service call was. I told Daryl this and he rudely didn't help me and just said they didn't do battery testing and drove off after trying his jump pack. Well, Daryl, that's not what I ordered! If you can't provide the service, you shouldn't respond to the call. Otherwise you're just a scam artist. He completely wasted my time and I had to get another service call. This time getting O'Sung's Towing which actually brought battery testing test equipment ,and not only tested my battery but had replacement batteries for me to purchase. read more

I'm new to the island, don't know much about cars, and had just bought a used car off Craigslist. I am so glad I found Alii Auto! The car needed some major work done and they were able to help me with everything (safety inspection, burnt fuse, replaced headlight, broken motor mounts -- Daryl even talked me through a crisis over the phone when I found out the battery was shot as well) -- car now runs more smoothly than I thought it could. I just wish I found them sooner (like before I bought the car!). Will definitely come back in the future for oil changes and tune ups. Highly, highly recommend! read more

They no longer do safety checks FYI. I used their towing service twice and the guy was great, happy, jolly, I laughed instead of being freaked out when my tire BLEW (not a flat--BLOWOUT) really shaking me up and left me stranded on the side of the road. They changed my tire (Firestone changed it last time and kept my jack!!! Didn't know until we went to get it!!@#$) and got me going fast. MAHALO for the good energy. I needed it! Lucky I was still going to H-3 and not ON it when the tire blew! Years ago they got me going when I got locked out of my car too. Good guys. read more

Of 30 times the phone was answered once. And know they're busy as the owner is a very nice person just that there's many things I asked to have done and was partially done where parts are still in the vehicle and hose attachment to air filter not reconnected, and even jammed my locks as I always need to lock each door not from my driver's seat but either reaching far across to lock or unlock or taking the long route walking around the vehicle and using either the key or manually flipping it up or down. I will finish this later and don't forget the 2650 dollars paid for what is called a blown head gasket done and the vehic6 never ran the same after, bogging and sometimes was okay but definitely intermittent. I know it's a pretty big job and every time I brought it back I was told that either should be okay or they drove it a long ways, never felt the missing when are accelerating as I tried before bringing it in, to merge into traffic but I couldn't even past that other cat. Something has got to be not right as I owned that vehicle since 1996, and who knows their car better than anyone else? THE OWNER MOST DEFINITELY and don't bite on those 5 star reviewers as it's called HOOMALIMALI...I will post photos at a later time. Reviews and gossip causes hard feelings and with any personal small business customers use even if you're a steady customer you can't indicate anything of negative interest with the business and you know why...! will post photos as I am wasting time. My work van has had a flashing check engine light for a couple weeks. Some times no light, and ran perfectly. Other days hard shaky idle and slow acceleration until it warmed up. I took it to Alii auto, concerned it could be a serious (expensive problem). They called me the next day. Told me there was a spark plug cable unplugged. It was reconnected and this fixed the problem temporarily. They simply recommended I get new plugs and possibly cables. I was really surprised. I honestly thought it was going to be a super expensive job. They didn't have to be that honest, but they were. Very relieved and grateful. Thanks guys! read more

I seem to have a knack for realizing my safety inspection sticker has expired after it's expired. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and parked on the far side of the parking lot from the repair shop. One of the twins walked to my car to greet me, rather than me getting out and going to them, and asked for my proof of insurance, registration and keys. My inspection was completed in 12 minutes, which included them checking out my back windshield wiper to see if I'd purchased the proper replacement (I hadn't). I paid $20 and was on my way, ahead of schedule. How often does that happen? Two things to keep in mind: 1). They close for lunch from 11 to 12; and 2). An appointment is required for safety inspections. No walk-ins. I was extremely pleased with the service rendered. read more

Having your Vehicle break down is something not everyone is happy about but getting the service from Ali'i towing was worth it. My Radiator blew and I needed a tow from Windward mall to Kalihi. I called a couple of different tow places in the area but Ali'i tow had the best price. So I eventually called them back and asked to actually get the tow and if he was still willing to do it and he said he had just stopped at home to use the bathroom and he'll be there in 15-20 mins. At first I thought that was funny but he seems pretty cool enough to share that kind of information. Anyways, he shows up 15 mins later and starts hooking up my 97 4runner, literally in less then 5 mins my 4runner was hooked up and secured. He asked for my address and off we went. Got it towed to my house and he dropped it and collected his money, I did tip him a little extra and he even was talking story asking what I was going to do with my 4runner and how he flips cars and wouldn't mind buying it. That was great to know! I definitely will use this tow service again if I had to but doesn't look like I will be for a while. read more

I'm one of those car owners who's safety check expired last summer without realizing it. I started to call around to several companies that do safety checks and it is hard to believe the response that I got from them. Some indicated "just come and wait" and other indicated "leave the car with us and we can't say when we'll get to it". I called Alii Auto and they actually made an appointment for the next day. I arrived a few minutes early for my 2:30pm appointment and was out in less than 15 minutes. The owners were friendly and professional. They even send out safety check renewal reminders!! Sure there's not a lot of $$ doing safety checks, but I am going to consider talking to them about any future car repairs. Making another appointment next week for a family member safety check. So, bought a used van earlier this year and noticed after I'd had it for a couple days that the front end rattled when going down bumpy roads etc. Took it to two different places before Ali'i and nobody could tell me what was wrong. The fella at Ali'i told me right over the phone what it probably was and sure enough when they looked at it, that's what it was. I just called them and described some trouble i was having with my car, and asked for an appt for tomorrow since I won't have any days off for a few days after that. The guy on the phone (I wish I had gotten his name) was so apologetic that they are booked full for tomorrow. He said he doesn't want mt to wait to get it checked out though, so HE called around so that i could get someone trustworthy in the same area that had availability. That was really sweet, and he went out of his way even though he wouldn't be getting the business.
