I called them after frantically calling vets all morning and mistakenly said "Good morning! I'm a new patient and I was wondering if you all express anal glands" to which the only response was "WELL, we're a grooming service so we don't have patients" (or whatever nonsense) accompanied by a shrill and ugly laugh. No follow up comment. Only intentional condescension. I really do have thick skin, but I just found the lack of an actual response and lack of professionalism to be egregiously pretentious. I explained to her that I had been calling around all morning and excused myself for the slip of the tongue, I thanked her for her condescension and said goodbye. Take of this information what you will, but in my experience when a 15 second interaction (the fist 15, mind you) is all it takes for a potential client to take valuable time out of their morning (it's 9:22am) to leave you a 1-star review on yelp, you are a rinky dink business with rinky dink "adults" masquerading as professionals. In my experience, when a human's first instinct is fully and intentionally be condescending you while ignoring your polite request it doesn't bode well. I didn't write this review because I was offended by the immediate condescension to the first thing I said (an obvious and understandable slip of the tongue), but more so to let folks know my experience. Within 15 seconds I was left with ZERO confidence that they would care for my dog correctly and professionally. It's so hard to find good care for my dog, and I don't trust her with just anyone, and was reminded this morning that the industry is riddled with unprofessional amateurs. In this case, and my estimation, a self-absorbed novice. Take heed of the other 1 star reviews on here and they'll paint a clear picture of the person you'll be entrusting to care for your special loved one. (By the looks of it she's inexperienced and entitled at best, and ducks accountability where she can) P.S. if you've ever had pet care outside of Seattle you'll realize how subpar services are in Seattle. Like I get it, it's a paid service, but making everything so transactional is bad business and frankly unprofessional. read more

We went to Amy for our 15-week old Bernedoodle puppy's first grooming experience. Positives: Amy obviously has a way with animals; Charlie came back from the session with his tail wagging, and he tried to run after Amy when she left! He smells amazing and his body hair looks great. She obviously made him feel comfortable. As you'd expect with mobile grooming, it was super convenient. She was also very communicative and helped us reschedule our appointment when our plans changed. The downside: We asked for very minimal trimming on his face, just enough so we could see his eyes again, and we lost a lot more fluff than we would've liked and are not a fan of his "haircut". All of his eyebrows are gone, and the blending around the face looks rough. I am sure this had a lot to do with him being a wiggly puppy, but we would've strongly preferred not to have this much hair removed in the first place, especially if the end result was going to be jagged. On top of this, I've found a lot of little snarls in his coat immediately post-groom, which is a little frustrating: we've been brushing him daily to prevent this, and his puppy fur hasn't been prone to tangling prior to this. Again, it's very possible he was getting too overstimulated for Amy to continue with brushing, but it would've been nice for her to tell us this. Overall, I think Amy is great for puppies and likely most dogs without a doodle coat, but I think we'll be going elsewhere for follow up visits. read more

I cannot say enough good things about House & Hound and especially our amazing groomer, Sarah! My dog Suki is very shy and usually nervous around new people, but Sarah was so gentle, kind, and patient with her. Sarah not only won Suki over, but she won me over too with her professionalism, warmth, and incredible attention to detail. Suki came out looking and feeling fantastic -- this was hands down the best grooming we've ever received from a mobile service. The Grooming Package was thorough and clearly done with love and care. Disappointed to say the least. I told her I loved his ears and didn't want his muzzle to stand out. Not only did I send her a picture of what he looks like freshly groomed, I showed her again when she got here. She still cut all the fringe off his ears and did not give him the rounded face. Now it will take months to grow back so he can be cut correctly. Really going to miss his butterfly ears. He's almost 15. Hope he lives long enough to get his beautiful coat again. Almost $200 and all she said was he was difficult. He has no issues at the salon. PETCO could have done a better job for 1/2 the price. read more

The House and Hound team have been grooming my little Lewis for the last few months, and he has never been cleaner or happier! He runs to greet them at the door when they arrive, and always comes back into the house smelling amazing and looking great. Beyond that, they are always flexible with my crazy schedule and arrive on time with a smile. Our pup has never looked this amazing after a grooming appointment (seriously)! Although we got started a bit after the scheduled time, considering things like traffic and the lack of parking downtown, the delay was not terrible. Amy took such good care of our pup -I'm impressed with her look because my husband and I didn't have a vision per se, but Amy fulfilled our fluffy pup dreams! She took her time with Bella's mats and shaved the ones in sensitive areas to keep her comfortable and healthy, while maintaining her aesthetic. Although the services can be a bit pricey with timing and such, I know my pup benefitted from being the only dog in the van as she can get riled up from wanting to play. I would highly recommend this for pets that are like that or are just generally anxious about grooming. TLDR: I'm super happy with my pup's look, and would recommend Amy! read more

i first heard about Amy's service in our apartment's advertisement board, after contacting her, it really sparked my interest as I live in downtown seattle and going to any grooming services takes 40 mins back and forth, which is difficult during work hours/days. Amy's van is able to travel to downtown Seattle and parked at a location convenient to me, this had helped us a lot and worth the price. My puppy had a not so good experience grooming at a national retail pet shop so he has been afraid of going back there. Amy's van provides a safe space and 1:1 services that makes him feel comfortable and confident (and handsome too). First time grooms for our 6 yr old golden and 2 yr old corgi, and it couldn't have gone better. Amy found a flat space for her mighty grooming van at a nearby school because our cul de sac is too sloped. My pups met her and then I walked our golden over. This pup can be anxious and had some sap and mats to remove from her coat. I helped Amy put her in the tub and left for a while. Amy likes a natural look on Goldens, and I agree. Pup's legs were tidied but still feathered, fancy pants shaped, coat deshedded, and tail dematted. She's sooo soft now. Our corgi needed much less in the way of mat removal, but he got his toenails Dremmeled, booty shaped and he smells great! read more

It pains me to write a bad review for a small woman owned business but this is my third not so great experience with House and Hound. The first booking the groomer texted me well after my appointment time that she would be an hour late and showed up 4 hours late because she was with another client. Um. Seems pretty disorganized but ok. Second time grooming was ok although groomer initially went to wrong location so was rushed because she was going to be late for other clients. OK. I guess Third time I have a confirmed appointment for today and they are either late (30 min so far and haven't responded to my text asking if they are still coming). Not ok. I'm done. Three strikes and you're out with me. I have a life and responsibilities too and need my service providers to show up when they say they are going to show up or they get replaced. I prefer mobile but I'm going back to my reliable brick and mortar provider. read more

It's very upsetting to have to write this review but I feel that it's necessary. My dog was groomed and, somehow, his whiskers were cut in the process. A few days later he sustained a severe eye injury attempting to walk through an open door. After over $800 dollars in vet bills, weeks of traumatic eye drops and discharge, his vision is still obstructed 5 months later due to corneal scaring. $200 for my toothless, six pound Pomeranian to get a haircut and a permanent injury. So happy to find Amy! Our nervous guy went for a year without a good groom and she took great care to make him comfortable and remove all of his knots and tangles underneath. He emerged well adjusted and went right back to her for a love. She also worked with me to address a challenging parking issue and went above and beyond to reschedule.
