I am thankful to find them on yelp. I have been calling around for estimates and some shops have given me the run around or said they were too busy and couldn't get it fixed within the next 4 days. Then I saw SS auto repair here on yelp. I called on a Monday to ask for an estimate to fix my water pump, got the estimate and dropped off my car on Tuesday at 8am and they were done by 1:30pm the same day. A HUGE THANK YOU for saving me because I rely heavily on my car for work. Found myself in a jam this past week when my clutch went out. (Okay I saw the signs, but didn't know what was wrong with my car until it was almost too late). Got a referral from a friend for SS Auto. Read the Yelp reviews and decided to give them a try. Called them up and they were able to squeeze me in. They fixed my clutch and also helped me repair some engine mounts that were broken and cracked. I REALLY appreciated that they caught this issue before it became a real problem. They were kind enough to let me pick up my car Saturday morning to accommodate my schedule. As a female going into an auto repair shop, I am always a bit skeptical because I'm not too well versed in cars (besides one year of auto in high school but that wasn't enough). What I can say is that Sean and Manu put me at ease. These two are genuine guys and you will be able to pick up that energy right away. They took the time to explain in detail what was going on with my engine mounts. They even lifted the car to show me the broken and cracked mounts. (I love proof since I think in terms of scientific evidence based!!) Everything made sense and I felt really comfortable working with them every step of the way. I ran things by my boyfriend and everything they explained added up. So I moved forward with the additional work. So I don't often write reviews. Partially because my profession keeps me busy, but mostly because my spirit animal is a sloth. I say that not to bore you, but just to illustrate that if I'm writing a review that means the business left a significant impression on me. My alternator suddenly died on me on the way to work leaving me stranded and without a vehicle. I had my car towed to a nearby business which quickly diagnosed my now expired alternator. I felt decent about that business repairing my vehicle, but then the quoted price gave me sticker shock. The labor price was fair, but the charge for the alternator was nearly double what it would cost to go to an auto parts store and purchase the part myself. I called SS Auto with my issue, explained my situation, and immediately was put at ease. SS Auto is extremely fair. While I won't go into details about what the owner did for me, but I'll say all my concerns were addressed and more. The owner even allowed me to drop off my vehicle the night before so I could park a rental at my apartment complex - a huge deal in the local area. In the end I was charged *substantially* less than what I was quoted at the other business. SS Auto 100% has my business while I'm on island and I wouldn't hesitate to refer my own mother to them. Simply put this is the most honest mechanic shop on island and you'd be a fool to take your business elsewhere. read more

I LOVE SS Auto!! I have been taking my car to Sean for many years. I'm retired now, but when I was still working I made the drive across the Pali each day. Whenever I had a car emergency Sean always found a way to fit me in and get my car back on the road as soon as possible. Yesterday my car broke down. I heard about SS Auto Repair through a friend. They told me this place was affordable, quick and everyone that works there is great. And I couldn't agree more. I brought in my 2012 Hyundai Accent because I was having issues with my alignment. SS Auto Repair was able to squeeze me. I ended up needing new front tires because mine were balding so bad you could see the tread. Everywhere on island was out of the tires I needed. It would take 5-8 days to get them. Upon Sean's word he did my wheel alignment after six months due to the warranty ALSO upon them reversing my car off the ramp I noticed my reverse light was out. They didn't have the bulb but told me if I went and got it they would replace it, so I went, and just as sean said, they fixed it free of charge. Reccomend! Now I must get new maf harness which could run me up to 6-900 bucks all because of their crap job they tell me to get bigger injectors and other things but it won't fix the messed up job they did. Do not go here they are the type of mechanics to do it under the books like they did me and ask you how much you think you'd pay for it. After I said 600 which is way over they all acted like that was too little and 700 sounded like a good price. Highest you should pay is 5 for a job like that. They don't give you a baseline price. They go off of what you think and they upsale. Like I said 700 for an intake manifold job all cash and under the books watch out everyone take it to rad Motorsport or somewhere who is more accustomed to this type of work. If you're just getting your oil changed that's fine for this shop but other then what a lube technician can do. Take it somewhere else rad Motorsport helped me reassemble everything and charged me way cheaper than these rip offs... he also says he used to be shop owner there 15 years ago. This place was sincerely awesome and I'll continue to take my car here as long as I live on island. I never write Yelp reviews, but these guys went out of their way to help me when my car alternator/battery broke and my car stopped in the middle of an intersection. They came and picked me up and got my car going enough to get it to the repair shop ten minutes down the road, saving me the cost of a tow. Within two hours, they'd figured out the problem with my car and replaced my battery, with a new warranty, for free. Not to mention they were so kind, helpful, and communicative. The only charge essentially came from the inspection. Could not rave about this place more. 10/10. read more

Sean and his crew is so AWESOME!!! I have brought my 2 vehicles here and the service was excellent!!! Sean always did everything to accommodate us. He gave us honest estimates and did the job right! I have had my AC evaporator replaced, water pump replaced, the starter on my Nissan Titan replaced. He gave me the very best options and if it weren't for SS Auto Repair I might have sold my truck because the starter is very hard to get to and very expensive to replace. The top part of the engine has to be completely removed and they did it at the most reasonable price. I am very impressed with their knowledge on the engines. He even went out of his way to fix the door lock. I would definitely recommend SS Auto Repair for all your automotive repair. They are honest and I have not had any automotive problems since going there. I have tried so many other places but they never took the time to make sure that nothing else might cause a problem later on. Sean also found a busted hose and replaced that as well.
