I would strongly advise against taking your pet to this place. They completely mishandled my dog's grooming and showed a shocking lack of care and professionalism. I paid $160, and all they did was shave her entire body, completely ignoring the specific instructions I gave them -- including showing them a reference photo of the haircut I wanted (added all references below) They called me during the appointment to say her hair was matted in some areas and they'd need to shave those parts. But instead, they shaved everything, leaving only parts of her tail untouched, which now looks completely uneven and unfinished. She looks so bad. I brought them a Shih Tzu and they returned her looking like a poodle. It's honestly heartbreaking and infuriating. For the price I paid, I expected professionalism, not a rushed and thoughtless buzz cut. Save yourself the disappointment (and your dog the trauma) -- find a groomer who actually listens and cares. read more

They do my guy's nails and do them well. I also appreciate the (relatively 8 am) appointments.

I took my double coated dogs to be groomed with specific instructions that I wanted a bath and blowout using shampoo/conditioner I provided due to my female dog breaking out in hives from other shampoos/conditioners and being itchy (which they said wouldn't be an issue) with NO deshedding tools to be used as they will destroy a double coated dog no matter the manner used. The only item I wanted used was a slicker brush to brush them out after the bath and blowout. When I picked up my female dog her coat was destroyed. It was very obvious they ignored my instructions completely. I waited until I was able to bathe her myself to compare the two experiences. 1) when I picked her up from the grooming place she smelled like the standard shampoo and conditioner groomers used after I groomed them they barely smelled as I don't use products with heavy fragrances due to my dogs sensitivity as well as mine 2) her entire top coat was sheared off from them using deshed tools, it normally sticks out about and inch and it was all gone. My dog has sensitive skin and for the last three months since immediately after she has been itchy, I was chalking it up to environment gave her meds etc but as soon as I bathed her zero itching. When booking they said it wouldn't be a problem to use the products I provided. The shampoo I brought was a concentrate and it was untouched when they gave it back to me (i.e. weighed the exact same as before). After this last bath I gave her, it is obvious the difference. Her top coat is still growing back but she is clean, not itching and her coat is starting to look healthy again. Thankfully I confronted the groomer after my female dog so she wasn't able to destroy my male dogs coat either. I didn't ask for anything challenging, a bath, blowout and brush using a slicker brush and they were unable to do it, which is literally the easiest thing to do. Would not recommend this place if you have a double coated dog as they will destroy the dogs coat and do the opposite of what you request. It's been three months and her coat is still recovering. Thankfully nothing they did is beyond repair but will never bring them back again. read more

Love Nash's hair cut! Aydan listened well to what we asked for. My pup had a lot of mats due to his cone of shame after getting fixed. So we knew he would need to be cut all the way down. We wanted to keep his Mohawk we had given him to make sure he had a unique style! The groomer did great! The only reason I am putting 5 stars is that online the pricing said the cut was less than it actually was. Too much drama. I asked for the owner's contact info so I could share how I was repeatedly disrespected by one of the groomers there. But I told I was no longer welcome there, and that all future appointments would be canceled. This, because the groomer was late (I didn't complain), rude to me about my dog not being on a leash (I carried him in like I always have), and taking further nasty tone with me at pickup time. Today was the first time I brought my very skittish dog in for a nail trim. It's usually a nightmare and he's stressed and I'm stressed... today was so different. April came out very positive and let Tinker choose how to meet her. She brought him back out in about 10 mins, and his nails were nice and short and he wasn't traumatized! Let me just keep this semi-short. We took our dog, Otis, to groomed at Earthwise in which had been our go to groomers, until this point. It had been a long time since we got Otis groomed so when we booked an appointment here we basically got him shaved down. Everything was perfect until a couple days ago when I noticed Otis would like at his genitals, so out of my curiosity I was wondering what it was. It turns out that there was a small irritated slit at the tip of his genital. First thing I thought was, "He hasn't had a haircut in months, no necessary doctor visits, this had to happen when they were shaving him down." So very politely, my friend had reached out to Earthwise regarding this issue. Me knowing ALREADY that they'll deny any accidents happening, they suggested to get him looked at and also offered a cone for his head so he doesn't constantly lick at the slit. (Btw, it turned into a scab) Although it was a kind gesture, it still didn't make up for the incident that they "didn't" do. Now this was something I did not want to let go of because they did not want to be held responsible for accidentally cutting him. Mind you, if all they did was let us know then this would have been no issue, but they decided to carry on as if nothing happened. We replied back in the most polite way as we could without being furious for a partial refund, or even just a free grooming when needed, but they denied due to the agreement that was signed. Okay, understandable. What I don't understand is the next response: "Although we adore Otis and have enjoyed taking care of his grooming needs, after reviewing your history with us, it seems we would not be the best fit for him moving forward." So tell me, why is it that Otis wouldn't be the best fit? Is it because I brought this issue up and Earthwise does not wanna at least OWN up to it? Out of all the times we have taken Otis here, it has been NOTHING but GREAT feedback on how he was during grooming. I loved Earthwise, but they aren't honest people. So be careful. read more

Super-aggressive marketing. I keep getting SMS/text ads from them. I don't know how; I never gave them my number. They don't even say who it is ... I had to ask. These are the folks that bought Petapalooza, though you'd never know it from their website. Guess the EarthWise company saw no reason to let confused customers know that this location was once a different pet store? It's not like they'd be helping a competitor. When I politely asked to unsubscribe, I got no response. Just more SMS ads. So I blocked them. Not a good look. Anyway, maybe they're a great company otherwise. I dunno. All staff are so friendly. Local small pet store, so they are a bit pricier, but I like to purchase as much as we can from them. We've worked with two groomers only. Our first groomer was wonderful but she moved away. Michelle is our current groomer and she is fantastic! Michelle is super caring and respectful of our dog anxiety levels. 2/5/22 UPDATE to owner's response on Google on 2/1/22: I now know this store is UNPROFESSIONAL, DISHONEST, and INTENTIONALLY OVERCHARGED us both visits. This store charged us for haircuts BOTH times we have visited, despite the groomers giving "trim and tidy" services, as confirmed by the owner on Google. I have asked for a refund for the difference in prices, which I am sure I won't receive since this store deceives people into paying for services that were not delivered. I asked for a refund originally since they chopped half of my dog's tail off without my permission and injured her by shaving despite me specifying them not to shave her. My concerns were dismissed and no remorse was shown by the staff. To further our horror, we also found another injury to the flesh of her tail that measured 3 inches in length (see photos). She was obviously BLEEDING from this visit. There is a ton of granulation (healing) tissue. Original Review: We had a truly horrible grooming experience with our Samoyed dog. We will never visit again. Groomer did an incomplete job at simple parts, and the manager (Courtney) I spoke to over the phone was NOT understanding, empathetic, apologetic, or willing to refund/credit for a service that we were unhappy with. It was discussed that we wanted a full wash and brush, no shaving off the underside, and trimming for her paws. We never mentioned the tail, but never have had to mention to NOT trim the tail at any other groomer we have been to (San Francisco, Los Angeles, or other Seattle groomers). At no point did the groomers call to ask about the tail prior to clipping it down by more than HALF. Paw pads were not fully trimmed. Legs were left with uneven tufts of fur. Her ears were trimmed even though we did not ask for it, and came out uneven. She was shaved and injured in the underside. The tail was cut by AT LEAST HALF the length, and it was not just tidying up "under the tail" near the private parts. Groomers should know that Samoyed tail long hair does not grow back readily. Our Samoyed is almost 8 years old and will likely not grow the tail back to her former length since she is not a puppy. We are very disappointed and upset by our experience. We came here several times and had many positive experiences. They made some small mistakes a couple of times that I pointed out and I think I upset someone because one day they called and I was told they had black mold and had to shut down the location. They canceled all my future appointments. However two weeks later I found out from a friend that her dog was still being groomed there. I called many times trying to talk to the owner but he never returned my calls. Then I was told that they would not take my dog back because I was rude to the groomer which I never was. What was most frustrating is that the manager LIED ABOUT BLACK MOLD or maybe it wasn't a lie and they are operating with the mold, who knows! I also never understand why the owner of a business wouldn't want to talk to an unhappy customer. this business is engaging in unethical practices, namely bait-and-switch pricing. this is illegal and I plan to file a complaint with the BBB. I booked an "itty bitty bath" which i've brought my 9lb short haired chihuahua mix in for twice previously. i'm attaching a screen shot of the confirmation I received earlier today. we dropped of our dog, everything was copacetic, but when we came to pick him up and pay, we were informed that actually this bath (which i booked AGES ago) costs 25% more than what i agreed to at the time of booking (and paid a deposit towards). I mentioned this to the person checking us out...at time of booking, the service was advertised at $30 and I paid a $25 deposit towards that fee. without notice, and AFTER the service had been rendered, I was told it was now a $40 wash, because the "itty bitty bath" service no longer exists. I asked why we couldn't be grandfathered in since the appointment was made before the policy change & we were never notified of the change. the staff said there was nothing they could do. this is AFTER the service was rendered, no one mentioned this when we dropped him off. i'm appalled. we've always been happy with the service here & the staff (especially Ryanne) are a joy, but I can't justify giving my business to a company with these kinds of ethics. to bait and switch a customer is unconscionable. and to the owner: to make these kinds of unethical decisions & then force your STAFF to be the bearer of bad news? that's messed up, truly so messed up. Staff and Groomers are so friendly. We've booked out our golden doodle every 5 weeks until November to maintain and it's been an amazing experience. You still have to do your brushing every couple days during the week, but that comes with owning a golden doodle. Groomers are so gentle and communicate with you during the appointment. It always makes me nervous sending my dog to a new place to get groomed. I moved to Seattle a few months ago and had already been on the search for a grooming place for my dog. After reading tons of reviews of other places in Seattle, I feel that this place had the best reviews and it's not too far from where I live. I called Petapoluza and was able to set up an appointment within 3 weeks. When I arrived, they were super friendly and I loved store. I really enjoyed how they had toys, treats, and clothing for dogs, as well as food too. When we dropped off our dog, we were informed that she would be done no more than 3 hours. They also informed us that they would contact us in 3 hours. We thought that sounded fine and we left and wandered the area. I never received a phone call after 3 hours, so we figured we would head back to Petapoluza since it had been more than 3 hours. When we arrived, they said that it would actually still be another 20 minutes and that they would give us a phone call. We went next door to some bar and waited at least 30 minutes and went back since we never received a phone call. When we went back to the store, they told us that our dog was ready. Obviously my main gripe is that when you tell someone that your dog will be done at a specific time limit, I expect a phone call. I would expect a phone call at the 3 hour mark to either let us know our dog is done or that it will take a little longer. Luckily, we were super happy with the haircut and I would bring our dog back here for that reason. As for their communication, they were definitely lacking in that. read more

Have been taking my dog there consistently for grooming just fine until my LAST VISIT. They overcharged me by $40 and said it was due to increase of price. I reach out again to management, and they mention that my dog was scratching and biting them and that's why I was charged for that. FUNNY THING IS, when I asked how she was doing during the groom, the groomer said she was doing great and the cashier said the same thing when I came to pick up. Also, they never completed the groom, she had leftover eye crust near her eyes still upon pickup and patches of long hair on her belly. This place is going downhill and I can't even get ahold of the owner to figure out why this sudden change is happening to what was once a great grooming spot. This business has started engaging in some shady practices and I would strongly urge you to read some of their recent reviews. We took our dog here for two years and had a great experience until the ownership change. After this change, we started getting charged extra without any notice or warning and experiencing very rude service. After a recent over charge, I questioned them on it and thereafter, their attitude towards our dog changed. They were exceptionally rude when defending their higher charges by talking to me very slowly, as if they thought I had a hard time understanding English. The next time we had an appointment, we got a last minute cancellation saying that no groomer wanted to work with our dog. This was surprising because there wasn't a single negative comment for two years; in fact, we'd been told on occasion that we're doing everything just right for our dog's coat. They accused our dog of biting. Our dog has never once has he ever shown any inclination to bite. And again, this was hard to believe because we had a two year relationship with the business where we never received any such feedback. Then suddenly, once we questioned their charges, we started to get negative feedback about our dog. A newer groomer did eventually take our appointment after we pushed a bit but when we got there, they said they wouldn't do the full bath we had booked, just a brushing. This felt like a bait and switch after we'd made the effort to prioritize the appointment only to be told they wouldn't actually do it. Moreover, they charged $80 for the brushing and said without it, they wouldn't consider doing a bath for him in the future. Groomers are hard to find so we reluctantly agreed, but decided after never to go back there again. read more

I had gone to get two of my pets groomed here twice before and they did a great job. One of my dogs was a puppy and I hadn't realized he grew a little bigger. I still considered him a smaller dog as he was no more than 20 pounds but he had gotten very matted as his puppy hair grew and he kept rolling around in the bedsheets. They mentioned how he may have to go to the vet to get it removed since I asked for him to get shaved so I was aware of that. When I picked him up they left him half shaved, he looked terrible and they said he was a medium sized dog and had to go to the vet. I made an appointment and they told me that his matting wasn't that bad and I could probably take him to another groomer and get it done. The vet herself over at jet city animal clinic said to not bring my dog back to this groomer... so I did take him to wag n wash in Queen Anne where they left him looking so cute, shaved and left even some hair on his ears and tail. I was happy with that service but can't recommend this place according to my vet. read more

I wanted to give this place at lease 2 tried before writing a review. The first visit we had was for my dog's haircut. They switched the groomer on me when I got there and what I assumed was a newbie hardly touched my dogs fur. The second time I went there I apparently booked a "spa" appointment which does NOT include a haircut. I asked the groomer to at least groom tue necessary areas like the butt and belly and such which they were happy to do. My dog came back with a ridiculous amount of razor burns and and absurdly large shave on his belly (the shave is almost up to his armpits). To make matters more interesting, I finally found the open container turkey tendons that have been low on supply. I usually purchase them from all the best pets by the POUND. Assuming so (my mistake again), I grabbed a big handful and realized that this place charges the tendons individually (something around $1/per). What is going on. Cute shop but we were masked up and not looking to spend more time inside (even though they had their big doors open so it get very ventilated and fresh on a sunny day). I meant to write this sooner but it has been a crazy week! Anyway this is perhaps slightly less of a review of the business and more of a review of a specific employee. Saturday a week ago was one of the stranger days of my life. I was running errands in the Fremont neighborhood when I happened to hear a strange noise from my car. I pulled over and popped the hood only to discover a very frightened little kitten had tucked itself way up next to my car's engine! It was behind so much stuff I was totally unable to reach it. As this was exactly the kind of scenario I had only heard about on the news, I was totally unprepared for what to do about it. A good Samaritan who heard the kitten yowling happened to stop by to help. They mentioned there was a pet store near by and perhaps they would have an idea on what to do. I gave it a shot and wow I AM SO GLAD I CALLED EARTHWISE PET SUPPLY & GROOMING. I explained the situation to this wonderful person named Courtney, she seemed to really be concerned and was eager to help out in any way she could. She gave some tips on things to try as well as supplies. After several hours of struggling in vain to get this cat out, it was getting dark and cold and I began to really worry. I decided to call Earthwise again, basically saying I've tried everything and am out of ideas. Courtney told me the shop was closing soon and she would come by. It's hard to over state this, she was literally my HERO that day, as she more or less single-handedly was able to coax the cat out far enough to be able to grab him. I really could not believe she was able to do what even the animal control guy (who I called earlier) could not. I was also really impressed that this was a person who was willing to go so far out of her way on her own free time mind you, to help out a total stranger rescue an animal in need. I think that speaks volumes about her character. This is truly a kind person with a good heart who cares a lot about animals, and any business that employs people of this caliber has got to be special as well. I will definitely be referring anybody I know who is a pet owner to go to this place, and I highly encourage YOU dear reader, to give it your business as well. 5/5 stars read more

I really appreciated his thorough explanation of the different vendors and how to use fermented goat's milk on my dog's food. (OMG. I just realized I'm a hippie dog mom. My dog eats better than me. I have no problem spending 80.00 on my 7-pound chihuahua's food but I can't bring myself to pay for heirloom tomatoes.) I also appreciated the food samples and the willingness for them to take back food that is not working for your dog. Luckily for me, this store is super close to home - but even if it's not, you don't have to worry about parking because there's always a spot to be found at the rear of the store. read more

I have had numerous positive experiences with the store itself - this review is for the grooming side of the business and scheduling staff only. We've been coming here for grooms for the past few years and have unfortunately had a major turn in experience(s) to date that I finally had to get on here to leave a review. I don't know what has happened over the past 8 to 9 months, but their prices have jumped astronomically and with no warning. Perhaps more importantly is the fact that they have become widely overbooked. I can understand that life happens and is outside of one's control. However, if they (on repeated occasions) cannot accommodate staff turnover in a reasonably timely manner, then they are really doing their customers a disservice. I have now had two pretty similar experiences: I book several months in advance for a December groom. Staff member has something come up 2 weeks prior. I am notified that the earliest they can get me rescheduled is January, but ONLY on a Thursday morning. I work Thursdays... so we are looking at February or March. Needless to say, my conversation with the staff member today was not even remotely apologetic or indicative of an attempt to accommodate. They are overbooking and it's the customer that pays the price. I will be having to find a different groomer. Very disappointing. read more

What a disappointment. After having appointments dropped TWICE, last minute (due to "new software" and "not enough staff", I thought I had had the worst of it. But at our latest appointment, mid-grooming, I got a call that I had been undercharged in the past (at least 4 times...) and they would have to charge me almost double. MID-GROOM they called. I had no choice but to continue. If they want to increase prices, do it, but not in the middle of the appointment. I now see there are numerous reviews with experiences similar to mine. I hope future customers will read the good and the bad. What a terribly run business. read more

I had my Yorkies and Lhasa Apso dog groomed here and after spending over $250 for grooming, I was so disappointed with how little was done. I mentioned to the groomer that I wanted hair trimmed around their faces, feet, nails, and around their butts and I also mentioned to him when I booked the appointment what I wanted done. It didn't appear obvious that any of this was done. The grooming area is in the back of the store so I didn't see the sign at the counter when I paid that everything apparently beyond a bath and brushing are add ons. I felt very ripped off! I was told that Ryan, the owner would call me to discuss and left my phone number for him; however he never responded. read more

They rescheduled me twice, once I finally got my dog in for a cut, he came home patchy and still had mats behind his ears.. didn't even seem like his ears were brushed. Then tried charging me $50 more than the "starting" amount for a dog his size.
