My catalytic converter was almost stolen - caught the thieves in the act - but it was damaged enough to require repair and some thought. How do I deter would-be thieves from trying again in the future? There didn't seem to be any local options so I went online and found only a few. One was a plate that covered the entire area near the catalytic converter underneath the car, basically a massive plate. That made sense as a deterrent but I've seen catalytic converters get red hot so didn't think trapping heat would be a smart move. I ended up choosing "CatSecurity" and took advantage of their 2 day free shipping anywhere - even to to Hawaii. Now the trick was to find someone who would do the install. My dealership wouldn't so I reached out to 5 auto shops with high stars. The only one who returned my inquiry with any kind of intelligence and care was NT Automotive. They were very up front. They had never done this model of catalytic converter protection before and asked for more details. I found the install instructions online and send it to them. They came back with a quote range (which totally made sense as they didn't know what they were getting into). I agreed and we set a date. Dropped off the car and picked it up within the same day. As the car was already off the lift they texted me a picture of the work. To my surprise, the cost was on the low end of the quote. The owner was super friendly and obviously knowledgeable. He now knows how to install CatSecurity products so if you'd like to protect your catalytic converter, order one online and bring it to NT!

2013 pilot. Pretty clean--looks like new

We took our 2013 Honda Pilot there for some fluid changes. They took great care of our vehicle and he even cleaned/detailed the entire engine--it looked brand new. Not even something we asked for and weren't charged at all. He also identified a bad shock in the rear and we won't hesitate to bring it back for more servicing. Very affordable....and clearly the mechanic is an automotive expert.

I was given an estimate of $350. Final invoice was $750, $665 of which was itemized as "labor".

I needed a wheel bearing assembly replaced on 1 front tire on my car. NT Automotive estimated $350 for the job. Dropped the car off on Saturday and left it with them. Come Monday, they increased the price on me to $650 due to needing to outsource the work to another company. On Tuesday, when the car was ready for pickup, it mysteriously increased another hundred dollars and I was being charged $750. At no point was a $750 price tag discussed before starting the $350 job. Somehow, the cost just kept increasing, with the final price being MORE THAN DOUBLE (215%) what I was originally quoted. At most, a wheel bearing & hub assembly should cost about $200 at places like Napa Auto. Lower end assemblies can be purchased for less, $100-$150. This means I am being charged $600-$650 for labor. When I look at their invoice breakdown, save parts charges and taxes, I am being charged $450 for labor and $215 for outsourced labor. Outsourcing the labor was not communicated in the estimate prior to me taking in my car. By the time I was being told it would cost me MORE THAN DOUBLE my estimate, the existing wheel bearing assembly had already been taken apart, meaning, the car was already rendered undrivable until repaired by their pricing structure. In other words, I had no choice (other than towing the car somewhere) but to pay an arbitrary price they kept hiking up as "labor". If there's an unforeseen circumstance, I can understand $500. But $750?! To sell me on $350, then upcharge me $400 more than what they quoted feels deceptive, misleading, dishonest, ridiculous, disappointing, and unprofessional. Unless they spent 7-8 hours straight, uninterrupted, working on my single wheel bearing assembly, I don't know how you can justify charging $665 for labor. Poor communication. Not okay. Feeling blindsided. Would never go back. Would never recommend.

Brake wasn't working at all for years -- completely rusted. This repair might have saved our lives.

Professional and superior car repairs done with Aloha! - EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE - VAST KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CARS - WORKED WITH OUR BUDGET - QUALITY WORK, HIGH VALUE - OHANA RUN OPERATION - TRUE ALOHA SPIRIT I found Todd and Nori on Yelp after visiting Lex Brodie's for a check up. To be honest, I wish I had skipped Lex Brodie's and came to NT Automotive from the start! They are wonderful and are now my go to island automotive specialist. So here's my experience... Lex Brodie's sent me to an engine specialist because they suspected a leak. I looked online and brought my 2002 Ford Escape to Nori and Todd at NT Automotive right away. It was easy to set up a time and Nori was extremely responsive to my texts and calls for drop off. (See photos for examples of their superb communication!) After inspecting my car, Todd found something alarming that Lex Brodie's failed to notice -- only one of my front brakes was fully functioning! Not only is this extremely dangerous when driving up and down the pali each day but it's illegal to be on the road! I was especially upset because Lex Brodie's did a brake inspection and had me replace a brake part but didn't notice or mention this fatal flaw. (See before picture of wheel.) Lucky for me, I was in the hands of knowledgeable professionals. They searched the island for the part needed which was no longer in production. Next, they searched other islands and the mainland. They were able to track down the part off island and order it within hours of discovering the issue. With the part ordered we waited for it's arrival. In the meantime, Todd washed the engine. At this time a leak wasn't detected but I'll be back in a month for a follow up. When the part for the brakes arrived it was immediately installed and tested. Todd and Nori went above and beyond communicating with me and my grandpa along the way. Today, the brakes work perfectly and I feel safe driving my family around the island. Todd even gave me a full run down of future repairs with the suspension to expect given the age of my car (2002). He taught me what to look out for as precursors to the repairs. I can say I'm becoming more of a car girl thanks to him sharing his knowledge. All around I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this team that is professional, polished, kind, and hard working! They provide so much value and I am beyond happy to support this local business! Thank you, Nori and Todd -- NT Automotive!

I have a 2014 honda odyssey with electrical issues. Pretty sure it's the alternator. We need to tow is wherever we take it to avoid frying other parts. Time to fix it is of course critical for my family. Can this issue be fixed in a day?

What are some of the electrical issues you are experiencing?

Can you work on MGB? I think I may need carburetor adjustment. I don't have the SU carbs, instead I believe I have after market weber.

    Sorry no we don’t

I need new front brakes on a 2014 Kia Soul can I get an estimate?

What catalytic converter shield do you sell and how much for a 2019 Toyota Tacoma 4x2 ? Thanks Charles

Hi Charles I don’t sell the shields from my shop. I refer people to cat shield online to order one…

I'd like to start off by mentioning the great things I experienced. The team working on my truck…read morewas extremely knowledgeable and patient throughout the process. My partner received pictures and updates along the way, and I truly appreciated the communication, especially since they had my truck overnight. One challenge was how narrow the entrance is when pulling in, but thankfully that wasn't too much of an issue during drop-off. My experience ended up being 4 stars because I paid $704 for diagnostics and a transmission fluid service, only to be told that the transmission issues would likely continue over time. The recommendation given was that replacing the vehicle might be a better option if we didn't want to continue investing money into the truck. Afterward, I reached back out to ask for a quote on either rebuilding or replacing the transmission so I could better understand my options. Unfortunately, I've waited quite a while without receiving a response. At this point, even after spending the money on the diagnostics and service, the truck is still undrivable and sitting in a parking lot while I continue paying for a rental car. I completely understand that transmission work can be complicated, and I am grateful they were able to inspect my truck since I don't know much about transmissions myself. When I first brought the truck in, I also mentioned an issue with my taillight. I was initially told it would be added to the diagnostics at the end, but it was never looked at. I was later informed that I would need to pay an additional $185 just to diagnose the taillight issue. At that point, I decided to simply pick up the truck. The communication was excellent from start to finish while the vehicle was actively being worked on, but as a returning customer, I do feel disappointed that I haven't received any follow-up regarding the transmission quote. I'm hoping someone from the team can reach back out soon so I can better understand what my next steps and costs may be.

I went on Yelp and submitted a new project for my vehicle's repair. Neue was one of a few shops…read morethat replied and had availability. They were upfront about their diagnostic fee of $185 plus tax. I needed a new alternator, belt, and battery for my 2006 RAV4. I asked for a rough estimate so I could compare it to a few other shops, and they told me $400-$600 for parts and labor. After reading other positive reviews, I decided to have my car towed from Kaneohe to this shop. The drop-off went smoothly, and I received a call shortly after with two quotes. The first quote was $2,075 to replace the alternator, belt, and battery, and the second was $3,200 to also fix an oil leak in the engine. This is an older vehicle, and the quote was 4-5 times higher than what was originally estimated. I decided to pay the $185 diagnostic fee and take my car to a different shop. After calling around to a few smaller shops, they told me this specific car requires more labor because the radiator has to be removed. However, they said it should cost between $1,000-$1,300 at most. I ended up going to a local shop, and they completed the repairs for $1,150. They also checked for an oil leak and found nothing. This shop not only bait-and-switched me on pricing but also tried to get me to pay an extra $1,200 for a repair I didn't need. I would give 0 stars if I could and will be telling family and friends to avoid this shop, as they are not honest. UPDATE: 04/16/26 I uploaded a picture of the Yelp message coming directly from your company, so you can't call me a liar. 'If you can't produce this, what you're saying isn't just false, it's libel.' That is a direct quote from you. I also wasn't looking for the cheapest repair, I was looking for a fair quote. After visiting your shop I called three different shops and you quoted roughly twice the amount that they did. So I went with a shop that priced right in the middle and had good reviews. It's also interesting that you didn't mention your $1,200 quote for an oil leak that didn't exist. Your pricing is your pricing I just wish you were upfront about it or provided me with a more realistic quote. The shop I went to used all brand-new parts but sold them at cost rather than upcharging their customers. That business has been around for over 30 years, so it's surprising that you would resort to insulting their credibility rather than owning up to your mistake and making things right. Thank you for further proving my point about why people should avoid your shop. Maybe this isn't the experience for everyone, but as a first impression, it guaranteed that I won't be returning. Best of luck with your business.
