I love Mud Bay. The employees at this location clearly enjoy their jobs and love pets. Coming here is always a treat because there are frequently new things to discover and pets are welcome. It's fun to walk in and be greeted by a smiling pup. Mud Bay has some of my favorite raw food brands and they have a great selection of options. My furbabies have become picky eaters so options are very important. In addition, the brands available appear to have been researched to ensure healthy choices are provided. Also, if you buy sample a food and your pets completely reject it, it can be returned. I rarely leave Mud Bay without picking up a new toy for my kids. Being in the customer service industry, I would have never thought that I would have the experience I would at mudbay in belltown. Jordan was incredible. I called to see if they had a backpack in a size small and he went above and beyond to help me. They didn't have the size I wanted so he called all the stores and when none of the mudbays close; had them, he went called all the stores 30+ miles from here to see if he could get the one I needed. I refuse to shop at any other pup store now based on my experience with Jordan. What a delight to work with. Even though our dog passed a year after we moved here, he loved Mud Bay food. It made our dog very happy. The staff is always SUPER friendly at this location and willing to help in any way that they can. They are very thoroughly trained and I highly appreciate their knowledge and passion for animals. All of them are dog owners and they love, love animals. They encourage you to bring your little one in to see them! :) With our current dog, we are looking for a food that He likes, and the staff is so gracious and patient with us as we are having to make exchanges, etc. They have given us no problem. Our former dog loved fish, but the current one hates it. We are now trying the AvoDerm dog food brand which has lots of nutrients including avocado for skin and coat health. We will see how he likes it! ;) Mudbay had a GREAT selection of food for cats and dogs including clothes, carriers, leashes, and snacks. The lamb lung snack is a MUST TRY! Our dog loves them and most dogs do and it's so affordable! I know, it doesn't sound appealing to humans, but the dogs love it! When you buy a product from Mudbay, you know you are getting quality as they have established standards for the stuff they sale. Recently moved to Seattle and we were on one of our evening walks. The huge glass displays of Mud Bay enticed us to walk in and check it out. I literally felt like a kid in Disneyland. Compared to industrial scale Petcos and PetSmarts, and Mud Bay is much smaller. However the products in here are top quality. Fun little toys and great dry food variety. And guess what. Stopped by during a bar crawl to pick up a few items for my animals before I headed home! It's been a while since I stepped into a "boutique" pet store instead of PetSmart and I gotta say... feels kind of bougie. In a good way though! I was able to pick up lots of cool treats for my cats (bonito flakes and dried shrimp) and treats for my dog (handmade biscuits, lamb lung, and bones). The total came out to be what I expected, a tad pricey but the look on my pets faces were definitely worth it! I recommend the bonito flakes for cats and definitely the lamb lung for dogs! When I first moved to downtown Seattle I bemoaned the fact that there wasn't a Petsmart nearby. I saw Mud Bay and wrote it off as a bougie pet store that wouldn't have great selection or be anything I'd care to support. However, I've completely changed my mind about this place and love that there are multiple mud bay locations throughout Seattle. It's super cozy and welcoming inside and many locals bring their pets here with them while shopping. When I got my second kitty I brought him there and he got to interact with two other kitties (also on leashes!). He's a hybrid cat so the folks there were really helpful with recommending a raw cat food. We now stop by once every two weeks to pick up his raw food. We've purchased several cat toys from here as well and both my kitties have loved all of them. Another cool perk is that they let you try new cat foods/flavors for free! One of the employees there does photography on the side and he does cute (and free) holiday/seasonal photo shoots for pets and their owners. A lot of times they also give out little baggies with samples of cat or dog treats. This is just a lovely place to shop in general. Yay! read more

A lovely stop for your four-legged friend! This boutique- like store offers a variety of pet products! The store was so nice and clean on the inside and tastefully decorated. The associates were very cordial and helpful as well! The prices reasonable in my opinion. Honestly, I almost prefer this to the chains because they had some different items such as a light - up frisbee, and this beautiful revetsible coat that we got for our dog. The coat cost a bit but it was excellent and of great quality! Another plus is that they had these awesome socks that seemed to have been dipped in robber on the feet; perfect for when our little one is out in the snow (it has been very hard to find snow shoes/socks that will stay on his feet when we go for walks). I am super impressed with this pet store! I just moved into the neighborhood with my 3 cats and needed cat litter and food. I came here and was delighted this store carried top of the line, speciality pet products. I am a research fiend and I usually order all my supplies from Chewy or Amazon and I make sure to buy the 5-star reviewed products. I was super impressed this store carried the high quality grain food that I usually use for my cats (Orijen and Stella and Chewy)! You will definitely not find the run of the mill friskies, fancy feast or any foods containing corn or animal by products here. The higher quality pet foods definitely cost way more but the prices at this store were competitive with online prices! The only disappointing thing is this store didn't sell normal run of the mill cat litters either like Tidy cats, Fresh step, or my litter, Arm and Hammer Clump and Seal. They only carry "natural" clay based litters and plant based litters which in my opinion do not work as well for odor control. read more

Good lord I love this place. They have a great selection of local dog foods and treats and a friendly and helpful staff that are great with the animals. One thing that really earned my support was one instance when I accidentally selected the wrong bag of dog food. As a first time dog-owner, I mistakenly bought puppy chow for large-sized breeds for my pup, who is definitely considered a smaller-sized breed. I used it for a couple of days, but after consulting with my vet, I decided that I should switch to the chow intended for the small-sized breeds. Originally, I intended to just take the loss since it was my mistake in the first place, but I also didn't want the first bag of dog food to go to waste. When I brought this up to one of the staff members working at Mud Bay, they told me that they would be happy to take back the opened dog food, donate it to a shelter, and allow me to exchange it for the bag I wanted, at no cost. I was seriously impressed with their gesture, not only because of the (effectively) free bag of dog food they netted me, but also due to the fact that they donate returned products to help local shelters. I think the way they run their business is amazing and I've been a loyal customer since. I would say their selection of dog toys could be better - a lot of them are rehashed copies of each other in different skins. I'd love to see a larger variety of types of toys so that my dog can engage them in different ways. read more

The lady that was helping me was extremely helpful - she showed me recommended supplies and she even gave me some dry cat food samples since I was not sure what my new cat liked. I had a lot of questions for her since I had never owned a cat before, and she was super super friendly and helpful. There is a pretty good selection of items here - beds, food, bowls, treats, collars, leashes, etc. The prices can't beat Amazon's (for example the Furminator brush was $50 at Mud Bay, while it was about half on Amazon) - but if you need excellent service and supplies ASAP, Mud Bay is totally the spot for it! She even helped me lug the stuff to the car. I am super pleased with this store and plan on returning for some more pet supplies. read more

The staff was really friendly and very helpful and informative. We left with a dog bed we liked, a new toy, training treats, and the wonder walker. The staff helped fit the harness, which was great so we didn't have to guess if we were getting the correct size or not. They also helped us with suggestions on other treats besides bully sticks and rawhide which our puppy was throwing up. It's not the closest pet store to us but it's the one the boys enjoy visiting the most. The staff are always friendly and you get the impression they love meeting everyone's pets, they always ask questions and are genuinely interested in hearing about them. They offered us sound advice in the past and even let us know that if the thunder shirts didn't work out the way we wanted we could return them. I hate feeling pressured into a sale or being hounded (excuse the pun) by sales staff, I've never felt uncomfortable in a Mudbay store before wether I'm spending over $100 or just buying some poop bags, you get the same great service either way and that's why we keep coming back. They also do cool photos shoots for the pets during different times of the year and have the pictures in the store. Both of our boys were adopted from shelters and this year we noticed that there were Xmas trees in the store with suggestions for items you could purchase and have donated to local shelter pets. My husband went a little OTT and bought everything on the list for Ralph, reminded him of one of our boys. I think it's cool that they have things like that in the store to make it easy for people to help shelter pets. Keep up the good work guys, it's noticed and appreciated. read more

I often find with city pet places I see many things I would love to purchase and spoil my pets with, but everything is so expensive. Not so with Mud Bay-prices are very reasonable. My dogs love the Merrick brand food and there is a great selection here! We found Burgers & Fries, Working Dog Stew, French Country Cafe, and Fish & Chips to name a few. Be sure to check the "dented-but-still-good" selection by the register-cans are slightly discounted. If you have a dog that destroys toys within .14729 seconds, then I highly recommend the Hurley brand. Our Lhasa loves the Hurley Zumi toy and it really is indestructible! (They offer a money-back guarantee.) The biggest reason to visit Mud Bay is for a very special treat. I'm not even sure I should...well, okay, only because it's Yelp I'll tell you. Look for the Himalayan yak milk treat. They are often sold out and here's why: your dog will absolutely love this amazing treat! And it will keep them busy! So if they have it, buy it. The folks who are now Essential Workers at Belltown Mud Bay go above and BEYOND excellent customer service! I showed up to purchase extra treats for my two kitty-boys and arrived 15 minutes after their closing time. Aiden, saw me at the door and ran outside calling to me to come back. She asked me if I had enough food for my kitties for the evening and offered to give me some and I could pay them the next day. Are you kidding me?! I was blown away. I told her that I had enough food and was just going to buy extra treats, which she offered to me as well. I had enough of everything at home, so I declined her generosity. I wanted to add that I had a terrible day, this particular day and had been treated with hostility out and about, while running errands. To have this terrible day end with such kindness from Aiden, really turned my bad day into a good day. This particular Mud Bay location is known for creating and sustaining a Community that includes customers. I so appreciate it in these often very isolating and sad times. I don't know how I've gone this long without a review for this place. While living in Seattle our dogs got use to the treats that Mud Bay carries, and we'd walk in every 2-3 weeks or so to stock up. Yes, my dogs are exceptionally spoiled. Anyway, we grew fond of this location because it was in our 'hood and the staff was always friendly. We moved to Austin and had trouble finding treats that our fickle pups enjoyed. So on a vacation trip back to Seattle, I was tasked with lugging back lbs (and I mean lbs) of treats in my suitcase. I was lucky enough to have Mike, the manager of Mud Bay Belltown, check me out and listen to my sad tale of woe. He offered to ship treats each month to us in Austin and so began our monthly treat program. Like clockwork a priority mail package would arrive each month and my pups would go crazy sniffing and pawing at the box. They knew what was inside. The quality of the treats are fantastic (my girl dog loves the grain free cheesy ones the best) and the price can't be beat. But what makes this place exceptional is Mike and his staff. He went above and beyond to keep customers from as far away as Austin Texas happy. Thank you so much Mike. Mud bay is probably the best pet store in the bell town area. It offers a select variety of pet foods, dry and canned, as well as snacks, pet toys, pet beds, litter boxes, and lots of other random nit nacs. They need to look into becoming a "Life's Abundance" food distributor, as that's my favorite organic pet food. But besides that, they have a bit of everything. They don't have any "commercial brands" from petco or pets mart, but they do give a medium for the specialty foods and litters. Overall couldn't ask for a better pet store. read more

I love this store and since I got a new puppy I have been here just about every day now. I started coming when I had a cat only. I was a regular at Belltown Feed and Seed but it was closing and their inventory no longer included my cats food. They referred me to MudBay. Although I thought the food I was buying was good quality, my older cat had gas (tmi?) and I needed to fix the problem. They staff took the time to help me find a solution which turned out to be switching to raw food as he wasn't getting enough water/moisture in his food and too much fiber. Problem solved! After I got my puppy last week I had to come down for food, leash, toys, treats, eye wipes, poop bags, carpet cleaner, and a plug in diffuser to calm my cat (had no idea they made such a product). Besides the GREAT hours at this store, the amazing friendly stuff, I love that you can try and item and return it - even without a receipt. The staff here is super knowledgeable and give you a few free samples if you are not sure if your pet will eat their new food. One of my cats has a very special diet, and it was great going here cause they had tons of samples and recommendations.
