I have a very fragile older cat that can be a bit finicky at times, .... ok more like most of the time(she is 19 years old, so I think she's earned it!) Not to mention she has quite a few medical problems that cause her a lot of discomfort and pain. One of her most serious medical problems is the extensive arthritis in her spine which makes it very hard for her groom herself. So because of this issue she's been getting pretty ripe. I've tried to clean her myself several times, but she isn't very tolerant of stuff like that these days. So, As I'm sure you can imagine because she cant do it herself and won't sit well for my rookie attempts at grooming her the situation was getting pretty dire. So I have been looking for a groomer for quite a while that can deal with her challenging issues, can keep her calm, who is relatively quick (which is part of the whole keeping her calm thing). In addition to that is compassionate and gentle and won't cause her undue amounts of pain. She is also time-consuming to groom because in addition to her medical issues she has a slightly longer hair that has seemingly unending amounts of extra hair hiding in her under coat. So yes, I was hoping for a grooming miracle. With all these issues going against her I was extremely hesitant to drop her off, in a brick and mortar groomer's shop and leave her in someone else's hands. I found Ruff Cuts through a friend who used them (and was quite pleased with them). So I was hopeful that they would be able to deal with my kitty. When I called to make an appointment, I was impressed with how compassionate the owner (Stephanie) seemed to be. She took the time to explain the process and how she would handle my little girl. After talking with her felt really comfortable with the whole situation, she clearly knows her stuff!! Stephanie came to my house, which was truly fantastic. Anytime I can save my little girl a car ride it makes her day so much easier and less painful. During the appointment Stephanie was very professional. She asked a lot of detailed questions about my little girl to really get to know her, and took detailed notes (for next time). While she was grooming her she was so great with my kitty. She seemed to really care about my kitty's experience with her. My cat is super shy and doesn't like to be handed much (unless it's myself or my husband, and then it's only on her terms). However, she aloud Stephanie to bathe and groom her with no issues. That says a lot when my kitty will let someone else handed her especially for the length of time it takes to groom her. (honestly, I'd never seen anyone do that before with her). When she was done with my kitty, she looked & smelled AMAZING!!! She was also calm and clearly felt better now that she was clean and smelling great. Stephanie clearly had "the touch". I can't say thank you enough to Stephanie and Ruff Cuts! I don't have much more time with my little girl, so it's really important to me that she is as happy as possible. Thanks guys from the bottom of my heart! You have a customer for life! read more

I noticed my Yorkie was having some serious anal glad backup and I immediately became concerned after realizing that they can get infections from unexpressed anal glands so I contacted Stephanie. RC grooms my Heeler, Laika (in the pics above). She always does a great job at making Laika feel comfortable and calm, thats hard to do with a Cattle Dog... It really does seem to help that it all happens in a place the dog is familiar with. I started having Steph groom my dog when she was still a tiny puppy and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Stephanie never fails to impress me with how well she handles my less than easy to groom chihuahuas, the older of my two especially gives me an extremely hard time for his nails (bites, screams, the whole nine) and I just do not have the patience to deal with bathing him and doing his nails. I don't know what it is but as soon as I hand him over to Stephanie he completely stops any bad behavior ! He loves her, which is saying a lot since he is mostly a mamas boy. Highly recommend. Our 16yo cat had 2 claws that were digging into her paw and she wouldn't let us deal with it.
