Mechanic was questioning why I brought in the car (because charging system was within spec abit on the high side and my dash lights, window motors, headlights, A/C were all resetting while driving) I told him to press the accelerator and then read the meter (+15V), (which I know because it alt meter on the dash pegged into the red) he suddenly changes his mind and goes "well I can't guarantee it but looks like your alternator/voltage regulator" Ok, which I was trying to tell you while you were cutting me off..... Long story short, they got it done, but at over 500 on a domestic alternator with straight ahead install and a dash of attitude like "we're doing YOU the favor of allowing you to bring your car here? and no warranty? I have been having issues with my driver's side headlight off and on for a year. It would work here and there and then shut off. Brought it to three different places and they couldn't figure it out. I brought it to Wayne's and within an hour he knew exactly what was wrong with it and fixed it completely within the next hour. It ended up being a blown socket which was causing a faulty connection. Wish I had found this man sooner, but so grateful I found him at all! It's obviously no fun when you have to get some lights or electrical circuits replaced on your vehicle, and I've had to come here three times to get my reverse lights and rear left-turn light replaced. Should be 6 stars! I first went to Goodyear with what I was sure was an alternator problem but they said everything checked out alright even after a $200 diagnostic check! The very knowledgeable receptionist at Wayne's even knew that the Goodyear check was not done properly because they used the new battery I had installed!! My friend Gordon recommended Wayne's to me when my car appeared to have something draining it's battery. I had a new battery installed only for it to need jump starts after a couple days. I read the yelp reviews and was encouraged; I dropped it off in the morning with no appointment expecting to pay big bucks for a new alternator only to find out that the wiring was bad with the negative battery connection. Car was done for only 52 bucks! They told me that they can do full service repairs for Hondas and Toyotas so although I love my mechanic at Halawa Valley Auto, good to know I have a trustworthy place in town. Wayne's helped me a lot in troubleshooting my Jeep's woes. I HIGHLY recommend this shop for any electrical-related work. Took my Jeep Wrangler to Wayne's because I was convinced that my Jeep's electrical was going berzerk. The radio was blinking uncontrollably, my AC was screeching, and the blinker just had to be replaced. He logically and calmly approached the issue :) and found no major issues, fixed a hole in one of the tubes for the AC and fixed it, and gave me advice on the radio... that it probably needed to be replaced (lol). They provided a quick diagnosis for my vehicle's electrical problems which turned out to be the master switch for the windows and door locks. They said they could order and install the switch from the dealer but it would cost over $1,000. Instead they suggested I order it on eBay and then bring it to them for installation. Turns out it only cost about $100 online. They charged me one hour labor for initial diagnosis to disassemble and reassemble the switch. It only took about 10 min to install the new switch so they didn't charge me any extra amount. What a great customer service encounter. They have superb expertise and experience and I will continue to recommend them to others. read more

I read the Yelp reviews and learned that Wayne's was the place to go for auto electrical problems so when my van was acting up on the way to work I drove to Wayne's without an appointment and by lunch I received a call saying that my car was ready for pick up! Jarret was very friendly, called for permission before doing any work, and answered all my questions with great detail. Bookmark Wayne's if you plan on holding on to your car for any length of time, because if you do electrical problems is almost a foregone conclusion. Our own dealership Serve Co Toyota didn't want to take the responsibility to do it. Called many auto shops and they also didn't want to do the job especially that our vehicle was newer. I have frequented this business since I moved from the Big Island to Oahu, back in 2008. One time back in 2009 (when the economy was super bad and we were all just trying to make ends meet and stay afloat) my starter on my work truck was not getting a hot, and they trouble shot it but there was something amiss with my wiring harness, and the mechanic ran a hot from the battery to my starter, and told me, "This isn't the correct fix, but it will get you back on the road and back to work. We're not going to charge you for this." Very cool, very nice people. Today I was driving my 2014 Ford F150 and I lost power, the temperature gauge pegged at the top of the scale, and I limped off of the H-1 to look at my options. I called Wayne's Auto Electric and after I described what I had going on they told me to just bring it in. The tow truck driver I hired charged me $250+ to tow it from top of Waialae to around Ward and Kapiolani. I dropped the truck off at 10:00 a.m. expecting the worse. At 3:00 p.m. I get a call from Wayne's Auto Electric and they told me that I was back on the road, and everything was cool- just a bad water pump and a new serpentine belt, and some new coolant. I wouldn't post the price, except that they were so amazingly fair with me! $413.00! Very fair! And they got me back on the road and working in less than a day! If I were to say three things about Waynes Auto Electric, I would say very knowledgeable technicians, very fair prices, and very good people! Thank you! I have dropped off my vehicles here many times and am always pleased when I come back to pick it up. I've had problems with draining batteries, lights not working, anything electric I take my car here. I dropped off my golf this morning at 9:00 and was called to pick it up at 1:00.They called and told me my latest problem was with my aftermarket stereo and I needed a different alternator. They advised it would be expensive and to just uninstall the amp/sub instead. They said they didn't really do much(their words) and just charged me $20 for the time. (They have an hourly billable rate of $85). It's tough to find reputable car repair shops, this is one of the few honest ones left. Here at Wayne's Auto Electric, the quality workmanship & service coupled with the price ensure that the pain is minimal! As far as repair shops go, Wayne's specializes in auto electrical system(s) repair. If you're having problems related to the electrical system such as lights not working or electronic switches or lights not turning on this is one of the go to places to take the car in to get it checked out. Like any other auto repair business in the Kaka'ako area, Wayne's is a very simple and minimal looking shop that you'd expect. There's no frills like lots of covered parking and a nice reception area with receptionists to help you fill out paperwork and pay for service like at other repair shops or at the dealer but you shouldn't expect it. You pull up to the front of the shop which is basically an open air garage with cars lined up on the inside in various states of repair work and a little desk sits off on the far right side where you fill out paperwork and pay. It is the epitome of a no-nonsense repair shop and that's fine by me. Jarret, who is the manager and what seemed like the sole proprietor was pleasant to work with. As I mentioned earlier, this is a no-nonsense place so you can expect that Jarret will cut to the chase and try to figure out exactly what is wrong with your car's electrical system. No BS, no schmoozing, no salesmanship but again this is expected and also a very great way to ensure things get done. Jarret is a pleasant guy however, so as long as you're now screwing around and beating around the bush he'll take the time to listen to your problem and explain things. I called him a day prior and explained my problem with the dashboard lights not illuminating and he said to bring my car in the next morning as soon as they open. When I arrived early in the morning at 7am when the shop opens, he wasn't there but his assistant was and she took my information down along with the key and told me Jarret would contact me as soon as he looked at the car. A few hours later I was called and given a brief explanation and made arrangements to pay and picked up my car. Unfortunately due to the timing of bills and other things I had to pay for during this holiday season, I couldn't pay the entire bill upfront but Jarret worked something out with me so that I could still take my car and have the work finished up later in the week. Now that's awesome service! Other times I've come here for other repair jobs, for similar issues, it's been quick and in-and-out. I've come to get sensors for lights repaired or replaced and it's been reasonable. Even the problem I was experiencing with my dashboard lights and tail light was reasonably priced and spot-on. No overcharging for things I didn't need & I didn't break the bank on labor costs either! Reliable and dependable service is the name of the game here! These are the reasons I keep coming back when I need electrical work done on my car. It's a no frills shop but they get job done right and reasonably affordable! The shop that I took my car to was not able to fix the window - it was an electric problem. The tech working on my car recommended Wayne's and even dropped my car off there for me. Justin worked on my car. Gave me the sad news that the part would cost a surprising $515 from the dealership. It was more than I was expecting to pay so I picked up the car and he gave me info on the part. I did pay for the 1/2 hour he spent diagnosising the problem and left. Luck was on my side. Amazon had the part for $65 and 2 days later I was back. He replaced the part, fixed the problem and didn't charge me anything for the second visit. I have a company ford van that is hardly driven but even sitting idle requires regular maintenance so we contacted Honolulu Ford like we have done in the past. It shouldnt be news to anyone that service at dealers are typically higher than independent shops. HNL Ford did not have any open time slots for about 2 weeks so we looked around Kakaako and of course used Yelp. We saw that Wayne's had many good reviews so our admin set up an appointment for me. On the day that I dropped off the van, I was greeted by Jarrett who is the VP and seems to run the entire operation. He was very easy to talk to and there was so many things I wanted to do with the maintenance since the van had not been serviced in over a year. One by one as I mentioned the specific repair, Jarrett would methodically explain to me that I would either not need it or he could look and give me a diagnosis. The maintenance and repairs were done in a reasonable time and I was very surprised at the total cost which was lower than i expected.
