I used to take my dog here consistently about a year ago, and we always had good experiences. Recently, I decided to return. I'm disappointed to say the place feels like its declined. The sign outside is graffitied, the staff wasn't very friendly, and when I picked up my dog he was still wet, no cute scarf or anything, and right when we walked outside he pooped and peed on the sidewalk--signaling to me that for the 3hrs he was there--he was not taken out. On top of that, he has a mysterious new cut under his arm that's oozing (we went to the vet yesterday and I'm certain it wasn't there). I'm really disappointed and honestly pissed I tipped 20%. A young lady clipped my dog's nails. I didn't catch her name but she was kind to my dog and pleasant with me. This was my first visit to Posh Paws. What was unsettling to me was the icy cold nature of the workers otherwise. No one greeted me, no one told me anything when I asked for what I wanted. No one thanked me for my business. We love our groomer Killian. They do an amazing job with our dog and give great advice about how to keep his ears clean at home and things like that. I see some of the reviews say customer service is bad. I can see why people might say that because I think the groomers are also trying to answer phones and settle bills while trying to groom the dogs, there's not a dedicated reception person. I would like to preface I've been going to posh paws for 4 years. For the most part we've had positive experiences. But clearly the quality of their work has fallen off a cliff. I called several times over multiple days to speak to someone about my grievances and was told I would receive a return call from the manager, still waiting and it's been several weeks at this point. When I dropped off my cat I was as clear as you can get. She's old, she can't groom herself like she used to. I asked them to clean up one mat. I wanted them to bathe her and just trim her up a bit, make her look good. The lady then asked if we wanted a lions cut to which I explicitly restated what I wanted. Then she points to the carpet, like that short? ... NO, I just want a light haircut. When we picked up the cat, she's completely shaven, she's a long hair cat. After going around in a circle about how I didn't want my cat completely shaven you just completely shave her. They also failed to bathe her because she was "stressed out". That hasn't been an issue any other time but maybe shaving her entire body might have played a factor... So, we paid $120 dollars for our cat to be shaven... badly at that. I would have been surprised if it took her more than 5 minutes. We used to have Kat help us. She was always lovely and did a great job and the little touches like giving her a bandana you could tell she really cared. But she doesn't work there anymore. Considering how management deals with grievances and doesn't bother to call customers back, I can understand why she doesn't work there anymore. You're taking a real gamble when you go to posh paws. Maybe the tech was hired yesterday or maybe they know what they're doing... Regardless, if you have any issues good luck speaking with anyone. read more

I dropped my 13 pd mini poodle off today & when I picked him up his eye was swollen shut. I immediately raced to the vet bc he wouldn't stop pawing his eye. From what it looked like he was snipped on his eye causing major irritation/discomfort. He now has a cone, numbing medicine, not to mention the vet bill. When I drop my pet off at an establishment like this I expect my dog to be taken care of. This was not the case at all. My dog is in severe pain and has been crying since we have gotten home. NOT OKAY. I have called multiple times and have not been contacted back what so ever. Nobody checked on him or called out the mistake! I will not be returning ever. Do not go here. read more

I'm sad to write a less than perfect review, but I want to be honest and potentially help future patrons. I took my 6 month old goldendoodle to Posh Paws and specifically asked for one inch all around, round paws, puppy face, cut around ears, but keep his color (because the hair growing underneath is a lot lighter). I showed a few pictures for reference. The example picture showed how I wanted his face. I told the groomer that I really want him to keep a puppy feature to which she replied, "Yeah, everyone wants to hold on to that look." Pros: - The groomer told me her plan to cut his body short to prevent mats since his coat is changing, but long enough so that he'll still be fluffy (awesome, I like knowing the intentions if its different than what I asked for + reasoning) - She listened to my request to keep the color on his ears. Yay! - They offer walk-in nail trims for $5 cash. Everywhere else I've seen is $20+, so this is a great deal -They have a cancellation list to get your pup in sooner since they are booked a couple months out Cons: - Ear cleaning is supposed to be included in a full groom. My pup's ears were filthy when I checked at home that same day. Makes me wonder if his glands were even expressed... - Though the color was kept on his ears, the hair was still long around the perimeter. - His face was cut so short, he looks like a whole different dog and nothing like the picture I showed her ): - Lastly, his groomer did not ring me up. It's really hard to write this after being a patron of the posh paws for 4 years but my last visit and the complete lack of customer support resulting from it have been so unacceptable that I have to write a bad yelp review. I've been unable to even speak to the owner (who refuses to take my calls or emails) let alone get help, so unfortunately yelp is my only option left for resolution - that can hopefully also serve as a warning to others. About a month ago I took my retriever into Posh Paws for a standard bath & grooming. And the next day I noticed cuts all along his back paws right where his hair had been trimmed. If you look closely in the pictures you can actually see lines from the trimmer. My poor dog must have been in so much pain! But if that's not unsettling enough, the fact that nobody said anything was even worse. Pain aside, cuts like this are also a risk of infection when a dog like mine loves walking outside, so I'm lucky I noticed them when I did and was able to put some bacitracin on them. But what made it even worse was when I called to ask what happened (not even to complain mind you, just to ask and talk about it), I was given the biggest run around ever. I was told to send pictures to an email where I got no response for a week. I pinged the email again, and still no response. Only after pinging a third time did I get a response saying my information was sent to the owner who would contact me. The owner never contacted me. It's now been over a month! No discussion, no apologies, not even an acknowledgment of existence. I've been going to the PP for years and travel from outside the city just to give them my business and to be treated like this makes me feel like the owner really doesn't care. Not just about customers, but clearly the owner doesn't care about dogs and isn't a "dog person" because any normal dog person would immediately see this as unacceptable. I don't know if they have new management or what, but the complete lack of dialogue kinda forces me to stop going and also stop telling friends & family not to go either. And that's sad because the staff seem awesome, but the owner clearly doesn't give a crap. I've given them ample benefit of the doubt but I'm at the point where there are plenty of dog groomers in the area and it's not worth the risk to go to PP where this can happen and where there will be 0 support. read more

We've tried a few grooming places over the last year and a half. We finally booked a time with Posh Paws and I'm SO impressed! Our guy came home perfectly trimmed up, fresh, and so happy! They did a great job with his legs, toes, hind quarters, and tail. They even got a few mats cleaned up behind his ears that I had tried to clip earlier. He looks like a million bucks and the price was really fair with tip. We had tried to make an appointment with them awhile ago, but they were really booked (during Covid). I have been a customer of Posh Paws for over 8 years, but I won't be returning after our last visit. I have a labradoodle that was most recently groomed on 9/28/23. Her face was cut extremely close and uneven in between the eyes and she was bleeding from her paw when we got home. They cut her actual paw, it wasn't a nail cut too short. She was bleeding everywhere when we got home and she has bare patches on her face between her eyes. The pictures speak for themselves. I emailed them twice with pictures and received no response to my emails. This is especially disappointing after being a customer of over 8 years. This place used to be good, but since their established groomers recently left (we used to see Kat before she left), it has really taken a turn for the worse. I no longer trust leaving my dog here. I texted to check and got a response soon after saying my reservation was declined and that Cocker Spaniels were no longer on their accepted breed list. If you're a fellow pet owner looking for a groomer or if you've had a bad experience at Posh Paws, blame management. While aspects of this establishment are great, the overall management consistently fails customers and staff. Management often makes the irresponsible choice to fire employees without sufficient replacements causing them to be understaffed and incapable of offering the level of service your pet deserves. Due to this, groomers are not able to prioritize your pet's experience and cut. This does not reflect on these groomers; many can offer quality care and services. Management creates excess stress for employees, creating a poor environment for staff and pets. Also, reference the many other negative reviews specifically calling out the owners and management. From my experience there and other reviews, it's clear that many of this establishment's shortcomings stem from the owners and management being incapable of their jobs. The owners have the professionalism of a child, and the back rooms are falling into disrepair - an obvious extension of management's failure to maintain quality service or environment. As isolated incidents, these shortcomings can be overlooked, but the culmination of these issues is causing customers to be unhappy with the services provided and creating a toxic environment. I have three dogs; while I might trust their care and hair with some of the groomers here, I would never take them to this establishment. Do not take your pet here. I have been going to this grooming salon for a year and a half. Used to be completely tolerable and well run. I am not sure what has happened for the service to be so poorly executed. The last 2 times I have visited this place they have cut my cats nails so short and got infected or bled, or both. The first time it happened I assumed it was an accident so I didn't think about it. I have ALWAYS been direct in asking the worker helping my animal to cut just the tip off the nails. Not only are they now cut in different lengths, they are split and bleeding. I called the shop and they said it was "human error" and never acknowledged how my request was not met, or understand my concern of my cats health and my inevitable medical bill. They told me instead to bring my cat in again so they can assess the damage. Absolutely not! I can't trust you to follow basic customer requests, now you're telling me you're qualified for aftercare? I don't know if management has changed for training to be so poor, but it disgusts me. I don't know how they can possibly advertise a service they say all groomers are trained on for this experience to happen multiple times. I get Seattle is a dog friendly city, but if you CANNOT perform a service, do NOT advertise that you also groom cats. This is not "human error" it's negligence. I regret not getting my stylist name, but thank you so so much for making my baby poodle boy look like a cuddly bear (see pictures before/after). I've been taking Yoda (my dog/baby/child) here for the past year. I usually try to schedule with Laura, she's amazing with him. He always look so good and is so soft afterwards. He gets even more compliments everywhere he goes after an appointment with Laura. Yoda doesn't like being put in the kennels in the back after his cuts so Laura started letting him hang out up front while he's waiting for me. The last time I was there to pick him up ( they forgot to call me that 1 time, I just showed up) he was just chilling up front while Laura was working on another dog, instead of being in the back and stressing out like before. He gets anxiety easily so I really appreciate her for acknowledging his needs. I take Yoda here for nail trimmings and sometimes other little things in between his cuts. Terrible terrible experience getting a lion cut for my cat. We had to find a new groomer because both City Kitty (now Salon Meow) and Alex the cat groomer are too far and due to disability I don't drive. I highly regret it. At the other places during our first visits they took time to meet with my cat, build rapport, understand what's needed, and not be judgy. My cat is not able to groom himself due to his breathing and I have hand issues so he gets matted. The person who groomed him had a bad attitude from the start, was not welcoming at all, kept calling him "she" even after grooming him, and was just not the kind of nice you need for an anxious cat. My cat was of course uncomfortable with a new groomer and a room full of dogs so he was not easy to work with. But the groomer was nasty and judgmental when talking about him- loudly saying that "she* peed himself and kept yelling." He has been groomed for years and yes he gets stressed but previous groomers know how to approach it better. They even get him calm enough to take after pictures. I should've spent the extra time on the bus going to City Kitty because this was ridiculous. It wasn't even cheaper either. I paid $200 for a choppy lion cut with no bath. I don't have dogs so idk how dogs are groomed but this does not appear as a good grooming place for a cat. read more

After moving to Seattle, I've been looking for a place to take our husky. We've done both boutique grooming and big-store appointments. I decided to try this place on a whim and they had availability a few days out. Huskies are a lot of work because you can't shave/cut their fur - just extensive brushing, and ours in squirmy. There is only street parking available (to my knowledge) but I went during a weekday during the day so I found some on a perpendicular street and said like 15 cents to park for 10 minutes each drop off/pick up? They are only allowing one customer in the store at a time. They were great with my husky and he was actually finished before their time estimate - and it was faster than other places we've been. He came out looking fabulous! Totally brushed out, no tuffs or loose fur left. It was obvious they did a good job--and he really needed a bath... Definitely a little more expensive than other places we've been in the past, but not too crazy, worth returning for sure! I recommend this place! read more

Don't take your dog here if you care about their wellbeing. My sweet, happy-go-lucky dog was traumatized during his last visit to Posh Paws. I could hear him yelping in the back when I arrived to pick him up, which is not like him. As soon as I got him in the car, his whole body was shaking. His skin was covered in blisters, which quickly became infected. The vet believes the clippers were not used correctly on him. It's possible that he was traumatized by whatever pain he felt during the cut, but I believe something more serious happened. My once mellow dog has been a mess ever since this appointment. He continues to shake for no reason and he can't be left alone or he'll cry and howl (I used to leave him alone for 8 hours a day and he was fine). He's had chronic diarrhea for seemingly no reason. It's heartbreaking to watch my dog in distress and if you're a pet owner I'm sure you can sympathize. The worst part of this experience has been the lack of response from the business. We have taken our dog to Posh Paws for years and expected them to be empathetic. However, the owner will not communicate with me. She left me a voicemail *once* but she has been conveniently unreachable ever since and won't even answer my emails. I didn't even ask for a refund--we just wanted to know the truth about what happened so we could properly treat my dog. Now we have vet bills from his skin infection, chronic diarrhea, and the possible need to treat my dog's anxiety with medication. We will not stop trying to contact Posh Paws until they take some accountability. I can't stress this enough: a hundred good experiences with a business means nothing once you've had a bad one. If you ask me, it's not worth the risk when your pet's physical and mental health is at stake. No one is perfect, but how a business treats customers they've wronged says a lot. We will never come back and if you're thinking about going to Posh Paws for the first time I'd STRONGLY urge you to reconsider. read more

I rescued a toy poodle recently and was informed that he had previously had a traumatic experience with a groomer. I told the great people at Posh Paws this when I booked his first grooming appointment. He has now been groomed there twice and has been totally fine both times! So far the only grooming salon that understands the important of Poodle and Bichon Frise tip top cuts! I've taken my baby bears Chunk + Chia here a few times now and each time I always leave feeling comforted that they were well groomed and most importantly well-loved while being there for a few hours. Every dog that is on a grooming table is either always smiling or really enjoying their pampering moment (warms my heart every time walking in there). I've been searching and searching for a new groomer since I just moved back up from CA and was very skeptical of the groomers in my area (Renton) since there were so many mixed reviews. I decided to look in other towns and I'm so glad I did! With a 5 star average and almost 80 reviews I definitely had to take my little Hanzo here. The location isn't bad but I had a hard time finding parking. When you walk in you can see the little stations where the dogs are getting groomed. After they are done they are kept somewhere in the back. Wish they had an open area in the front but not too many places do. Hanzo's grooming took a few hours. We didn't get a call after 3 hours so we just went back to check and he was already done. His hair cut looked great and he didn't seem shaky like how he sometimes does after a grooming. We have used this groomer for a long time but the quality of the grooming has diminished over time. Today when we picked up our dog they cut her back nails too close and her nails were covered in blood. It's traumatizing enough for my dog to go to the groomer as it is that being injured on top of it is unacceptable.
