I come here often to get my dogs supplies and toys. Today was my baby boys birthday. He's the sweetest dog ever. He was so well behaved in the store but all he got was dirty looks and ignored by the team members on duty. But the other dogs in the store didn't because they weren't pit bulls. You would think people who work in the pet industry wouldn't have these biases still but apparently not. What would have been a fun experience for him quickly turned awkward when I realized he wasn't welcome. Also what ever happened to customer service? This Mudbay is just.... AWESOME! I am so glad to have it close to my house. We get our food for our dog and cats here and they love it. They have great quality food as well. The staff here is so nice and kind. They know us by name and they know our dogs and cats. They take the time to ask about them whenever we go in for a visit. They also host cool events from time to time like free photo booths and stuff. We took our dog to one and they took the cutest holiday photos. I highly recommend this Mudbay! read more

What's not to love about Mud Bay - they've got friendly and knowledgeable customer service, and a wide variety of products at a range of price points. And whenever my dog and I walk by, he tries to go into the store lol - it's like visiting Disneyland for him! I also really tip my hat to them for following COVID protocols - they ask every customer to sanitize their hands, and they limit the number of customers. There's never a long line though, and I'm more than happy to wait outside for a bit in exchange for a safer visit. read more

Employees here are very knowledgeable. My dog, Cali, and I came in for an antler bone because she is super picky and that's the only bone she likes that she won't chew through in under 15min. I don't have any pets, but today I was here to pickup some donations for Seattle Area Feline Rescue. I'd never been here before but everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Not only did they help me find a place to park (since Broadway E on Capitol Hill is tricky), but they helped me load a ton of boxes into my car. When I was in the store momentarily I noticed how friendly the employees were and how this location (were it feasible for me) might be a nice place to work. I probably won't be back unless my volunteer work requires it, but based on my visit, I definitely recommend it. One thing of note- it's slightly hard to find and parking can be scarce but I'm glad I called ahead. BTW they do offer curbside delivery. read more

I'm really impressed with the staffs knowledge and that they approached asking if we needed any help. One of their staff members gave us several great recommendations on dog food and explained the differences in each one. They only carry good healthy items for you pet so no need to worry about poisons used in making any of the snacks or chews. They have a big selection of bully sticks and rings we bought a few rings for our dog to try. We also bought shampoo for our dog here since I know it will be a good brand the shampoos I saw at PetSmart I wasn't very sure about. So this is a great place to find items you need that are good for your pet that you cannot find elsewhere, and with a friendly staff how could you go wrong! read more

Mud Bay is amazing. It's more expensive than your average grocery store food/litter/accoutrements but you get what you pay for! I come here every time I need something for Miss Priss Furaloons, even though the Broadway location is closer to my apartment. This store is slightly more spacious and the employees have always been friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help. When I got a new kitty from the shelter and didn't know anything about her, they sent me home with litter recommendations, several wet and dry food samples and a booklet of coupons. When I got Miss Priss (the other kitty and I parted due to unreconcileable differences, like her peeing on the bed in the middle of the night (while I was in it)) and she was tragically overweight and horking up hairballs on the regular, they gave me more samples of weight-control foods and a hairball treatment. If anything doesn't work out (Prissy Pants hated the smell of the hairball gel) they'll take it back, no questions asked. There are always little samples of treats to take back to your furball. Also, the dogs that are usually accompanying their owners to the store make me smile. read more

I will always have a special place in my heart for this store, because the pet shop that was here before Mudbay had a Purrfect Pals cat in a cage in back.. and I took her home, and I was only 19, and she was my first cat, and it was love at first sight! She was the best pet ever. But anyway, back to Mud Bay, the store that is there now, they have been really great about helping. I had a four year old Bengal going through issues, and they tried to help me get to the bottom of it (it turned out that she was really sick, and the doctors even missed it. Cancer, heart murmur, or FIP, we don't know). They also are really nice about returns. If I bring home a 10-20 dollar toy and my cat doesn't show interest in it, they let me return it. Same goes for the food. And they are knowledgeable about the food. I came in there with my new bengal and said "I need something similar to ians for dry and friskies for wet!" and they suggested candae and wellness samples. I've switched her over from friskies to diff mud bay wet foods without too much trouble, but the dry has been more difficult (she picks out the Friskies first and ignores the others if she can..) but the store has always been good to me. Nice workers, good location, and they seem to research all their foods carefully, making sure to get rid of brands that they don't support, or aren't as healthy (although I'm not sure why they don't carry Newmans wet food..) The only thing I can even think of, is that I wish they had a larger supply of cat toys, but that's just because my last cat and this one are bengals, and bengals love exercise and playing. I've bought every toy there and more (esp all the wand toys.) Also, I think it would be nice if they would sell purrfect pal cats like the pet shop that was there before did. Sometimes people stroll in and fall in love with a cute furry face, and it doesn't happen like that in shelters, because the people there are already looking for a pet. Finding one unexpectedly as you're window shopping around Broadway... well, it would help more animals find homes, and give more people life long companions. Also, the previous store had some birds and fish and other stuff. I think it's nice when a pet store has animals in it. I've been a customer at Mud Bay for many years. The products are expensive but healthy and the store staff is very helpful. I'm recovering from shoulder surgery and can't lift anything so I placed a large cat food and kitty litter order. I requested that the delivery driver call or text first. I wanted to be home so he could bring the food and cat litter to my condo. I was assured that this would happen. Then I received an email that my order was ready to pick up. I had to call to correct that error. Finally, yesterday I found the order dumped off in my building forum with no notice. I can't feed my cats until I can find an able-bodied person to carry the items to my condo. Mud Bay plans to end the delivery service to avoid paying higher pay imposed by a new local law. Learning that Mud Bay opposes paying more to gig drivers makes me want to shop elsewhere! Keep the delivery service but charge for it. Done properly, this would be a great source of revenue. Town & Country charges $10 to deliver and so could you. I want Mud Bay to succeed but it is acting like it has been taken over by a hedge-fund company! read more

Mud Bay is a really cool local pet store in the Seattle region. There are quite a few locations in the Seattle region and this one is one of my favorite spots. It is located right off Broadway in Capitol Hill. This store is smaller than the other Mud Bay stores but it is still well stocked. I come here for cat foods, like the Weruva brands. They also have this policy for cat and dog canned food, buy 12, get 5% off your total. The staff here are nice and if you have any questions about food or medical conditions they are more than happy to help. They are also rather generous with samples in case you are unsure what to feed your pet. There are also small snack bags of snacks for cats and dogs up front. read more

Not the closest of walks if I need to grab a 20+ lb bag of premium dog food for the pooch -- but totally doable by bus and worth it. My dog has a sensitive tummy, kidney issues, and just "old man" syndrome so I have to be particular about what I feed him. I feel good with almost every offering here at Mud Bay. The staff are always so super friendly -- giving my dog treats and cuddles and me any advice if I happen to need it. It can get a little cramped in here since this location is a wee bit small -- but everyone and their animals are always sweet here. I may have tried all of their wet foods and Charlotte won't touch a one. It turns out I have a picky cat who doesn't know what's good for her--so I buy cheap-ass Friskies at QFC. However, I keep coming back to Mud Bay because Charlotte loves their treats--especially the Cat-man-doo bonito flakes and Wildside freeze-dried salmon (they look like what I imagine a salmon-flavored marshmallow in Lucky Charms might). They've got a nice selection of toys that keep us both occupied for hours on end. They've also got a great exchange policy--so if your pet doesn't like their new food you can try something else. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. I've been to their location on Pine too and had consistently good experiences at both. On top of the fab food and treat and natural pet care items here, the staff is super sweet and welcomes my tiny chihuahua like a king. They take the time to talk to you about what you need and want for your pet, and are generous with food samples if you want to try something out. I came in this weekend to look for some holiday gifts for a few dog lovers on my list and also scope the place out for things for my own pup. Everyone raves about Mud Bay, so I was a little surprised at how small the selection was, and I didn't have the same magical doggy experience that other yelpers are reporting. The best thing about this place is the bulk dog biscuits. $3/pound? Don't mind if I do! The one big downside is that the containers holding the biscuits are not covered/sealed, so it's safe to assume that they're stale. My pup wasn't too into them, so I don't think I'll be buying more despite the price and the appeal of limited ingredients/locally made. My real issue is with the staff-- one employee was super sweet and helped me find some chews I was looking for, but when I had a question about if I could mix different flavors of bulk biscuits in one bag, the girl at the register was pretty rude about "being with another customer, so just WAIT." Whoa, lady. No need to get up in my face over a question that could be solved with, I don't know, a sign by the dog biscuits, or about 2 seconds of your time? There's good customer service (focusing on one customer at a time) and then there's being rude. Maybe she had a case of the holiday grumpies, or ate too much turkey, or was tired of selling premium dog food to yuppies. Either way, her attitude was kind of a turnoff and I doubt I'll be back to this location. read more

I love stopping by this pet store! The people who work there are super pleasant and clearly love animals! I've always received plenty of advice and help with what to buy, whether it's food or toys, and their selection of cat food and toys is extensive. Last time I was there, they gave me treat samples so I could figure out what my very picky would like, and sure enough we found the right one. However, some of the small cat toys that they sell fall apart dangerously easily (after one day of play) and have small strings and other pieces that could easily have been swallowed had I not noticed it. read more

Yes, a fan indeed. My kitty is really picky and when I first got her, she didn't eat wet food. I explained this to one of the employees at Mudbay and they were so gracious as to offer me some tips and even explain their policy of giving three free trials of food for pets! Finally, using one of my three FREE trials, and the advice of one of the employees, I found some wet food that my cat eats! They don't have already grown cat grass and they're a little on the pricey side. I wanted Wellness cat good and thought Mudbay would be the right place, but Petco also sells that brand for a couple of bucks cheaper. Same with toys. The service is what makes it worth it. The store is full of unique goods! I went to the store to get remedy water, which is herbal essences for animal anxiety and aggression. I and my bf tried to find the retail stores online, and we found out that major pet goods store don't carry it. However, the mud bay which is only 15mins away from my home had one! Yay! for mud bay! If you were looking for ordinary pet goods, this really is not the place you would go. Their stuff is pretty different from those major discounted pet stores. They have good stuff, good stuff for animals. I also got herbal spray for animal aggression and it seems to be working. Plus, The store people told me that I can bring it back to the store for a refund if it didn't work, even after I used a lot of it. How nice!! Pretty good selection for cat stuff. Sometimes I find myself disappointed in their lack of variety, but I can usually find what I need for my spoiled little princess (he's a boy, but he's still a princess). The staff is usually friendly and I like the treat samples, especially since they started putting out a variety of flavors (my little butt head cat won't eat anything that tastes or smells like fish). Overall, this has been one of the easiest places in the city for me to find natural/healthy cat food that doesn't have other dead cats in it. Plus it is within walking distance of my apartment. I was transitioning my dog off of a Trader Joe's brand, the saleswoman took the time to look up my current dog foods nutrition and find a similar product with the same fat, etc. so my pup wouldn't get sick. I love bringing my dog in there, they always play with her and give her treats :) Also, really digging their raw food products. Scott, my cat, would rate this place with five stars if he could speak and read enough English to do so. I come here every two weeks to buy him the bonita flakes. He still prefers the cheaper, fatty, grocery store food, which I oblige him with, but giving him the flakes ensures that he is getting some sort of nutrients into his body. Also, I was able to teach him to do some tricks for these treats, which is swell. I keep his treats by my bed, which is a mistake because he pushes it across my floor at all hours of the night. My local Mud Bay is the coolest one I've been to. Based in Olympia, there are 13 locations around the area.They have an almanac that's full of info about your pets. Sophie and Otis love Mud Bay products! They both got their harnesses and leashes here (yes, you can walk cats - with practice), they love the treats, and they got a neat little corner-scratcher which they never even looked at. I always have great service here - they're good about returns, too. I can't imagine ever shopping at PetCo again! read more

I had decided to switch my cat to a high protein food this month and waited until she was completely out of her old food to head over to mud bay. The thing is, I should've gone a week before so that I'd have enough old food to properly wean her off of the old stuff. A worker there was so helpful and provided his own advice, in addition to a info pamphlet on switching food, AND sample packs of her old stuff so I wouldn't have to buy another whole bag of food! This Mud Bay is awesome. The staff here are incredibly friendly and knowledgable. My Chow Chow had weepy eyes, and one of the male staff grabbed eye cleansing wipes for me to wipe my puppy's eyes. I was simply blown away at how caring the staff was. Whenever my dog has not liked a product, Mud Bay asks no questions and provides me with a full refund or store credit. I come into this location pretty often, but today's experience was the best so far. I recently adopted my first cat, he's 8 and very stubborn so finding the perfect food has been a challenge. Previous times I've come in customer service has just been so-so. They give free samples which is great but I've had lots of questions and the employees seemed a little aloof, although today Margret helped me and I was blown away by her knowledge and how much time she took to explain and figure out what my cats needs were, she herself has them and that may be what made her so helpful but you can definitely tell she knows her stuff and loves her job.
